Family, writing, traveling, friends, enjoying the world while I'm here to enoy it, hopefully to leave something worthwhile behind: this is my life.

My novella, DELPHINE, published by Texas Review Press, won the Clay Reynolds Novella Competition. I've also published three novels (THE NIGHT ACTION, New American Library and Signet Books; MAN ON FIRE, Pyramid Books; and STREET SMARTS, Beaufort Books and Ace Books.) Recently, I’ve also completed a new novel and I always have several projects in progress.

My first novel, THE NIGHT ACTION, originally published in 1966, has been republished with a new cover and author introduction by Automat Press as an ebook, available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and other sources. It has been called the "last great novel of the Beat culture."

I've published short fiction in nearly three dozen magazines and literary journals, including: The High Plains Literary Review, Runner's World Annual, Hawaii Review, The Long Story, Eclipse, The Drill Press, The Main Street Rag, Clapboard House, South Carolina Review, The Blue Lake Review, Danse Macabre, and The New Renaissance.

My novella WASH N WEAR was a finalist in the 2011 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Novella Competition. I received Honorable Mention in the 2006 Dana Awards for short fiction and received second place in the fourth Louise E. Reynolds Memorial Fiction Awards.

My wife and I have traveled to and explored more than 60 countries. We have become especially fascinated by the Middle East, where DELPHINE is set and where several of my short stories also take place. We also found Southeast Asia both beautiful and intriguing.

This book was about a girl named TC, for short, who sees this boy named Caper getting abused by his mother and stepdad. TC doesn't like to see Caper being bruised up all the time and takes a stand. She and Caper moves to San Francisco as runaways!!!!!!
