Rate this book

Her broken childhood makes Leslie desperate to properly balance her love for her family with her love for her ER nursing job.

When the loss of her husband’s business forces them to move temporarily back to his family’s farm, Leslie is terrified that once Dan is back in the fold of family and the community of Holmes Crossing, her needs will be smothered.

Then a near tragedy tests everything they both hold dear.

Start your journey to Holmes Crossing with Dan and Leslie’s story and get pulled into Terra’s, a girl with sass, spunk and a haunting secret.

Terra has spent the last few years outrunning the darkness of her past. But when she is forced to stay in Holmes Crossing past and present clash in a way that has chilling repercussions for any future she hopes to create.

After that you’ll meet Miriam who has a second chance at motherhood when she unexpectedly becomes a joint guardian of the baby she gave up. But can her rekindled relationship with Duncan, co-guardian of her daughter, withstand the accusing secrets of her past?

Even with over 1.5 million copies of my books in print, I still feel like I haven’t written the perfect story. From my office in the woods of Northern Alberta, I’ll keep trying. Three Enjoyable Christian Novels

The three stories in this collection are each standalone romances, but they have overlapping characters and are all set on the same place. It’s refreshing to read romances where you don’t have to worry about inappropriate content. It’s an added bonus that these are Christian stories.

Second Chances Romance

I received an ARC of this 3-book box set from the author, Carolyne Aarsen, and this is my voluntary and honest review. All three books in this series is a standalone but it is more enjoyable if you read them in order because people from each book are part of the books that follow. Each book centers around a couple who have pasts they are trying to put behind them and end up falling in love when they put God first. I liked book three in this set the best, because Miriam is granted guardianship of her foster brother's adopted daughter when he and his wife are killed. The twist comes when she finds out she is to share guardianship with Duncan who she dated briefly several years ago. There are a lot of questions about this arrangement and what Miriam is hiding about her past. All the questions are answered by the end of the book for a HEA ending. I love books that don't end in a cliffhanger and make me feel good. I highly recommend this wonderful box set.

What a touching set of three couples as they come together and start new lives in Holmes Crossing! Three exceptional stories of second chances, love, forgiveness, loss, pain, and other emotions that show the grace of God. Each story is unique with great characters and some heartbreaking circumstances that are surrounded with strong family and community ties in this small hometown in Canada. Very clean and sweet romances that deal with real life issues. Personally, I would recommend this series, but do have a tissue box on hand. Some very laugh out loud moments too!

This is my voluntary, honest and completely personal review.

Overall I enjoyed each of the three books as the themes of reconciliation, grace, mercy, and God’s unending love for His creation unfolded in a place that felt welcoming and healing.

There were moments where I felt the descriptions were a bit over done, however the author is well respected and perhaps that’s just a personal issue for me.

I encourage others to spend some time, with a cup of tea in the cozy corner of their favorite couch and join the community of Holmes Crossing.

Three LOOONG books -- all in one. But interesting. She took such interesting angles for all three. I suppose I could have quit after the first one and decide to wait awhile for the other two, but ... who do I think I'm kidding -- Each just warmed the spot to start the other. And yes, I would rate all 3 as 5 star material. Love shown thru in all three. And I found myself reading when I should have been occupied otherwise. Thank you Carolyn.

These books all need a good editor. The grammar leaves a lot to be desired (incomplete sentences, missing words, etc.). Content-wise they are repetitive to the point of being annoying. The plot lines are predictable for the genre. The last book comes very close to what I call "christian porn". There are lines that are not crossed but they sure to think about it a lot. I give them a three because I would not throw them in the trash but I also would not hand on to a friend.

Great stories

I chose this rating because these stories were well written, holding interest to continue reading. It was hard to stop reading, even when my eyes were tired.

I would recommend these books for anyone who enjoys a good romance that is Christian based, but also deals with realty that we all make wrong choices; but if we turn to the Lord, he will help us and be with us.

What an awesome book

I grabbed this book because it was on freebooksy. I didn't know this author, but I needed to start reading other books. I am so glad I did. I couldn't put this book down. It was the first 3 books in the Holmes Crossing series. As I read each one, they got better. This last book was with Duncan and Merriam, And Celia, who just lost her adoptive parents.. you really need to read this book to find out what happens.. but it was a great read..

Worth the read

The first two books in this series went real fast, I laughed and cried it was just like it was happening in my own family. I don't know what happened in the third book but it just dragged on, I almost stopped reading it. The first two are definitely worth the time.

Holmes Crossing

I love the way this series of books weaves together Christian romance and tragedy. My heart melted and I felt each loss as if it were happening to me. I'd get so engrossed in the story and I couldn't put the book down. I gave up many hours of sleep. Great read, especially if you are into Christian fiction. Definitely will read more books by this author.

This Place (3rd book in Holmes Crossing series)

I'm a sucker for a series. Once I read the first book I had to see where the Holmes Crossing journey goes for every main character. So far, so good.

This is a wonderful set of romances about realistic characters who are each broken and suffering in their own way, but find love and peace in God and in each other. The whole thing could use one good round of editing, but even with the minor errors it’s clearly well written.

Wow

Three very potent stories all taking place in a community that must have been built on faith and love. I couldn't read all at once, to much of a strain on the heart strings for me. I was left in a good place when I finished each one though.

Small town love

Small town, great writing. Carolyne Aarsen knows how to craft her characters. They seem living people with thoughts, feelings and individuality. Her love stories have a reality that is rare to find. I want to live in her worlds.

Finally Holme

These books had characters going through painful situations. I love how God restored and healed them, gave them another chance and brought them home to Holmes Crossing. Very well done!

Leslie & Dan's return to his hometown is almost more than she can take.

Terra's first day in town ended up with Jack arresting her.

Miriam's foster brother dies and his wife names her as guardian.

2/3 were great

I really enjoyed the 1st 2 books in this series, but the 3rd was really bad. It was a struggle to finish-- it was painfully and highly repetitive. Not sure if I will continue the series

A Christian series that shows life as we live it, real, painful and sometimes, ugly. Christian life is not all sunshine & roses but with God in our life, the burdens are bearable and the sorrows are eased.
