After promoting famous musicians including Whitney Houston, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne (and others), Krishna Rose left her busy life in London to discover her true calling—to unravel the truth of the mysteries surrounding history’s most legendary and influential personalities. In her quest, she became aware of a highly protected, confidential story, and arising out of her investigation and discoveries—the idea for Woman in Red – Magdalene Speaks was born.

On a 25 year quest pursuing obscure texts and visiting archeological sites, like a miner searching for jewels, she unearthed, extracted and decoded indisputable evidence for what might be one of the most important breakthroughs in both our collective religious history, as well as our global spiritual understanding. Translating and piecing together simple truths, which are woven like fine threads of gold throughout her debut historical novel Woman in Red – Magdalene Speaks, the author throws light on the darkness of many untruths which have been glossed over for centuries.

Together with her husband and two daughters, she lives on a small farm surrounded by countryside, filling her days writing and creating music—sprinkling the world with her authentic femininity.

Woman in Red: Magdalene Speaks by Krishna Rose is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. I also researched some of the same aspects listed in this book off and on for a few years. The author researched for 25 years! I came up with some of the same ideas.
This book is not a religious book although it does describe the teachings of Jesus (Jesus) but not in a religious way. If that makes sense. I am atheist and I think everyone, religious or not, will enjoy this! The book starts as Jesu is dying on the cross. Yep, get tissues ready! This takes you into a world where it feels like you are really there due to the skillful writing.
She to this writing, we learn how women are treated, laws, the various religious beliefs, all about the soldiers, wedding ceremonies, funeral ceremonies, and so many more! Great world building!
This book's characters revolve around Jesu, Mary Magdalene, Jesu's mother Mary, their immediate families, and disciplines.
I only had one day to read this, I got it from NetGalley and then count out it was due so soon! Yikes! I read fast but this is one of those books I wanted to linger on, highlight, think through. There is a lot is wonderful lines in here. Great for introspective thoughts. May have to break down and buy it.
The first 80% of the book I loved! It was intriguing, enjoyable, enlightening, and fascinating. The last 20% was not as interesting to me at all. It may have been the subject matter. Won't share and spoil for other because they may like it. That's why I have it a 4 star and not a 5! Still wonderful! Get the book!
Love the cover! Wow!

I am spellbound!

Although I have had this book for less than a week, I am half way through.
I can not put it down. I find myself thinking about what I have read and learned so far.
This book has so far answered several questions I have had as a practicing Christian for decades.
I have posed these questions to many Ministers and none gave me plausible answers!
They say that is where faith in the scriptures is derived from!
Not to me are non answers, answers!
This book is answering them! And to my satisfaction for I feel the truth in what has been written!
I can also say I will be rereading this book many times since there is so much information it can not be retained by just reading once.
I read before going to sleep, at work when time permits!
If this book is ever available as an audio book I will also have to have it so I can listen!

Thank you Krishna Rose for finally giving Mary Magdalene her voice to tell her story!
The true story!
Mary Magdalene will never again be lost and her reputation restored to its rightful place in the world of Christian History!

Excellent read, I highly recommend this book for all sincere souls and those open minded enough to understand its significance. In this work of "fiction" the author puts herself in Mary Magdalene's shoes and gracefully carries the reader through the times before, during and after the Crucifixion of Jesus the Christ. Scattered here and there through out the narration are the real pearls of the authors research, facts that have been suppressed for 2000 years. Why was Mary Magdalene considered a prostitute by the church when there is absolutely no evidence for that conclusion. Why were the Early Christians hunted by Rome and the Sanhedrin? The author puts everything into perspective and once again the lies of centuries past are exposed. Perhaps the most valuable lessons of this book are contained in the authors keen sense of the spiritual world. She reveals Mary Magdalene's journey through the pits of hell and thankfully afterward her upward spiral through the gates of heaven. Anyone reading this book from cover to cover, is guaranteed to become a better person.

After reading so many glowing reviews I was looking forward to reading this book. I was disappointed. I found this a slog and wound up abandoning it about a third of the way through. It wasn't what I was expecting and was so difficult to read. Just not my cup of tea, as they say.

In a word, disappointing. If you have the idea, as I did, that you're going to be delving into an adventure similar to "The DaVinci Code", you are sadly mistaken. This muddle of Christian, Jewish and especially Bhuddist philosophies is confusing and dull to read. As a Christian, I am not offended by the idea that Jesus may have been married and even had children - if you believe he was fully human and fully divine, it's possible. However, this author creates a family tree that includes King Herod as Jesus' father and Joseph of Arimethea as Mary Magdalene's uncle. In her telling, Jesus survives the crucifixion and then He, Mary, and other members of the "royal family" take a journey to the Himalayas where they are welcomed by local aristocracy and religious leaders. The last half of the book focuses on Mary's vision journeys through the "Seven Veils" of hell and heaven and ends with her existence as a naked healer living alone until she dies. Not recommended.

From the time I recieved my book and opened the first page I felt that I was opening a treasure. I feel such a connection to the characters in the book, that I almost feel as if I'm living it too. The book is constantly on my mind, stirring something in me that needed waking up. Thank you Krishna Rose for putting a voice to my goddess within.

My spiritual journey has been heightened since reading this enchanted book. I have devoted myself to slowly read, reread, take notes and pray as I read.
Personally, this book came at my right time. If you are serious about your faith, allow the message to penetrate your heart. Be open to God, and listen.
I have hope in my life now. It may sound very corny, but I am finding me, and I like my discovery.

From the opening pages I felt transported into another world. Reading this story felt so familiar. Like reawakening to a time, and to feelings, which I once experienced so deeply – to a time that I always yearn to return to. Often while reading this book, tears came to my eyes or my hairs stood on end. So incredibly sad at times and yet also exhilarating, and fulfilling to the core of my being. I felt myself cheering for Jesu and Magdalene throughout these pages, relishing every word from their lips. Profound and inspiring!

I tried really hard to finish this book, but it was a slow read and goes against the teachings of the Bible in too many ways for me to be comfortable. There are a lot of good nuggets, but not enough to make it worth pursuing the end of the book for me. Life is too short and books are too numerous to have to force myself to read a book I dread picking up!

This is a work of fiction based on the life of Jeshua Ben Joseph and his wife Mary Magdalene. In this story, Jeshua is her second husband, her first was John the Baptist. I have discovered a lot in my years of searching for truth, but this I was not aware could be as I had never even heard this possibility discussed by anyone and I have heard of many unusual possibilities, real or imagined.

This is not a book for the sceptic but rather it is for those who are open to possibilities. There are many facts presented that will blast open the thought processes of the reader who cannot and will not concede what is contained with the limits of the pages of this book could not occur, could not be real and would not really happen at all. If you are such a person this book will either cause you do shut down completely, or it will change your mind causing it to open itself beyond its present scope. To not even give it thought means you are rejecting anything beyond what we are told occurred even though those that tell us were not, themselves there to witness what really happened nor would they then be able to say what could not possibly happen.

Although the publishers say this is a work of Fiction, it could just as easily be Non Fiction. There is a fine line in this book between Fiction and Truth. Who is to say where the line begins and ends and what is true or untrue. Doing so causes us to sit in Judgement for we are denying what may be true and saying what may be true is false.

The author tells us in the beginning of the book that this story took 25 years to compile and wrapped within this story you will find many practical remedies which cast new light on the meaning of inward contemplation. What I liked most about this book was when Mary had her visions. These visions led her inward allowing her to see what IS and what had been and also what would or could Be. She is able to see, feel and acknowledge what is not serving her and what needs resolving and let go of its weight.

I could walk along with her and do the very things she did and felt lighter because of this. She was also gifted with something. I too believe that if we clear out ourselves of inner discontent and shadows, that we become lighter in the weight they had on our souls as well as Lighter on the outside . As our shadow lessens, the Light from within can now flow outwards and touch others gently, joyously and lovingly. As her visions progressed throughout the story, Mary became stronger, more focused, clearer and then her journey through the nine veils brought greater and greater clarity and a heart expanding wider and wider as she traveled through each veil.

This is truly a journey of many years. I would not doubt that the visions and inner journeys were in some ways akin to the journey of 25 years the author mentions it took her to compile this book. If so, it is a journey well traveled and one that is priceless in its ultimate knowingness and the Light it created and continues to create in her life. I humbly acknowledge her work and her journey and those who assisted her in her travels.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Black Rose Writing through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own

Fascinating story, and beautifully written,
exploring history overshadowed by the teachings of the church concerning facts never spoken of and documentation of the life of Jesus and Mary Magdalene and their family following the crucifixion.
Yes, family!
And why not?

Based on extensive research in her quest for spiritual knowledge Krishna Rose has uncovered and confirmed practices and teachings of rabbinical law which indicate that indicate Mary Magdalene was, indeed, married to Jesus .

Worthy of a "good read".
Highly recommended and thought provoking.

This book is about Mary Magdalene and the empowerment of women. It also contains some insight into the story of the crucifixion.
The author spent twenty some years gathering facts/material for this book. It is interesting and has some different concepts. I can't say I agree with everything. However, the book is intriguing and does get you thinking on some of the points presented.

Alternative early Christianity

This was a difficult read. I was attracted to the fictive history of the early Christian era, but put off by the preaching which seemed to go on at length. The last half of the book was, for me, an alternate retelling of The Divine Comedy, but blending in the faiths, beliefs and practices of multiple cultures. With less prayer and more characters, I might have been more inclined to pick it up more frequently.
That being said, it presents an intriguing alternative to the post crucifixion story, and the development of the Christian Church by Peter and Paul. The dispursion of the children of Mary and Jesus harkens to the interest raised by DaVinci Code novels, with ties to the feminine power interests. I did note a strong link: white=good, black=evil, with little inclusion of persons of Africa, or any mention of Islam, given the Mary character's ability to cast into the future.

As I am a gatherer of books, I collect books and ebooks from a variety of sources: Goodreads wins, Bookhub, BookFunnel, emails from authors and publishers, and others. I do lose track of their sources. But, as a reader, I feel I should give an honest, unencumbered review for all I read.

I loved the first 2/3 of this book. But the last 1/3 took such a drastic turn and it lost me. I’d love to give this a higher rating because of how much I initially was moved, but the ending was so disappointing that I really had to digest it before rating it.

I too was spellbound. As a devotee of Jesus, some of this made me nervous, but as a believer that God is in all and God is all, I had a hard time with the harsh justice system in the afterlife. That is not plausible for me but some of the other ideas make sense. I have also revered Mary Magdalene and believed her to be possibly his wife, at very least his devotee and cherished disciple. The author researched this story for 25 years! Rich in detail and allegory.

I read a lot of historical fiction and generally enjoy it. I have to say this book was not for me. I really did not care for the writing style. There was too much of the dreaming, visions and stream of consciousness going on. Because of this, the book was slow going. It would have been far more enjoyable with more of the travels--what they saw, who they encountered and what they did. I really cannot recommend this book.

From the beginning these words will shake the roots of your tree of beliefs. Your realizations will turn the leaves of judgement useless, and they will fall to be replaced by buds of joy, love and hope for the human spirit. I am reading in joy as the "Woman in Red"raises the divine feminine in us all.

From the first page, Mary Magdalene draws you into her experience. You are there in a world many today would consider taboo. This beautifully written work of "fiction" speaks to the inner beliefs I have carried with me my whole life. Kudos to Krishna Rose for the passion and bravery it took to give the real Mary Magdalene back to history!

This book pulled me in and had me engrossed from the first page to the last.
The way Krishna Rose wrote this book and the amount of love and respect that she has given to Mary Magdalene and Jesu is apparent in every word.
Her depiction of Hell and Heaven and the Divine is riveting.
I can not recommend it strongly enough.
So glad I bought into last year!

I regret the time I wasted reading this book. I was determined to get through it thinking it must get better but it never did. The best part was in the beginning. The second half of the book was this fantasy of heaven and hell and all the different levels and creatures and punishments/rewards, etc. I cannot recommend this book.

As told by Mary Magdalene whom in this book is portrayed as Jesus wife. Only 2 stars because...well I don’t know. It was interesting but every time I put it down I didn’t want to pick it up again. Got bogged down with scripture. I’d read my bible if I wanted that much.
It was like at times a novel, a good one, then it was a non-fiction, a bad one.

Spiritual

An interesting story, similar to several others with emphasis on different characters. Many things still puzzle but that is a personal search and things that encourage a reader to question and search are usually worthwhile
