The Wallflower Brides #2

Married to the Lord

Rate this book
Waiting for one's fiancé to set a date is never fun. Especially when it has now officially been years. Particularly when one is a veritable wallflower with little chance of anything better coming along. More so when said fiancé's brother is paying particular attention to one's life and causing all sorts of confusing emotions.

All Miss Augusta Snow wants is for Henry to return home and set the date. If that means trying as hard as she can to break out of her quiet temperament to gain his attention, then she'll do her best.

But it seems she's attracted the wrong brother's attention...

The brooding Miles Stanton, Viscount Ashwick has always been quietly fascinating to her. She knows he was a little less than a gentleman in his past but she cannot help be intrigued now that he is showing interest in her wellbeing.

He only intended to protect his brother's interests...

Miles always had a soft spot for Gus. However, everyone knew she was meant for his brother and all he wants is for her to be happy--especially with the specters of his past hanging over him and guaranteeing to bring trouble. He has to protect Augusta from doing something silly and somehow persuade Henry to cease being a fool and return home.

All the while ignoring his feelings for her...

Augusta's plans to show Henry that she is not just some dull wallflower seemed doomed to fail and now Miles is back in her life and behaving...well...strangely. She cannot help but wonder if she has been hanging her hopes on the wrong brother this whole time.

A charming read I loved Miles & Gus, they were so right for each other. I thoroughly disliked Henry who didn’t deserve that Gus had waited for him. I loved how Gus gained in confidence throughout the book & finally went after what she wanted. The path to the HEA isn’t smoothbut it does make for an entertaining read.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This was an entertaining read. Augusta has supportive friends in Chloe and Joanna and they were determined to help her change her ways in order to encourage her fiancé, Henry to come home and set the date for their wedding. This brings her to the attention of Miles, Henry’s brother, who has always like Augusta. What will happen when Henry comes home? Will Augusta find the courage to do what she wants? There is also another man who wishes to know Augusta better and doesn’t like to be thwarted. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book!

At first, I was a little impatient with Augusta (Gus) because she did not have much of a backbone and seemed to be too easily cowed by convention and duty. But then I remembered that during that time period young women were not expected to think for themselves and in fact, their first and foremost obligation was to their families and to fulfill their duty to that family.

Miles was a true gentleman of that era, honoring the engagement of his brother Henry to Gus (even though Henry had been adventuring for a number of years with no return date in sight). Even his realization that he wanted to marry Augusta himself was not enough to make Miles betray the code of a gentleman. It was not an easy thing to break an engagement back then!

A necessary backbone is found, a somewhat predictable twist is revealed, the prerequisite villain is thwarted and love prevails!! Happy ever afters abound and all is once again right with Regency England. At least that corner of it anyway!

I always look forward to reading any book written by Samantha Holt because when I have finished it I have a feeling of happiness I carry around with me for the rest of the day!!

"What was a girl to do? Once one was engaged, they were at the mercy of the man to whome they were engaged. She could not break it off-her parents would be heartbroken and no doubt gossip would circulate to why."
Would Henry ever come back to claim her and marry? Augusta was bored, frustrated and even a little embarrassed that Henry had been gone for so long. Her friends were getting married and she was could only wonder when it would be her. When her friend Joanna suggested she should show her fiance' what he was missing, a plan formed.
But then who would show up but Miles, Henry's brother and he was determined to seek her out.
I loved, loved this story and as always Samantha Holt took me on a jouney of the heart to find that love can be found and maybe not with the original expectation!

I feel like you can't really got wrong with a Samantha Holt book. And I was happy I requested this one. We have Gus who was engaged byt her fiance takes off and she has to wait for him to come get her or get married, she couldn't break things off because the ton would have crucified her. When she decides she is going to show him that she is not boring she gets the attention of his brother Miles and lets say he was way better than her fiance Henry.. What to do what to do..Well read and find out, I was rooting for Miles and Gus from the beginning. enjoy!

Two brothers, one girl

Miles, Henry, and Augusta have been friends since childhood. When the boys father dies, Miles is faced with all the challenges of taking over the title and responsibilities while Henry, deep in grief turns to his other best friend, Augusta, and asks for her hand in marriage. They've know each other practically all their lives, their parents being friends and living nearby, so they know they get along well and enjoy each other's company. They're the perfect match.
A wonderful story of love, faithfulness, and doing what's right. Enjoy!

Enjoyed the story, it is well written and entertaining. The story revolves around Augusta (Gus) and the fact she has waited over two years for Henry to return from his grand tour to set a wedding date. Unexpected love happens and surprises await. There is a degree of danger surrounding the characters but all works out for the best. There is a HEA for all involved. This is a clean romance and I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

Augusta has been waiting for her fiancé Harry to come home for two years. Tired of waiting she has decided to make Harry jealous and come home. When Harry’s older brother starts spending time with her to make sure she doesn’t end the engagement, sparks fly between them. Miles doesn’t fee he deserves her. Will her engagement survive? Fast-paced historical read with lots of drama and suspense. I liked the characters and the story held my interest throughout. A good read.

DNF. The book I had included all three stories of the Wallflower Bride Series, so I skimmed all three. It's pretty cookie cutter stuff.

I sure did enjoy this story more than the first and I'm excited for the next book.
Things I liked:
We get to see glimpses of Miles' past.
That the "conflict" didn't last long.
That we got a small sexy scene.
Spoiler!

That Augusta is honest with Henry later on as he is with her when she breaks the engagement.

Things I didn't like:
That the heroine and hero kept bringing up Henry and making excuses for him.
They kept having the same thoughts over and over again about the kiss. And whether the other felt the same? And how he was crazy for her. Like we get it.

Some confusing things:
I can't say as to when he started falling in love with Augusta? Like when he saved her in their teens? or later?

Augusta was proposed to 2 seasons ago, by a man who up and left to travel for the next two years. She getting tired of waiting. In comes Miles, Henry's brother who might have some feelings for Gus.

This book was really sweet, I was really happy that there wasn't any kidnapping story in it, though. I love how clear it is that they both love each other, and yet none of them will take a step forward.

Gus was the type of heroine I love, with her shyness and gentleness but the will to be more confident, even though this will stemmed from the wrong reasons. I really loved Brook too, he was strong, with a dark past.

Love love love

A great read

I enjoyed reading about Miles and Augusta and they finally admitted their love for one another. She was engaged to Henry who was Miles younger brother but he fled after his father passed away and it was years before he came back home. When he did finally come home she was realizing that she didn't love Henry and she didn't want to marry him anymore so she told him she wanted to break it off. It was a good HEA. I highly recommend this book! ❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍

Delightful 💞

After reading book one, I knew Augusta would have an interesting story. Augusta was such a shy, sweet girl who deserved more than an absent fiance. It's a good thing Miles was able to step in and take the place of his brother. Characters are all delightful. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
This book has a few hot kisses, but no sex.

Again, a charming and pleasant read with a dissatisfying ending. It is so abrupt and and jarring. Maybe having one loose end that is tied up after the couple gets together might feel more balanced.

Book #2 of the series didn't disappoint. Although, a few times caused me to grow tense when events became dangerous and awkward for the characters. I was well pleased with the happy ending that switched from Henry to his brother Miles to wed Augusta instead.

! was disappointed with the writing. It seem the author had done a lot of research on the time period plus couldn't imagine them strolling down country roads.
