Why did I wait so long to start reading Drew A. Lennox!?!?!
As an author of BDSM romance and erotica, his books have been on my radar for a while and I finally took the plunge with Affliction!
I love stories where a character with emotional scars finds healing, so I loved Liam’s character. Caught in a viscous cycle of work, alcohol, and meaningless one night stands, he’s fed up with feeling numb and is craving physical pain as an outlet. A local BDSM club looks like the perfect answer. And it was. It just wasn’t the instant gratification he thought he’d find.
Here’s where Drew A. Lennox’s storytelling really won me over with his realistic portrayals of meeting the club owner and attending munches with club members before ever getting to experience the club where he meets Ava, an experienced Domme.
I loved that Liam’s introduction to the lifestyle didn’t instantly start with a scene at the club. Ava begins as a mentor of sorts, slowly getting to know Liam and what he hoped to get out of experiencing physical pain, helping him tame his bad habits and get some structure in his day to day life.
Liam balked at some of her assignments and rules and failed on some occasions. His punishments weren’t with canes or paddles, but writing lines and other assignments that made him look within himself. Submission didn’t come easy for him but in addition to his attraction to Ava, he trusted her. He opened old wounds and began to truly heal.
The chemistry between them was palpable from the start but intensified over time, turning to pure fire as they took their relationship to the next level.
Affliction is a slow burn but does not lack heart or heat in any way. The mental and emotional bond between Liam and Ava only made their physical connection even hotter.
If you’re searching for realistically written BDSM romance, check out Drew A. Lennox! I’m on my third book of his in less than 2 weeks and totally hooked!
