I have read Ms. Blue’s Romanian Mob Chronicles, the Irish Mob Chronicles, The Syndicate, Men Who Thrill and this Dark and Dangerous series. I have loved them all, and I enjoyed the thrilling ride in this book. I really loved Janelle’s character. She was a nice, honest person who ran a soup kitchen and willing to lend a hand to those in need. In short, she had a beautiful spirit. For once, the black heroine was not gorgeous, did not have hazel eyes or hair down her back. Instead, Janelle is relatable and she has a charming character.
Viktor, on the other hand, is a contract killer. He was paid to retrieve something from her and kill her. Somewhere along the line, she got under Viktor’s skin and began to break down the walls surrounding his heart. This is a simplification of the essence of the story, but it should suffice if the reader is into these type of stories. There is violence and really hot sex in the book, none of which I found gratuitous.
The reason I did not rate this book higher is because there were major editing problems that I don’t believe were present in her previous books. This fact greatly disappointed me. I hope the next book has better editing. In fact, I think this book should be re-edited and reissued.
I loved Viktor and Janie's story. This author is a go to when I want romance with a little extra.Viktor intrigued me in the last book, so I was very happy to get his story. The part when she was in the torture room with Viktor and Smith....I was barely breathing reading that lol. This author is really really good at writing dangerous guys with heart.
This book was not what I was hoping or even thought about. I did read description for the book and it was not what the story was about. I could have been an error.
I really hoped that Viktor would have been the hero but in fact it was Etienne and Janelle. After all this, we didn’t even get to know what was on the disc? Silly. I had high hopes that they, together would have been able to exact some sort of revenge on whoever wanted to kill her and kill Angel but nothing liked that happened. The book felt kind of flat. First of all who falls in love in 3 days? It’s unrealistic. Then, we didn’t get to know him, know exactly how Viktor got into the kind of job he is doing now and what were his plans now that he is with Janelle. Also given who Ivan is why not go to him instead of staying in a safe house? A lot of unanswered questions
I'm enjoying this series, but this might be my favorite so far. Bad guy, good girl, rotten luck, heck of a change of plans...It all makes for an exciting, sexy story. The chemistry between these two, it gave me that extra something I love when reading books where action/adventure is a big part of the storyline. Yep, I enjoyed this one a lot.
All in until the end, then I turn the page there is the epilogue and it is worse than the last pages. What was that, it fell short. Victor and Janelle agreed to stay together, was it as simple as that? Viktor just walked away from the life that he had been living? Did Janelle give up the soup kitchen? Were there anymore attempts on their life?
Great book! Viktor and Janelle had a very intense, action packed romance. I love books by this author. I have always been an action, thriller junky, so to have that in a romance novel is clutch!
