Midnight Shift
When two patients of respected surgeon, Dr. Elizabeth Brooks, die under odd circumstances, she is threatened with loss of medical privileges, a malpractice suit and financial ruin. Elizabeth is determined to discover why her patients are having unexpected complications but her anxiety only escalates when handsome Detective Jake Wagner shows up in her office looking for information as part of a criminal investigation. Distressed, she begins to dream about her dead patients. Elizabeth has dreamt of the dead before, something she experienced after being hit by a drunk driver when she was young. For years after the accident, Elizabeth resisted the dreams and kept the dead away. But now, the dead are reaching out again. Realizing she needs help to save herself and her career, Elizabeth has no choice but to welcome them back and hope that sometimes the dead can protect the living.

As a child, I loved to read, whenever and whatever I could get my hands on. I started to write my own "Nancy Drew" type mystery in fifth grade. As a student, I studied Biology in Vermont, Sciences and Literature in college and eventually became a physician. I enjoy writing mysteries that contain medical and light spiritual content. Either way, a good murder mystery is always fun.
Misty Manor - Three years have passed since Hurricane Sandy devastated the New Jersey Shore as Megan Stanford returns to her childhood home to find her elderly grandmother and the family Grand Victorian home in a state of shocking neglect. As the town threatens to sue to ensure demolition of the guest cottages behind Misty Manor, mystery unfolds in the once quiet town of Misty Point, NJ. A dead body found in the debris, threatening messages, and vandalism, combined with an eerie sixty year old photograph, bring the investigation closer to home. Megan continues to dig for the truth and unwittingly begins to unravel a decades old secret, which threatens her and the future of Misty Manor.
My first book, The Bench, is set in the fictional town of Rocky Meadow, VT. The Rocky Meadow Mystery series then continues with Fatal Breach and Sacred Gold, although each book can be read as a stand alone, just like your favorite episodes of a mystery show. Dr. Amy Daniels is a trauma surgeon who moves to Rocky Meadow, VT to escape family tragedy. There she meets, Father Michael Lauretta, the psychologist pastor of St. Francis church and Rocky Meadow Retreat Center. Together, they solve a mystery and search for a killer with the help of Katie, the church cook, Willow, a teenage millionaire, Father Victor, visiting priest from Chicago and Tony Noce, owner of Hasco's Bar and Grill. In Fatal Breach, the characters become involved with cybercrime and a murder at a local soup kitchen. Sacred Gold is about gold treasure buried in the catacombs of the church. There is murder as well as a race to see who finds gold first.
While solving crimes, the main characters deal with life, loss, starting over and developing an appreciation for the friends and loved ones in their lives.
Linda Rawlins lives in New Jersey with her family. When she is not working in medicine, she is writing.

I have not read a medical thriller in a number of years and decided to start with this one. I was not disappointed. Linda Rawlins is a writer of mystery books, and this novel definitely has an element of mystery to it with twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. I have to admit that I try to figure out how a book will end, but got this ending wrong on all counts, as it finished in a whirlwind of suspense.
The main character is 30 something Doctor Elizabeth Brooks who is a coffee drinking, sleep deprived (nightmare plagued) surgeon who is highly competent in her field. However, when patients start dying after surgery, she is thrust into the spotlight. Detective Jake Wagner, is called in to investigate the mysterious deaths and the chemistry between these two gets interesting as the novel progresses.
Midnight Shift is a fast paced read and I highly recommend it for the reader who enjoys thrillers. A well-deserved five stars!

Dr. Elizabeth Brooks faces financial devastation after a couple of her patients suspiciously pass away. Her unease intensifies once good-looking Investigator Jake Wagner arrives at her workplace seeking evidence of the possibly felonious case.
Elizabeth has haunting dreams that are becoming debilitating. The deceased are beckoning her, and she feels the need to let them help her.
This was a clever, captivating, mystery. Midnight Shift (A Dr. Elizabeth Brooks Mystery Book 1) is profound and the characters have their distinctions and intricacies.

I enjoyed this book very much. It had a little of everything in it. Crime, medicine, suspense, beach and great description of it, light romance, paranormal, animal lover, and even kidnapping with intent to kill.
