I'm falling for the enemy, and he's a straight man!
My opposing counsel is so cocky that it's maddening. He thinks he's got me beat in this case, but he's got another thing coming. I didn't work my way up through law school and the ranks of my competitive firm just to watch his hot @ss swagger across the courtroom to deliver a winning oral argument.
Yes, I just said he had a hot @ss. In fact, everything about him is hot. And he knows it, too.
I'm not going to let that distract me, though. It doesn't matter that he's openly flirting with me - he isn't even gay, so he must be able to tell that I am, and I know he's just turning on the charm to take my focus off my case.
Besides, even if I did want him - which I don't,- it's not exactly as if I'm out at work. There are certain stereotypes I must uphold as a lawyer at my prestigious firm and being gay is not one of them.
As I'm diligently pursuing victory for my client, though, Andrew is increasing his pursuit of me. He insinuates that he'd be gay for me and that we could keep it a secret. He seems to think I can keep working my way up the corporate ladder while also going down on him.
Fine, maybe a forbidden fling with him would be fun. But blowing him could blow my whole case - and both of our careers.
So why am I finding myself unable to ignore the powerful hold he has on me?
Oral Persuasion is a collection that contains books one through three of the Legally Yours series, which are standalone male/male steamy office romance books that can be read in any order but are best enjoyed together, and with a big glass of water nearby due to so much heat in addition to all those feels! They combine humor, heat and heart, and they have no cliffhangers and have very happily ever afters.
This box set contains the following: Opposing Briefs: An Enemies to Lovers Male/Male Romance Oral Arguments: A Secret Relationship Male/Male Romance Out Maneuvered: A Coming Out Male/Male Romance
This was free on Amazon and reviews were good, so I decided to read it.
I've only read the first one so far - Opposing Briefs - and it was going well. They are both lawyers, working for opposite sites, they met on multiple occasions in a court room. Then they share a few words, start running together and the kiss happens. Until the first ILY was said. That was the moment that everything sank for me. It was just off. Not on track with the pacing of the story. It was just out of nowhere. Like how? They spent together maybe a couple of days, they are still getting to know one another, and yet, the 3 little words come out to play. And you know what? I wouldn't even mind it, if it was believable. But it wasn't. And that's the thing - I didn't feel the love. Lust, yeah, sure, love...aaaa, no!
Also, Andrew is new to all of this and the way he was acting ''so natural'' with the touching and sex stuff, it was just not believable.
And the final thing was the grammer. Really, we still don't know the difference between your and you're?
Wow what a wonderfull compilation of sweet steamy romantic stories that follow the lives of three gay couples and their friends and nemesis! I love how all the couples make appearances in every story like one big happy family that will stand by each other and give support when needed! I received a free copy by the author and will definitely read more Ian Finn stories!
This book was offered free on Amazon. Of the 3 stories I found the first the most entertaining. The third story, which I was the most interest in reading was the worst. It was very nearly a dnf. See the individual books for my reviews.
I’ve previously reviewed each of these books separately so I’m putting them here…
Opposing Briefs: I love this author’s stories. He brings so much emotion to them that once I pick it up, I can’t set it down. The stories bring out the tears, laughter and temper in me. Logan is such a well rounded personality and I just had to like him. Andrew made me sad mostly. The guy spent a lot of years being unhappy and I hated that he didn’t seem to find anyone to even be friends with until Logan. I just wanted someone to stand up for him and protect him. The way these two get together seemed like a disaster in the making but the author found a way to put a number of situations together. I really enjoyed Matt and hope he gets his own story. Wyatt and Marie are people I’d like to watch karma attend to. Maybe they will appear somewhere again in a soup line! I had hoped that after the marathon Wyatt and associates would show up in jail. Overall I really enjoyed this book and hated to see it end. The ending was done so well I was not left with questions. I hope to read the more with these characters and can’t wait for the next story from this author.
Oral Arguments: I don’t know how the author keeps coming up with characters I just love. This story just made me what to keep reading to see what would happen next. Calvin nor Matt deserved the treatment they received from Gage. The ironic part of these two finding out about each other is almost funny. The path their relationship takes is questionable with the issues that keep happening. I enjoyed the author providing insight into the thought process each is going through. I also feel the secondary characters add so much to this story. The one that stands out for me is Nigel. I feel his action decided the direction Matt ended up on. How both of their careers progressed added a lot to the end of this story. I love the vows because they were just so fitting. I feel that this story didn’t really end rather it’s a where they are now. There is so much left open. Will Matt become the DA? What path will Calvin follow? And what about Nigel and Amanda. Then too what about Derek and Gage? I hope this series will answer these questions.
Out Maneuvered: This was a heartwarming story. Two people so compatible who find each other and then have uncertainty, a major conflict and evil thrown at them. Christopher appears to be such a easy going, well adjusted guy and finally gets together with Nigel. When everything should be coming up roses a wrench gets tossed into the perfect relationship and causes them to define just who they are. Christopher stands behind being himself and finds out that is not so easy. Nigel seems to have trust issues. I liked how the author brought together friends not only to help work out the relationship but also to resolve Christopher’s conflict. The bond all the friends, especially Matt, give the impression of, made me envious. No matter how many friends a person has there can never be enough nor enough close enough. The story has great flow and kept my attention. The characters were more than likable. I was glad to see the characters from Opposing Briefs and Oral Arguments appear in the story. It’s like touching base with old friends. Now I back waiting for the next story from this author.
**** Good box set of M/M stories This bundle is good because of the variety of situations encountered for homosexual couples the main thing is that a couple remains a couple whatever it is. Opposing brief ***** Self-acceptance (well, the story is perhaps less philosophical than that, but that's what it's about) Excellent description, very well written, of a man who discovers or rediscovers that he has lived in a lie since childhood and is homosexual and non-heterosexual. This book reminded me of the song of the group "Shaka Ponk" "Twisted Mind": when a man realizes that he is in love with another man, that he thinks he's irrational, that his whole life is going to be turned upside down, but finally, shouldn't he be happy rather than to suffer from not being himself? If we add to that an intolerant family, a shrewish woman, greedy for money, a homophobic boss, the relationship that begins to live Andrew quickly becomes complicated. Andrew is a lawyer in a big New York firm and is attracted by one of the assistansts of the public prosecutor (Logan) who is gay. He struggles with himself before attempting an approach because he knows he has a lot to lose if he tries to find out if he has not lied to himself all his life about his sexuality. In short, a very good romance that I devoured in a few hours. Oral argument : **** Romance between tenderness and manipulation It is a good, tender story of two men disappointed with their previous relationship because they were cheated, who meet and appreciate each other, but who also discover that their ex-spouse is none other than the same manipulator and that he comes back to break their lives. Calvin, an artist, followed his ex-spouse to New York and dropped him when he found out that he was cheating on him after a month. After 6 months of depression, he meets Matt, a lawyer. They enjoy themselves, but they discover that their ex is the same manipulative man and that he asks for Matt's assistance in a lawsuit against Calvin while he is the culprit in their problem. Between the emotion of the artist and the rigor of the lawyer forced by his boss to take this business he does not want, the story becomes both tender and complex emotionally and morally. Out maneuvered : *** Cute and interesting I liked this story a little less than others I had read before from Ian Finn, but she has a very educational point about protection and AIDS, which is interesting. The story itself relates the relationship between Nigel, a law student, and Christopher, a Broadway theater actor. The latter plays a role in a series, but this questions his passion for the theater and his new relationship with Nigel, as well as the way in which his image as an actor is going to be promoted to the media as to his sexual orientation I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This splendid, well-written MM romance series has three wonderful, heartwarming previously published books in it & I truly found it a pleasure to read all of them. Previously read separately. This is an emotionally charged gutwrenching and heartwarming boxset that will captivate you from the first few pages ti the last word. It will tear you down and build you back up. Must reads! Opposing Briefs. My heart ached for Andrew and all the abuses he suffered at home and work. I can't imagine the torture Andrew suffered between Maria and his boss. Manipulative and evil! Logan was like an answer to his prayers- sweet salvation and support ! The ending had me melting. It ended on a true emotional high you don't want to miss out on. Oral Arguments. I empathized with poor Matt and his situation. I was so happy when Matt finally spoke up to his boss about Gage! Sadly, his boss was all about the money! I was elated that Matt and Calvin found each other and moved up and on with their lives together. They both deserved the best. Loved the surprise twist with Gage at the end. Kudos author! Clever! Out Maneuvered. I liked how Nigel came to his friend Nick's aid with his hiv scare. It showed integrity and morales. What a great supportive friend he was. I enjoyed watching Christopher and Nigel grow and develop a sustainable relationship. Ethan's character was pure evil! I loved how supportive and friendly the lawyer group was. Inclusive and encouraging! Lots of feels and warm and fuzzies here.
This is an entertaining three book set with strong well developed characters. The author brings tons of emotions, steamy romances with hot chemistry and interesting and entertaining story lines.
