He's been waiting a long time...

When Nicole MacFerran finds a 19th century box camera, along with a handful of old crime scene photographs, in her grandmother's attic, she's intrigued. Wondering if the camera still works, she takes a picture, unknowingly cracking open Pandora's box and letting an ancient evil slither out.

That night the killings start.

As coincidences stack up, Nicole realizes there is a horrifying connection...and it's personal. Very personal. A killer is coming after her holding a grudge. A very old grudge.

She can't go to the police...they would never believe her chilling discovery. It is up to her to deal with this evil before he kills her entire family trying to get to her.

Cain’s Mark is one of those rare thrillers that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go until the final page. T. H. Munsey blends crime, history, and the supernatural into a tale that is as chilling as it is clever. The premise is brilliant: a dusty old camera, some disturbing photographs, and the release of something far darker than anyone bargained for.

Nicole MacFerran makes for a strong, relatable lead—an everyday photographer suddenly thrust into a nightmare that spans centuries. Her transformation from innocent observer to determined fighter feels natural and keeps the emotional stakes high. Add in Jackson Radford, a terrifying villain caught in the “In-Between” and driven by vengeance, and you’ve got an antagonist who lingers in the mind long after the book is closed.

The pacing is excellent—yes, it takes a couple of chapters to get moving, but once it does, it’s relentless. The atmosphere is vivid, the history behind the supernatural threat well-researched, and the tension builds with every chapter. I stayed up way too late reading this and don’t regret a minute.

If you like Dean Koontz or early Stephen King, this book is right up your alley. A brilliant start to The Andarius Legacy series—I’ll definitely be diving straight into book two.

PS. As of today's date. Sept 2025. The cover on Goodreads is horrible. Much better on Amazon.

Cain’s Mark is a suspense thriller that is imaginative and very well written.

An evil, malicious force dwells within the In Between, an existence outside of human experiences, which can be called forth through existing portals into the human world either through known incantations or accidentally by unintentional happenstance. And when it appears it will occupy a human body and engage in a terrible, sadistic, bloody murder spree, starting with the Biblical Cain but most famously as London’s Jack the Ripper. It comes and goes between these two worlds and seems incapable of being killed (and hence the book’s title); only returned to the In Between for indefinite periods of time.

There is one human family, the MacFerrans, who seem to have a gift that appears occasionally in one of their generations that enables that person to successfully battle this malevolent force, thus unfolds this truly interesting novel.

A double timeline between these two worlds 19th Century and now as well as switching occasionally between the In Between and the human world adds a very interesting aspect to it and the novel ends wanting me to actually acquire volume two of this four volume series, as the adventure is clearly not over.

A good page turner and time well spent if you are interested in this genre.

Cain's Mark is a stay up all night thriller. A great read! --Scott Hampton, author of The Upturned Stone

T.H. Munsey's CAIN'S MARK is startling in its ability to grab the reader at the outset in such an unyielding and unnerving manner as to be almost bothersome if it were not also understood that it is perfectly natural to be "bothered" by such a gripping encounter with the uncanny. I congratulate the first time author's sure hand in delivering a slow walk down an ancient cobblestone alley however much we may want to run through it. -- Bo Hampton, Author (with Robert Tinnell) of SIGHT UNSEEN, Rue Morgue Magazine's Best Horror Graphic Novel 2006

Whenever great, witty, insightful characters get into hair-raisingly terrifying situations, it makes for non-stop reader anxiety......this novel nearly drove me to tranquilizers! Can't wait for the continuing adventure! -- B. Mack, Goodreads

This novel was fast paced and intriguing from the first chapter. It’s an action packed thriller that throws Jack the Ripper into present day. I’m looking forward to reading more in the series!
