A dark spell that promises sweet memories. Will she give up her future just to endure her present?

At the turn of 1920, magical prohibition went into effect. A year later, human private detective-in-training Anna Caill needs a spell. She knows what it will cost, and she's ready to take the risks, despite the warnings.

She can't survive another day swallowed by the despair she's felt since losing her soul mate, and this spell is the only chance she has of living any sort of functional life for the people who still care for her. The steep consequences are tomorrow's problem.

As Anna gets her first hit of the dark spell that even witches hesitate to use, she finds the cold peace she needs to take on cases in this urban fantasy noir.

D. Lieber is an urban fantasy and sci-fi author with a wanderlust that would make a butterfly envious. When she isn’t planning her next physical adventure, she’s recklessly jumping from one fictional world to another. Her love of reading led her to earn a Bachelor’s in English from Wright State University.

Beyond her skeptic and slightly pessimistic mind, Lieber wants to believe. She has been many places—from Canada to England, France to Italy, Germany to Russia—believing that a better world comes from putting a face on “other.” She is a romantic idealist at heart, always fighting to keep her feet on the ground and her head in the clouds.

Lieber lives in Wisconsin with her husband (John) and cats (Yin and Nox).

Anna, a human girl is grieving over the loss of her boyfriend and soulmate and needs the kind of help that only a spell can do. The use of magic was prohibited about a year ago. There can be complication or side effects with the use of a spell like this but Anna is willing to take those risks if she could only find a witch that is willing to break the law for a human.

Anna gets the help she needs in locating a witch that can do the spell from her trusted friend and wizard Benji who takes her to see this witch. Can this spell help Anna or is she biting off more than she can chew?

Anna is a private investigator in training and helps her dad out on occasion with a case. Anna is asked by her dad to help him out on a case. He thinks Anna will be more suited for this case with her age. She has been asked to locate a guy that may be dealing with some things that are way over his head and could cost him more than he is willing to pay. Can Anna locate this guy? Can she help him?

Dancing with Shades is a short story that can be read in one sitting but definitely reads like a full length novel. It has witches, wizards, magic, spells, love, mystery and enough twists and turns to keep the pages flowing from start to finish.

I just love this world that was created for the Council of Covens Noir set in the 1920’s. I just love any magic world and can’t wait for more books in this world of witches, magic and mystery.

I highly recommend Dancing with Shades to all fans of magic, witches and mystery.

Dancing with Shades is a short story that can be read in one sitting, I read it while traveling, and it felt like I arrived in no time.
The MC is struggling with losing her loved one, her soulmate, with just getting through the day. She seeks out a witch to help her ease her grief. However, magic is forbidden, but there is always a loophole, and there is always a price to pay in order to use magic. She decides to use a spell, but can she deal with the consequences?
Amid all that, she needs to help her father with the case he is working on. Can she track the guy he is looking for, and most importantly can she protect him when she finds him?
I enjoyed reading this and didn't want to put it down until I was done, and when I was, it left me wanting more. I loved it!
