5+ stars (6/10 hearts). Well… wow.

I was NOT ready for this series to end.

Okay, so I was totally ready for Deadlock to be taken down, but I was not ready for Lee’s story to end!!!

So… this one started off with a BANG. By chapter one I was already yelling at the author. XD I don’t think it was THE most intense book of the series, but it was pretty intense still. I was so happy to finally have all the pieces snapped together about Lee’s past/backstory, etc. And I loved seeing old characters returning. (Mia… Mia is terrible. Just, really. And Jimmy is even more horrid than all the others.)

I loved the romance, okay?? It was amazing and so, so sweet.

Also, I’m blown away at how P.D. Atkerson made her characters LIVE. Like, I’m half-pursuaded that the Winfield family actually exists, somewhere in America…

I’m still not sure about the ending. I read this story—and this series—so fast that I missed out on a lot of info. So the ending felt a little rushed/confusing, but that was probably my fault. Also the fact that I wasn’t ready to have Lee’s story stop yet. XD But regardless, I think the ending was really good. <3 And I will be binge-reading this series all over again soon, because already I want to reread it. XD XD

*happy sigh* I love this series, guys.

A Favourite Humorous Quote: “Killian, um… in case things go sideways, or for some other reason we don’t see each other again…”
“Yeah,” Killian said[.] “You’re still my best friend too. I tried, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to replace you.”
“Oh! This is awkward. I wasn’t going to say that,” Lee said[.] “I was going to say you still owe me fifty bucks for that bet you made against me in fourth grade. But still, that was very touching.”
Killian rolled his eyes. “Sure…” he said, then he closed his eyes and made himself comfortable. “We’re going to make it out of this, Winnie. If I do, then you’d better make it out of this alive too. I’m not losing anyone else right now.”
Lee snorted and rested back himself. “Trust me, I’m not going to die on purpose,” he said. “Not dying is kind of a hobby of mine.”

Dun, dun, DUH!!!

Hold onto your seats for the thrilling last installment to the AKA Simon Lee series!!! The Predator has taken complete control, and Lee and Winfield are still separated! This had a cool brainwave/mind controlling twist to it, which turned out so well, it was so cool. I loved every minute of this book. Things are finally wrapping up for the Phantom Thief, and it was so sad saying goodbye to him, but I know I'll find myself re-reading this series, I loved it so much, so it's not a complete goodbye ;) And the surprise characters from Winnie Winfield are in this, which was SO much fun for me. You don't want to miss the finale of the AKA Simon Lee series.

Who can you trust?

Second reading: Just finished reading this entire series out loud to my sisters, and we all LOVED them!! So, so good. Idk how I'm going to keep reading more books to them after this. Lol!

First reading: Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! What an amazing series. The whole thing. I loved every book so very much!!!! And the last book was no disappointment. The characters are so amazing, and SO real. Lee and Winfield are two of my favorite literary characters of all time. ❤️
My only complaint, is I felt like the ending was rushed, and there was more I wanted to know.
Other than that, this series was totally awesome, and I'm planning on reading them all out loud to my siblings very soon!!!! I think they will really love them as well, and I can't wait to enjoy it with them!! (P.S. This is probably my favorite series ever, and my reviews have not adequately expressed my feelings on them at all. Just know I love them to death.)🤣❤️😁

I have been on the edge of my seat for each of the AKA Simon Lee books. This one has been long-awaited, and I am slightly disappointed... ONLY BECAUSE I WASN'T READY FOR IT TO END.

I really loved how the plot twisted in this one... And it is sad that it is the last book but it was so good, I highly recommend you grab copies of each of the books, now!

Look for a full review sometime after I binge read the whole series...

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This book was an awesome read! I was sad to flip the last page, knowing that once I did, the story would be over. But I really enjoyed it.
P.D. Atkerson has an amazing way of entangling you in her web of words and holding you there. I got yelled at a few times because I just couldn't put the book down!
P.D. did a good job with how she wrote the character of Lee and I definitely recommend this series!

Wow, what a book! This one was just as packed with adventure as the rest of the series, but there was something more sinister. This one bordered more on sci-fi with mind-controlling/memory-altering technology. Once again, all characters are vivid and distinct; the plot is action-packed and tense; the resolution is satisfying.

This book was one of those books that made putting down impossible. I still can't believe I read it in two days ;P

I have mixed feelings about this book. I really didn’t like the whole Braincircuit thing, and so that spoiled the first part a bit for me, but other than that… this was a great ending to the series. I was so glad to finally have all the answers, and to see glimpses of Lee’s life before there was a Phantom Thief. Speaking of… the brief account of how he was born was just – perfect for Lee, and I laughed so much at that. Was nothing about his life normal? I really don’t think so…

I loved seeing some old characters again (both good and bad) – and some, particularly, who still didn’t know anything about Lee. Spoilers
Winfield was as amazing as ever, and even more so in this one. I’m so glad that , and I found it very realistically done. The way Lee reacts to the news, too, was realistic and just what I would have expected from him, .
End of spoilers
I did feel as if the ending was a bit… anticlimactic, maybe? I didn’t dislike it, I just felt it could have been done slightly better. It wasn’t too sudden, or too unrealistic – it just wasn’t quite as dramatic as I was sort of expecting it to be. And I also felt like it left quite a few loose ends – but I have a feeling those will be tied up in some other series, so that didn’t bother me too much!
Edit: I wrote this review before I read any other SLU stories, and while I still have questions even now - I realise that with any SLU series, you need to read it not as a single series but a series that fits into a much bigger puzzle known as the SLU. And then, it really doesn't matter how a series ends or what loose ends it leaves untied - because you have to read the rest of the SLU to get the full picture. I mean, RM is NOT the end of the story, and there is so much you'll miss out on if you treat it as such and stop there. Think of this as Season 1 of a long series - it ends somewhat satisfactorily and ties some things up, but you can't stop there. SLU is only complete in its entirety, and now that I understand that, I like the ending of RM much better. ;) Even if I still wish there hadn't been a lie involved.

Apart from that, this is an extremely suspenseful ending to an extremely suspenseful series. I love all these characters so much, and I’m really, really sorry to have the series end. Lee is one of the most unique main characters I’ve ever read, and I love him so much – and his dad. I'm so glad I decided to give the series a try. I loved every single one and I could quite happily have had it carry on for many more books!
Edit again: It does, and I'm so glad! Keep reading. Read all the sequels, read all the prequels, and sit back and enjoy the ride. ;)

Note: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Recommended Reading Order for the Simon Lee Universe books (SLU):
Note: This is the order I've put together after reading and rereading almost all of these books, sometimes at once. While there are different opinions on which series should be read first, this is the order I personally feel is best for a first-time reader. It is NOT the chronological order - and I strongly recommend that a first-time reader does NOT read these books in chronological order. That's great for rereads, but the most will be got out of the SLU books by reading them loosely in the following order

Phantom Thief
Nicholas Bishop
Gregory's Epilogue (blog short)
Christmas Hostage
Guardian Eagle
Murphy Lawson
Ghost Hunter
Most Wanted
Winnie Winfield

Oh

Soul

THIS BOOK

Ok. Let’s just take a moment to appreciate that Lee has issues too, and that he’s finally kinda learning that it’s okay to not be okay.

Also…WHAT COULD MAKE THE AKA SIMON LEE SERIES BETTER THAN THIS KIND OF PLOT!!!

I’d better stop before I give spoilers.

This book was amazing. I just…wow…I loved it. I loved how Lee and his dad’s relationship blossomed. I also loved how he had to deal with family he didn’t know that well. They were an interesting bunch to say the least.

I really enjoyed the suspense, the characters, the plot, just everything, and I thought that it came to a very satisfying end. I was very sad to finish the series though.

But another thing…the author captured my attention in this one like no other. Whatever they did differently in these books as opposed to the previous ones, keep it up. It worked.

Again, some things to keep in mind
- As aforementioned, there are several replacement words that show up in this book. I don’t remember a lot of them, but my mind tends to skip or block those words.
- The sarcasm in this one was very playful, but again, people have mixed views on sarcasm, so if it affects you negatively, then please be careful.

Thank you so much to the author for giving me this series to review!

This book was definitely my favorite one of the entire series! It was SO GOOD!! I did feel like the ending left a lot to your own imagination though. Which may or may not be a good thing depending one what you like. I am really sad that this series ended! I will definitely be reading it again sometime.
