This is a Brenda Jackson classic at it's best, it has all the great elements of a good story - passion, romance, suspense, drama, family issues and great secondary characters. Lee Madaris is the epitome on a gentleman. He has the ability to spark fire to the flame just by entering into your presence. He was such an intriguing man in this story. He wrote the book on "courting" - WOW - he has the power to make you loose your mind with all the wonderful and special things he does to let you know that you are his only desire. He chose Carly and he let her know that she was the passionate woman that he desires for now and forever. Yes, it was lust at first site with these two but it was the passion they felt for one another that kept them intriguing through out the story.
Carly wanted someone to love her but was willing to except passion in its place - at least that's what she thought. Being with Lee Madaris as a playmate will definitely make you get passion and love confused. While these two characters try to figure out one another and see if passion is enough, they discover that they really like each and don't mind figuring the rest out as it comes. Since this is a Madaris story you know it's not as simple as boy meets girl and fall in love - oh no, it had suspense that could only be solved by the Madaris' and therir frieinds - and it didn't disappoint either.
If you know anything about a Brenda Jackson Madaris story you know it's going to have drama with twist and turns that involve handsome men coming to the rescue. It was no different in this one. I love the way Mrs. Jackson brought back all of the family members with various updates in their lives. A Madaris story wouldn't be the same without Mama LaVerne and her match making schemes - well watch out - she's back.
I really enjoyed this story!!!!! This is Mrs. Jackson 100th book and she still has it to make you fall in love with her characters and her writing style. I am really looking forward to reading more of them. Very Entertaining Story!!
Sometimes you see a person and there is an instant attraction. An attraction that can not be described in words but that takes over your whole body. That is the type of attraction that Lee Madaris & Carly have. And once they shared an unexpected kiss, Lee knew he would never forget this woman. A second meeting is a sign that this is the woman for him. Couple that with his desire to outsmart the family matriarch and you will be in for a great ride.
Lee decides to use their attration to solve his problem of being setup for marriage. Claiming to Carly that this arrangement is not a love match but a strong pull of attraction. Carly fights the desire due to their working relationship as long as she can. But we all know that when a handsome Madaris Man comes calling not many women hang up the phone. She soon gives in and sets off on an adventure of fun, sex & danger.
In her 100th book, Brenda Jackson proves that she still knows a good love story. She weaves in the family history so that you feel like you are visiting old friends. We even got to revisit some of our favorite family & friends. Love, adventure, danger, family and friends is a recipe that keeps the fire burning. I guarantee you that you will read this book at least twice to make sure you did not miss any of the great interactions.
I think that Mrs. Brenda Jackson have done It this time, I loved this book. Lee Madaris and Clay Briggs story Is one of the best of Mrs. Jackson books I will be reading this book over and over again. When Lee first saw Clay he knew she was the one, he wanted to get ahead of his great-grandmother Mama Laverne, because she was fixing up all of her great-grandchildren so Lee decided that he was going to pick his own bride. Carly was reluctant to start a relationship with Lee because she had been hurt before. This story have some of every thing In It there Is murder, romance, jealousy and kidnapping. Mrs. Jackson bring back Trevor Grant,Alex Maxwell, Colonel Ashton Sinclair, Sir Drake, and Tori Warren When Carly Is kidnapped by the mob. Carly had to flee Miami when she witness the murder of an undercover agent.A Madaris Bride for Christmas
Hooked from the first page and hated to see it end!!!
Hard to believe we are in the 4th generation of the Madaris family. Ms. Jackson's skills as a "must read" author have only gotten better and better!
The Madaris men treat their women like the Queens they are and who can get mad at that? In addition, they are more than ready to protect them with their lives. When the woman who gave birth to Carly, (she does not deserve the title, mother), burst into Carly's house and allowed her bully of a husband to speak to Carly as if she was dirt underneath his shoe, Lee was close to committing murder! Thrasher rejected Carly down to her soul, and she did not deserve that.
The kidnapping and FBI part of the story was super interesting and kept me reading! Awesome story!!!!!
This has turned out to be one of my favorite Madaris series books, coming in behind the Midnight Hour. Brenda Jackson continues to amaze me with her excellent writing style. All I can say is Mama Laverne strikes again. Lee thought he was putting one over on the Madaris matriarch and bless his heart for that. This story between Lee and Carly is wonderful. Lee most definitely lives up to the Madaris name with his fierce protectiveness, overwhelming passion and unconditional love for his woman. It was great that she tied in other Madaris and Madaris friends’ books as well as a Westmoreland book into this one. You get a look into how some of those characters are going about their lives. This is definitely a 5 star read and I look forward to reading more in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!
This was the first Madaris book that I read, but it won't be the last. I've been hooked on Ms. Jackson's Westmoreland series for a long time and this was even better because it was longer and more involved. It also included some of the Westmorelands in the story, which was really great. Lee is the owner of two big hotels, one in Dubai and one in Vegas, with plans for a third in Paris. He has been very busy so he hasn't made time for any women in his life. His great-grandmother has been very busy in the last few years working to get all her great-grands married off, and Lee is up next on her hit list. When he hears that she has someone lined up for him to meet over Christmas he's determined to thwart her plans. He comes up with the idea to marry for convenience and show up with his own bride.
Carly moved to Las Vegas from Miami for a better job and to get away from the place where she heard a murder take place. She loves her job as a pastry chef, and if she's a little lonely at times she feels it is best for her. She's been let down by relationships enough that she's no longer interested in putting herself out there. Her mother has ignored her all her life, feeling that Carly was a mistake that she needs to get away from. Her mother's husband has threatened her to keep her from "contaminating" his family. And the man she thought she loved cheated on her and accused her of being passionless. When her birthday comes around she treats herself to a night at the hotel and dinner out. While dancing alone on one of the terraces she is joined by Lee who dances with her (a scene right out of Disney's Sleeping Beauty). They exchange first names, a smoking hot kiss, and part never expecting to see each other again.
Fast forward a few days, days when neither has been able to forget the other. Imagine their surprise when they come face to face in one of the dining rooms, where Lee's guests have asked to meet the pastry chef who made the dessert they just devoured. Now that he's seen her again, Lee desperately wants to get to know her better and take that kiss to its logical conclusion. He doesn't understand why he's so obsessed over her, but he wants to pursue it. Then he comes up with the idea of asking her to marry him, in a marriage based on respect, friendship and passion, rather than love which he doesn't want. Carly has been just as obsessed with him, but she doesn't see anything coming of it. She is an employee of his hotel, and far below him socially. She also considers herself a loner because she avoids relationships. The treatment she's received from others has done a number on her self esteem and she can't believe that Lee would be interested in her for more than a very short term affair.
I loved seeing Lee so determined to win Carly to his point of view. Except for one bad decision at the very beginning, he treated her like a princess. I loved seeing all the things he did for her to make her feel special. There was a really terrific part where Lee stood up to her stepfather in a really wonderful way, something no one had ever done for her before. I also enjoyed seeing him fight the idea that what he felt was love, even as he admitted that what he felt was unlike anything he'd felt before. Carly didn't know what to make of Lee and what he was doing to her. She had never been made to feel so beautiful and so wanted by anyone. She, too, was resistant to the idea of love as it had never done anything for her before. She was tempted by Lee's proposition, but worried that eventually the passion would die and she'd be rejected again. Each thing he did broke through a little bit more of her walls, until she was head over heels for him. I loved seeing them both realize that what they had together was more than just passion. When they showed up for the family Christmas, Lee was all cocky abut having outwitted his great-grandmother - for about five minutes. Loved that scene!
There's a bit of suspense in the story, as the FBI comes to Lee and his partner, asking for their help in taking down a mob intent on using Lee's casino for their own purposes. Things get really intense when Carly realizes that one of those mobsters is the man she overheard back in Miami. She's in grave danger at one point, and her rescue was pulled off by some of the characters from previous books. There were a couple funny spots that helped relieve some of the tension.
Title: A Madaris Bride For Christmas Author: Brenda Jackson Published: Harlequin Kimani Arabesque Series: Madaris Family & Friends #19 Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Genre: Holiday, Romance Age Recommended: Adult Rating: 5 Review:
"A Madaris Bride For Christmas" by Brenda Jackson was another one of this authors wonderful amazing reads. This story was one of 'family, love, drama, romance and a suspenseful' all wrapped up into one. Did Lee think that he could pick his bride without any help from Mama Laverne...well, ha ha for that thought. Mama Laverne who was quite the matchmaker in this Madaris family. She has been fixing up her great grandchildren so why would Lee even think he could do this all by himself, but the children that were yet single thought the could find their own loves without Mama Laverne's help. Lee thought he had it done just that... all by himself ...picking his own bride...Carly with there being a instant attraction from their first meeting...the kiss! By the time they met the second time Lee knew this was the woman for him. Would he be able to use this attraction for Carly to solve his problem with his great grandmother? Now, this will not be a smooth ride for Lee and Carly and you will see by putting up this well written novel and seeing for yourself. Once you start it will be hard to put down until the end. I found all the characters all so well developed and colorful giving the reader a awesome read. I love how this author was able to bring in 'visiting old friends and family' into the read. Be ready for lots of love, family drama, danger along with the adventure of it all in this good read. "A Madaris Bride for Christmas" is one sweet fun sweet read for the holiday Christmas season...however, it's a good read anytime. So, if you are looking for a good read with lots of twist and turns along with some suspense then you have come to the right place. Would I recommend "A Madaris Bride for Christmas?" Yes, Yes, Yes!
A Madaris Bride for Christmas by Brenda Jackson is an intriguing read from the onset. It captures ones attention and has you wondering what's next. Great Grandma Laverne has been "match making" with her grandchildren and now great grandchildren. At around 95 years of age, she is determined to see a wedding for each of them and she's getting it done. Well some of her lineage, won't accept that and are determined to best her by picking and marrying their choice. Well Lee Madaris is one of them and he sets out to do just that after a woman he sees from his balcony catches his eye and full attention. Lee is the co-owner of an illustrious hotel in Las Vegas, which is the second one for him and his partner. His goal is to have the grandest hotel on the strip and he is doing just that.
Carly Briggs jumps at a chance to work as a Chef at one of the grandest hotels on the Las Vegas strip, especially after believing she witnessed a crime in Miami. For a treat to herself, she books a room at the hotel for one night and Lee happens to see her from a distance, then up close and personal. Later, he gets an idea and sets out to put it in motion if his hotel's gorgeous new chef will agree to a marriage of convenience. Will she agree....hmmmm? All this is further complicated when per Brenda Jackson ”the danger that made Carly flee Miami is about to land at their door. So Carly and Lee must decide who to trust, when to let go—and whether a love they never anticipated is strong enough to pass the ultimate test."
Mrs. Jackson penned a tale that allows us to witness the blooming of a potential romance and has us captivated with the suspense and thrill as titillating details unfold. This novel was a great 5 stars read that I thoroughly enjoyed. CONGRATULATIONS BRENDA JACKSON ON YOUR 100th Novel!!
I love stories that have an intermingling of romance, suspense and intrigue. It brings something magical and inviting to the storyline. A Madaris Bride For Christmas by the exceptional Brenda Jackson was a wonderful addition to the Madaris Family Series.
Lee Madaris and Carly Briggs' love was displayed and felt throughout the book. As always Mama Laverne was on the money when it came to picking a bride for her great grandsons. She was truly a delight.
Thank you Mrs. Brenda Jackson for sharing your awesome talent with your many readers. Your 100th book was truly worth waiting for. A highly recommended purchase.
"All of the Madaris stories are great but this was by the best Madaris story yet!! Keep Writing Mrs. Jackson and congratulations!!!!" from a review written by an Harlequin.com member, to read more reviews, go HERE.
"Once a Madaris man makes up his mind, the lucky lady should just pick out her wedding gown. This entry also comes with a bit of intrigue, and the disparate storylines are woven together successfully. Although Lee Madaris is convinced he's in control of his destiny, he should know better." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars
I love it. I just read it straight through. It was a all nighter read for me. Lee Madaris and Carly Briggs is another combustible couple. Super Sexy love scenes. The story took me through many emotions. Sometimes I laughed and then there was Times I wanted to cry. Awesome job to Brenda Jackson. A very worthy 100th book. Can't wait to see what happens next in the Madaris Family. Let's just say I love me some Mama Laverne.
100 never looked better, Brenda Jackson did not disappoint with her 100th novel. Lee Madaris display passion to the utmost. Carly is running scared from love, when Lee tries to outsmart his grandmother, he never thought he would find love. Brenda combines the right amount of love, drama and suspense in this one. It was great to be reacquainted with other family members and friends.
Absolutely loved Carly and Lee's story. Momma Laverne had me laughing and I could just imagine Lee's face (Priceless) when she met Carly. I got a chance to catch up with fantastic 4. Loved hearing from Ashton, Uncle Jake and the others.
What a way to celebrate. With every book, I have to go back and read at least three from the backlist. Revisiting with the Madaris men is always a good read.

A Madaris bride for Christmas is the 100th romance from the author. To mark the occasion, Brenda Jackson wanted to write about one of the members of the family with which her career began. This volume is the 19th of the series and sincerely, I won’t list all the other titles. LOL You should only know that two of my favourite novels by the author are part of that series: One special moment and Unfinished business. Unfortunately, not one of the volumes is translated in French.
This story is also a Christmas romance with all the features necessary to the theme: family, friendship, a gentle story without much hassle and with very likable characters.
I really liked this story. Because Lee Madaris and Carly Briggs are very endearing characters, who know what they want and act consequently. Because the other secondary characters are part of the Madaris family, they have an important role in the novel and most of all, they show the entire family is close whatever happens in others’ lives. Because Brenda Jackson introduces other secondary characters we’ve seen in other series, and very naturally. The reader can see she wants to create a bond between all her long series but how she brings this bond is so believable the reader doesn’t feel frustrated.
So yes, we have a good listing of characters, but the author succeeds in avoiding the fatal trap: give elements about these characters’ own story to the point we forget our heroes, which is never the case. Brenda Jackson just makes the new readers want to discover her universe and her fans see again, even briefly, characters we like elsewhere.
The sex scenes between our heroes are quite numerous and of very good quality. We believe in their love at first sight and we can’t wait to see them get together for ever. Brenda Jackson includes also a bad guy in her story as well as a twist which will surprise every reader, even the fans LOL.
You’ll have understood I really liked this romance which is an ode to friendship, to love, in short everything that makes the spirit of Christmas and constitutes Brenda Jackson’s universe. A must read.
This is a fun read for the Christmas season. It's wonderfully romantic as well as full of suspense. The magnetism between Lee and Carly took my breath away. Their love travels from Vegas to Dubai. I especially liked the idea of Lee's grandmother Laverne. She is the matchmaker in the large Madaris family. However, the grands and great grands want to find their own loves. So Lee ducks away to find the perfect woman on his own without any help from his great grandmother.
I enjoyed reading about Carly's career. She traveled to Paris to learn Culinary Arts. It is a surprise for whom she finds herself working. It is also surprising to find Lee cooking more meals for her than she cooks for him. He not only knows how to kiss Lee also knows how to whip up a delicious, attractive dish for dinner.
Really interesting is the reason why Carly is afraid to enter a love relationship. Finding out the reason why she is avoiding Cupid's bow and arrow is painful and an eye opener into how much our family can have to do with our love choices. I look forward to reading more novels about this big family. It's a family full of love. Always there to help one another in a time of trouble. Believe me there is enough trouble in this novel to cover the top of a mountain. I stayed glued to my seat. So it is with sadness I leave this novel and look for my next holiday escape.I think next time Nolan's love story is going to be told. brendajackson
Brenda Jackson does it again. This book was definitely worth 5 stars and I promise that the 100th book will not disappoint you. I love this time of year because it's all about love and it never fails reading a Brenda Jackson book always renew my faith in love and have me excited. Lee Madaris whew he almost made me love him more than Clayton lol. Lee thought that he would choose his own bride but turns out that him and Mama Laverne had the same thought you could say it was just fate. Lee believes that passion is what will keep Carly and hisself together never thinking love. From the beginning his wanting to give her everything she desire, wanting her to be apart of his family since she didn't have one, wanting her to be apart of his world and that Madaris need to protect those they claim all made us believe that what Lee thought was passion was definitely love. I agree a marriage should have passion and love something about the passion Lee had for Carly and her for him that just made you smile and think of long nights cuddle by the fire place. I'm a hopeless romantic and Mrs. BJ definitely have me my fall fix. Don't miss out on meeting the next Madaris bride this book is everything I don't want to give to much away but just know if you don't read it your missing out so read it read it read it you will not be disappointed
This was her 100th book and the first I read. I can say with certainty that it wont be the last.
I love a "good romance" and A Madaris Bride for Christmas had all the necessary components of a good romance.
I had a bit of a hard time sorting out all the Madaris characters and I'm sure I will learn more about most of them by reading more of the books.
Lee Madaris is a typical male romance lead. He's not looking for love but is open to passion. He finds it in a chance encounter with Carly Briggs. Carly is our once-bitten-twice-shy female lead. Like Lee she doesn't want love but finds herself drawn to Lee. Add to this a bit of mystery and suspense and it was a page turner that had me running through every emotion.
Without creating spoilers, I can't really describe the plot anymore than you can find from reading the back cover. I will say that the anticipation I felt in the scene leading up to Carly going into the dining room where Lee was having his meeting, neither expecting the other had me totally dancing on the edge of my seat in excitement.
I received a copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway. I in no way affected my review, which is all mine!
Those hot, sexy, smart, gorgeous, loyal and rich Madaris Men (Lord Have Mercy) I just love reading about them so much.
Lee Madaris saw Carly and immediately was captivated by her. But what he thought was just lust was actually love at first site (men can be quite slow in recognizing that).
This amazing story had all of the right elements to make it amazing. It was wonderful seeing some of the family and friends from previous stories.
Lee Madaris is a man that protects his own and Carly who knew a lot about pain but not enough about love, got that and then some from Lee. Once a Madaris man pledges his love to you it is forever.
As always author Brenda Jackson brings you a story that gets knocked completely out of the park. Mama Laverne has already set her plans in motion and Nolan Madaris is up next Woot! Woot!
Snap, crackle, pop, sizzle, fire, BOOM! This book had everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING (blushing)! Ms. Jackson has gone off the map here. Her writing flows smoothly, her transitions were clear. The element of surprise, the camaraderie of characters and all of the other components together make this book well worth the read. The vulnerability of Carly, the 21st century damsel in distress is enlightening and refreshing because even in her being vulnerable, she had power...I like that. This book had communication, miscommunication, implied communication, assumptions and all the mishaps that go along with relationships...whew!
Just like in all the other great Madaris stories has all the love and mystery of how Great Grandmother Felicia Laverne Madaris always finds just the right person for each member of her family to marry will continue to be so. Just as before Brenda Jackson has done it again so get ready for her next Madaris novel to see who will be for Nolan Madaris. I can't wait and neither will you. I truly recommend all of the Brenda Jackson Madaris series books enjoy the read.
Cheese cheese and more cheese,This is wonderful if not a far fetched love story. No spoilers here, I listened to the audio version, The narrators voice alone got me all hot under the collar. Velvety smooth comes to mind. A heart warming book for even the hardest of hearts, if a bit cheesy. Well I’m a big romantic and I loved the whole telling of this story right to the very fairy tale ending .. ahhhhh x
Loved this book ,looking forward to starting this series in the beginning. Not sure how many books are in it yet, but if I could go back and start at the beginning of the J.D.Robb in Death series, then this one should be no problem. The way this was written was a wonderful love story. This was a hard one to put down.
This book was as I had expected it would be Brenda Jackson has a way of writing books that keep you onh reading it
just finished reading this one it was excellent as always Brenda Jackson is a very good writer I have been reading her books through the years.Love the Madaris sagas

I’ve finally figured out what Brenda Jackson’s Madaris family books do for me. I find myself craving a continuation of specific couples’ stories and since I’m unable to read those specific stories I get sucked into purchasing another family member’s love story. The thing I dislike is the repetition of the family history. The Madaris family is huge so to constantly read their family history in each book can be a bit off putting. Every book has a mention of Felicia Laverne Madaris and her 7 sons including the one who died in Vietnam. Every book mentions the Uncle Jake is the youngest son married to Diamond Swain and owner of the massive ranch. I appreciate the familiarity but the books also tend to be extremely predictable in most cases and lack variety. You can always look forward to a wedding (in June for most books) towards the end. Every woman protagonist always ends up being a damsel in distress requiring some sort of saving midway through the books. The male character is almost always in opposition to falling in love. I’m about 6 or so books into the Madaris family books and find myself bored. This was I suppose one of the more exciting reads but I feel a bit underwhelmed when I think of all the books as a collective.

12-26-19 Not the narrator for this story
Carly and Lee hit it off right away. Out celebrating her birthday she meets the man that would soon become every thing to her and her to him. Moving to make sure he could prove he was in control of his own world Lee finds that sometime it about more.
There was some passion, chemistry, threats and danger. We even get to see some old Madaris family favorites. This years holiday celebration had more to celebrate.
Narrator Pete just did not do the job for me. The whole time I was want it to be over with. I love BJ’s books but this narrator took something from it. So I just was not as excited as I might have been. Always love getting a new romance with a little mystery, suspense and even some danger when reading a romance in the Madaris family and friends.
