Lucy the unicorn has trouble making friends with the other animals. She thinks she needs to look like a horse to hang out with the horses, or like a zebra to hang out with the zebras. She disguises herself with paint, costumes, and hats in her attempt to fit in with the different animals. Unfortunately for Lucy, this doesn’t seem to work. Should Lucy just try to be herself?
Kids will laugh at Lucy’s not-so-creative disguises as they learn the value of being themselves.
It's Not Easy Being a Unicorn is a great story about a unicorn called Lucy who tries to change herself to fit in with the other animals but soon learns it's better to be yourself.
I think it's brilliant how this story compares Lucy to similar animal sizes like horses and zebras. It's a great way to show that it's always best to be yourself and the way the story is written it's makes it a fun lesson to learn.
The illustrations are lovely and it's nice to see how Lucy attempts to fit in on each page, it's particularly amusing to see how she hides her horn with a hat or something else fun. I think the best part is the end though, when we get to see Lucy be herself as it shows that we are always best to stay true to ourselves and true friends will be found no matter what.
This is a fantastic book to remind readers that staying true to yourself is always best even if it seems a bit scary at first.
Lucy (unicorn) has trouble making friends with the other animals. Horse’s hang out with horses, & zebra’s hang out with zebras. It seems that’s the way it is. Lucy tried disguising herself, but that didn’t work. More disguises. The Zebra’s, donkey’s, & ponies still wouldn’t have anything to do with Lucy.
What advice did Ryan (bird) give her?

A very awesome book cover, great hand drawn colored pictures, & proper font & writing style. A very well written children’s (age 2-8) educational adventure story book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational adventure movie, an animated cartoon, a classroom PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I read this book on my iPad with nephew, who just adored the bright colors and cute animals! He’s a bit young to understand everything, but the message of the book was really important and I’d highly recommend taking the time to read it to kids in your family!
It’s not too long, which is great if they have shorter attention spans :) but it also wasn’t so short that we breezed through. We had a great time sitting together just flipping back and forth to look at the pictures. The art is eye-catching and will definitely be entertaining even for your littlest ones. (My nephew kept going back to the zebras!)
Lucy the Unicorn is Ryan the birds friend. Lucy would like someone to play with. She found the horses who play with only horses. So Lucy decided to try. She wore a hat. They said no. She saw the zebras. She tried with them, but she ran out of paint. They said no. She tried again until Ryan gave her some good advice. What would that be? Does it work? To answer these and your own questions you get to do the best thing of all, listen/read. Yipee!! This is a great story with cute illustrations. This would be a great bedtime storybook or an anytime story book. I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited website and so can you.
A beautiful story to teach the children that they shouldn’t be afraid of being like they are. It’s not good to pretend to be someone else, because that is a kind of lie and nothing positive will ever come from a lie.
This is a fun story about a unicorn named Lucy who tries to fit in with the other animals. Her best friend, Ryan, encourages her to be herself which turns out to be the best solution. Highly recommend for kids 4 and up.
