In New York Times bestselling author Victoria Laurie’s newest Psychic Eye Mystery, Abby is after a serial killer who’s simply fated for felonies.
When three newbie agents at the Austin’s FBI cold-case bureau resent having to work alongside a psychic consultant, Abby Cooper finds herself in hot water after they contact super-popular podcaster Mike Toscano—a former agent and huge skeptic of Abby’s abilities.
To prove that she’s the real deal, Abby will have to solve Toscano’s oldest—and coldest—case, and she’ll have to do it on air with millions of Toscano’s fans critiquing her every move. To make matters worse, the D.C. brass is threatening to shut down the Austin offices if Abby doesn’t bring home a win.
But helping to solve the unsolvable is what Abby does best, and she’ll be bringing her A-game to Toscano’s podcast. The only trouble is the killer could be listening…

Abby Cooper is THE BEST character I’ve ever read and I read on average 200+ books a year in all genres. What boggles my mind is that the author, Victoria Laurie, has had to resort to publishing this installment of the series on her own… ie… self-publish. I mean, what kind of ignoramous publishing house decided to not renew this series? Were they STUPID? DRUNK? Or were they completely oblivious to what good writing and good characters are?
I’m glad Ms. Laurie has decided that her loyal readers deserve her continued work toward bringing us more Abby. I will pay full price just as soon as each new installment is released. I’ve read this series through three times and I haven’t gotten tired of it. I BEG her never to quit. It would truly break my heart.
I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud… like I was literally howling. When Abby got the case of the fuckits, I suddenly felt not a lone anymore. You see, I too, suffer from the fuckits, but I thought I was alone. For years I've gone undiagnosed and thanks for Victoria Laurie I now have a label and a new understanding about myself.
My favorite story line is when Abby has to prove herself to a skeptic. There’s just something satisfying watching her hand that person their ass. And the ending of this book? Epic. Way to leave me wanting more Ms. Laurie. I can’t wait for book 17.
I finished a few days ago and forgot to put up my review. This was a cute installment. I liked that she showed up her naysayers.
I liked that her husband was involved in this installment. I didn’t like the cliffie. I’m okay with cliffies in general.
The problem with this one is that this series does come out on a set schedule (every 6 months or annually). I’m left hanging with no clue when the next book will be out.
After 15 books, Victoria Laurie self-published this one, and I was happy that she did. I enjoyed this series so much, after I returned to it a couple of years ago. I love being with Abby and the gang, especially when Abby deals with the naysayers who don't believe her ability, and she proves EVERYONE wrong.
This time, the naysayer is a retired FBI agent who has a podcast with millions of listeners. He accuses Abby a fake who is using government's money. To defend her name, Abby agrees to take one of the agent's cold case. Soon enough, not only that Abby has to prove she's real, but she finds out that the career lives of everyone in Austin's FBI branch, including her husband Dutch, and her boss (who at the same time is also her BFF's husband) are on the line. The power that be in D.C. is ready to shut down the branch...
It's another EXCELLENT case for Abby. She is able to find the bodies of the missing women, and of course, with the help of Dutch, Brice, Oscar, and other agents who have been her people, they are able to find the murderer. I think the best moment is when Abby also saved everyone's career by going at it with the EAD. She may use to do it, but I don't care. I love her for it. GO ABBY!!
The ending of this book is rather a cliffhanger -- not for Abby's life per se, but it is ended with . I really hope book #17 will not be years in the making.
A terrifying villain, a difficult, perhaps even impossible, situation at the FBI and another sceptic to convince; for Abby Cooper, just another day at the office. It has been years since I last read a Psychic Eye Mystery and I now remember why I liked them. For a mystery revolving around a phenomenon I don't really believe in, these are surprisingly believable mysteries, at least where it comes to the solving of the crime, (not quite as believable in some of the physical altercations). Laurie is skilled at building tension, revealing clues and even her psychic readings of characters in the book move the story forward and add important detail to the plot. I also remember what I didn't like about her books: the really excessive use of bad language and how grim and gruesome the plots can get.
This is the sixteenth book in the Psychic Eye mystery series by Victoria Laurie.
There are some newbie agents at the FBI office where Abby works with hubby, Dutch. One of them has ousted her to a popular podcaster that has the ear of many of the FBI higher ups. This has put all of their jobs in jeopardy. Now she must perform on command in order to keep her job and those of her friends. But this podcaster, who is a retired Fed, is a hard egg to crack. And it may not even make a difference if she succeeds or not. It all just might be over and done with.
I wish I could give this one more than five stars. I mean, there is just so much meat in this story and it tugs at your heart strings while fulfilling that need for a whodunit mystery. Just a great read!
You just can’t put a book like this down. I had to read it straight through. So wonderful. Love this series. Highly recommended. Love both of her series and suggest them to everyone.
If you like cozy mysteries, you won’t be disappointed in this series. Take a deep dive into this fantastic series!
Abby and crew are back in the sixteenth book in the series. The Austin FBI office has added three new agents that mock Abby. Unfortunately that got back to a retired agent, Mike Toscano, who has a podcast. Toscano demands that the bureau get rid of Abby and perhaps the entire Austin office for her "fortunetelling". Abby is ambushed by having to do a podcast in which she must pick up clues regarding a seventeen year old cold case.
I absolutely love this series! Abby is one of my all time favorite characters. She is smart, funny and snarky. Plus she has a mouth that will not quit.
I always enjoy seeing Abby bring nonbelievers around. Toscano was a hard nut to crack but very few can escape Abby's charms. Her clues are often a bit obscure but thankfully Oscar has learned to hone in on them. He and Abby make a great investigative team.
It was interesting watching the pieces fall into place as they got closer to the serial killer. I learned way more about sharks that I expected.
The endings always build up to a huge drama and this was not exception.
This series never disappoints me. I have really enjoyed all sixteen books and look forward to the next one.
This is the latest book in the physic eye series. Abby Cooper is a consultant for the FBI and has worked many cases with them over the years. Her abilities come into question when three new recruits who think Abby is a fraud, tell a former agent with a prominent podcast that she is working for the FBI. He says she is a fraud and it sets in motion a chain of events that could shut down the Austin bureau of the FBI and leave everyone without a job. The agent agrees to bring Abby the coldest of cold cases to see if she can find new information to prove she is legit.
This is one of my favorite series. Abby is such a great character. I love that she is not afraid to voice her opinion. I always love to see her do a reading on people who are critical of her abilities and see the shock when she is spot on in everything she says. I liked that we same more of the team in this book, especially Oscar. I love how he can interpret Abby's visions even better that Dutch can. The newbies were annoying with the exception of Williams who grew on me as the story progressed. The mystery was great. That ending though. I am anxiously awaiting the next book now to find out what happens.
This is one of favorite series and I'm bummed that this is the last one. I hope there are more coming. Abby is yet again up against a bunch of non-believers, but this time their skepticism could ruin not only her career, but the careers of Dutch, Harrison, Oscar and Gaston. Mike Toscano, a renowned retired FBI agent blows up Abby's spot on his nationally known podcast. This brings heat from the higher ups in DC and they are threatening to shut down the Austin office. Abby tells Mike to bring her his hardest cold case. He presents her with a 15-year old unsolved mystery of 4 women who went missing in the Texarkana area. Abby immediately taps in to her radar and sees a lake, godzilla and a red mini van. Mike continues to be skeptical and follows Abby to the lake where he gets to see first hand how Abby is the real deal.
We were worried that the new publisher would not be as good as the old one. We can stop worrying. This one is my favorite so far, I think the best Abby Cooper yet. I found only one editing error. Well after reading the question on the book's page I've changed my mind. I checked to make sure and it's true, Oscar's name was Rodriguez in A Glimpse of Evil and Hernandez in Fated for Felony. Is that Ms. Laurie's mistake or the editor's? Either way it's not good. I'm so disappointed but this can't be my favorite Abby Cooper now.
This is one of my favorite Psychic Eye books so far. Abby *really* has to test her mettle in this one — more than she ever has before. There are twists and turns, as usual, told with Laurie’s classic Abby wit and sass — and the ending is just ... wow. This is definitely a must-read in the Psychic Eye canon.
While I enjoyed the others this one needs a serious edit. I found myself skipping frequently, duplicate/repeated information that otherwise slowed the pacing. Abby's character changes here and the others become flat, more two-dimensional. I read the entire 16-book series, all together, in the span of two weeks...
Fated for Felony was interesting, but a little bit frustrating. I was annoyed with the conflict in this one, but I liked Abby and how she handled things. However, the ending was a huge cliffhanger that left nothing really resolved and with a whole new story.
This was another great read in the Psychic Eye series. I enjoy the writing and the characterization of both the main characters and the suspects throughout.
One of my top ten absolute favorite series I was delighted when, looking at the newest Cat Cooper coming out that Laurie had written this one after two years had passed after the last Psychic Eye had come out....of course I'm two years behind with this one....
Enjoyed it. Totally enjoyed it. I love Dutch and Abby and I'm in that group of readers who love a good serial killer story. Abby seems to have lost some of her snark in this one but she's still such an awesome character. The ending of this one seemed to be a cliffhanger -- which I do not like in my books because they make it seem like the author is trying to get you to buy the next one. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be another one and the way it ended I really wanted to find out what happened.
Reading about solving cold cases is fascinating to me - especially with the techniques we have today. I love the idea of catching the bad guys and bringing justice to the victims and their families.
This appears to be self-published, which is a shame. Ms. Laurie has a long history of writing good books, so I don't know why she couldn't get a publisher. Although this did have some typos, it was still a lot cleaner than most self-published books so she must still have some editing contacts. What most annoyed me was how she wrote out the years every time, and hyphenated them needlessly (two-thousand three instead of 2003. Who does that?!). But I did enjoy the story and the mystery. Abby was a little smarter in this one than she sometimes is and I like that she got to finally kick some ass herself instead of being rescued as she usually is. I don't love that it ended on a cliffhanger, but I do hope that means there will be another.
This story takes place away from Austin as the office including Abby try to solve a cold case and save their jobs. The book has Abby trying to convince a lot of people that she is for real. It was an easy read.
This Psychic Eye mystery has an amazing cliffhanger! New FBI agent or agents, in the Austin office, stir up a hornet's nest with publicity about Abby's psychic abilities. The following podcast leads to the FBI deciding to close the office and layoff many of the agents. As a possible last case, the team is investigating a serial killer. Abby convinces the doubters of her real abilities but will it save her career or the office.

Omggggggggggggggggggg. I am seriously shook over the last page of this book. That was insane! I also can't believe this is the sixteenth book in this series. I just love Abby and Dutch and the dogs and Candace and everyone else in these books. It's so much fun to see Abby use her gift to solve cases with the FBI, and I always get a kick when she converts skeptics to believers. This case was a tough one. The murderer was pure evil, so the stakes were high. Still can't get over that ending though. And I'm definitely looking forward to the book featuring Abby's sister, Cat, coming out in a couple of months.
Wow!!!! Just finished Fated for Felony and am still amazed, shocked, etc. with the cliffhanger ending. Love all the characters including Abby, Dutch, etc. The storyline grab me right away and pulled me right in. Highly recommend to everyone who loves mysteries, psychic themed stories, etc.
Read the book. Listened to the audio and the reader was awful. I don’t know how much that affected my take on the book. Abby has been working with the FBI for a decade and at the end of the book she makes foolish error after foolish error.
Such a great book, however I hate cliffhangers! When will I find out if she solves "my murder"? I do like that she is a bit older and has kept her snark.
Abby Cooper, the psychic detective, is at it again with another thrill riding case. Working as a consultant for the FBI, Abby Cooper has made quite the reputation for herself for being incredibly accurate and closes even the hardest and coldest of cases with her intuitive abilities. So when she comes head to head with a skeptic, it really pisses her off!
Mike Toscano, a former FBI agent and a podcast entrepreneur, comes forward and challenges Abby to a duel. Mike believes that Abby's presence in the FBI is making them a laughing stalk. He's a non-believer. Non-believers are dangerous and usually egotistical. Here is where Abby thrives and shines! The tension that Toscano has created amongst the FBI group is so thick I could feel goose bumps on my arms! Man I hated this guy! But Abby never backed down. She showed Toscano what she was made of and more. The longer they spent time together, the more Toscano was understanding and truly believing Abby's skills.
It's been a while since I last read Abby, and this book just reminded me again why I love this series so much! I was literally at the edge of my seat the whole time. The more grim things looked for Abby, the more I wanted to punch Toscano in the face! I can't wait to see what Abby gets into next!
Narrator Review Elizabeth Michaels continues to deliver a wonderful performance for Abby and her friends. I love her warm and understanding tone but she can also deliver some sass and wrath when need be. Elizabeth just knows how to take Victoria's stories and bring them to life, thank you.
YEAH, NAH......The plot lines and story thread was really off in the main character from about book 14 onwards she was on this repetitive tangent to validate themself constantly with other professionals in criminology, at nearly 40 years old would have thought the main character Abby buy now, with grace be evolved well enough into her psychic craft not-to actually care or need defining by opinions of others and she is spiteful when they don't fall at her feet. A big shout out to an old reviewer who got slammed for running comment on the increase of F-bomb usage in the series... totes on board with (Leslie aka Storey Book Review.) Unfortunately the main character seems to have become angry, aggressive, overreacts with swearing to everything and is careless with her gift, that cost the lives of others in the story lines and now is either vegan or vegetarian... not at all interesting !! .. and the serial crimes in the last few books... are awful, overly gory.... is stressful, really just like bad news on TV everywhere. Usually read to chillax ...Not finding in this.
Three new agents at the FBI's Austin branch cause trouble for Abby Cooper whom they believe to be a fake psychic. They contact ex-FBI agent and podcaster, Mike Toscano, to denounce her on his show. But now, not only is Abby's fate up in the air, so is the fate of the Austin office. Abby must go on Mike's show and help solve a 15 year old cold case. But as she gets clues, Mike isn't sure what to believe.
I absolutely loved this series and this book is no exception. I really enjoy a paranormal twist to my books and psychics are one of my favorites. Victoria Laurie does psychics very well. The way Abby gets her clues is great as is the way she explains her abilities to a skeptical Mike. The book was well-written with well-rounded characters, some of whom you'll like and others you won't. I was drawn into this very engaging read from the beginning and kept hooked throughout. The mystery will keep you on your toes and guessing. I sincerely hope that Victoria Laurie continues this series. I highly recommend both book and series which is best read in order.
One of the best in an always entertaining series. We see Abby up against a vicious serial killer, a stone-cold case, and perhaps the biggest skeptics she’s ever faced. Ms Laurie lifts the curtain a bit more on how the process works for Abby, and it’s fascinating. Abby hasn’t lost any of her swagger, but it never over shadows the job she’s out to do.
It’s a shame that after 15 previous books in the series, the author had to self publish this book. Clearly, Ms Laurie still has a publisher. Her new series beginning with Coached to Death is in the hands of her longtime publisher. Trust your author, and listen to your readers Berkeley House! There is still a market for Abby. And the end of this book shows there is room for more stories.
