Inspiring story but haphazardly stranded together. Some sections felt like random segues and could have been done without. Should have also elaborated a bit more on how the marathons inspired many. The last 40 pages seemed like they were done in haste. A one-siting read with decent drawings to match.
"Grit: The Major Story" and Major Devender Pal Singh. It sounds like a compelling and inspiring biography, showcasing Major Singh's resilience, determination, and accomplishments despite facing significant challenges, including the loss of a limb during the Kargil War.
The book appears to offer a glimpse into Major Singh's journey, highlighting not only his achievements as an athlete but also his contributions to empowering individuals with disabilities through his non-profit organization, The Challenging Ones (TCO). The narrative seems to emphasize the importance of a positive attitude, courage, and community support in overcoming adversity.
Amazing read. Simple and inspiring for even 10 year olds. For all who dont know Major DP Singh, this is a must read as it shows his journey and inspires that despite all challenges, how he overcomes them. I have had the privilege of seeing Major DP Singh in a lit fest and it inspired me to no end.
For all who already know 'DP', this just reinforces the belief in oneself that one can do whatever one imagines.
Major DP Singh is an inspiration. This books teaches us that not everyone and everything is perfect. Embracing it is very important. Understand, accept and move ahead. Need help...ask for help. Life is hard. For some it is worse. But friends and good people make it easy. Good read also a good book for all age groups

It is a story of valour and perseverance. But above all, it is a celebration of the human spirit. We are capable of so much more than we can imagine. All we need to do is believe in ourselves.
A quick read and an inspiring story. It is a graphic book. Book is good but if you get to listen to Major’s speech it is far more inspiring than a book.
Great book in terms of the way it is written / illustrated. The book loses its plot a bit during the part of life of recovery in the hospital The book eventually becomes a bit of a drag when it’s expected to talk more about grit. However having nitpicked enough, this book is inspirational to anyone of any age. Even a 1 year old can make sense of it and learn from it. Even a slow reader can finish this in well under and hour
Let me start by saying I love reading Graphic Novels. So when there's one on the shelf that's written by an Indian author, my curiosity is peaked. I pick up this book unaware of the premise and uninfluenced by any public opinion or marketing. Not going to lie, the cover and the subtitle are enough to tell you about what's in there.
So I start reading the book and its black and white, with clean sketches that bring a very familiar sense, kind of like deja-vu. The graphics have a likeness to 90s cartoons rather than the comics. The story here, starts with the early days of Major DP Singh, who if you haven't guessed already, is the protagonist of the story. The telling of old days along with the black and white drawings, creates this feeling of watching flashbacks in movie.
Lets jump to the story. So this book is about the inspirational life of "India's first blade runner" and showcases the circumstances and events that led to beloved specially abled protagonist. So as we go through his childhood, school days, army exams, struggles and family relations, it slowly builds an intricate web of decisions, situations and people who all culminated into the person he is today.
Interestingly there are sections that are in color. Now some people may notice this, some may not. but the switch from black and white to color and black, is used in a genius way to show the state of mind of Singh. You can almost feel the colors when he says "The best experience of my life has been at the academy". Kudos to that!
The writing is pretty simple. Which actually serves the purpose fully. This book with its graphic medium, is aimed at a large audience, be it a 10 year old kid who loves comics or a 45 year old who is going through a crisis and could really use some inspiration.
Overall, the book is a great medium for delivery of Major DP Singh's life story and a great 1 hour read. And not be sound biased but also something that brings joy and sense of pride along with it.
P.S. the 1 star off is due to briefness of it. I would have loved to know much more about the recent years and his life with the prosthesis and motivational work, which is but only last third of the book.
What an inspiring story, what a journey! And it's released right after the removal of article 370 in Kashmir, which I think is perfect timing. It covers many aspects of life such as the Major's emotions as a child longing for his parents' love, the perseverance to achieve his goals, an army life little known to the outside world, and his strength and fight to overcome against all odds. As he says “The time spent in resisting and blaming things that don’t occur as per your expectations, is time wasted. Life is much more than that, embrace the change and make the best of what you have. That is where the progress lies,” I could not agree more. This book was very inspiring indeed and brings hope to many people. Thanks for making this book.
Just open the book and you will finish it one sitting. What an impactful life story of Major DP Singh. The graphics were simple yet relevant by Sriram Jagannathan. Kudos to this 1 hour Grit-o-dp-cin.
