Etta Foster grew up in Maine and has studied Conservation Biology at Boston University.
Her studies and adventurous spirit led her to meet the love of her life in Lovelock, Nevada. She currently lives there with her rancher husband and their two teen daughters. She delights in writing about women who came also a century before her to find love in the West.
She got her first idea of a story while taking care of the horses with her loving husband. He was the one to push her not only in the actual riding but in the exciting ride of writing as well.
Except writing, she enjoys making wooden handicraft artifacts with the help of her two daughters who by the way, exceed her. Right now her daughters are teaching her how to connect with her readers!
Roy and Emilia had a destiny no one would expect. Emilia lost so much of her purity when her mother died and her criminal father came and turned her into a thief…pickpocket. Roy had belonged to her father’s gang but was left in a bank after being shot by one of the thieves when he was seventeen. He was protecting a man that left him his ranch when he died. However, Roy spent four years in prison for just being in the bank as a gang member. There is a lot of drama and action in this book. A must read.
This is a series of nineteen book. It’s about a mail order bride who leaves Oregon after she loss her husband and had a miscarriage and move to Arizona. Her father is an outlaw. Who taught her to steal as a child. Her intent is a rancher who use to be one of the outlaws in her Dad gang. This is fast moving story with a lot of suspense. I recommend reading this book Etta Foster is excellent writer and her books are enjoyable
What a great story! Filled with heartache, boldness, compassion, disbelief, wonder; a definite roller coaster ride. But then, that is often what lives are. Greatly written characters and hard to put the book down. Well worth reading.
This book isn't a bad book, it was really good at first then it got into the same old plot, let's find a reason not to love each other. I hate that sort of stuff, so many books have that in the plot it gets to be very boring, even somewhat irritating.
In order for their future to be happy both Emilia and Roy have to come to terms with their past. This was my favorite book by this author thus far! Even though her books take place in different towns/states, I would enjoy some sort of crossover so characters like these two could be "seen" again.
Etta Foster entertains me with her books. I am currently enjoying reading about mail order brides and she is interesting and keeps me reading. I am a voracious reader sometimes reading a book or two in a day, but I am picky and it must keep my interest. Etta Foster does that.
It was interesting that after all those years Roy and Emelia would come together. It was also wonderful to read how they went through the trials and tribulations that they did only two have a very happy life at the end
It had a good plot. I enjoyed reading about this couple. There was sometimes too much hurt feelings between the two, but overall the plot flowed very well.

Another wonderful read from this fabulous author. Well written and engaging story line that has many twists and turns. Strong well written characters that were a joy to read about. Can love find it's way to happily ever after for these two or will they let the past destroy them? Recommend reading.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
My review today is on the Western Historical Romance, A Mail Order Bride He Would Never Forget. This book was sent to me to read. This review is in my own words and are my own thoughts. The story is well read and full of twists and turns. I know you are going to love it.
Emilia Sterling recently lost her husband and her unborn child. Life seemed to be over for her but she knew that her father would soon be there to force to marry another or to force her to live with him. She lived with her mother until her mother died at age thirteen. She was forced to live with her outlaw father. He taught her how to be a thief then married her off to a man twice her age. She couldn't bare to fall into his hands again. She answers a mail order bride ad and then leaves for Arizona. She is shocked to find the man is a former thief that worked for her father. Now what?
Roy Morgan joined a gang of thieves as a young teen. The leader of the gang had a beautiful young daughter that took his breath away. The other men laughed at him and warned him to stay away from the girl. During a bank robbery Roy tries to protect the people in the bank when the leader was going to shoot them all. Roy stopped them from killing one but was shot himself. Joe, the man he saved helped him. He did go to prison but when he was released Joe brought him to Arizona and when he died he left everything to Roy. Imagine his surprise when his mail order bride turns out to be the girl he was never able to forget.
A struggle to get forget their past and move forward. Their world is trying to keep them a part. God has a plan for these two. A good plan and not for evil. God has a plan for you too. Give him your heart and watch Him work in your life.
A Mail Order Bride He Would Never Forget by Etta Foster was a thoroughly enjoyable book. It is the story of Emilia Sterling and Roy Morgan. Emilia's husband was shot and killed breaking up a fight in the saloon he owned and ran. She had not really loved him but he was safe for her, a haven from her morally-corrupt, criminal father, who would come for Emilia as soon as her heard of her husband's death. He best friend, the madam from next door, showed her a solution. A man in Arizona was looking for a wife. Roy received her let with trepidation but soon discovered she sounded the best of all the offers he had had. She traveled from Oregon to Arizona in a grueling journey by stagecoach and train. She finally arrived, excited to find a handsome man, who seemed familiar to her somehow.
This was a terrific book with a good plot with plenty of twists and turns, mostly in the form of Roy's housekeeper, Martha, and her daughter, Leah, in a turn of plot so wicked that everyone almost missed it. Roy was a good man, but stubborn, which was portrayed well by Foster. Their antics made this book a page-turner, waiting to see what would happen next and when Roy would finally catch on. Emilia and Roy both fell in love but were to stubborn to admit it, which cam across beautifully in the story. The only drawback was modern views on the death penalty, which were not appropriate to the time. I am seeing this more and more. Unforgivable for a historical writer. This was a terrific book, mostly. I recommend it.
I received a free ARC of A Mail Order Bride He Would Never Forget. All opinions and interpretations are solely my own.
In this story, Emilia Sterling is one feisty, stubborn and strong woman, though having a father who is an outlaw would make a person become that way. Her husband was shot dead right in front of her. She miscarried their child after his death. Emilia wants to begin a new life,so she corresponds with Roy Morgan. He is looking for a mail order bride. Roy is in Arizona. This would be a great opportunity for Emilia to start over. Emilia arrives in Arizona at the train station. Roy has come to meet and pick her up. Emilia is staring right at Roy and cannot believe it. Roy Morgan rode with her fathers outlaw gang long ago. Well, this takes them both down a rocky rode at first. They finally come to a compromise, but Roy's cook, Martha and her daughter have deceitful and selfish intentions for Roy and his new betrothed. Emilia receives a letter from her friend Mary back home, giving Emilia news that her father is very sick. He is coming to see her in Arizona. Roy never wanted to set eyes on Jeb Burns again.Emilia feels so guility, and has to go meet with her father. She has questions about her life. This Is Etta's fifth novel. I love the back drop of the wild wild west. Her characters are so well developed. A delightful love story about forgiveness with lots of twists. Definitely a must read.
Etta Foster is a new to me author of historical romances set in the west and I look forward to reading more of her books.
I love stories with mail order brides but this one had quite a few twists to the story. Emilia and Roy have a past unbeknownst to them when they start their correspondence. When they finally meet it’s not what either of them are expecting and neither knows if they can move forward or not. Their problems communicating almost did them in more than once and I for one am glad they persevered. There were moments of angst, anger, disbelief and frustration. There were also moments of longing, hurt, attraction, romance and ultimately love. Roy sometimes couldn’t see the forest for the trees and thought good of those he shouldn’t and bad of those he should think good of. It was nice to see him taken by surprise over and over again.
The story flowed nicely even when I wanted to knock some sense into one or both of them. There was some mystery built in along with both heartbreaking and beautiful, heartwarming times. The characters had a depth to them and we learn about them a little at a time. There was some closure but the story ended very abruptly until I was offered the extended epilogue which tied up the loose ends nicely but still left me wanting more. All in all a quick and satisfying read.
A very romantic western mail order bride story. Roy was a wealthy rancher but it hadn’t always been that way. In his teen years he had joined a gang of thieves having nowhere else to go, no parents, no family. It just so happened that he was very interested in the gang leader’s daughter. But circumstances found Roy being arrested and serving time in prison. The bandit leaders daughter, Emilia, was very beautiful and anytime she was around, Roy couldn’t help but stare at her and she him. Many years later, Roy put a mail order bride advertisement in the paper. Unbeknownst to him, Emilia had answered his ad and made the trip to Arizona. They recognized each other right away but Roy wanted to forget about his time with the gang. Seeing Emilia had dredged up all those unwanted memories. Now he didn’t know what to do about it. After many trials and tribulations, twists and turns, we finally get to the HEA. The reader also gets to a bonus Epilogue which, I felt could have been actually in the main story. I enjoyed reading this book however, I felt it could have been shortened a bit. It seemed there were too many agonizing repeats of the same arguments and discussions. To me, it became very frustrating. But if you like this genre, then you can’t go wrong reading this book.
Emilia went to Arizona as a mail order bride after her much older husband had been killed breaking up a fight in his saloon. She felt her outlaw father would come after her and she did not want to go back to that lifestyle. When she met Roy, there was something familiar about him. Roy had the same feeling. It seems they did know each other years ago when both of their lives were very different. What were the odds?
This story has distrust, plotting, revenge, twists and many surprises. A very enjoyable read; however, I felt the way Emilia reacted to her father was a bit unrealistic. I also couldn't believe the Sheriff and Marshal would let her stay with him in his cell for 2 days so they could talk about their lives? He was a wanted dead or alive man for his many robberies and murders for Pete's sake! Him being sick wouldn't have figured into it IMHO.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
ONE UNBELIEVABLE TREAT!!! WOW! A churning vortex of vexing circumstances and a slew of surprising events blaze those thrilling emotions melding this baby together piece by jagged piece fluidly. This is one total knock out, throw down, jaw dropping and lights out exciting type. Buckle up baby, you're in for the long haul. Dealing with all the trials and tribulations, ups and downs, propel this baby to life spectacularly. One mind blowing storyline and striking plot propels this bad boy to staggering heights. Throw in all the drama, danger and suspense and you have one amazing wild ride. The realism and authenticity of the characters as their on point personalities blend and connect along with the graphically detailed scenes that thrust this little jewel together smooth as silk. Awesome job Etta, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
I enjoyed Emelia and Roy’s love story quiet a lot. Emelia was the pampered daughter of a notorious criminal, who headed a gang terrorizing the west. Roy had been part of that gang as a boy and wanted to put the past behind him. Emelia’s life was turned upside down when she lost both her husband and child in the span of a few days. In desperation to avoid being forced to work for her father, she heads to Arizona to marry a rancher. Roy is part thrilled and part horrified when he sees the girl he once admired (the daughter of the criminal he once worked for) is the mail-order bride awaiting him at the train station. Many forces try to keep them apart and danger lurks in this page-turning romance. *One criticism- I thought about dropping my rating of this story, because at one point Roy plans to spank Emelia. He didn’t, but this line was unnecessary.
What I liked: • The writing and editing was solid. • The pacing of the story was not too fast nor too slow. • This was a clean read. • The western setting on a ranch. • The storyline was interesting with Amelia's father being an outlaw and Roy a reformed outlaw.
This was not one of my favorite books of this series. I like my heroes and heroines to be able to reason through obvious coincidences and suspicious situations and to act competently. If a character consistantly ignores sound reasoning, I become frustrated with the story I am reading. However, I did read all of this story. Your enjoyment of this story will depend on how you like your main characters.
I was given an ARC of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own.
I really enjoyed Emilia and Roy’s story. Emilia’s father is a notorious outlaw. When her older husband dies she’s fears her father will come back to get her and marry her to one of his gang. When her mother died she was forced to live with her father and his gang where she was expected to pick pockets. She hated it. So she decides to be a mail order bride to get far away where her father can’t find her. As fate’s interference she goes to meet a wealthy rancher/ new groom. It turns out she already knows him as he was with her fathers gang when he was 17! The mistrust and tension between the two added drama and confusion to the book. The storyline took a little longer than necessary to resolve. I did enjoy this story and recommend this book and this author! No one does western romance like Etta Foster!
I'm surprised by the reaction of our hero, it doesn't say much for his character. He hides rather than confronts an issue, and spends weeks without telling her he knew who she was when he met her. I like Emilia because she knew what she wanted even though she led a nearly sheltered life. I found her somewhat naive about things, but she was fighting for a new life. Roy overcame his past, but he hides it like a dirty secret. I'm surprised the moment that Emilia stepped off the train, he didn't buy her another to send her back. I'm not sure I've would have taken Roy back. The man didn't trust her and demonstrated it more than once. It's only after he had solid proof that he took any action. The end of the story is where this story falters, because I don't believe I could live with a man who doesn't believe or trust me.
I loved this A Mail Order Bride He Would Never Forget novel by Etta Foster. The characters are complex and so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. Alexandra and Caleb came alive for me as I pictured them falling in love and fighting for that love. One wonderful tale that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. All the drama, uncertainty, romance and suspense make for one exciting experience. This book is the one that will keep you turning the pages! I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, from cover to cover.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Roy begins his young life in a gang where he meets Emilia. Her father is the leader of the gang. Roy has a change of heart during a bank robbery where he protects a gentleman from being shot and ends up getting shot by a member of his own gang. He loses contact with Emilia when he is sent to prison for awhile. When he gets out he goes to work for the man he saved at the bank. He turns his life around and desires a mail order bride to start a family with. That puts Emilia back into his life. Wonderful romance about second chances and forgiveness. Another 5 star read.
Emotional; Battling the Past and Fighting for the Future!
A Mail Order Bride with complexities from the past. Misunderstandings, mistrust, and a plot to separate out two main characters. Many parts flew by for me; the background and history. A bit of drama and lack of trust had me feeling a slight bit of whiplash. Overall a well-written historical western from this reader who grew up with Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour.
