Bear, a Seminole Native American, was sent to the Cherokee mountains to see if he could locate his cousin Alligator. He found him and noticed all the beautiful women there. He asked Alligator’s wife Stream if she knew of any maidens that would be interested in him. Stream took him to meet a beautiful maiden named Young Beaver. He fell in love with her at first sight. He gives her father the bride price of one horse which her father gave to her. She would have a horse to ride to her husband’s village in south Florida. Young Beaver is curious about the village that she is about to move to. She asks Bear to tell her about it. He tells her of the houses they live in that are called chickee. He also tells her about a fierce animal in the swamp called an alligator. She is confused thinking that he is talking about like his cousin who she knows is a good man. When he explains that it is a bad animal that eats dogs and people, she is terrified. She is ready to go home to the mountains. Can Young Beaver be happy in this strange village that has a monster that eats people? To what lengths will Bear go to keep his wife in his village? Are they going to get a happy ever after of will Young Beaver leave?

Bear ,of the Seminole People

This was a good book with a very good story line,it tells about a mixed Native American couple ,and their adjusting to life together.
