Word travels fast in the small town, and Becca is soon confronted by the man she’s loved since she was eight years old. Eric reveals the darkest truths of his former marriage, and just as the two begin to consider a new future, an angry Sugar Jones comes to town demanding answers.
Going Home is a story of worlds colliding, well-kept secrets, and the promise of lives forever changed.
From debut author Kelly J. Calton comes the first book in her charming Snow Globe Café series. For fans of Debbie Macomber, Carolyn Brown, and RaeAnne Thayne, readers will be happy to follow Becca Jones home to the magical, holiday obsessed town of Snow Valley.
Raised in Northwest Indiana, or "The Region" as it's called, Kelly J Calton wrote her first book, "That Darn Dog" for her first-grade young author's contest. Graduating from Robert Morris College in 2003 she continued her career in the computer industry and writing part time for magazines and blogs.
After creating a popular blog called My 30 Point life documenting the trials and tribulations experienced while losing a significant amount of weight, she decided to go back to her first love - writing fiction.
This is a cozy story with charming characters, which is exactly what I was looking for. I found myself giggling madly several times throughout the book at the things the characters said. I’m going to jump right into the second book.
Came across this during a free promotion and after reading the blurb, thought this would be a book I would enjoy. And I did. Very much. Loved the premise, the characters and setting. I was just a tiny bit disappointed at how the ending came so quickly. Overall an enjoyable story. This book also offered me the benefit of finding a new author. I’ll be downloading the second book in the series to be read next.
This book took me by surprise! A new author I figured I'd give a try and was taken back by it by the second chapter! I was sad it ended and can't wait for book 2 to come out!
Going Home: Snow Globe Café Book 1 is by Kelly J. Calton. This book is cute and easy to read. It doesn’t have any major surprises or any graphic scenes. It does have some questionable language; but only a very little. Becca Jones was returning to Snow Valley after being gone for many years. After her Father died, she and her Mother had a final argument. Her Mother had some mental problems which made her difficult to live with. Becca had run from the funeral home to a tree house where she had gone for consolation for many years. As she knew he would, Eric appeared at the tree house to comfort Becca. One thing led to another and they made love despite the fact that Eric was married at the time. When Becca found out she was pregnant, she had left town to avoid being the subject of pity and gossip. She raised Sugar on her own. To help Sugar adjust, she wrote a series of books about Beatrice the Butterfly which came to the notice of publishers and they took off. Sugar married her high school friend, Josh, who was killed in a car accident when she was five months pregnant. So another generation was raising a child as a single parent. However, Sugar had her mother and her best friend Emery to help her. Sugar was a baker and she, Emery, and Josh had set up her business online so now she just had to get her bakery and she would be living her dream. When Sugar found out where Becca had gone, she followed her Mother, thus meeting her father and half brother and sister for the first time. It wasn’t an easy meeting. Kelly makes use of the family situation to discuss family disfunction and function. She is amazing at making her characters act out all the different ways families interact and show how they manage to get over the problems or deal with accepting their differences.
This is the first book I've read by this author. I think it's also her first published book, and it shows. The premise of the story is okay, but the execution is not. The hero and heroine have been apart for 25 years, and she in fact has been hiding g a daughter from him for all of these years, but they just call right back into a relationship. Too quick, too convenient. The point of view changes at whim, not just between the hero and heroine, but including secondary characters, as well. There is some incorrect word usage. And too much of the story is "told", especially through the thought of the characters, rather than actually "lived" in front of the reader. I think this author has potential, but needs to develop her craft.

This is the story of a young woman who left her home as a young married woman only to return 26 years later with her daughter and her granddaughter only to introduce them to the love she left behind and the father of her daughter. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
A delightful holiday story with a second chance love, a secret daughter and the most adorable little girl named Violet. I’m moving on to the second in the series finding home.....I know it will be just as enjoyable.
A short, boring read with many glaring grammar errors. The story was extremely predictable, making it easy to skim through and easy to forget. I won't be reading more of these books. Pleass get an editor.
Going Home by Kelly Calton was a nice Hallmark style book. It offers the small town life with twists that I didn’t see coming. The characters and their stories were relatable, which I love. It made the book easier to read while offering growth for them as well. This is a 3 book series and I cannot wait to see where their stories take them!
Loved this story. So full of love, emotion, and new beginnings. When you realize that you have a chance at happiness after so many years, life can be hard, yet full of possibilities. Beautiful story.
What a nice surprise. This book was very enjoyable. I enjoyed all the characters and the real life situations. It was a breath of fresh air to read fictional characters having real life experiences
Fast reading. I enjoyed the characters and could see Snow Valley from the description and now want to go there too so I can experience small town life.
I really enjoyed this short story! It was so easy to paint a picture in my mind while reading. Was excited to see there was a second book when I finished.
This was a good clean book about a couple who made a mistake and years latter rectified it. I enjoyed it so much I read the whole thing before I could go to sleep.
I love a book that captures my interest from the beginning and this one did just that. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for Becca, Sugar and Emery.
This book was super adorable. Little Violet is my favorite child character and I want to visit the Snow Globe cafe! the little town seems right up my alley.
