Rate this book
Joanne dreams of meeting the perfect man, a man she will love deeply and who will love her deeply in return. A man who will satisfy both her heart and all her physical desires. No man has come close. Worse, none of the men Joanne has been with, no matter how much chemistry they shared, were able to satisfy all of her needs. Traveling a path of self discovery, and guided by her inner sensuality, she undertakes a thrilling experiment to solve her challenging dilemma in a unique way. Though she comes to accept her unconventional approach, it leaves her wanting—and needing—more. When a man comes into her life who may be the key to her ultimate dream, Joanne is forced to learn there is a price to pay for wanting to have it all. Join Joanne, and the men in her life, on a journey that goes beyond discovery, into the deepest recesses of fantasies old, new, and unforeseen. The Vixen is the best entry point into the Allure of the Vixen series.

Brilliant volume. Part of a series. Beautiful plot that develops the mind as well as the characters. Terrific descriptive prose - especially the erotic scenes. C. C. delves into the minds of Joanne, Phillip and Preston. Each so different but each so powerful in their own way. This is a classy examination of Joanne, the Vixen, growing into her self. Her understanding of her inner self and her needs. Beautiful plot. Beautiful characters. Both so well Developed. Terrific descriptive prose that takes us into the lifestyle through the Vixen, the Stag and their Bull. Can’t wait for the next book. Great author. Great book. Five white hot pulsing, shooting stars.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

WOW - What a book. C.C. Morian is remarkably insightful when it comes to characters.

The Vixen is the prequel to two other books in this Allure of the Vixen series: The Husband and The Lover.

If you have read any of the books in this series, you will know that Joanne is a very sensual lover with varied interests. She has a unique set of “rules” for managing her lovers and her husband. In previous books, we didn’t learn why she has these rules, or why she holds so firmly to them.

This book – The Vixen – shows Joanne as she is, and what she thinks. It also shows the events and characters that helped her become who she is. And it goes a long way in explaining why she is the way she is.

It is a thoughtful, exciting and insightful exploration of one woman’s character and how that character developed. It’s also a good exploration of other characters, illustrating how varied people are in their interests and appetites.

There are a number of books published today that explore how individuals, in marriage “self-actualize”. In these books (and well highlighted in a book entitled “The All or Nothing Marriage” by Eli J Finkel), there are thoughtful discussions and analyses of how one can be true to oneself while at the same time being true to a partner(s). The Vixen is not a cliff-hanger, yet at the end of this book, Joanne is faced with the dilemma of how to continue to be true to herself while she is drawn to her eventual husband Phillip.

In some of this author’s books, reviewers have felt the stories developed too slowly. That’s certainly not the case with this book - it jumps right in with both feet.

This is Joanne’s story. Given that the other two books are not from Joanne’s point of view and she has been an enigma, this book fills in important elements of the follow-on stories.

For me to give a top rating, a book has got to be well written, have excellent character development, be insightful (leaving me with things to think about) and have a good story. This book is so exceptionally strong in these areas, I can’t help but give it a solid 5 stars. And of course, the sex is HOT!

I hope you enjoy it. Once I let the intensity of this book settle out, I look forward to reading it again at a more leisurely pace.

Note: an Epilogue is available from the author by signing up at her website. It’s a continuation of the story of The Vixen and is a great tie-in to The Husband. It examines the angst Joanne feels, being torn between Love and, as she describes it, Chemistry (sexual attraction). In this Epilogue, Joanne puts herself in a make or break situation with Phillip. You will need to read The Husband to find out how Phillip deals with this situation and how he becomes The Husband.

I don't know why I put off reading this book. I loved it!

I read and enjoyed the first two books in this series, The Lover and The Husband. I couldn't wait for more to come out. I snapped up The Vixen and The Bull when they came out last fall, then they sat in my tbr pile.

If you've read the other books in this series, you have to read this one. If you haven't read them and you're interested in reading about free-spirited women, read this one first.

Joanne, the lead character in this series, is certainly free-spirited. She follows the inclinations of her body, always seeking "chemistry" with a man and never regretting it. That doesn't mean she knows what she wants -- not at first. She wants chemistry. She wants a man who is good at everything in bed. She wants love and companionship. Ideally, she'd like all of that in one man. This is the story of how Joanne develops her "rules" for relationships.

It's great to read Joanne's backstory and hear it in her own words. She is somewhat enigmatic (but compelling) in the other books. There's a lot of hot sex, too, of course.

There's also a subplot about Joanne's coworker Rebecca, a married woman who meets an intimidating biker, Nash, at a coffee shop. That story will be developed more in The Bull. I'll be reading that one next.

I can't wait for the next book in the series, The Wife.
