Angel's Fate #2

Fated Winter

Rate this book
Freedom is further from her reach than ever before…

I’ve been taken. Again. God, not again!

This time all of us — me, Sebastian, Cassius, Titus, and Hawk — have been abducted, dragged through a portal into the Winter Court where the Winter Queen wants Prince Sebastian to take his rightful place as heir, a title he abdicated the hell out of 300 years ago.

Now that the queen has her unwilling prodigal son back in her grasp, she won’t let him go. Ever. And if she learns the truth of who we really are, she’ll kill the rest of us.

The only thing blocking her end game: me and Sebastian’s lie that we’re married — bound together by powerful fae magic that can only be broken by death. And as an angel unable to give Sebastian children, I’m not exactly the queen’s first choice for her son’s bride.

I’m worse than back to square one. The guys will do anything to protect me, and we’ve only got a small window of time to get out of the Winter Court before the assassination attempts begin.

Fated Winter is the second book in the Angel’s Fate series, an action-packed full-length paranormal romance with powerful sexy men and a heroine who doesn’t have to choose.

** Angel’s Fate is a spinoff series from the Nephilim’s Destiny series. It’s not necessary to read the first series to enjoy this one.

Captivating

The story is so compelling and so full of feels. But I really want to wrap Amirah and the guys in a nice safe blanket.

Okay I have to give credit, this book certainly evokes emotions in me. I am invested.

I hate hate hate that ending.

Forced sex scene made me want to throw the book against the wall.

And that fucking cliffhanger.

The whole rape culture thing was enough to make me hope they burn the entire court to the ground with everyone inside.

And why the hell hasn't Sebastian accused his former friend of trying to murder him, if only to give his mother something to think about?? Why not try to remove his influence?

After the events from the first book all the MCs were in a poor state, so maybe we could blame that for all the emotional angsting and obtuseness. Except that there was a fair amount of that in the first book too. It was just more obvious in this one. And repetitive. The FMC's mental contortions just kept going around and around in circles. I suppose it's refreshing to see a character that wants to fight against a mystical insta-bond - and it certainly seems a reasonable reaction - but being in her head was exhausting and frustrating. And the guys weren't much better. And this takes up the majority of the story. I'm all for seeing the relationship development - and all the points of view - but does there have to be so much constant agonising?
Also, for the FMC to try to block out trauma by constantly obsessing over sex while seriously injured seems self-defeating to say the least, and weird for someone over a hundred years old and supposedly a trained medical professional.
Why is there never any real communication in these kind of books? Why do they always assume they know what the other thinks/feels/wants?

Argh.

Draining

I get tired of women always having no faith in themselves. I thought it was interesting that the MC had the power to heal, no matter the situation; however, it then turned annoying. Why didn’t she go to training or obtain an answer to help with this issue that is constantly putting her in danger?

I am not a person who needs to be saved. Therefore, I have trouble reading about someone who can’t even lift a stick to defend herself. It’s draining on my soul to read about a woman whose only strength is being able to withstand a beating.

It also bothers me how the person she has sex with calls her an ice queen and does not even try to understand her. No one really seems to care about her since she had to crawl to the pool with all broken ribs instead of being placed inside immediately. Actions speak louder than words.

Not my cup of tea.

Surprising

This is a surprisingly good spin off... though driver it’s Tessa Cole, that just makes sense. It’s only surprising because the FMC was more of a misunderstood man girl (yah.... she was a freaking witch) in the other series, but here we get the other half of that story. By the end of book 1, you like her. By the end of book 2, you’re rooting for her. Enjoyable twists, turns and romance abound.

First person, multiple POV, Slow/med burn, Slow build PNR, RH
Cliffhanger
Rating = M
Romantic dynamic = MMMMF
character age range = 100+

Pros:
- Deftly written
- You GET the FMC
- Faerie.... I like it.

Cons:
- Some places felt rushed.

Not a lot of progression plot-wise (nothing much happened about the Heart of Faerie thing). But we did get a bit of progression in the relationship development department—mostly from a one-sided perspective, but still.

Everyone is slowly coming to terms with their feelings and desires but not really making a move yet.

Holy fuck, that cliffhanger, though! I legit wasn't expecting the whole throne room thing to actuallyhappen. The follow-through was a complete surprise. Farie is a fucked up place and both the Winter Queen and Shadow King are cray-cray.

And WTF is up with the Winter Court being all sentient and its magic liking Amiah? Girly is not gonna stay in Winterland having a bunch of royal hybrid babies, is she? That'd actually be nuts.

I wanna see more character growth going forward—and better proofreading, the use of commas is proving to be atrocious.

Hawk seems like the only one that's a well-adjusted individual. Sebastian has commitment issues and is poisoned with demonic magic, Amiah is stuck in her "I'm-weak-and-useless" mentality and having mental break-downs all too often, Cassius is being ruled and overwhelmed by his emotions on an hourly basis and Titus will sooner rather than later have to deal with the fact that this is RH and girly is NOT gonna be solely his, dammit!

Also, demon-vampire samurai anyone? 😉

Couldn't put it down!!!!

Great second book! I spent most of this book being angry at the situation the FMC was in but it was like a train wreck that I couldn't look away from.

The tension between the FMC and her four hotties is ramping up to new heights. I don't know how the FMC is going to deal with them as some of them aren't even thinking about sharing, another wont even admit to his feelings, another could end up causing her death and then there is the succubus who is more than happy to go along with any ride as long as it is includes sex.

Cole's cliffhanger has set up the next book extremely well that has you wanting the next book right this second.

I found this series a bit slow to start, mostly when i realised Amiah was our FMC and Cassius was also in it. As i wasnt very happy with either of them after i finished Essie's stories. But then i though Give it a proper go Sebastians in it and we loved him.
And boy am i glad i listened to me!

This series was so full of twists and turns, Action and Mystery, sweetness, Steam and humour. I ended up loving Amiah and understanding her past behaviour and poor cassius..... *sigh .Sebastian was great as always and i loved Hawk, Titan and Rin.
I would definatly read this series again and i even shed a wee tear at the happy moment on the very last page.

In Fated Winter you really get to see the trust begin to build between Amiah and her men. I absolutely love faerie worlds and this one is no different. I could do without this wicked queen though. I want so bad for things to go smoothly with these guys! I need more.

So far so good
- I’ve never read a harem or reverse harem series because I hated them. Most of them were just people who want to jump each other’s bones even before they have met and it was just sex, sex, sex.

At least this series has a decent plot and it’s not just an orgy every time they meet.

The build up!

Gah! The angst is killing me, but I love it. I am a glutton for punishment so I'm off to download the next book at one am in the morning.
