The Irish Don’s Black Beauty: Part One

Rate this book
It was love at first sight...well for Kahlani Edwards it was. The object of her affection...not so much. She loved his quiet, subdued and nerdy persona. She dreamed of playing in his fiery red hair, and she wanted nothing more than for him to love her back.
Little did she know that underneath the quiet and mysterious exterior of Connor O’Shea was a death dealing crime boss and heir to an Irish mob.

It was meant to be nothing more than a pity date. That’s all. How did it turn into complete obsession? How did this girl who was neither his type nor in his league bring him to his knees? Love? Never wanted it. Peace? Overrated! Anything that brought emotional attachment was not apart of his agenda, so why would he be willing to change course for anyone.... let alone her.

Hey y’all! I’m just a regular girl born and breed in Houston, Texas who likes to write. I’ve been creating stories in my head since I was a kid and always felt I had a talent for reading comprehension. Armed with my love for stories and great reading skills i started to write. I started out writing simple fantasy books as those were my favorite genre of books then. Though I quickly found that I preferred a really good romance between the hero and heroine in the books I read. I noticed that if they didn’t have a good romantic chemistry between the two I didn’t read it. Years later after reading more books in the genre of romance. I find myself here today making this author page. I’m humbled that so many of you have read my work. I appreciate it beyond measure and hope to continue to provide what you guys are looking for.

Reread: August 28, 2019-- Have you ever read a book that wasn't a 4 or 5 star read but the story had so much potential to be one if certain deterrents didn't take away from it. Well, "The Irish Don's Black Beauty" was one for me. I'm still wondering about Kahlani's kidnapping, Sean's assistance and exactly what did Margo do to her after everything hit the fan! Sure Margo was hurt by Conner's deception after she found that she was not the Donna and Kahlani was but did she really kill her and set up Conner's father before her death as well as Patric's? Kahlani's body was ever found so anything is possible! So yes, I do want to read book two just to find out if she really died or was she just sent away? Time will tell!

_______________________________________
An okay (good) story but I would have really enjoyed the tale more if the dialect or should I say the Irish accent of the hero, Conner O'Shea wasn't such a major problem for me. It really took away from the flow of the story along with the grammatical errors.... I loved heroine's Kahlani's positivity as his 'black beauty' tho' and her bff, Crissy was a hoot until they only talked over the phone... and that's another story!

Conner was no one to play with... he was the heir apparent to the O'Shea clan (mafia) and it was time to take his ruthless father out!

Examples of my problem with the dialect/Irish accent that I had with "The Irish Don's Black Beauty Part One":

"Nah, I'd marry Margo befer I chose her. That sweet little Seaclaid (chocolate) wouldna know the first thing about riding a cock and ferget being a Donna."

"Dinna compare me tu that bastard! We're nothing alike fer one I'd never force me son tu do half the shite me he made me du."

"Margo didna pretend like I dinna know wat kind of busy yer talking about. I know how yer fecked up mind works, remember? Now stop playing games and get me an update on his plans."

After that cliffhanger, I'm still interested in reading Part 2 of "The Irish Don's Black Beauty" after discovering that the heroine's father was also a part of the underworld...

This ended up being a rather dark story... Conner O'Shea is as crazy all they come when his Black Beauty is kidnapped by his father, Patric O'Shea! Bad move for all!

What did I miss

So, there are so many great reviews, I decided to give this a try. I'm trying to see what everyone else read and what I read. Did I miss something? First, Conner and Kahlani are both still in high school.....High. School. The very synopsis of the book make that truly unbelievable. Conner is a Don in the making that is clashing with the current Don, his dad, who by all accounts is reckless. So, we have a high schooler all of 18, with so much power, at war with his father? Yeah....if you say so. And Kahlani.....bless her lil cotton socks, dumb as a box of rocks because again, she's a high schooler🤦🏽‍♀️. The story just goes off the rails from there. Conner being Irish with the Irish (I guess) dialect made it difficult to read. This was a mess....a hot mess

I don’t wanna be mean and I feel bad for writing this review, but it had to be said. Spoilers btw

This book has broken the record for the worst book ever. And I haven’t even finished it. Reading this honestly felt like a social experiment.
The amount of spelling mistakes and nausea I experienced, made me think this was a bad Wattpad book.
Disgusted doesn’t even begin to describe my feelings. But let’s begin

Let me start by saying that the male lead is 17 or 18 years old, yet he’s supposed to be this dangerous gangster. But whatever we can get over that.

The female lead Kahlani made me feel so much second hand embarrassment that it became first hand. Her obsession was on another level and I desperately wanted that girls mouth sewed shut and her phone taken away.

The whole “she’s inlove but she’s not his type” would be fine if he wasn’t racist.
Exhibit A: “I highly doubt I’d ever marry a black girl. Tu much drama and tu ghetto. The most we’re going tu du is eat and possibly have sex.”
That is from the male leads PoV.

But that’s not even the worst part of the book.

Kahlani in the book is described as a beautiful and popular girl, but she is a MINOR. So I have no idea why there was a need to have a grown cop masturbate to her in HER house. That entire scene was so flipping sickening i wanted to throw up. The over-sexualisation of the leads was stomach churning.
The male leads own father said following to a girl regarding his son: “Yu suck his dick huh? I smell it on yu bitch. Did yu like it? Did his cum taste good? Open that fecking whore mouth. Let me taste it.”

WHAT IS THE NEED FOR THAT? How does that further the plot or help the book?

So many useless and revolting things were needlessly added in the book.
Exhibit C: “Chrissy and I have known each other since early middle school. So I knew exactly when her relationship with her adoptive brother Tristian started”

Sorry but I didn’t realise I was watching The Fosters, and why did we need to know that Kahlanis friend Christy and her brother are dating their adoptive brother and sister. This is what I mean when I say this book felt like a social experiment.

Lastly I wanna add that the male lead was getting a blowjob from his other girlfriend. Yes you read that right. He is cheating on the female lead with his OTHER girlfriend who is simultaneously screwing his father.

The book is a mess and completing it feels like finishing a prison sentence and I enjoy my life too much to do that.

Is zero stars an option? Sorry that was rude.

WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE AS TO HOW THIS BOOK MADE ME FEEL!

CONNER & KAHLANI are made for each other, its not puppy love but genuine love and passion. This book was wonderfully written. It was a great decision to start and allow us readers to see beginning of blossoming albeit a little deceitful teenage love affair. I felt every emotion these two had, from Kahlani’s feeling of seeing her crush, the nervousness of going to speak to him, and even her anxiety of the first date. With Conner’s feeling of lust for her, his joy of how she made him feel, his falling in love and of course his Heartache and pain. I loved their chemistry, their passion and there were time I forgot he was 18 years old.

The storyline flowed and kept me utterly interested, I really didn’t want it to end. I TRULY TRULY LOVED THIS BOOK.

This is my first book I’ve read by this author and I can say ROSE MARIE is doing THE DAMN THING!! I purchased the paperback because I love to own the book. I am so happy to have purchased and have it in my collection I will be reading Cain story( hopefully I can get it in paperback)

The wheels are turning in my mind as to how Part 2 will go but I can say I know it will be explosive (no pun intended). We will see them as two adults who has been through some SHIT!

I did not want to write about what happens in the story I just want to say for those who must read the reviews before purchasing or deciding to read a book I say READ THIS BOOK, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

Grammar Gods Take me Away!

I hate having to write reviews like this but I like being warned as a reader.

This could’ve been a great read, but the grammar was pretty bad before the author decided to write in an Irish accent, using broken English. I couldn’t finish.

You literally have to decode what the male character is saying because of the use of broken English with words like “tu” “yer” and more.

The author should’ve just wrote in standard English and when he was speaking directly to someone allow his Irish accent to come out then. However, writing in broken English was difficult considering the author’s writing already had numerous grammar mistakes. The entire book for me was broken English and I couldn’t finish.

If the author gets a proof reader or editor I’ll give her another try then.

Would have been great, but....

This would have been a great story, but I couldn’t finish it. The grammar errors were giving me a head ache and writing Connor parts in his accent was confusing.

Wow I really wanted to read this because I found the author on TikTok. I couldn’t get past the bad slang and the Irish dialect. I don’t understand the great reviews. I’m down with the interracial romance but this wasn’t it. DNF

Loved the premise and the main characters. However, the editing was not the best. It took away from my reading enjoyment to have to constantly correct the grammar, misspellings and the H’s accent throughout the entire story. I grew tired really fast. Also, given that the story ends on a cliffy, some of the characters just don’t seem to be that well developed (both the H/h mom’s). I stuck with it because I felt like I knew the author’s direction. Because I’m vested in the story, I’m gonna give part II a chance.

Yoooo this book is wild. Loved Connor, uh I liked Khalani too but my gosh she was naive. In spite of some gramatical error this book was crazy and I’m definitely recommending it once you can look pass the errors. Anyways no long talking... I’m on to book 2

I've just started reading it and the main thing that is really holding me back from continuing is Chrissy's relationship with her siblings... like idk what's going on there and some of them might be step siblings which is still weird. but I'm not sure why the incest sub plot was necessary.

Great book!

Would've given it a 5 star rating. However, there we're a few spelling and grammar errors. I love the storyline the plot and all the characters, good and bad ones. They all made this story feel real like you're apart of it. On to part 2.

The ages were the only thing holding me back on this. It was too much so I skipped a ton of the sex scenes, they were so unnecessary. Hopefully some years will pass and they'll meet back up in the next one. 10/8/2019 0:13

Good start but

The level of naivety of Kilhani was really annoying. I don’t know if she loved Connor or her idea of Conner. Let’s face it who would accept all these gifts without asking where the money was coming from? Her father, the kingpin did her a disservice. It’s all great to want to keep her away from the criminal world but to wrap her so much in bubble wrap that she’s caught slipping? Connor was clearly a psychopath, and I understand his attraction to her however by keeping her in the dark that much he left her exposed. For example had he explained exactly what the necklace was for he would have found her quicker. He thought he was controlling Margo but in the end she stabbed him. However he was really a victim of his impulsivity. He killed Margo before going to the bottom of things, same thing with his dad. As a result I’m sure that Kilhani is alive. I just hope that Margo didn’t sell her on. Looking forward to the next one with a more mature Connor.

This book was so chaotic for that. While this book was entertaining and I will be reading the next one there are ALOT of issues...
First the writing changing when going into Connors POV - hated and felt it was hard to follow and he clearly also spoke English so the writing didn't need to change to show he had an accent.

Kahlani did not try at all to get to know Connor before saying she would give up everything for him, for her to have been turning 18 she was so naïve but she did not care! I don't even think she really loved Connor at all

Connor trying to force her to have a baby didn't make any sense because he was next in line to be The Don as long as his Dad was dead

Margo should have gotten a POV once Connor got her and Partic together it would have made more sense IMO- she got the short end of the deal most of all

Patric POV just blame Margo and him being so weak was a major let down because how was she suddenly not Billy Bad ASS-

I have to give this book 5 stars because I honestly LOVED this story. Psychotic mafia prince addicted to a chocolate beauty.

The Irish accent was difficult, but I actually know people with that same exact accent and seriously have no idea what they are saying half the time. To me, this was hilarious!!! 😂

The amount of misspellings and misplaced words was shameful. For that alone I was tempted to give this book 1 or 2 stars. Seriously!

However, this story was so captivating, intense, filled with action, passions, and hot-as-fu@k sex scenes. I could not in good conscience give it less than 5 stars.

Part 1 ends in a cliffhanger but part 2 more than satisfies the thirst for revenge.

I cautiously recommend this book to the mafia romance lovers. Cautiously because of the accent and lack of an editor. If an editor was used, fire them immediately!

Good read

Had I known this was a cliffhanger I wld not have purchased this book. In spite of the grammatical errors it was a good read. Dnt purchase this if you dnt like cliffhangers. Wait until the second book is released then read them together. It takes two long for sequels to be released so I purchase books that end in cliffhangers and follow authors who only write cliffhangers. I will finish this series but I am not sure if I will purchase more books by this author. Again, this was a good read, errors and all, but I am not a fan of books with multiple parts to them. Authors who that should release the books together.

Soooo.... DNF at 7%. The writing was just a bit rough for me especially how the author chose to write out the Irish accent. I think just alluding to the accent makes for a much smoother read. I'm also a bit picky when it comes to writers and how they broach interracial couples and this just wasn't it for me. Him giving the black girl a pity date..... huh?? Like, the whole convo about her with his mom was weird . Maybe I'll revisit it another time but for now it's a no for me. HE LITERALLY SAYS HE WOULD NEVER MARRY A BLACK GIRL BECAUSE IT'S TOO MUCH DRAMA AND TOO GHETTO. Bruh....wtffff?

Bravo!!!! ( With a standing ovation). The typo's in this book was atrocious. It only deserved 2 stars. But the story itself is where the 5 stars come from. I loved the characters. I personally would have preferred if the characters were older, but that's just my opinion.

DNF...I just coundn't do it. I made it more than 50%, by a miracle. The dialect, the story, everything just wrong for me. I didn't like either of the main characters and btw, most of the story, these people are teenagers! Hard to believe given the Don storyline. It's just a no for me.

I enjoy Rose Marie writing and the story of Kahlani and Conner is captivating and engaging. BUUUUT, the grammatical errors just feel lazy. As if the author could not be bothered to correct the errors or the misspellings. Not in just this story but Part II also. If you push through all of that you have a story of a pyschopath and the woman who loves him. Kahlani is naive and pushes her misgivings aside as all women on the cusp of womanhood will do for their first love. Conner was all about the booty, if he could get it... But that first date changed everything. It really is a journey you must read and you'll get caught up in this crazy relationship.
