A barbed wire star still sits atop a tree where it has for more then seventy years, but something is different this year. Drawn together by the love of books, an elderly widow and an army girlfriend discover that Christmas is still a time for miracles.
Jesseca is a daughter, sister, and a child of God. Her days are spent reading, cooking, spending time with siblings, or playing piano. And writing, of course! At an early age words fascinated her, and her love for the printed page has only grown. She lives with her parents and seven siblings in the sunny state of Kansas, and she’s convinced there’s no place like home.
4 stars & 4/10 hearts. Okay, so this is a really, really sweet Christmas story. It's so realistic and yet whimsical. I love the message so much. There are 2 hugs + one kiss (all undetailed), a euphemism, and also the very last section of the book is about a dead person hanging around a building and becoming a shooting star...?? I was a little confused/unsure about that, so I'll just skip over it in my rereads. But the rest of the story is so sweet and lovely and made me tear up!
