A Witch in Time

Rate this book
In a violent storm in 1645, Colin Wilshire’s Barbados-bound ship is swept off course. He’s sure he and his pregnant bride are fated to drown when he’s tossed into the sea. He wakes in a strange land and is saved by a blue-haired angel.

Twenty-first-century witch and cat rescuer Luna Halpern has fallen for more than her share of unsuitable guys—including one with a long-distance fiancé, and another who was more interested in other dudes than in Luna. Finally, a safe, drama-free guy is interested in her, and she’s confident that she’ll muster up an attraction to him. When she stumbles upon a handsome, mysterious man who speaks oddly, seems not to know where he is, or even what century it is, her first instinct is to help him.

Certain he’s either stuck in a crazy dream or in limbo between life and death, Colin stays close to Luna. As his feelings for her grow, he’s forced to choose between his obligations in the past and his hopes for the future.

A Witch in Time by Catherine Kean
Cat’s Paw book 1. Paranormal romance novella.
Colin goes overboard in a violent storm in 1635. He wakes up in the 21st century where he searches for help and answers to his past.

A complex storyline for this novella length story, but that means that is a lot going on in this time traveling pirate, small town, witch and magical cat mystery romance.
I thought the pirate got over his lost wife too quickly but that’s explained as part of their investigation into the ship and survivors all those hundreds of years ago.
A little too much description/ graphic images of the storm intro and the seasick woman. So glad I live in current times.
Overall enjoyed the romantic sleuthing and magic touches.

Settle in and enjoy some light and fluffy reading that may just contain a visitor from the past, a witch, a magical cat and a town full of its own special magic! A WITCH IN TIME by Catherine Kean and Wynter Daniels.

The last thing Colin Wilshire remembers was being thrown from a storm-wrecked ship in the year 1645 with his young wife. Twenty-first century witch, Luna Halpern has been dreaming of a handsome stranger saving her from a violent storm at sea. Imagine her shock to find that very man staggering from the water! Has her dream lover come to life?

Let go of reality and fall into this sweet tale of the past, the present and what the future can bring when hidden secrets are found and lies revealed.

Easy to read, this quick little tale is like the frosting on a cupcake! Nothing too dark, nothing too sinister, just a fun read to relax and enjoy!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Catherine Kean! My honest review is voluntary.

Luna Halpren is a witch and also is a fantastic baker who bakes for the Cove Cat Cafe which is in Cat's Paw Cove, Florida, a truly magical town. She hasn't been very lucky in her love life. She is having dreams of being on an old fashioned ship with a handsome man standing at the railing, when the darn alarm clock goes off. Her cat Hecate licks her face letting Luna it's time to eat. She has another dream of being on the same ship during a horrendous storm and being thrown into the ocean. Her handsome gentleman comes to her rescue and gets her to a piece of board to hold onto. Unfortunately, he gets hit on the head by a board and disappears. She wakes up and *sigh*, so wishes she could meet a man like that. One night she takes a walk along the beach and this man comes out of the ocean with seaweed on him. It's the man from her dreams. Imagine, the man is Colin Wiltshire from the year 1645!!!!
What ensues is a magical, romantic story with twists and turns. Loved the storyline and the characters. I just love this magical town of Cat's Paw Cove and so looking forward to more stories in this new series.

A Witch in Time was a quick and fun read. I always enjoy a light time travel trope - one where you don’t get caught up in the science but simply enjoy someone’s awe of what the future has to offer. The main characters fall in love super fast, but that is too be expected in such a short book. Cat’s Paw Cove promises to be a setting I want to return to often!

Fun start to a new series. Luna is a twenty-first-century witch, baker, and cat rescuer. She also has terrible luck with men. This year, for Founders Day, she is determined to avoid repeating past mistakes. But when she stumbles across a man who is a dead ringer for the one who has haunted her dreams, her good intentions go right out the window.

Colin is very confused. The last thing he remembers is being on a ship bound for Barbados, along with his pregnant wife. He's looking to start a new life and get away from the troubles he inherited. A freak storm washed him overboard, and now he's in a world he doesn't recognize. If not for the blue-haired angel who comes to his rescue he would be in even deeper trouble.

I liked both Luna and Colin. Colin is an honorable man who wants to make a good life for himself and his pregnant wife. Even when tossed overboard, he attempts to save others before being sucked underwater. He's understandably confused when he stumbles out of the water into a strange new world. His reactions are fun to see. Luna is a talented baker and also runs a cat rescue. She's a bit tired of dealing with the weirdos that come out for Founders Day, but she'll deal with it. I liked how she thought Colin was just another of them and wanted to help anyway.

It was fun to watch the relationship develop between Colin and Luna. There were sparks between them from the start, but Colin was determined to get back to his own time. I liked seeing the two together as they were drawn to each other. Colin was surprised by his unexpected jealousy and wondered what it indicated about his relationship with his wife. As they worked together to get Colin onto the Ship Museum, the connection between them grew. There are some surprising twists in store that will affect Colin's plans for the future.

There is also a bit of suspense as there are rumors that there is a treasure aboard the museum ship. Colin wants to see if the item he hid on board is still there. They run into unexpected trouble, and the confrontation is pretty intense. The identity of the culprit is a surprise. I liked Colin's decision about the item he found. The epilogue was great, and I loved the surprise he added to his latest invention.

This was an entertaining read, and I'm looking forward to reading more of this series.

I needed this!
What a purrfect cozy read

A delicious blend of fantasy and romance that delivers a smile

The last thing that Collin remembers is his ship was capsizing he was seeking his wife out in the wreckage now he finds himself cast upon the shore possibly being lured by a blue-haired siren who insists he allows the local wench to treat his ills with items reminiscent of torture devices whilst pirates run amok and wonders that must be magic abound
He needs to find answers and it seems the blue-haired maiden is his only chance at getting them

A dollop of insta-love (blame the cat) a sprinkle of who done (I would have liked to have delved into this a bit more 🤷 but it is a cozy short) and a touch of out of this world fantasy combined to bring to the reader a perfect beach side read

A Witch In Time: Book One in the Cat's Paw Cove Romance series, is a wonderful introduction to the town. Catherine Kean and Wynter Daniels are award-winning authors who teamed up to create a brand-new magical town. In Book 1, we meet Luna and Colin who couldn't possibly be compatible lovers. No way! Who could believe Colin's story about washing up on the beach claiming to be from 1645? Certainly not Luna, a modern-day witch who runs the Cat's Cove Café. If she's smart, she should run fast and far from a crazy person like Colin. But guess what? He just might be telling the truth. If he is, could he possibly be the man who brings her the happy-ever-after she desires? Ummm. I'm not telling. I think you're going to love reading this story to find out for yourself.

This was a lot of fun and very enjoyable, but I wish it had been longer. It may be me being greedy because of how much fun I had with the story, but I feel like their relationship could have been built a bit better had it been longer.

Regardless, it was a good read and I’ll be continuing the series.

This is a new to me author. I really enjoyed this story. There was the magic, the romance, the strong sense of right and wrong. The author did a great job of weaving it all together. It definitely is a easy, extremely good read. I enjoy the way the author told this story.

This was a fun, quick read. Colin is shipwrecked in 1645 and ends up in the 21st century looking for his wife and unborn baby. Luna, unlucky in men, helps Colin. There is mystery, near murder and love that all happens in a very short period of time. If you are looking for a cozy read, check out this book!

I really liked the premise of this book. The only problem I had with it is its length. The storyline was interesting and the characters were great. The MC's Luna and Colin were very likable. I would have loved to read more about the interactions between the characters and the background of the "bad guy." The book is an insta-love story. If this trope bothers you, this might not be the book for you. Overall, I found it to be a pleasurable afternoon of reading.

honestly, i feel this went to fast. I know it was a short story, but as the first in a series i am left with questions about the world in general. the characters were cute but i real no real emotional attachment to them. It was a fun read but it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been.

This is a cute and fun novella. It has pirates, time travel, magic, and a cute small town. Colin was thrown from a ship in 1645 and wakes up in the 21st century. Luna discovers him on the beach. After her bad track record with guys, she expects more of the same.

Although I enjoyed the story, I wish it was a little longer. Things progressed very quickly between Colin and Luna.

I can already tell after only one book that I will want to revisit the world of Cat's Paw Cove over and over again. Super cute story. Loved the mix of magic and real world. Colin's wonder and confusion about the modern world was fun! I'm a fan of cats so having a little town where cats are beloved really put it over the top for me. Also, I enjoy history so I loved the flash back to the 1600s.

I enjoyed this cute, fun read. Colin is a sweetheart with bad luck. Luna has bad luck with men but it will improve except Colin is long ways and time away. Magical cats, witches, time travel and an adorable couple in Luna and Colin. Small coastal town with friendly locals.

Luna opened her eyes and wondered where she was. She was alone in the deck of an old fashioned ship. Then she saw him but right after her alarm went off, didn’t even get to kiss him. Than her cat Hectate licked her chin and just before meowed It was 4:39 am and in a half hour luna needed to be at the cafe Cove Cat Cafe- her cafe. After a shower she told her brother Leo it was time to get up. Today was also Founders day and there was a lot to do. Jordan was her employee and friend. They had a booth for the Founders Day celebration. Jordan and Luna were working the booth, Leo was working the cafe. Luna’s stomach was in knots, twice in the past three years she’d met gys she dated at Caw Paw Cove’s biggest annual event and the relationships had ended badly. How could she know glen had a fiance in NY and they had dated for four months. Last year Founders Day Tim had convinced her to go out with him, the jerk strung her along for three months before telling her he preferred men. He’d merely been trying to go straight for his consewrvative parents. If only she could shake off that witchy premonition something was going to happen today today to shake her world.Luna went home after the celebration, Leo said he would close the cafe. She fell asleep and had that dream about the ship but this time a giant wave from the storm washed her overboard. Her hero saved her but then she was hit with debris and Luna sank. There was Chuck but she couldn’t encourage his perusal of her. Her go to self care treatment was always a long walk near the shore. Storms didn’t usually frighten Luns, but this one made her nervous. Her favorite spot was a narrow strip of beach below the highest dunes, close to the entrance to several of the area’s underground tunnels. Then she saw a man coming toward her. It was the man of her dreams.
This was the cutest short story I have read in a long time. I loved Colin and Luna together and how they interacted. I was glad Colin found out about his wife that he had been so worried about. I loved how Jordan could talk to animals and the paranormal aspect of this book. I loved how Colin was protective of Luna and Rebecca. Just an all around great, fast, short read. I loved the plot and pace. I didn’t put this down and read it in one sitting. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

The main characters in this story; Colin and Luna are ones you are going to love. This cozy mystery is an easy read and I read the entire novel in one sitting. My only complaint is that the book is way too short. It should have been more in-depth. However, still a great read.

I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion. I highly recommend this book 5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Catherine Kean and Wynter Daniels have started an amazing new series!!! It’s definitely one that you will not want to miss!!!!

The story takes place in Cat’s Paw Cove, Florida – which is truly a magical town. The story starts with Colin Wiltshire and his expectant wife, taking the ship across the ocean from England to Barbados in 1645. When the ship experiences a horrendous storm and he is thrown into the ocean, his main concern is saving his wife. Now the scene changes to modern day in Cat’s Paw Cove, Florida. Luna Halpren is a fantastic baker for the Cove Cat Café. Luna is also a witch in this magical town. Luna doesn’t have the best track record with her love life until one night when she has a dream. In her dream, she is on an old fashioned ship and sees a handsome man standing by the railing – when what should happen??? Her alarm clock wakes her up. I don’t write spoilers – but OMG, what happens next is amazing. You really need to read the book to find out what happens to Luna!! And let me say this – once you start reading, you will have a hard time stopping until you reach the ending!!!

Now I need to know this – When does the next book of the series come out???

REVIEW
In this story, we have mystery, time travel, and yep a whole lot of funny.
Luna who owns the cafe in town and her friend Jordan will be running their goods at the towns Founders Day Event. Luna is a bit tired however due to weird dreams she's had been having. She wonders to herself it it may have something to do with what the Sheriff warned them about? Naww couldn't be or could it? She has sworn off weird men after one too many screwed up dates, and is just gonna go home to rest.

Colin is from the past, lost when his ship goes down with his wife and unborn child but? was it his child? Well, he ends up on Cat's Paw Cove somehow and right in the arms of Luna? or does he?
Well haha, I am not going to tell you. You need to grab this story and read it, I guarantee you will find it thrilling, and funny.

Cat's Paw Cove was founded by the survivors of a shipwreck, a ship sailing from England to Barbados. Over 300 years ago, a terrible storm caused the ship to run aground, and although most of the passengers managed to survive it, Colin Wiltshire was one of the unfortunate ones who did not make it. What no one knew was that somehow, he made it though the time portal instead and ended up in the twenty first century. Luna had been having some vivid dreams about a handsome young man in a ship wreck and boy, was she surprised when she found the very same guy on the beach a few days later.

I don't generally read romance but this sweet short paranormal romance made me smile and I enjoyed it very much. I liked the paranormal time travelling part but Colin and Luna's relationship was a very nice bonus and a lovely bit of happily ever after is always a good thing! I will certainly be happy to read more from the imagination of Kean & Daniels.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A charming and engaging novella. Very well written, easy to read and to picture the story and characters and I needed to finish it without a break, because I wanted to know what happened! I loved that the Colin was from 1645 England (his character felt authentic, which was excellent) and Luna was from modern day America. The back story was good and well thought out and I felt I was there in the shipwreck with the hero. The romance was 'sweet', however, I would have liked a lot more time and detail invested on it, as it felt a bit glossed over and rushed - which stopped me from giving it 5 stars. I get that this is a novella, but still, the book would have been more rounded for me with a few more chapters filling in the gaps in the middle as the H/h got to know each other. A great ending and I would recommend this book to all romance lovers and I look forward to reading more stories in the series. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. 😍

Luna is one of the magic weilding citizens of Cat's Paw Cove. Along with her brother Leo, who seems to be the town Romeo, she runs the local bakery. After working at the local founders day festival she finds a bedraggled but still very handsome refugee from a shipwreck. Poor lad must have bumped his head cos he's now trapped in his reenactment persona!

Colin had been sailing to the Caribbean with his new wife when the storm struck. Now he has awoken in a very strange world. But one where his mad inventions, once mocked by his peers, would not seem out of place. But how can he return to his family? Can he trust this witch? What will actually await him on his return?

Hecate the cat has some very weird talents! Colin solowly realises that the past he left might not be as perfect as the present in which he has found himself! Sweet romance which sprouts from a new friendship. Mysterty robberies and family secrets galore!
