"Red Roses For My Love" is Edgar Holmes' third book of poetry, and his most personal and fulfilling yet. It is a love letter, a journey of struggles, and a beautiful journey. Unconditional love spills out of every page, from a deep well of beautiful love unlike anything else in this world. "As long as I'm alive, you will always have fresh roses waiting for you on your dresser." Put on some music, do some self care, and let this book be a gentle embrace to your soul.
“your love makes even the most mundane things feel like a miracle”
Honestly just BRAVO to anyone that cherishes their spouse this much. These poetry books were honestly the perfect way to express that love🥹❤️. 5 stars🌟 I will 100% be rereading these and I’m tempted to buy physical copies😏
“i was never too good at mathematics i found it confusing and unhelpful but you did it so effortlessly and even though i once despised it entirely; even math reflecting a piece of you is beautiful somehow”
“just because your life includes sad chapters doesn’t mean it’s a bad one the loveliest stories are composed of ups and downs of challenges and trials your story though it may include sad chapters will have the happy ending you always wanted”
“i made a wish i wished for you on the breeze the seedlings blew”
“being with you isn’t just about not being alone it’s so much more than that being with you brings out the best in me”
“you may feel like you are nothing special but one day the one for you will look at you and see everything they were waiting all their life for”
It was definitely better than the last two books and this book has some illustrations in it which might make it a little interesting for some people. I was having a great time reading it until these two quotes/poems: 1. 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝙈𝙤𝙯𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝘽𝙚𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠 𝙑𝙖𝙣 𝙂𝙤𝙜𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙍𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 (hey dude, maybe don't write about your wife like this, just a suggestion. And the illustration that was under this poem was not of human but a zombie.)
2. 𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙚. [A whole freaking page with just one word written on it. How did the publishers or editors or whoever checks what is to be published { I'm only 17, I don't know anything(TS reference)} allow this to be in the book before printing and selling it?]
I'm so furious I can't think straight enough to edit this review so here you go
The author sounds confused af does he himself know what he's trying to say If this is one of the first few books that people just getting onto poetry read, I will personally apologize to them. I would rate this a 0.00000000001 if I could. I'm rendered speechless by how just MERE SENTENCES are being portrayed as fine poetry. I understand that poetry is different for every person but this is just words strung together in a failed effort to sound sophisticated. The subtle nuances of poetry are so miniscule you can't see them through an electron microscope at its highest strength. I might just hate it more than tsld and thats saying something. After just a few pages it starts getting exasperatingly repetitive and AGGRESSIVELY unoriginal. If i wasn't embarrassingly desperate to crawl closer towards my reading goal, I would never pick this and the author's other books again. But who's the say the other books are just as bad? I hope I'm proven wrong, please. It's third book in the collection, too.
Also, thank you author for telling me that I'm loved 18 times in a row in the excuse of a poetry and even though I appreciate it, you have effectively made it redundant 👍
Also, the text structure just abruptly switches? What is that?
If you're looking for a quick poetry read, Edgar Holmes has you covered. The poems aren't particularly deep, but the messages in each one are lovely. Despite the fact that all of his poems are very personal to him, I found myself in the pages of his book. I can't write all of my fave quotes but let me add this as a reminder. "do not forget though it is cold and drenches your clothes there would be no beautiful flowers without the rain"
This book sums up everything . I have gotten the courage to ask the one I love. Her name is adamari. She makes me feel different and I just feeling like there is a connection between me and her. Edgar man you have really helped me a lot by expressing your feelings through your books. Hopefully I have the same courage you do.
Poetry books will always be my favorite reads a little bit of each book I read shows you what you have in life and inside you, sometimes it also lets you know what you have to work on or what you are missing out on in life. Here are some of my favorite pages from this beautiful book, Enjoy.

-You give so much love to everything and everyone on this earth
except yourself.

There will always be those in your life who want to convince you that you owe them a piece of yourself despite the fact that they give nothing in return
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my darling, you bring the light wherever you go
some people will always feel entitled to your time
never let someone lay claim to any part of you that you do not want to share
as you blow on your coffee taking in the smell i look upon the mountain peaks all around and think
i couldn't have been more lucky.
excitement isn't the only things that matters, you know.
rollercoasters are fun. once in a while but i would never want to live on one.
do not forget
though it is cold and drenches your clothes there would be no beautiful flowers without the rain
the gentle perfume of the ocean
the world at peace with itself
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
even if you fall even if the rain threatens to drown you
do not forget that you are strong enough to rise above the wave
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
your story is never over
even when life is dark
i ponder the mysteries of the stars
wondering what they know that i could never grasp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
do not let anyone enter your life who believes that treating you with the respect and loyalty you deserve is merely optional
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
you are such a lovely person glowing with love some people just want to sit in your light and soak it up without ever giving anything back
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
be forgiving but not a pushover be strong but not arrogant be loving but keep your standards
A wholesome read. Surely makes love sound like a wonderful thing to feel and be reciprocated.
A couple of quotes I enjoyed rather immensely;
• “the problem with writing about you is that there is nothing more poetic in this world than the wordless way you look at me in those small, small, loving moments.”
• “have you ever bought a notebook with a beautiful design and almost didn’t want to write in it for fear of ruining it? Loving you was kind of like that.”
• “even the most beautiful of flowers beginning as a seed will never bloom if it is not planted in loving soil.”
• “i like to think there have been many times we have met before and not realized it our fairy tale is too perfect not to include some foreshadowing”
• “sometimes even though i have seen it a million times i catch a glimpse of that ring on your finger and smile involuntarily every day i grow more grateful that you are mine”
• “her eyes-you could spend a lifetime looking into those eyes and never run out of new details to fall in love with.”
Reading this was like reading google search results to “popular instagram captions”.
There’s some poetry in there but everything else felt like generic inspirational quotes.
writing stuff like this does not make it poetry !
I found that the best way to enjoy, if not simply tolerate, the author’s “poetry collections” is to start with very low expectations. Don’t expect anything deep or wonderfully written. This book is basically a collection of thoughts and statements, not poetry.
Her Favorite Color was Yellow :1.5/5 stars For When She's Feeling Blue: 2/5 stars Red Roses For My Love: 3/5 stars
I must say, I'm a little surprised with this one. I think that I liked it more 'cause it felt more raw and personal and not like someone writing just so it sounds relatable and inspirational, but that's just my take on it.
Español: 'Red roses for my love'es sobre nunca darse por vencido en el amor, en nuestros sueños de ser amados por quienes somos por un compañero/a que verdaderamente nos ame y nos entienda. Y sobre nunca darse por vencido en la vida.
English: 'Red roses for my love' is about never give up on love, never give up on your dreams of being loved for exactly who you are, by a partner who loves and truly understands you. Never give up on this life.
Favs: "you give so much love to everything and everyone on this earth except yourself."
"the waves crash do you hear them? or do they fade into a roar as they accumulate? and so i wonder in my life if all i am will be lost to the noise of humanity"
"even if you fall even if the rain threatens to drown you do not forget that you are strong enough to rise above the waves"
"it’s okay for your dreams to change it’s okay for what you want to change do not be afraid of the changes of life because that’s what makes it life"
"just because your life includes sad chapters doesn’t mean it’s a bad one the lovelies stories are composed of ups and downs of challenges and trials your story though it may include sad chapters will have the happy ending you always wanted"
"bravery does not prevent fear bravery emerges from fear speaking out declaring you will not be moved"
"be patient with yourself learning self love can be a long and difficult process"
‘Red roses for my love’ is a collection of poetry about many topics I will be talking about.
Short poems that talk about falling in love and getting lost in the feeling and that person and rekindling friendships.
I would say most of the poems fall into the category of the process of falling in love with someone and its stages, among with others that talk about rekindling friendships and letting go of the toxic people in life. Learn to love yourself by not letting those same toxic people with their toxic behaviours rust your soul.
I liked it but I don't think this is the kind of poetry I look for and wish to read. It was okay and some of the poems were pretty good.
"i remember every rose i have given you they were each special in their own ways"
I don't know if this is going to make sense, but reading most of the poems in this book made me feel like I was under my favorite blanket on a cold day. However, I'm only giving it three stars because despite the heartwarming content, I feel like there's something missing and I'm not sure what.
Gran parte de los poemas de este libro te hacen sentir más como que estás leyendo frases en Tumblr, no me refiero a que no sean buenos, sino que no tienen la misma carga emocional que los de otros autores o que otros libros de este mismo autor. Sin embargo, disfruté mucho leer el libro, aunque no soy una gran fam de la fosa que tiene para separar cada verso.
It was powerful! It was amazing. It showed you how to be strong and loving. Love yourself so that we can love others! The only reason I docked One star is because it didn’t leave me with that feeling of empowerment like some poetry books do. It had empowering messages it just didn’t hype you up the same way. Although I still recommend it because it is really good, and makes you love love!
It was exactly as titled, it was a collection of lovely poetry to his love- the love of his life. So tell me where do I get a guy like that? A guy who writes poetry and dedicate it to his love. Tell me Edgar are you the only kind? An extinct specie of man- the last of his kind? All I can say is that "sana all po."
This is not poetry. There was one passage that made me pause but otherwise this was all eyerolls from me. It felt like reading inspirational quote pictures on Pinterest, it wasn’t moving and didn’t feel original at all.
"your last man never listened when you talked to him about your day at work or the drama between co-workers i always wanted to make a point of showing you i care about even these smallest of details."
This book, in comparison to the last two, is the best by far. It is so deep and personal. It feels like he is talking to me instead of writing a declaration of love to his wife. I was sweet, sensual, and overall a good read. Love it!
