Alpha's Capture

Rate this book
Captured. Caged. Tortured.

Alpha warrior Khalil and his elite team are tasked with babysitting the princess and her entourage on a peacekeeping mission, a complete waste of their talents. But when the enemy infiltrates their space ship, Khalil and his warriors find themselves closer than ever to the front line of battle.

Determined to break free, they would exact their revenge on their enemy and save the honor of the princess and her entourage. That is, until the enemy unveils their greatest weapon, a drug named Fragment. With the threat of their mind being shattered while being driven into a crazed heat, Khalil can't help but see the vibrant eyes of Zahara begging him to help her. Those eyes had taunted him to ravage her even before the evil drugs coursed through him.

But Fragment had one surprise none of them could possibly predict.

Being honorable was no longer an option. The omega was his, and he would fight for her to the death.

I liked the blurb.
Started reading a few pages...
Sounded good and interesting.
Then I checked for following books, as it stated it is a series, before continuing reading.
Don’t get me wrong, I like series very much.
Still, I am one of the readers that is waiting till a series is completely published before i really get into it.
Well, the following books aren’t published yet, so it would have been a no-brainer to wait.

BUT then I noticed the first “book” is only 76 pages long!!

The insolence of it.

Hell NO.

Author Livia Grant is known for pushing the envelope and making readers squirm with her erotic romance. Writing her first science fiction romance as Livia Bourne she holds nothing back. A group of vile aliens find amusement in sexually torturing females to death. They capture a spacecraft full of Alpha male warriors and female betas to use as entertainment in their Roman Gladiator style games, having developed a secret drug to force the honorable Alphas to attack and rape the females. Alpha's Capture is like a scary movie that forces you to cover your eyes--then peek through your fingers because you have to watch. It's brutal, but brilliantly executed.

Wow, hot, dark, dangerous and an absolutely captivating start to this series

Alpha's Capture is written by Black Light author Livia Grant. This is obviously her much darker, more salacious side! For those who like to know, this book does end in a cliffhanger, and what a doozy of one it is. I'm not sure when the next book is due but I NEED IT NOW!

For a first time foray into the world of sci-fi Ms Bourne did a very admirable job of world building and scene setting. She has created her own version of an omegaverse, one that definitely had it's own flavour. It isn't until writing my review that I realise we didn't have a detailed description of the Gradonian race. I presumed a very human-like appearance and am happy with that assumption.

This is a shorter read, being of novella length, but already I feel I know Zahara and Khalil quite well. Excellent character development also ensured that I started to build a connection with Onxy, Thrash and Avincent. The writing, as always, flows really smoothly and the plot was very engaging. Good pacing held my attention and reading this story felt so easy, there was no struggle to know who was speaking or to follow the story.

I am 100% hooked by this new world the author created and will now be pestering and stalking her until she has written more books in the series! Just a warning though - this is MUCH darker than her Livia Grant work, including some scenes of non-consent and very dubious consent, proceed with caution and enjoy!!!!

WOW!!! What did I just read???? I'm fairly new to the Omegaverse world but this book just blew me away!! There is a cliffhanger but with this story, I don't care. Khalil is the main character and I just fell for him. I can't wait to read the next book!!!

Gobsmacked
I am utterly gobsmacked. There is a reason that this author is one of my favorites. I knew that she was a talented writer because each book she writes gets better and better. However, This book just took her to a WHOLE new realm. Had I not known better, I would have thought this was her normal sub-genre that she writes in because it is one of the best I have read in the Omegaverse world which I don't say lightly because there are some strong contenders in who is the best in this category.

The world building was exceptional. The story itself was unlike anything I had read before. She made me want to understand the characters and what their backstory was. The story was beyond intense and what these characters went through was horrific. Yet, even as unsettling as it was it also fed my dark soul and my interest was beyond piqued. Even as intense as the story was, I still was curious as to how these characters would survive and what the ramifications would be when they did.

This is not a story that is sugar and spice and everything nice. There is a level of depravity here that will make a lot of people offended (Not me, Bring on the dark and twisted) so that needs to be known before this book is read. I would hope though that most people reading Omegaverse would already be aware of that before venturing into reading this book. There was nothing comforting about this story unless I focus on the connection and hope that these characters can escape and what the future holds. Yet, it is there that lies my desire to know more and why this book is as exceptional as it is. She created a story that was not only well written but had the potential for so much more. I could see some aspects of her BDSM writing style and that thrilled me because I live for all the details that she adds to make her stories have cohesiveness and clarity.

I might have cussed out loud when this portion of the book ended because I was most assuredly not ready for this story to be over. It ended on a WHOPPER of a cliffhanger. I need the next book like I need air. Kudos to the author for knocking this one out of the park. She rendered me speechless which anyone that knows me is virtually impossible.

edit: I know I shouldn't stir the pot anymore, but in light of the MD Pentacles reveal that she's Myra Danvers, here's my question to the author: Did you contact just Myra just for the editorial reviews? And she decided to give you a couple (one as M. Danvers and one as Pentacles)? Or did you contact each pseud independently? lol jk ;) I haven't seen these types of pen name shenanigans in awhile, btw. (Back in the day male romance writers would create a bunch of pseuds and sometimes give themselves double editorial reviews.)

Anyway Livia Grant is a talented writer. I'm not fond of this trend of authors doing long Omegaverse RH serials with year long waits between 76 page books; especially when the authors are not forthright with their readers about the # of installments they plan for the series. When this series is complete I'll give it a try.

Note to self: this looks like a smutty reverse harem Omegaverse, and "book 1" is only 76 pages long. Easy pass. Plus it's an unfinished series, and it looks like it will be a serial. No timeline provided or information on how many books will be in the series.

Is it too much to ask for that information? I really appreciate it when authors take the time to write a substantial Omegaverse book and are respectful to readers by providing information about the series (how many books in the series, the length (short story, novella, full length), etc.

I have a love/hate relationship with serials. I love to read them, I love to get a new one, I hate when I'm done reading them and have to wait for the next one. And this new serial is no different. I'm already dying for the next book.

I love the Omegaverse, and I can't wait for it to get into full swing in this series, because what we've seen of it so far looks really good. The nice thing about Omegaverse is that there aren't really any hard and fast rules, outside of what makes the AU that AU, so each author gets to put their own particular spin on it, and I like what Livia Bourne has done.

I think Khalil and Zahara are both really interesting characters, and it will be fun to watch their journey, as well as that of Onyx, Avincent, and Thrash. I think Thrash's journey may be slightly different, but I don't know yet. I kinda hope not, because I kinda like him, so we'll have to see.

I really can't wait for the next one.

I read this with the knowing it's the start of a new series meaning it would end in a cliffhanger. The Gradonians are on a simple peace mission when they are suddenly taken over by the feared Trakonians through chemical means. The Trakonians intend to use the Gradonians as test subjects to see how well their new drug Fragment affects their species. We got to meet Zahara, Khalil, Onyx and Thrash among others that I assume will be main characters in the next of this series. Alpha's Torture should continue with the new drug and it's affects on our main characters who's only hope looks to be escape if only their rescue is accomplished in time, before they die from the drugs or the side affects that cause them to turn on their fellow prisoners.

Ms. Bourne takes the reader on one earth shattering experience.
This is her first delve into sci-fi and she blew it out the water!
She delivers Alpha noble warriors and deviant Aliens.
In this book we are introduced to Commander Khalil Khan and his crew.
They are escorting the Princess and her entourage and the beautiful Zahara.
When they are taken captive they are about to live a very real horrific nightmare.
It ends in one jaw dropping heart pounding cliffhanger.
This story is intense!
It’s a no holds bar on dark and gritty.
And I can’t wait to read more!

Tension, heat, and no relief. Yes there a a cliffhanger, but boy are we headed for a wild journey if book one is any indication. This is the author’s first venture into the omegaverse and she is setting it on fire. My stomach is still in knots with the tension and my imagination is running wild at the possibilities. I’m on the edge of my seat in anticipation and will be dropping everything on release day to find out what happens next. Great writing, great world building, I’m hooked!

Wow, what a book to come out of the starting gate! Sexy, primal, and oh-so moreish by anyone's standards, Alpha's Capture will lure you into the sci-fi world of Livia Bourne where Alphas and Omegas are pitted against one another in a sexy battle for the entertainment of alien overlords. This is not the basis of the whole book, I have to add, but I can't wait for book 2 to see how the author writes our intrepid heroes out of their unfortunate situation!

Good start to the story but I absolutely loathe cliff hangers and this one has a doozy without even a release date for the next. The blurb on Amazon doesn't even warn you or give any hint that it has a cliff hanger.

WOW! This new series, by an author who in new to this trope, starts off with an actual bang and the excitement doesn't stop. It is the first book and has a cliffhanger (there's the warning to all of those who don't like cliffhangers) that left me breathless. If you haven't read any Omegaverse stories then you need to know that there are a few things that are standard to this world, but you might need to search it because the Zon Gods can get offended if the review isn't clean enough. There are not many things that are clean about theses stories.

Because this is a first story in a series the book spends a lot of time setting up the characters, plot, and the rules in her world. That doesn't mean there isn't any sexiness. The whole story is sexy. It's also adventurous, full of dangers and excitement, sexy men, a strong independent woman, and a bad guy that you want to kill instantly. The heat level is off the charts! I felt like I was holding my breath during parts of this one and the end sort of smacked me in the face because I wasn't paying attention to where I was in page count. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

I absolutely loved the content, it was brutal! However, a book should take longer than an hour to read. This "chapter" was added to my wish list in 2019. I do that so when I'm ready to read, the rest of or at least more of the series is ready. This chapter left you on the edge of the cliff and where's the rest of the "chapter"? If you're going to write a book, write a book. If you're writing is good, people will buy. The only reason I can see for these very short (what I call chapters because they're too short to be a novella) with cliff hangers is to make money. Sorry but I'm not buying, unless I'm getting my money's worth with the entire book. Thank God for Kindle Unlimited, I can add this read to the junk pile because I hate waiting for the next release. It's a shame too because I really loved what I've read so far of the story. Most authors are too afraid to get so brutal and I love it.

Captivating Alpha’s...

OMG this book is on fire....
This is the first Omega-verse story by Livia and it’s has a raw, edgy feel to it and was a smoking hot read..
In another universe we have Alpha’s, warriors who lead, protect and rule...the most dominant, then there are the Beta’s who are more common but the rarest of them all are the Omega’s the most prized possession of the Alpha.
Khalil and his warriors are escorting a royal princess through some dangerous territory, but they are all captured, to be tortured by the enemy in games that are depraved and deadly. So they are in for a fight for their lives.
This is a short read and is part of a 4 part read so this will contain a cliffhanger...but I cannot wait for the next part

My review breakdown... Intensity level - 4, Brutality level - 5, Interest level - 4, Sexy level - 0
While Alpha's Capture is a great start to a new story, the fact that it ends in a cliffhanger, in the middle of a torture scene, after only about 70 pages makes it disappointing. The characters of Zahara, Khalil, Onyx, Thrash and Avincent are only barely introduced before they are captured, thrown into cages, drugged once again and used as entertainment to the masses of Trakonians who have developed a secret drug which allows Alphas to attack and rape the females. I am interested in where this story is going to go, but will be waiting until it is concluded before reading any further.

'Alpha's Capture' is Livia Bourne's first book in her "Caged Alpha" series and if you're expecting her safe, sane, and consensual BDSM scenes that you'd find in her Black Light books then you're going to be sorely disappointed. I think Livia Bourne is a darker, edgier side of Livia Grant. Of course, her world-building is vivid and played out in my mind throughout the story. The storyline itself was fascinating with suspense, danger, twists and turns I certainly didn't see coming, and a chemistry that is so palpable it jumps from the screen. This is a novella sized story and yet I feel like I've gotten to know Khalil and Zahara along with Onyx, Avincent, and Thrash. I can't wait to see what Livia brings us next.

This was my first read by this author and this genre. Let me say this, wow! Mind blowing! I wasn’t sure what to expect, but while it is dark, it also sizzles. The two main characters, Khalil and Zahara are both warriors in their own right until one day something happens to truly test them. Can they both survive what is about to happen? I loved the way the author describes each character with so much depth that you can actually envision what they look like. And I could feel their emotions so clearly. While this does end on a cliffhanger, I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens. Trust me, this story will take you on a wild ride!

Livia Bourne’s “Alpha’s Capture” is book 1 in a planned series and oh boy! What seems to start out as somewhat…mild…in that spending time on a space craft way, rapidly turns into a milieu of horror. And if you think that’s a bad thing, then do not start this series. But if you’re like me, one-click, and do it now. Stepping away from her contemporary writing, Ms. Bourne takes us to the blackness of space and the evilness of the Trakonians in this contribution to the omegaverse universe. It has all the vile deliciousness that comes with the omegaverse with the added “bonus” of what happens when things go from really bad to buckle-up and hold on tight.

Fantastic start to a four part Omegaverse serial. Khalil is the head of an elite squad protecting Princess Audra. We're introduced to the alpha characters, and the betas who are part of the princess' entourage. There is treachery, a ton of action, and a lot of filthy experimentation going on! I flipped through the pages of this fast-moving story, hanging onto to every word. This is the author's first Omegaverse story, and she has packed this short full to the brim. Be warned-I screamed at the last sentence, which left me hanging for the next instalment.

I received a copy of this book. My honest review is voluntarily provided.

Dark and intense from page 1. Khalil and his warriors are transporting a royal princess and her entourage and they are attacked by their worst enemy with an unknown weapon. This is the authors first foyer into this trope and it's sure to be a hit with her regular readers (like me).

It is very intense, quite a bit more than her other regular series which I love. After letting the story sit for a few days before I wrote this review, I am very interested in what will come next and how Khalil will handle Zahara and the other obstacles.

I recommend this book.

I received this advanced reader's copy in exchange for an honest review.

Warning - triggers abound. Abduction/kidnapping, confinement, abject terror, rape. Evil sadistic violent murdering aliens capture a honorable alien race. The honorable alpha warriors are caged and drugged, the females brutalized and drugged, and both are used for sadistic non-con entertainment by their captors. Sounds awful, right? But Livia's writing is so good you get sucked into the story, and even though this is a prequel novella, you quickly become invested in the characters. It is very dark omegaverse, and so far no romance to be found. This is a cringe-worthy cliff-hanger prequel and I can't wait for the next book, hoping there is some redemption coming!

Khalil is in charge of a spaceship transporting the Princess and her entourage. Zahara is not one to follow rules exactly. There is an attraction between Khalil and Zahara. It all goes wrong and the entire ship is captured by very evil men. The captured are to be experimented on with a new sex drug. Things don't go well at all. Some will die. Khalil doesn't like what's happening but when it comes to his turn he wants to claim Zahara.
Not a very nice story line. But I loved it. Very descriptive and you are propelled into the story. I cannot wait for the next in the series.

The first book in a new Omegaverse series. It is short, but very fast paced story, but since it is the first book in the series, it does end in a cliffhanger. Yes, i did yell at my ereader.

Like all books by this author it is very well written and full of amazing layered characters and there is a lot of details, but still keeps a good pace.

What kind of Omegaverse world is being created is still a bit unclear. each author give his or hers spin of it. I hope we get to know about the world more in the next book.

Wow!
This book takes no prisoners!
Oh no, it does! That's what it's all about. And it packs a real wallop!
I expected one of those nice, cozy, Big-Alien-With-A-Soft-Heart stories. But no, this series introduction promises quite a different kind of setup. There is a bunch of ugly, brutal, stinking beasts at work and right when I wanted to protest in horror about their behavior, the book ends!!!
Ms Bourne, I sincerely hope you are sitting at your computer writing the next installment of this story!
Or else!!

This is only the second Omegaverse book that I've read & since the other was a different author & a contemporary setting, I was completely unprepared for this read. This is brutal. It is harsh. It makes for very uncomfortable reading that does nothing to set me a-tingle. But, it is an interesting & original read that sucked me in right from the start, even when I didn't want to read what was happening. Be aware - this is book 1 in a SERIAL. It is not standalone & there is no HEA. Be prepared to commit to the whole series to get to the end

Good story but needs a better editor

This is a really creative author with the potential to write well. The storyline and characters are fascinating.
However, the entire book reads like a rough draft. Inappropriate and overuse of words like “nanosecond”, awkward paragraphs that need a rewrite, and grammar errors indicate the story really needs a better editor.
I kept reading because I enjoyed the story enough to rewrite those parts in my head.
So, if you do that too or are not too particular about editorial details, you’ll enjoy this fun read.

Alpha's Capture is the start of a sci fy romance series! Livia Bourne does a great job of building this world and these characters. You can't help but love Zarah for that flame of independent fierceness that burns inside her! Khalil is an honorable man that you are desperately rooting for!

This book grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let up! Even at the end Livia keeps you so engaged that you are shocked and flabbergasted when you realize you are at the end! I cannot wait for the next book! A definite fun read for this girl is new to Omegaverse! Great job Livia!!!

I enjoyed this steamy short read. An intense plot, strong characters and solid world building help to grab and hold your interest. Sizzling chemistry, drama, action, danger, excitement, intensity fill book one of four in this new serial romance. Khalil and Zahara's story is off to a to quite a start. Try to be prepare as the book does end on a cliffhanger. I can't wait to see what happens next! This is my candid revive that I am posting freely.
