Will a city girl forced to spend the holidays in her small hometown recapture the magic of the season?
Madison hasn’t visited Silver Falls since she left the snowy mountain winters behind for the beaches of California twenty years ago. In the midst of the annual Christmas festival, an accident forces her to return and manage her mom’s candy business at the Sugar Shop.
Grant hasn’t seen her since she left for college, but remembers spending summers at the lake with the skinny, plain girl he and everyone used to know as Sugar. The contemporary advertising executive he encounters now is anything but plain.
Will Grant’s kindness, the charm of Silver Falls, and the caring community open Sugar’s heart to all she’s been missing?

You know when you're just in the mood for those good feels? A story that will leave you feeling happy ... maybe even provide you with a few happy tears? Tammy L. Grace definitely delivers! I read A Season For Hope (the first book in the series) and The Magic Of The Season back to back and loved them both. Both novellas are packed full of well developed, lovable characters and fantastic storylines. The descriptions are so well done that I could often picture myself right there in the story. Christmas is my most favorite time of the year and so many of Silver Halls traditions are like our community. So neat! An easy 5 stars from me. I can always use more Christmas in my life.
A huge thank you to Kate Rock Book Tours and Tammy L. Grace for my review copy! I look forward to reading more in the future.
Tammy L Grace delivers back to back novellas with A Season For Hope (Book 1) and The Magic of the Season (Book 2). Both fabulous books are great stand alones.
Madison “Sugar” for the past twenty years, had been enjoying the beautiful beaches in sunny Santa Monica, California, and away from the snowy mountains of Silver Falls. She comes home to help her mom, who got in a car accident, in her Sugar Shop. This happens to be in the middle of the busiest season for their business and in the midst of the annual Christmas festival.
Grant, a childhood friend, and bakery owner who knows Sugar as the plain and skinny girl from the past is now faced with a more confident advertising executive. Seeing how their relationship blossom from friendship to love is sweet and heartwarming.
Grace writes a beautiful story of a community that comes together and truly brings out the magic and miracle of the season. This amazing read checks off the boxes for me for a wonderful read; amazing characters you will love, cozy holiday feels, and of course, who doesn’t love Candy!
I highly recommend these two books for an amazing read that leaves you ready for the season of love, giving and community. What a feel good read!! I loved it!
This was my first time reading this author. I really enjoyed this heart warming Christmas novella. It made me grab a cup of cocoa and some cookies. Set in a charming little town that is so full of the Christmas spirit. A story of returning home and rediscovering the magic you left behind twenty years ago. A wonderful read that is just as beautiful as cover.
This sweet novella will have you dreaming of the magic of the Christmas season. It's a romantic and adorable celebration with the people of Silver Falls...and a return visit with the characters from the first book in the Christmas in Silver Falls series, A Season of Hope. I am in the mood for Christmas after reading this endearing book.
Madison has been away from her hometown of Silver Falls for 20 years. She's established in her career and has no desire to return. Then an accident happens that requires her to return to Silver Falls and step in to work her mother's candy business right in the middle of its busiest season. Sugar, as Madison is known in her hometown, now faces a task that seem almost impossible. Will she be able to manage the business and fill all the orders that her mother has already received and committed to?
This is where the friendly and hospitable towns people come together in the Christmas spirit. It's a "family" who looks out for each other and they do whatever it takes. The adorable pups in the story add to the hominess and love. This all comes together to bring a cozy read to snuggle down, enjoy and put you into the spirit of the Christmas season.
Ms. Grace brought out all the magic of the season in her detailed descriptions of the town. All the lights, winter scenes and holiday smells of candy, cinnamon, pine and fresh falling snow. It was a winter wonderland I loved wandering into through the pages.
There is happiness, romance, love and joy that made me feel good reading this story. The characters are like family and friends I returned to visit and enjoy the holidays with. It was so wonderful experiencing The Magic of the Season with the people of Silver Falls.
Thank you, Ms. Grace, for the opportunity to read an ARC of your sweet novella. It's a magical five stars!
I found this to be a cute Christmas novella that left me smiling once I finished, I just a sucker for HEA. It had character growth and a second chance romance (my favorite) that immediately drew me in. Sugar (Madison) stepped up where her mother needed her to and rediscovered the charm of the small town she grew up in. Why trying to keep her Mother's business afloat she reconnects with her childhood friend Grant. Grant was everything you could ask for in a leading man, he was loving, considerate, and kind towards Sugar. While that is definitely part of his charm, I loved how he interacted with his entire family and the love they shared. I think everyone would love to be apart of their circle and all their family meals had my mouth watering. If you have a sweet tooth, be prepared to want all the cookies and fudge after reading this one.
What kept me from giving this one five stars?
I found the near shaming of trying to healthy and organic a turn off. Sugar is called a yuppie multiple times for wanting healthy food and for not wanting to partake in dessert after dinner. I think we should all try to find that healthy balance and never shame someone for their food choices, especially for trying to live a healthy lifestyle.
Thank you Kate Rock Book Tours for a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
A first by me by this author and WOW I am in love!! This perfectly written Christmas Novella has all the feels of a Hallmark movie!! I loved this beautiful cozy Christmas read and can not wait to go back and read the first book in the series! I cant wait to read all of this authors work as her writting draws you in and leaves you feeling hugged by a warm and cozy blanket!! A must read!!
This is a nice short read for the holidays.i have not read the series so I was a little lost figuring out the characters.I love all of the dogs mentioned. The description of the small town makes me want to live there. You won't go wrong reading this.
Anyone who knows basically anything about me, or has spoken to me even once, knows that I love the Christmas season and all slightly or fully-cheesy holiday romcoms. Even if you just saw me on the street and someone said "That's Jennifer, and she loves Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies," you would probably look at me and say "Yeah, that checks out." I am the girl that put on my Christmas pajamas as soon as the last trick or treaters had left our porch (I wish I was kidding about that. I did.)
So when this tour came up, I knew that I wanted to be a part of it. Holiday magic? Sweet love story? Easy, quick read novella? Yes please! And I will say that this is a second in a series (mentioned in the description above). I was also given a copy of the first story, A Season for Hope, in order to read it before this tour as well, so I was able to read both! I will include an amazon link for both novellas below, in case you do want to read both stories - but I will not be including the first in this review, as while they are in the same series and they both have the same beautiful setting, they follow two separate characters and therefore are stand-alone stories. Just FYI!
Now that that's out of the way, let's get down to this review! This story was so charming! By the time I was a few chapters in, I knew that if possible I would move to Silver Falls in a heartbeat. If you are someone who has seen Gilmore Girls, Silver Falls is like Stars Hollow but a step up still. It is a small town where everyone is willing to step in and help anyone around them who needs it, and where everybody in town knows everybody else, and you can't walk down the street without someone stopping you to say hello and ask how you are. I love those settings in stories, because I think deep in my soul that is the type of town that I would belong in.
The characters are also so sweet and genuine, and while sometimes they seem sweet enough to give you a cavity, overall they seem like people that you could really meet in a town like this. I do think, though, that our female lead Madison (better known to all as Sugar) is the most realistic and relatable character in this particular novella. I think everyone can relate to trying (and failing) to get rid of a childhood nickname, and being in a time in your life that you want to escape your hometown and go have adventures. But I also love that she is able to come back home and still see the magic in the relationships around her, and getting to see in the long run that she still has that small town magic and love inside of herself as well.
I will say that this probably wouldn't be a perfect story for everyone for a few specific reasons. Mainly because this is a love story and, as it is a novella rather than a full length novel, the love story is not as long and fully realized as it would be in a different format. The two leads spend a lot of time together throughout the story, so it isn't a Disney princess love at first sight situation, but you don't blatantly see them falling in love over the course of ten chapters before the happily ever after. As someone who, again, watches just about one holiday romcom per day in the holiday season, this didn't necessarily bother me. The two characters knew each other from childhood, so even at the beginning of the novella they knew each other, they weren't meeting for the first time. And there isn't anything about them as characters that makes them falling in love quickly seem unrealistic - it is something that can happen in real life too, as long as both of the people involved are open to that possibility. These are two adults, I believe they are both in their thirties, who knew each other from childhood through high school graduation, and I think that if this situation were to happen in the real world, I think that they honestly could fall in love in the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a romantic time!
All of this to say, if you are bothered by love stories that happen quickly or that you, as the reader, aren't fully privy to, then this may not be the story for you. But I, myself, thought that the love story was really sweet and fit the format that the story was in, so it didn't bother me in the slightest.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed both of these stories, and would recommend them to the people around me who are ready to skip right to the holiday season. And as stated above, both are able to stand alone and reading them both in order is not necessary to enjoy the story, I did enjoy both of them quite a bit. So if you're up for it, then go for it! Read them both! I ended up reading these right as our Texas weather was starting to take a turn for the cooler temperatures, and it really helped me by setting the mood. The description on Goodreads really says it best, and I couldn't agree more - they pair perfectly with a cup of cocoa in front of a blazing fire!
I'm thrilled to tell you about this heartwarming, cozy Christmas novella!
Madison "Sugar" White may have been born and raised in the winter wonderland of Silver Falls, but after attending college on the West Coast and permanently settling in Santa Monica, this big-city girl is more accustomed to green smoothies, fancy coffee shops, and her high-pressure career in advertising than small-town life. When her mother is injured in a car accident, however, Sugar has to come home to help run her mom's candy shop during the most wonderful - and busy - time of the year.
Responsible for making and managing all of the candy orders, plus spearheading a fundraiser to help save Silver Falls' arts center, Sugar feels like she's in over her head, but she's not in this alone. Backed by the supportive, caring residents of Silver Falls - including bakery owner Grant, a childhood friend who remembers when Madison was a sweet, carefree girl nicknamed Sugar - Sugar finds her footing, embraces the love and support of the community, and begins to remember the magic and true meaning of the Christmas season.
This is such a sweet read, and it absolutely put me in the Christmas spirit. Tammy's beautiful descriptions of Silver Falls transported me to what I imagined a real-life gingerbread village would look like, and her characters are all so lovable. I adored watching Sugar's relationship evolve with Grant, from supportive friend to love interest, and her interactions with his family were heartwarming. I also enjoyed witnessing Sugar's personal growth, from someone who shunned small-town life and the Christmas season, to a driven, thoughtful woman who fully invested herself in Silver Falls and helped affect so much positive change there.
It really proves that you can take the girl out of the small town, but you can't take the small town out of the girl.
Although this book is only about 120 pages, it packs a heartwarming punch. I read it in one sitting, and I absolutely loved it. This novella is a follow-up to Grace's 2018 novella, A Season of Hope, and although I haven't read the first one, this sequel was perfect as a standalone read. I can't wait to read the first one though, and add both to my holiday collection!
Thank you so much to Tammy L. Grace and Kate Rock Book Tours for the opportunity to be on this book tour and for a free e-copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review! I always love discovering new writers I love, and I'm excited to add more Tammy Grace titles to my TBR!
Tammy L. Grace writes another fantastic Christmas story set in the wonderful town of Silver Falls!
This is a fun story about Madison who is from the ultimate snowy Christmas town Silver Falls, she heads off to the California for college & relocates there permanently. Madison needs to put vacation plans on hold to return home to a town that still refers to her by her nickname as a kid Sugar. Madison isn’t much like Sugar anymore she’s got a busy career and prefers her new career driven life that’s more of a comfort to her than being back in her home town.
Returning back to Silver Falls to run her mother’s candy shop during the busiest time of the year while her mother recovers from an accident you see the town people pitch in to help Sugar.
Grace writes about Christmas in such a magical festive way you feel like your transported right into Silver Falls. Her books will surely get you in to the Christmas spirit!
It’s a delightful story that delivers the magical Christmas spirit of Silver Falls! If you’ve read the first book of the series A Season For Hope you’ll appreciate catching up with your favorite Silver Falls characters in book two as well. You’ll also know it wouldn’t be Christmas in Silver Falls without a little romance. If you haven’t read book one yet you can pick this one up and enjoy the story. The series doesn’t require you to read in order. Although I’m sure you’ll want to add both books to your Chistmas book collection.
Thank you Kate Rock Book Tours & Tammy L Grace for my free copy in exchange for an honest review.
The Magic of the Season, the second part in the Silver Falls Series, will have you wanting to decorate your tree and sing Silent Night at the top of your voice! In this magically written novella, Madison, (Aka Sugar) left Silver Falls behind 20 years ago with no intention of ever returning. After her mom skids off the icy road while making deliveries, Madison has little choice but to return to the close knit town that she grew up in, so she can run The Sugar Shop, her mom's candy business. The first person that Madison, literally, runs into is Grant. The beautiful young woman that almost scalded him with coffee could not possibly be the same skinny, plain girl who played at his house and swam in the lake with him but to his enjoyment it is. Will the magical Christmas season bring two lonely hearts together? Will Madison be able to run her mom's business during the busy holiday season? The resident's of Silver Falls, amazingly come together and help out their neighbor and friend during their time of need. Will Madison decide to return to Silver Falls permanently after witnessing the love and joy that the close knit community shares? Author Tammy Grace has magically written a sweet and heartwarming Christmas novella. An extremely talented author, Ms. Grace appears to have added her magical touch to each word. I am looking forward to discovering more great books from this amazing author! I was given an ARC of this novella by author Tammy Grace, who I thank wholeheartedly. This review is in my own words and all opinions are solely my own!
Are you a fan of small town romances? Christmas books? If your answer is yes, The Magic of the Season is the book for you.
Madison, a big-city, lonely workaholic is forced to return to her small hometown of Silver Falls when her mother is badly injured in a car accident. She has to keep her mom's business running while her mom is in the hospital and a rehab facility.
This is my first Silver Falls book and it was a very good read. The small town atmosphere, closeness of the community, beautiful descriptions of the area, and the great characters all pulled me in right away. I enjoyed meeting everyone and even though I hadn't read the first book in this series, I was quickly swept into the story and felt like I'd known these characters already.
I loved the story of how this small town rallied around Madison (Sugar is her nickname) and her mom in their time of need. It reminded me of times past when people did help their neighbors just because help was needed, not for personal gain. I found myself really enjoying returning to this story whenever I had time, primarily because of the great atmosphere and the amount of community spirit in this one small town.
Pick up The Magic of the Season and get ready to settle in, eat some fudge or caramels and don't forget the cookies! Merry Christmas!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC at my request. As always, the thoughts in this review are my own and not dependent upon the fact that I received an ARC.
This heartwarming novella by Tammy L. Grace will have you in the festive spirit in no time! I read this book quickly in a short time the other day. I live in the Deep South where we have still been using our AC so reading about snow, fireplaces, warm drinks, etc. got me excited about the holidays! I even started looking at Christmas decorations online! I’d say this book was quite inspirational!
Grace does manage to capture The Magic of the Season in this delightful story. It’s mainly the story of one family setting the example of true friendship from generation to generation. It’s also the story of small town living and neighbors working together for the common good. It will make all readers wish they lived in a town such as this. I have to say, when I finished reading, I felt like I had just watched a Hallmark Christmas movie. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that!
I was provided an ARC of this novella by the author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
Ahhhhhh!! That was such a wonderful story. It was wholesome, full of values and an all around satisfying read. If you’ve read any of Tammy L Grace’s novels and enjoyed them, I guarantee you will enjoy this story just as much. If not, this would be a great start.
When I started The Magic of the Season, I was surprised because Madison was the character who started the story; and we hadn’t met her yet. I wanted to continue with Dottie, Grant, Drew, Hope and Jake! Boy, was I happy when I turned the page to chapter two and there was the Fisher family! I love this family, all their dogs and the town of Silver Falls.
Tammy did a great job developing her characters. You forget you’re reading a book because you’re immediately immersed in the town and all of the people.
I’m sad thinking I’ll have to wait a whole year for another installment of Christmas in Silver Falls.
These books would make great stocking stuffers for anyone who loves to read!
Magic of the Season” by Tammy L. Grace is a true romance that captured me from the beginning. Based in Silver Falls, this town is a great place with characters that will draw you in and make you not want to stop reading. The first book in the Series, “A Season of Hope”, tells the beginning of the story and this is a continuance of this gorgeous town and it’s wonderful characters. I felt like I was there with them. Sugar is a character that is easy to love and from her arrival I wondered about how the story would end. Would she see the “Magic of the Season” in Silver Falls? Being a Christmas Novella, I found myself looking forward to the holiday coming up in a few months. Smiling as I read, it did not disappoint and I would definitely recommend it.
"It's the season of miracles. Maybe some Silver Falls magic will do the trick."
The second novella of "Christmas in Silver Falls". This story is just as sweet and whimsical as "A Season for Hope". Silver Falls has it all! Friendship, hope, love and a large dose of magic! Sugar grew up in Silver Falls and now lives in California. She hasn't been back in years until her mother gets injured and needs help in her sweet store to prepare for her holiday orders. What's a girl to do? How long will she need to stay and can she possibly learn to make fudge and candy? The love and happiness of this special season will see to it that"things" get done. There may also be more surprises along the way! Terrific story!
This is a second book about Silver Falls and can easily be read as a stand alone, but reading A Season for Hope may well fill in some spaces and make you feel more like a member of the town and the family. It's a heartwarming Christmas story that will make you fall in love with this town and the people, actually makes you want to live there!!! It will also make you fall in love with Christmas all over again and wish for more Christmases like the ones celebrated in Silver Falls, and that's what happens to the leading character as she rekindles lost friendships and memories. You will love it !!!! I certainly did.
A fun little Christmas novella part of a series. California girl Madison (Sugar) returns home after her mother is injured in a wreck delivering her beloved fudge and candy. Sugar takes some time off from her job to take over the candy making business. Meanwhile the small time Charm and people of Silver Falls embrace her return and pitch in to help save the candy making. Meanwhile, Sugar Sees the need to organize a Christmas Gala to benefit the struggling arts center which benefits the children of the town. How long will the magic of the Christmas season last? Will Sugar return to her California life and job
Ah, back to the magical town of Silver Falls. This is the second book in this series, and several of the beloved characters make another appearance, but you can easily read it on it's own if necessary.
A visit to this town will reawaken your Christmas spirit. A cast of old and new characters with kind hearts and some lovable pooches start things off. Throw in the vivid descriptions of the area, food and decorations and you will want to move to Silver Falls!
Cozy up with your favorite hot drink and slippers and enjoy this delightful novel!
This is the first time reading anything from this author. Perfect Holiday Read! 🎄⛄
What a beautiful wonderful amazing read.
What a great read! This had me hooked from the beginning. The sitting, theme, and the Characters had me pulled so in. Everything was well put together and it was just perfect. This novel did just that to me. Highly recommend everybody get this book and read it. Its so good! Can't wait for her next book.
A super fun, sweet and festive christmas story. Tammy L Grace makes you feel like you are in the story and the characters are like friends. Oh, and dogs, there's always dogs in her books that you want to meet. This is a cozy up, comfy and perfect christmas novella. Pair it with A Season for Hope and you are golden. I love gifting these to friends and family during the holidays. I can't wait for the day I see these on the Hallmark channel.
I got my wish when I reviewed A Season for Hope and asked for a sequel for Grant! I love Tammy L. Grace's books - her characters are well-developed and the settings are so well described you feel like you are there. You can read the synopsis on Amazon so I won't repeat the story line. I like reading books like this in order - even though the stories can be read as stand-alone, some of the characters reappear in her books and it's fun to know a bit about them.
This holiday novella will captivate you in the first chapter. The author has the ability to create charming characters and portray detailed scenes you can envision in your mind. A captivating and magical sweet romance at it's best! I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
I love reading any book by Tammy L. Grace. I always read the last page and close the book with a smile on my face. Her descriptive writing style makes you feel like you are living in the town and enjoying all the holiday cheer. Really enjoy her Christmas books. The characters are endearing and I loved revisiting Silver Falls. I voluntarily reviewed a copy I received from the author.
This short book was fun to read. Madison, aka Sugar in her hometown, returns home to Sugar Falls to take over her mother’s candy business while her mother recuperates from an accident. All the scenes and characters are realistic, loving and supportive. This book is a fantastic story about the spirit of Christmas and friendship. Don’t miss this heartfelt Christmas book!
If you like Hallmark Christmas movies, you will really enjoy this one! A beautiful setting with all the joys of Christmas. Friends and neighbors stepping up to help each other in trying times and saving the things the town needs. Great characters, a touch of romance and best of all, my favorite is always the dogs in any book! Golden’s and a lab! This will get you in the Christmas spirit!
This book is everything you want in a holiday read. Family, love, and a little Christmas miracle. Tammy L. Grace has given a story that makes the reader long for the joy that a small town provides. A place where everyone knows your name and often your business too, but also a place where everyone pulls together to help and support each other.
There’s nothing better than cozying up and reading an uplifting Christmas novella. This one has lots of yummy details and heartfelt relationships in some town America. The characters are realistic and relatable. What a great way to celebrate a wonderful Christmas season.
I enjoyed this story very much. A short, sweet novella that kept the pages turning. Good, kindhearted characters - second chance, small town, older more mature leads - it is a win for me!
