Wednesday night “family dinners” have been a tradition among Adrian, Simon and Minerva for years. Though none of them are related, Minnie insists that her childhood friend and college roommate are the best and only family she needs. The catch? Adrian and Simon despite each other. However, they both love their friend, Minerva, so they endure. Then Adrian and Simon receive a vague, slightly ominous message from Minnie. She texts them saying that “family dinner” is canceled for the foreseeable future. Knowing Minnie as well as they do, Adrian and Simon are understandably surprised. Adrian, an investigative journalist, decides to take matters into his own hands. He is convinced that something nefarious is going on. Unwilling to leave his best friend’s fate in the hands of an idiot, Simon realizes he had better tag along. Now Adrian and Simon must work together to find out what is going on with their friend. In the process, will Adrian and Simon realize that they are more alike that either one ever imagined? Will friendship or more develop? Or will their dislike of each other blind them to their destinies. Please This book contains adult language ane steamy adult activities, it is intended for 18+ Adults Only. Max Hudson just keeps getting better with his books. Another type story I love; a woman whose has two best friends that she tried to set them up with a blind date, but one hated the other immediately and made it known to his blind date. Even long after she introduced her childhood friend, Simon, to her other best friend Adrian the two men only feed off each other with teasing and bickering.
But they are family and both endure each other for their best friend, Minerva for years. They never have had a Wednesday night “family dinners”. But this one Wednesday night dinner everything was off. Minerva (Minnie) wasn’t home, and she should be because last week she had texted to bring a bag of apples. Though both friends had received a vague, suspicious text saying the weekly dinners would be canceled for the foreseeable future.
The Journalist that Adrian was, breaking into places and questioning things that seen suspicious; nothing felt right about this. Simon felt different and didn’t feel they should be involved. But after much bickering Simon caved and agreed to Adrian’s plans.
Simone was harder to convince that Minnie could possibly be in danger. Adrian searched upstairs, but his mind was on the other man that was standing guard and Adrian runs into the end of Minnie’s bedroom door. He hit it so hard he fell backwards and felt dizzy. What was funny about it was Simone came to Adrian’s rescue with an umbrella in his hand. Adrian just had to say something that made Simon blush.
This was such a great story as the two men find out they were more attracted to each other than they were willing to admit at first. But as they sat side-by-side going over the “evidence” for hours. It was three in the morning when they gave up and Simon stayed over at Adrian’s for the night. A too small couch for Simon’s tall body ended up with the two sharing Adrian’s bed.
Honestly, this is a really good book as the mystery unfolded and the two men grew closer and finally gave into their feeling. They discovered there was more there than they thought and by the time the mystery was solved when Minnie showed up, the two were inseparable. This was a wonderful book with a wonderful HEA. This book has a scenario that is one of my favorites. Simon and Adrian are stunned when their friend, Police detective Minerva, disappears and is not at home for their traditional Wednesday evening dinner. Feeling something is wrong, Adrian convinces the much bigger Simon that they should investigate her disappearance. Simon is not used to danger and Adrian has a way of making light of a situation. The men aggravate one another and I takes a lot for Simon to give into Adrian's ideas, but finally the two start to work together and then start showing their true feelings for each other. A really good story with tension, stress, angst, fear and two bumbling men who want to find their friend. An Hea greets us at the end. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
different for me. enemies to lovers with a bit of friendship. I think that the story was decently written with interesting characters and maybe a little bit of mystery combined. I think it was enjoyable.
