"Starting today, I will formally become the king of this Kingdom of Friedonia."

Having returned from the Union of Eastern Nations and rested awhile, the ceremony that will turn Souma from a provisional king to the true king is rapidly approaching. Because Souma's marriage to his fiancées is to be held on the same day, the capital gets more lively than ever!

Meanwhile, using his own marriage as an impetus, Souma encourages his retainers to get married, too. Those who are already engaged to be married, those who aren't ready to be husband and wife yet, those who haven't even recognized their own love—Souma shows concern for all his retainers' different circumstances...

Worst of the series

I've enjoyed all of the previous novels in the series. This one tries to tie up most of the romantic lines among the characters. Unfortunately there is far more 'splaining' and pointless emotional exploration than story. At about 3/4 t through I quit forcing my way through.

This one is super cute! Starts off slow and the entire book is about all the various weddings of all the characters (even the side characters) in the story.

The author admits in the notes sections that to go into this level of detail on all the subplots seemed unconventional but it was done at the readers' requests for a clean wrap-up to all the various romance subplots that have been happening to the side characters so far.

It's a nice different type of plot setting for this book as the 10th book in the series.

Personally I enjoyed the sections near the end which also delved into the story behind Queen Elisha's wedding from the past. The scenes featuring the dragons during the weddings were also very heartwarming.

Volume 10 is a bit of an intermezzo. It is the bitter-sweet, mostly sweet, story of Souma's and several of his loyal retainers' marriage and admissions of love. No real politics, no fights, no action, just sweet interaction, remanence and character development. It might not be for everybody, but I liked it. Looking forward to when the story picks up again though...

I’d thought about give it 4 stars, then the bonus chapter came in.

Yeah, like I said in the headline. I don’t want to say the same line again. So that’s about it.

Do not recommend. The whole volume is a mass wedding theme and sadly I did not partake on the Kool-Aid, and thus, find myself completely out of this volume 10. Souma's last name is going to be Elfrieden and not Moon. So it's not a cult he is trying to make by getting everyone hitched in this volume.
Author has a deep desire in this series for every character to pair up, marry, settle down and have offspring. It is a rare sight. Cupid or Celestine, maybe it was part of a Valentine's volume special? Especially in such an unsafe alternate reality world. Is it to have more tax-payers, more consumers in the Friedonia kingdom? Is it to have more secondary plot arcs and fillers within this light novel? Is governance still a theme in this series? The mass marriage in the Friedonia Kingdom is set for April and I'm pretty sure Saint Valentine is unknown in this alternate reality world.
Author places importance in the creation of a drill. Hasn't really explained reasons.

Finally, after ten books Souma is really crowned as King and marries his family. There's a lot more romance in this book than the others, as even the secondary characters get to question marriage and get to tie the knot themselves, some of them more interestingly than Souma himself. Lots of polygamous unions here, Souma's feeling very natural at it (this family was built up for 9 previous books after all), others feeling more practical about it, others even a bit awkward (Hal's story of doubt was quite refreshing). Elisha's side story was also quite romantic and it was nice to have a more lived account of her time travel story. We can feel that a chapter is closing, and a new one will open: the kingdom has been rebuilt and is going better and better, our hero king is crowned, married and is taking care of his children, now what next.

Souma mentions how it is a shame no one gets his references. I live in his world and I don't get them, either. You need to be Japanese or know their culture to get all those references. And, honestly, it gets old pretty fast. At the beginning I would look them up but, at this point, I just let them be.

This book is just the weddings. All the couples that the author has been hinting at for the last 9 volumes are finally getting together. Most of them marry. I didn't like that a whole book was dedicated to this but at least we got that out of the way. Yes, this is the worst book in the series so far. Let's hope the following ones get better.

Consult a thesaurus please.

Whoever edits for the translations really needs to find another way to say or describe "wry smile."
It is so distracting and jarring to constantly see it pop up in such rapid succession in this volume.
Other than that, I have been continuing to enjoy the story as it is.

Entertaining Read

A lot of romantic lines come together as Souma officially is crowned and marries his fiances. He influences his subordinates to get married as well. Backstory is added by the previous Queen's memories. I like the romance, humor, and politics. I look forward to the next book.

Souma and his entourage are back in the Kingdom and here comes at last when Souma will marry and become true King. This volume shows the various characters that have been living together and are now getting married. This is a nice pit stop on the way before more wars or demons come calling.

Easy to read.

A nice enough story with a wrap up of the current story arc. If you're still invested in this series after this book, there are enough new plot points raised that indicate more to come.

I just want to say this.. I enjoy the series, and this book was very much a denouement ; most of it was resolving items that had been set out. I fully planned on giving it a 3 star 'liked it' or 4 star 'really liked it'.
Then I read the final chapter or afterward. Yep, five-stars 'amazing'. In the months since I last read this (after all, volume 11 isn't out yet), I will go back and read just that chapter. Not that I didn't enjoy the rest of it, I appreciated how issues were being resolved and we were reminded of things that hadn't been brought up in a few volumes.. but that last chapter pulled it into the highest rating.

It seriously feels like it's been forever since I discovered this series. This was actually the first book I ever got on my Kindle and I've enjoyed every bit of this series since then
Looking forward to next volume

Romance ahoy!!

This is a another good book that finally resolves some 'ships ' and made for some throw up cutesy parts. As usual I look forward to the next book and what will be the next adventure?

I gave it a 4 star mostly because I felt some things happened too much in a rush to satisfy some 'shippers'
