Containing more than 100 low-carb, high-fat, anti-inflammatory recipes, The Mexican Keto Cookbook provides insight into the history of Mexican cuisine while also adding a flavorful, international flair to the popular keto diet.
In contrast to the typical Mexican American diet--the result of busy schedules, tight budgets, and high-sugar, white flour foods of convenience-- The Mexican Keto Cookbook is packed with authentic, full-flavored, health-conscious recipes designed to burn body fat. It includes the science behind keto, guides you on how to execute the diet effectively, and provides more than 100 amazing recipes. Integrative holistic nutritionist Torie Borrelli tapped into her Mexican heritage to create keto-friendly staples of Mexican cuisine such as Salsa Bandera, Nopales Salad, and Sopa de Albondigas; quick and easy weeknight dinners such as Chicken Tortilla Soup, Goat Cheese Enchiladas, and Spicy Cilantro Chicken Wings; and hearty crowd-pleasers such as Fish Tacos and Turmeric Caper Cauliflower.
With this very first low-carb, anti-inflammatory, high-fat Mexican ketogenic cookbook on hand, you can enjoy all the fun and flavor of your favorite Mexican foods while reaping the many health, weight loss, and other benefits keto has to offer.
The author of this book needs to read up on what the Keto lifestyle consists of. If new to Keto please find other sources. Many of the recipes call for ingredients not allowed on Keto. For instance, corn tortillas....anyone writing a Keto book should know corn is a BIG no-no. And there are no nutritional facts (fat, protein, carbs, fiber, etc.) So no way to track your macros using this book.
With all cookbooks I want something new to eat and better if it helps with my health. So when Mexican Keto came out it was a god sent! Being Mexican American I grew up thinking Mexican food wasn’t healthy. Then the rise of new information we start to look at food in a different way. Naturally, I tried one of the recipes, well two, and I had to pick the one that I have never tried and the hardest. That was Chicken Pate with pickled onions. So I never thought of chicken liver as a Mexican dish, but many elders in my family still eats liver if they happen to be low in iron. And the verdict - it was delicious all the work paid off in the end and with cucumber instead of crackers added a more crisp and crunchy result. Remember don’t miss the pickled onions.
I stumbled upon this book at Powell’s at first it looked like a nice furniture for my living room… then I stared reading it and it’s a pretty nice intro to keto for the lazy but if you are trying low carb diets please be sure you read ketones the 4th fuel and the art and science of the low carb living and performance books at some point.
That being said I love the broth sections I tried the home mayo and coconut whipped cream.
I would love a nutrition fact list for dishes but it’s maybe too much to ask.

The Keto diet plan wouldn't work for me. The absence of sugar and carbs I can live with, but no grains? I put question marks around any healthy food plans that cut out completely any food groups. It will never succeed, over a long period of time. I was curious about this hoping to find some decent Mexican vegetable recipes and I didn't, really. For someone on the Keto plan, or curious about healthier ways to prepare Mexican dishes, this book might be a boon. Just not for me.
This is not a Keto cookbook. No macros listed whatsoever and includes non-Keto ingredients as other reviewers have mentioned. I would not have purchased this book had I realized this beforehand. Maybe a good low carb-ish cookbook, but clearly just using the “Keto” monicker for marketing here. Misleading and not what it claims to be.
The Mexican Keto Cookbook includes some incredibly delicious recipes that can be made in any season! The easy-to-make dishes run the gamut of snacks to desserts. Perfect gift during the holiday season -- especially for the health conscious family member or friend (or yourself).
Torie's recipes on the Mexican Keto Cookbook are mouthwatering. I can wait to make them! She brings new ideas to the table and created simple and healthy recipes. I love the story behind the cookbook!
Beautiful book filled with good information and attractive recipes. It’s not for your hardcore folks who count macros, as the nutrition information is not included. But the recipes in general use keto-friendly and healthy ingredients. I tried one recipe already and liked it.
Amazing recipes and beautiful photography. I also love the beginning chapters where she explains her methods and approach to keto. A must-have cookbook for the kitchen!
My wife asked me the other day, “Are you reading a cookbook?” I looked up, surprised and said, “Haven’t you ever read a cookbook?” I find good cookbooks can be fun and interesting to read. A good cookbook will often tell the story behind a recipe. So while a cookbook can be a good reference, it can also tell a story. I am trying to eat healthier and low carb. I love Mexican food. So a book about cooking low carb, or Keto, and Mexican food sounded good. This book is a beautiful book. The pictures are lovely. The recipes inspiring. The author is an integrative holistic nutritionist. She has helped many people improve their health with nutrition, especially with eating a low carb, high “good” fat diet. She does a very good job of explaining what it means to eat keto. How intermittent fasting can be helpful. And how sometimes eating a little more carbs while eating generally low carb, can be good as well. As someone who lives in the midwest, a few of the foods she uses are not easily available to me. (Nopales and squash blossoms). Most of the foods are available. The recipes look pretty easy to make. I am looking forward to trying some of them. I enjoyed reading this cookbook and will find inspiration from it for eating low carb while enjoying a favorite type of food.
