It's kinda weird. A couple of weeks ago I only had read a few books in this series, today I've been reading the pre-last book of the basic twelve stories already. I'm glad there are some sequels out there and another series on the way. I need and crave these stories at the moment. It helps to escape the outside world and everything that's going on there.

I have to admit that at first this story felt a little weird. The mythology was hard to follow and didn't always make sense. Therefore it was not that easy to lose myself in the story from the start. However, the more I read the more I started to understand at least the gist of it and the more I started to appreciate the characters, the plot and the emotion journey the characters were having.

Because I think the discovering of the mating bond, the dealing with it and the acceptance of it were really well done and felt natural. Especially because the relationship between these characters was far from likely and normal. It was nice to see them questioning it, doubting it, not knowing if they were gonna accept it, slowly realizing not trying it would be worse and then going for it. The build up was very nicely done.

And although I couldn't really connect with the guys, because they really felt a little "out of this world" and "different", I could connect with Emerald. I know the feeling of being in your thirties and not knowing if you really have life figured out. I understood her feeling of not being good enough because of her scars and I understood why eventually she took the leap and just gave it a try. And I love how she really tried to be nice, but ran away when she didn't trust it. It was a very mature reaction. Despite the outcome.

So, after some initial confusion I warmed up to the story and these characters and I'm sure that when I do a reread of this series I will appreciate the beginning of this story more too.

As usual this author dazzles us with her imagination when it comes to aliens. This tile she dragged us to Silver Springs where 3 alien krakens are waiting for Emerald without knowing it. After a shi**y day and a spelled spiced pumpkin latte, Emerald practically lands in their lap. Of course finding your life mates isn't a dance on Roses.

This is a stand-alone in the Jewels Cafe universe that you don't want to miss. Just imagine 3 hot, but slightly clueless about human behaviour aliens and a human with no knowledge about the supernatural world around her. Absolutely yummy!

Cute story

Cute story about emerald and her newfound alien guys. Another good addition into the Jewels Cafe world. Love stand-alones in shared worlds because they give me a chance to discover new authors.

A Disappointment in a Jewel of a Series

I have enjoyed this series of books so far, but this story just didn’t work for me. First of all, the number of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors were very distracting. I am surprised by this issue since all of the previous books were proofread and well written. The story’s link to the Jewels Cafe was cursory at best. The cafe is featured in the beginning and the end of the story, and other than the characters bitching about the cafe owner’s unwanted meddling and failures in spells and witchcraft, no other characters in the Silver Springs town interact with this story’s characters. Yes, each book is a standalone, but the previous books all have recurring characters and great continuity.
The author was really verbose on some details of the alien males and their world - but other aspects were vague or even conflicting with previous explanations. I am still scratching my head over a few things in the book that just didn’t make any sense to me. There is a serious lack of romance in the story and only one sex scene at the very end of the book. The epilogue was pointless, giving no indication of what the future held for the group and ended with “We’ll be watching...”
Overall, this story is not a good fit for the Jewels Cafe series. The story didn’t seem well thought out, had major proofreading and editing problems, and just wasn’t romantic - a disappointment for the reverse harem genre that I love to read. I suggest skipping this book and checking out the rest of the books in this series.

This is my favourite of the series. Follows the series pattern and has multiple POVs. This time though it’s sci-fi! Sweet and a little funny. The most straight forward of the series. I loved the MC with her little Viking fishy funeral, I loved the guys. Most of all I enjoyed the lack of sex and how meaningful it was. Virgin aliens. Soo good. The epilogue was different as well which was fun.

Cute as pie

I’ve been following this series as the books come out and love them all the only downside I find to this one was that the MC just accepted it all the romance portion seemed to be lacking but apart from that I found the story to be charming and adorable

It’s okay

The premise is interesting. The character development is reasonable, so far as it goes. There are a huge number of unexplained incidents and loose ends (were-panthers, cafe-interactions, alien revival process, options for potential offspring all left unexplored and unexplained). The romance is okay until the very abrupt ending with cliched descriptions of sex, only, with needles.

I would have preferred it without the religious bigotry. The author demeans all forms of religious belief except for Mother Nature worship, which is based on an alien misunderstanding. Then, the author goes out of the way to demean and deride Christian beliefs in One Trinitarian God using specifically Christian song lyrics and attempts to diminish the day of Christ’s birth. The heroine respects the religious beliefs of the heroes and they go out of their way to disregard her religious beliefs. They won’t even say Merry Christmas, even though it’s her heritage and a holiday her family celebrates. It’s not very respectful of her culture. Minus one star for religious bigotry.

The author also, ironically, derides funds spent on entertainment, which helped most of us get through over a year of COVID-19 lock downs and mandatory quarantines. I think entertainment is a valuable commodity for a community, as long as it focuses on producing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Minus a star for creepy sex with needles. I’m not taking off any other stars because no one violated the heroine’s consent, abused her physically, or patronized her sexually.

The Pearl and Violet books in this universe are good and this one is okay.

Fun series of stand alone books in a shared universe with a little bit of character cross over.

Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

They were my three good things… and I was the good thing they had been waiting for.

This book is indeed a rare gem to the ones I've read so far. We are now aware of human and alien attractions. Emerald did not know what she was going to do when she lost her housekeeping management job at a hotel. Packing all she owned, she started driving, not knowing where she was headed. Car trouble brings her to Silver Springs and Jewels Cafe. Little did she know, her entire life was about to change, and that drinking the pumpkin spice latte would bring her to a beautiful bed and breakfast as well as three gorgeous men. A great unique twist to the Silver Springs library!

Very different to others in the series

So the thing that makes this book stand out amongst the rest of the series is that it doesn't technically feature a supernatural cast of characters. Instead it's a human and three aliens. I really enjoyed the amount of depth that went into creating the aliens design, culture, and traditions. I felt that Emerald fell for them a bit quickly after discovering what they were, but honestly that's to be expected in a novella. This is a fun romance with a great sci-fi twist!

The Edition I did read had editing issues. However, it was an interesting take on Aliens and this community. It was a bit hard to read that they talked 'down' on all the sups because they were superior. I do wish some of their alien terms were more defined. I did feel some of the transitions were a bit choppy.

However, all that being said I still really enjoyed this book. It was a fun quick read that was easy to get lost into.

Absolute must read

I didn’t think I’d like this book because of the whole alien thing 👽 but this is one of my favorite books I’ve read in this series. Emerald has had a crappy day first her pet fish dies then she gets fired from a job from “friends” she taking a pay cut to help them out them her car breaks down. The she meets three handsome brothers and that’s when the real fun begins.

All in all a great book. From the rest of the books in this series, I would have expected a bit more interaction with some of the characters from the series in general.
The alien part of it all was well thought off, but it might have suited a completely stand-alone book more. I know the whole series is based on stand-alone books, but they do all interact in some way still - not just through the PSL from the cafe.
Not the best book in the series, but I believe it's worth a read through.

Aliens!!!!

Emerald is a human. He let fish died and she lost her job and her home. So she decides to pickup from New York and heads out then car dies. She is just 5 miles from Silver Springs and she finds the Heels Cafe and drinks the notorious spiced pumpkin latte. Once that happens she noticed three brothers who run a bed and breakfast. They are Alzagi aliens Chryso, Max and Vesuz. It not all smooth sailing, but does have a happy ending.

Alien mermen?

I thought this book was going to be a "wow is me"book. Emerald losing her job and her car messing up had her feeling pretty bad. Especially since it was her birthday. But she finds Silver Springs and it's special inhabitants. When she meets Maw, Vesuv, and Chrysler she realizes she is where she is to be.
I was very entertained reading this Jewels Cafe story. You will be too.

Such an awesome book!
I love how diverse all the novels are in the Jewels Cafe series! Each author adding their own mark on this shared world, yet most of them flow together in-sync.
This was a great story by the author and I am hoping that there will be another book released to showcase what their future holds in store.

Aliens

Jade Walz has written a believable alien on Earth romance that will make you think. Emerald loses almost everything and goes on a road trip to figure out what's next. Follow along as she discovers that the world around is isn't always as it seems and you sometimes have to let go of your beliefs to find the blessings right in front of you.

Emarald and her three 👽 mates

This was a new experience for me, reading alien romance with human. Usually, I am used to them only in sci-fi and the paranormal romance I prefer are the ones involving vampires, werewolves, witches, faes etc. Even if this wasn't my type of read I am glad that I read.

Was good

It was good but not as punchy as some in the series. I think there was too much inner narrative than actual dialogue and there was too much information on the aliens and their ways and not enough of romance

There's a huge difference between being sassy and being disrespectful, and between being interested on someone/being horny and being deviant.
I'm having a really difficult time finding books where those lines aren't crossed.

Good alien romance.I must admit I was quite intrigued at what the bubble dance entailed because it was mentioned quite a bit. This was different from most alien romances as usually they involve abduction by the aliens so for it to stay on our home planet was a refreshing and pleasant change
