Welcome home.

I left Kings Court in the back of an ambulance and swore I would never come back. Now, with no job, no apartment, and no options, I catch the late bus back to the old neighborhood.

Was I expecting anyone to welcome me back with open arms?

Hell no.

But I also wasn’t expecting Jasper Hayes.

The tattooed man-child with the unkempt hair and the bad attitude isn’t anyone’s idea of prince charming. Jasper’s the first to offer up a poison apple. He’s not the man who saves the princess—he’s the one that ruins her.

Maybe I don’t deserve a fairytale.

Wrecked is a standalone NEW ADULT bully romance. This book contains dark themes that could be difficult for some readers.

The Hero is an asshole who forces the heroine to take off her top in front of a bunch of people then taunts about sexually harassing her- all in chapter 1. Thanks, but nope.

I finished this so long ago I dont think I can write a comprehensive review. I've already forgotten some of the details, so I think that says more about this book than I could say in a review.

What I do remember is loving the beginning and the bully aspect. Hero was a true villain.

And I also remember hating the ending. How the heroine was the one to apologize was out of this world ANNOYING. No ma'am, she should not have been to the one to grovel at the end. Hero should have been all over that.

Safety as much as I can remember:
No cheating
Neither are virgins.
Slight OW drama in the form of a jealous ex
Sexual manipulation
Lots of push and pull and mind games.

Five years after escaping her hometown, Shay returns with her tail between her legs because she’s broke and needs a place to crash. The story is quite dark and angsty, but I had a hard time getting into her relationship with Jasper. They are far too push and pull, back and forth, hot and cold. I generally love that in an enemies-to-lovers romance, but when they’re back and forth within the same page, my brain gets whiplash. Also, some of the things that Jasper does are genuinely awful, and I would have liked to see more intense groveling from him before he was forgiven.
All in all, this is a fast, angsty read, and I do look forward to reading more by this author.

When I saw that this was a "Bully Romance" I was expecting one of those books where the girl gets bullied in High School and then comes back years later and falls for her former tormentor. This is not that book.

This h gets noticed by her BFF's much older brother who decides he must have her but has to wait. But he's such a dimwit, that he fails to notice that she is and later . When she disappears he looks everywhere for her and assumes she is dead. So he goes on to whore it up all over town with the local girls who are always willing. When the h shows back up 5 years later and is desperate, he then becomes her bully. (Cuz he luvs her sooooo much). It was all just a little too stupid and full of plot holes.

The bully H just demands that she do what he says when he says it. He also manipulates things so that everyone around her does what he wants. The h has great backbone and doesn't give in. But she is suffering and doesn't even have food or clothes. She's back with her abusive dad. Does our genius H notice this and step in to help? Not really. Most of this book is the H demanding and the h telling him hell no. She doesn't trust men with good reason She's had a really hard life and you wish she could catch a break. Then the H barges in and goes caveman creep. It was like one of those biker books with the Alpha Biker but even more extreme (and not in the good way).

That's not to say it wasn't a great read. It kept me glued to the pages and the final third where the H/h finally see eye to eye was romantic and sweet in its own messed up way. But I just can't reconcile the interesting parts with the nonsensical parts. If you like a story where the H treats the h unfairly, she stands up for herself but eventually gives in, then this is your book. It's just not what I was expecting or what appeals to me.

God this took me FOREVER to finish, and I don't even know WHY.

I should have been all over this book. The heroine, Shay (I actually had to go look her name up even though I only finished the book last night) has just returned to live with her abusive father in the rundown neighbourhood of Kings Court, after being kicked out by her latest toxic partner. There she reconnects with Jasper, her dead best friend's older brother, who thought she was dead. He's overjoyed to see she's alive. Cue lots of him obsessing over her, forced seduction in the 20th-century style, and a tiny touch of OW drama.

This sounds like a great plot but somehow it just wasn't enough. I found Shay very boring, even though she has a streak of pragmatism which should have been refreshing. Jasper was a flat character who frequently made me want to kick him. Their relationship turns around far too quickly and the epilogue is simply not believable. In fact, it reads like it was supposed to be attached to some other book.

By the end of Wrecked, I was in awe of how masterfully Cassie Kay wrote these characters. She took abuse, fear, attraction, obsession, nature vs nurture, and ultimately love and melded those into a plot that shows a complex world that on the surface may just seem like a vulgar and cruel environment.

I think the point is its not simply a brutal place. We are products of our upbringing and react accordingly. How does someone who never really knew love learn to trust? How does someone who loves so much they can't figure out how to show it in a non-menacing way actually prove its a positive? Its complicated but lovely when you see the progress.

I really loved the journey this book took.
Shay and Jasper are a work in progress and perfect for one another.

I love a good bully romance however for me I didn’t care for Jasper and didn’t see the connection between him and Shay besides the bullying.

Ultimate guide to unhealthy relationships

Another example of confusing the meaning of alpha male you know what instead.
Sp oil er con tent ahead!
The h, Shay, gets R worded by an older neighbor, her dad beats her so bad she has to get carted off in an ambulance at 16.
She spends the next 5 years in Chicago hook ing herself to random men for food and places to stay.
She returns home to her dear old daddy.
He’s still an abusive loser.
She runs into Jasper, who for whatever reason harasses her in front of others and scares her.
Shay proceeds to be snippy, mean and cold to Jasper through the whole book. When if she would have just calmed down and observed she could have seen he cared.
But then on the other hand when Shay would be cold to him, he would be too overbearing and physical with her. Like roughly holding her jaw, or pushing her up against a car.
Then she meets his dad and sees how he cares for his submissive wife, but still cuts off her sentences. And then it all makes sense to Shay why Jasper acts the way he does.
He’s loved her since they were kids.
He tattoos his name on her without her permission. She thinks he’s doing something else.
This H had potential to be good. But unfortunately the h had so many negative traits.
He’s a tattoo artist. She’s taken a few classes here and there. Which it’s never explained how she even finished HS.
Both are losers who have grown up in a slum apartment complex.
In the epilogue they move to middle class suburb.
I did not walk away happy or feeling the love from this book. Would not recommend.

*Spoiler Alert*
Well this is certainly an unconventional love story mainly because i wanted to hate one of the main characters Jasper but it didnt turn out that way. Jasper is brash, abrasive and has a huge chip on his shoulder. So when Shay (FMC) a childhood friend to his sister comes back to Kings Court, not by choice, with nowhere else to go and no money it brings up old feelings for both of them. Shay has just come out of an abusive relationship so shes looking for somewhere to get herself back on her feet but living back with her also abusive father is last thing she wants especially it puts her back in a place with bad memories for her. Just hoping to stay off anyones radar and get on with her life she doesnt count on Jasper. He bullies his way into her life and he wont take no for an answer on anything regarding her. Wow when these two clash its just fireworks and the banter between is great to read. Two people who are completely opposite that seem to just connect and slowly through the book they find love for each other. It was hard to read in parts but at the heart of the story is one of love. The two characters were hard not to like and by the end of the book you genuinely wanted them to get together and have a happy ending

DNF @ 35%.

This book is incredibly bleak. It had the most upsetting story and I couldn't continue it. The utter hopelessness of the h's situation was triggering for me. I read as an escape so depressing content is not good for me. Here are some of the awful things that turned me off:
- the 21 yr old h has no job and picks up guys so they will feed her and give her a place to stay.
- her past relationships involve physical abuse
- she returns home to stay with her father bc she is fleeing an abusive relationship. She has no $ and carries her things in a garbage bag.
- her father regularly abuses her and says very insulting things about how trashy she is.
- she has no $ for food and her father will sometimes give her his leftovers
- everyone in the town is poor and struggling for a job
- when she first arrives in the beginning of the book, the father doesn't let her stay with him so she sleeps in someone's car but has to leave by morning.
- she doesn't have access to a shower and only has a few pieces of clothing
- she has no friends
- she doesn't do anything when she is physically and verbally abused, just takes it.

Received ARC from Author for Honest Review
I Give this Book a 3.5/5 Star Rating, listing as 4.

HEA(?): Yes
Romance: 3.5-4ish/5
Heat: 3.5/5
Suspense: 3.5/5
Drama: 3.5/5

This was a good read, it took a while for me to really get into the story though. I got a bit confused trying to remember all the characters.
I did think that Shay was a bit dry, slow and very stubborn. It did take me a bit longer to like her cause she did feel a bit stagnant as a character, and I thought she was a bit repetitive.
Loved the Epilogue!

Even thought it was a bit rough of a read for me it was still enjoyable overall, I look forward to reading more from this Author, most definitely.

OMG!! I FLOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know what was going to happen with Shay and Jasper. Was Shay going to leave again? What's going to happen with Jasper? I'm telling you I was hooked and I needed to finish it.

Shay had a crappy upbringing that molded her to who she is today. Coming back home was never the plan, but plans change. Jasper Hayes never thought he would Shay again until he sees her trudging through the park one night. Through all the crazy and obsessions that Jasper had I liked him more and more.

This book had me crying, mad as hell, laughing and swooning and I can't wait for another book by Cassie now. This is a must read for me!!

What a roller coaster ride that Wrecked was. I have been on the bully romance for a bit now, like most people. Wrecked is one hell of a ride with twists and turns, and a touch of suspense. Lots of angst and full of possession.

Shay has been on her own for awhile. Coming back to her hometown and her abusive dad, is the last thing she wants to do. But she had to get away from one monster, to the monster she knows. Her first night back she runs into Jasper. Who is the bad boy of the town and her used to be best friends brother. Little does she know that he has always considered her his. He was just waiting for her to turn 18, but when she took off one night not to be seen for years, he thought she was dead. Now she is back, and he will not let her go again. He has caught her, whether she wants to be or not, and he is determined to maker her his.

Guys, seriously, so very good. Shay is a great character, she is tough, smart, strong and knows what she wants. Jasper is such the alpha possessive male and I loved him from the start. Overall, Wrecked is a great alpha bully read that is one I highly recommend.

4 Stars for Cassie Kay!
Shay Wilson is a hot mess looking to better herself while trying to get past all that deters her. Jasper Hayes is an alpha-male bad boy, the king of Kings Court, who’ll stop at nothing to protect the woman he loves.
Shay’s had a difficult life. To get away from an abusive relationship, Shay reluctantly returns home to Kings Court. She doesn’t think that she’ll be any safer there, but she forgot one detail…HIM.
Jasper’s feelings border on obsession. He’s searched for her but always came up empty. Now she stands before him, and he is willing to do anything to keep her with him.
Cassie Kay took alpha male, curse words, abuse, bullying without taking it too far, and steamy sex scenes and weaved them into an amazing bully romance.

Disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC.

This was my first book by Cassie Kay, so apart from the blurb I had no idea what to expect, in terms of writing style or characters. However, after finishing this book, I am so glad that I took a chance on this book and author as I look forward to reading her other stories!! This book has possessive alpha misunderstood bad boy written all over it!! Shay and Jasper were the perfect compliments for each other, each gave it back as good as they got! The angst was next level and the steamy scenes were amazing. If you enjoy enemies to lovers and possessive alpha males, then you don’t want to miss this book!!

This was the first book that I have read by Cassie Kay. I wasn’t sure what to except from her writing. WRECKED was a great read. It’s a darker romance with some triggers. I LOVED Jasper and and Shay’s story. As much as I hated all the things that happened to Shay I loved how her story came together and how Jasper loved her. I can’t wait to explore Cassie’s other books! I think I’ve found a new author to add to my bookshelf!

Just finished this book by Cassie and was very impressed! Gotta say, Jasper was my kind of intense. Loved the possessivness. Shay definitely pushed the right amount of buttons. I wish there was alittle more of a story there with Miles. Seems to be alot of hate between him and everyone but not any type of story so I am hoping to see a book with the other characters. I really enjoyed this book & spent my entire Saturday reading it.

This is my first but definitely not my last read by this author. Shay is fighting for survival and ends up back in her home town. Things don’t go as expected. I thought Shay was a likeable character and I liked her sassiness. At the start I didn’t like Jasper but he sure changed my mind. This is a well written raw and gritty read that I inhaled in one sitting. So so good.

Hooked

I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved this book. I don't care that Jasper may be a tad bit crazy and possessive. I think that made me love him even more. I like that Shay grows from the girl who has to do everything herself to realizing it's okay to get help.

This was a great book! I picked it up to complete a challenge, however it ended up not meeting the prompt. But it was so good, that I don't even mind. I loved these two, and would love to see more of them in another book about a different couple. Their story was complete, but to just see glimpses of them in the future would make my day.

There were darker themes, but I wouldn't say it was a dark book, at least not on my scale.

Wrecked absolutely wrecked me while reading it. Shay the main female character is forced to return to her hometown after an abusive relationship leaves her homeless. A place she swore never to return to because of the horrible things she had lived through growing up there. She finally gets the courage to knock on her father's door only to be turned away at the first try. She then trys to walk around to find a place to hide and sleep for the night
But that's when she comes across a group of kids sitting around outside and the leader of the group Jasper notices her right away and starts messing with her some. From there we see how Jasper really has other feelings for Shay and has had them for a long time. We learn they are no stranger to each other in fact we learn Jasper is Sahy's old best friends older brother and has always kind of looked out for her in the past but when she up and left all those years ago he was hurt and now that she's in front of him again he's determined to make sure she stays for good. What an emotional rollercoaster this book takes us on. The twisted things Jasper does to Shay and the confused thoughts she has towards him make this book a page turner and I personally couldn't put it down. I enjoyed it right to the end and I'm so happy they finally got there happily ever after. This book is definatly a 5 star read in my opinion and I can't wait to see what else Cassie Kay has in store for us. Awesome job!!!

Cassie Kay you literally have WRECKED me!!! This book is SO good that once I finished this book, I literally had to sleep on my thoughts before writing this review. Fair warning to fellow readers, YOU. WILL. NEED. TISSUES.

So Shay is a tough and independent chick who has made her way back to Kings Court. The one place she does not want to go back to. Shay has had a rough go at life in general and she is doing her best to better herself and get gone. In comes Jasper Hayes, what can say but YUMMY! This man is protective, bit obsessive, rough and smart. So when he sees Shay Wilson walking by the park, something inside him wakens. So let the games begin. Shay has been on her own and done things to survive, so when Jasper says she belongs to him, she fights him on everything. Which I totally don't blame her. I would do the same thing. I love Shay for who she is and my heart went out to her because of what she has been through. So of course she does not know how to accept things from Jasper. I totally see where Jasper comes from and I was literally hurting for him because he was doing everything he knew how to help her. They both have secrets and issues to work through.

This book was a everything to suspense, dark and heartbreaking. It was a whirlwind of emotions and I LOVED IT.

The title of this book is very fitting because Wrecked by Cassie Kay destroyed me. I was dismantled piece by piece and then slowly built back up into a new version of myself, a better version of myself. While this was emotionally hard for me to read I truly feel privileged for having experienced this story. For that is what Wrecked is, a rip your guts out emotional read that leaves you breathless in the most fabulous way. A full 360 degree experience, encompassing the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful.

The saying "fall down seven times, stand up eight" might as well be the main character's mantra. Shay's story was particularly difficult for me to read, which is a tribute to Kay's ability as a writer. The story is so vivid that I could clearly picture everything that was happening in her life and feel all the emotions that she was feeling. Jasper is one of those alpha-holes that you route for from the very beginning. I loved him at times and hated him other times. Having the story told from both characters POVs really helped me appreciate their issues and struggles.

This is one of the best bully romances I have ever read and definitely a top pick of 2019 for me!

Bully Romance

Shay has had a hard life. She's been bouncing from man to man to survive. I used to know girls like this a while back. Same with Jasper's character. Whilst reading, I imagined my old life in my old neighborhood and all the colourful characters that lived there. It made me a bit sad, if I'm honest. It wasn't an easy life for some and Shay's life is crap.

Homeless after escaping an abusive relationship, Shay returns to her childhood neighborhood with the hope her father will let her stay. She escaped his abuse years before as a teen, so coming home is scary. She runs into Jasper and his crew immediately and can't seem to shake him off. The dude is all up in her business preaching some ownership stuff. He's controlling, physically assertive, and just a jerk. He's absolutely obsessed and has been for years. I'm worried for the woman.

This book is just about them really and how Jasper's attempts at breaking Shay down sort of backfire. She wants to be independent and to take care of herself without a man and he wants her to be his. If you like bully romance with a heavy emphasis on the relationship, then this book is for you. Wasn't really my cup of tea though.

She dreamed off a better life, of not looking over her shoulder, of not cowering beneath anger. but life had a different idea and brought her back to where it all began.

He's familiar but her memory is fuzzy, who was the man that's stood before her in all his cruel and callous glory.

Is destiny guiding her along a path that she would never choose ..?

Oh what a fantastic introduction to Cassie Kay!

I could picture the scenes she placed before me so vividly and I was shocked by how real they all became.

This felt like more than words on a page, and I loved it, for exactly that reason.

Shay is rather unique, in the way she thinks and fights. I was drawn to her character from the very beginning. I like them broken what can I say *shrugs*

Jasper is the king, the man, the big I am about the town. There's alot more to him than meets the eye and my feelings changed as I discovered more.

Reasons for certain reactions and displayed behaviour between the two of them become clearer the more you read, as the overall picture is gradually revealed, and then my one question to you..

Will you love him as much as I did, or hate him for all that he was?

Unique love story

Jasper and Shay’s love may not be for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed his domineering, take-no-prisoners, over the top obsessive “you’re MY woman and I’m claiming you” ways.

There was one spot where I kinda had my doubts about something Jasper did, but I felt better about it by the end of the book. I’ll put it as a spoiler further down.

All in all, this is a roughly beautiful romance of Jasper staking his claim on Shay whether she wants him to or not. Again, this may not be for everyone as it touches on domestic abuse and rape (both mildly written but an important factor in why Shay is the way she is). Not all guys are Prince Charmings, but Jasper does his best in the only way he knows how.

My only negative is that Jasper didn’t seem like he was in his late twenties. More like late teens/early twenties. Minor, I know, but it bugged me.

Now, on to the spoiler.

Jeez I hated Shay! She was such a witch. Jasper was by no means perfect but compared to Shay, he was a freaking angel! She pushed him away and ran for like 99% of the book?!? Even in the epilogue when they were married, I still think she was a witch to him. The only reason the book even gets 2 stars is because of Jasper and his jail bird dad. I really like what his dad told Shay when Jasper finally got smart and left Shay.

“Romance isn’t about flowers and shit. It’s about the way my kid looks when you’re leaving a room—as if it physically hurts him to watch you go. That look isn’t so easy to find, so don’t take it for granted and walk away just because real life gets a little scary.” My heart is thudding in my chest so hard it hurts. Malcolm’s already left me with so much shit I’m turning over in my head, but on this one thing, I can’t help but disagree. “He looks at me like that because he thinks he owns me.” Malcolm shakes his head as he turns to leave for real this time. His parting words, “Nah. It’s because he knows you own him”

I don’t even know where to start with this one…….

Shay returns home after 5 years and has no where else to go. The first few minutes after getting home she is rejected by her abusive father and humiliated by who she finds out is her best friend from her child hoods brother. What has known nothing but abuse from every man in her previous and current life.

Jasper thought Shay was dead all these years. When he finds her walking outside one night after 5 years he sets out to make her his and in the process humiliates her.

Jasper is way OTT possessive, so if you love that in a Hero he will tick off most of your boxes. Even though I’m the beginning I was not feeling Jaspers behavior I really grew to love him quickly. Shay never really grew on me. She fought Jasper for to long in my opinion and she didn’t quite get the epiphany she needed until the very end. I would have like to see them have more of a relationship after all the push and pull before the ending.

Overall the writing and the story was engaging and I really enjoyed it.
