Princess Lina is loving groundling school. Her magic is still under wraps, she hangs out with BFF Claudia every day, and soon their class is taking a field trip to see penguins at the city aquarium!
Up in the sky, Lina's Granddad has decided to invite her mischievous cousin Jack Frost to give Lina extra tutorials in Winterheart magic. But when Jack tags along with Lina to school, his tricks wreak havoc on the big field trip. Can Lina keep her cool and save the day?

We’re back reading another from the Diary of an Ice Princess series! In the third installment, On Thin Ice, Lina’s cousin Jack Frost comes to visit to help teach her Winterheart magic. He also goes to “regular” school with her and on their class field trip to the aquarium.
I’m not quite sure what it is about these books I find so adorable. I think because it’s full of relatable little girl problems (jealousy is a big theme in this), but told with a bit of winter magic. I feel like they have a perfect chapter length to read a couple a night without reading the entire book in one sitting. And I really appreciate the pictures too. Definitely would highly recommend!
Another wonderful book in the Ice Princess series, in this one, we discover that Lina's cousin is Jack Frost, and he is coming over to visit. Lina is very jealous of Jack, because his wintery magic is so perfect, much more than hers. Jack probably has a similar age to Lina, or at least, not too much older, because he goes to school with her for the week as a special visiting guest. The jealousy that Lina has for Jack bubbles up during the school field trip to the aquarium... which of course, leads to an ice land of trouble.
Lina's cousin Jack comes to visit from the South (Australia). Lina struggles with jealousy since they both have the same powers. She learns important lessons about competition, showing off, and what is often going on beneath the surface of jealousy.
Fun book. #3 in the series and Lina is learning so much about herself and her magic. My 7 year old reads a chapter a night to me and loves them. Great story with a good message and sweet characters.
A look at jealousy and one-manship and cousins. Lina is jealous of her cousin's aptitude with controlling all things frosty, but it turns out he's jealous of her family life.
