Logan Conner and Wholesale Slaughter won the day on Revelation, but the Starkad Supremacy doesn’t like failure. If they can’t beat Sparta on the battlefield, they’ll make them fold from within.
It’s been over twenty years since the failed coup that killed the rightful Guardian and put Logan’s father on the throne of Sparta, but the same resentments and family rivalries still burn bright. It doesn’t take much for a dissatisfied political rival to be converted into an enemy agent.
The traitors strike without warning, and in the space of a day, Logan is on the run, without his father, without his throne, without the Spartan military to back him up. The only friends he can count on are his brother, Terrin, his fiancée Katy, and the rest of Wholesale Slaughter.
If Starkad and their allies think this war is over, they don’t know Logan Conner.
Also Available on Audible, narrated by the award-winning Marc Vietor.

This is my perspective, as a 78 year old woman, of this book. It is my opinion that way too much is spent on battles. A lot of explanation on systems and and Armament and how they work. I deducted a star because of the battle scenes. I did read completely all of this scenes, because I admit they did can I sue my attention, I just wish there'd be more information of the future and the details of how people would live in the future. Obviously, the other spent quite a bit of time describing the poverty of the people living on the edge, or periphery as it was described in the book. And that was quite good. That's why I gave four stars. I also came to know the characters in the book oh, and I found them to be very well described. All in all, I found this a good read and deserving of the four star rating I gave it.
Great continuation of this wonderful and exciting series. Connor Logan, his brother Terrin, his new wife Katy and the rescued Constantine will now move forward to take back Sparta, their homeland.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 23 times.
As for the narration: Marc Vietor is absolutely marvelous!
Logan has to find a way to make up the major losses Wholesale Slaughter has suffered, while at the same time making progress in finding a way to consolidate enough resources to take back control of Sparta from its current usurper. Quite a lot going on in this book, with no real ending in sight.
Well Another Great Storyline well written with plenty of blood and guts and good banter.. Totally shock at losing one of the main heros Colonel Randall and if course Logan's father.. How the hell have the bad guys managed to build a star drive hmmmm
Again, Rick delivers an exciting and spellbinding book full of action and intrigue. Well put together storyline and plot execution. I love the characters but like Game of Thrones throughout this series we lose good characters just like in real life.
This book keeps the storyline going strong. With great characters an an intriguing storyline it will keep you wanting more. With lots of action and suspense
I enjoyed this book, it is a very good series. If you like space action mechanized warriors and good character development you’ll enjoy this book and the series what I didn’t like was the death of a certain character I think that that was wasteful. What a great VS battle that would’ve been between that character and Ruth. I believe it was an opportunity wasted. Besides that I will go ahead and read the next book in the series.
The stage is set for a coup. There was one before, stopped by Logan's father. There are five remnants of the old Empire, and they've been kind of balanced for a long time. Until Book 1, when Logan Connor finds some Ancient Tech.
Since then, everyone wants to have it for themselves so that they can conquer the other 4 remnants. It's such human nature to want to rule the reconstituted empire.
The Bad Guys Next Door convince a niece of the leader of the previous (failed) coup to ally with them and take over Sparta. Dang, that's harsh!
This is the first act in the war that causes.
Why did I give 5 stars, when I usually stop at 4? Because I keep thinking about these characters for days after the book is over. Logan and Kate, other soldiers, scientists, and frontier pioneers just seem like people I want to know better.
Maelstrom Strand, the fourth book in the Wholesale Slaughter series, ratchets up the tension in the series even more, as consequences for the actions of the previous books finally begin to catch up with the heroes. They thought they’d outsmarted the Starkad Supremacy, but they’ve committed the mortal sin of underestimating their enemy and they’re about to pay for it. I really enjoyed seeing the way the author made sure the loose strings from the first three books didn’t stay hanging. Every action done in desperation because there was no other choice comes back to haunt them and nothing comes without a price. Can’t wait for the next book.
