'I'm not a thief. I'm an innocent man,' shouts Brown. He is angry because he is in prison and the prison guards hate him. Then one day Brown has an idea. It is dangerous - very dangerous.
This story is talking about a prisoner called Brown, who is often laughed by others. He has stayed in prisoner for five years. His dream was that he hoped to fly like a bird in the sky. So, he decided to escape from the prison. He found a book with a photograph showing a map near a prison. He decided to escape following the map. One day he hid on the top of the room. The guard did not see him. When he saw the guard leaving, Brown took the shortest way to leave the room and ran to the forest. Brown had been through a lot of adventures. He ran and ran till he was too exhausted to run. The guard even led dog to search for him. He just grabbed someone’s bicycle and had been crashed by some cars. Later, he just needed to find a place to sleep. Then he ran into a barn and stayed with the cow for a whole night. He was trying to escape and finally he ran close to an airport. There, he ran into a big box waiting for a chance to be transported into the plane together with the box. Unfortunately, they had so many boxes that the transportation guy just moved out some of them. So, Brown had been caught by the guard. He went back into to prison again. In the night he looked out of the window. Then, he came out a new idea...
This is a graphic novel. The whole book is very colorful and vivid. Similar to comic books, the book style is interesting, too. There is a big picture on each page showing characters. Basically, the graphic book uses thick and thin lines to represent the whole picture. It is full of strength and sometimes emphasizes something. For example, when Brown was in prison, the background color was gray. Whereas, when he escaped from the prison, the background color tuned totally into blue. As we know, Grey means negative energy and blue means melancholy and passive. So, the appropriate background colors helped the little kids understand the adventure of the hero. I appreciate this kind of detailed strategy adopted in the graphic book.
In general, the whole book seems a little bit sad. Brown always wanted to get out the prison. After he ran out the prison, he always escaped and never had time to relax and realize his dreams. Before he got caught, he was still dreaming he could fly like a bird because he dreamed of freedom he never had it.
