Lucia Roa needs a miracle to keep her fledgling event planning business from going under. When she gets word about the opportunity of a lifetime to do a Valentine's Day party for an elite club in Washington D.C. she jumps at the chance, only finding out that the party isn't for just any club, it is for the premier private BDSM club, Wicked. Desperate for a chance to make the social and professional connections that this job would offer, she agrees to a most unconventional business arrangement with the handsomest man she's ever met. CEO Isaac O'Keefe swore off relationships years ago after having his heart broken and his bank account emptied by his gold digging first wife. He thought he'd managed to keep his heart under lock and key, but when Lucia walks into his office he is instantly drawn to the fiery beauty in a way he's never felt before. He convinces Lucia to take the position as event planner for Wicked's Valentine's Day Party, but in order to make the event a success, something he needs to happen to secure his place on the board at Wicked, he must give her a crash course at all the dark pleasures BDSM has to offer. What starts out as a business partnership quickly turns into something more as Lucia breaks down every wall around his heart without even trying. Isaac must then make a choice, push Lucia away and continue to live a safe, but lonely life, or open himself up again to the greatest pain and pleasure in the world. Love.

Ann Mayburn

Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she's been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead(though she will deny to her children that it ever happened).

From a young age she's been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that often was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she's never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her 'sexy space' and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.

Lucia Roa is an event planner hoping to catch a big break with this opportunity to mange a Valentine’s Day part for an elite club in Washington. However, she is in for a little shock when she finds out that this isn’t just some romantic party, it’s actually a BDSM party for private members of the club called Wicked. Tired of doing sweet sixteen parties, Lucia tries her hand at landing the job but instead finds herself in hot water when she introduced to the hottie CEO named Isaac O’Keefe.

The chemistry between Lucia and Isaac is instant and intense! Right from the first page, Ann Mayburn plays up the sizzling sexual tension. I was fully enthralled by Isaac. Even his name is smoking hot! But there was something very alluring about him. He is a very fair Dom and I loved that he took the time to make Lucia trust him. The event planner job wasn’t enough to have Lucia trust him completely, but as time went on, Isaac slowly charms Lucia so that she becomes more comfortable with his presence and the nature of BDSM.

The first half of the book is Isaac getting Lucia used to the idea of BDSM. As a newbie, her discovery is a good way for readers to understand BDSM as well. If you’re a reader looking to try a BDSM book, then I think MY WICKED VALENTINE is a good start! With its slow buildup, it’s a great book for those curious, but don’t know where to start!

I found that I enjoyed Lucia mostly because of her open-mindedness. In the beginning of the story, she is completely blindsided about what BDSM is, but she doesn’t let that deter her. She keeps her mind open to possibilities and even though she was hesitant at first, she is the big reason why this relationship worked so well.

MY WICKED VALENTINE blends the sweet and sexy together into an enticing story. With V Day fast approaching, this book is the perfect read to get you ready!

All Isaac O'Keefe has to do is wow the Club Wicked membership by arranging a terrific Valentine's Day party and he's in as the newest member of the board. Easier said than done when it's an exclusive BDSM club that caters to the elite and famous in the Washington DC area. Taking a gamble on an unknown event party planner might be risky but if she succeeds he's a shoe in. On the other side if she fails.....

Lucia Roa goes to a job interview with few details on the party event but big on ideas. Discovering the party is to be held at a sex club may be challenging but she's not one to turn away a lucrative contract even if she knows nothing about the subject. Master Isaac is willing to give her a crash course posing as his sub but will it be enough when Roa discovers that not only does she like the BDSM lifestyle but wants to keep one sexy aloof Dom as her own personal Valentine master.

But not all want this duo to succeed and if there's one thing about the rich, it's that they have the money and resources to ruin anyone. It's just a matter of doing it without being caught.

What is it about a glitterkink BDSM book that can leave me with that dreamy feeling about Doms who are strong, hard headed & demanding yet sweet with a heart of gold. I do admit I'm a sucker for this type of thing so reading this book was an absolute pleasure for me. If only a place like this really existed I'd fly, drive, bike, or walk there if only to experience a small degree of the fun that I read about in this book. If this was a baseball game I'd say that it was the ninth inning and the author just hit a grand slam home run.

This has a reality based storyline that doesn't include any paranormal, dark elements, or serial killers to embellish it. Two semi normal people are thrown into an unusual situation and soon find out that they can't keep their hands off each other despite their ethical belief not to mix business with pleasure. The battle is on as they justify their temporary D/s relationship as a business research educational project. Right. And I'm selling the Brooklyn bridge cheap. :D

Throw in a cast of secondary characters who enhance this fictional world. It's when an author fleshes out the details and breathes life into it to have me believe these people and places are out there somewhere, some place. From Mrs Florentine's well meaning meddling to Hawk and Jesse's competition to one up their friend I was drawn into seeing this world in my mind and loving it. One of the main reasons I feel a good well written book is priceless.

I can't end this review without commenting on the bad guy subplot element that is there but not there. Vague reference right? Well, anyone who follows my reviews knows I don't do spoilers so why would that change now. All I'll say is that I thought I had it figured out early but did I?

I don't like to pigeon hole or categorize/compare authors/books/series so I'm really debating if the following is doing that. This has that Cherise Sinclair series book feel but on a more gritty yet realistic level. The BDSM action is there and very well depicted yet consistent with someone who is just entering the BDSM lifestyle so don't expect the whips and chains to be featured. If you're looking for a new first book in series read with a D/s slant this is one to grab and loose a few hours of zen over.

Combine a hot Latina lover with a suave sexual deviant and it will spark into sweet kinky sex. Ms. Mayburn kicks off another erotic trilogy with fun characters and a stroll through a BDSM playground. Lucia Roa is a determined entrepreneur starting out her party planning business. In the Washington DC area, this means she needs to meet the mover and shakers. Through a referral, she’s applying to be the party planner for an exclusive club’s Valentine Day party.

Issac O’Keefe is one of the elite. He is determined to be on the board of Wicked. Wicked is an exclusive BDSM members by invite only club. He wants to impress the powers that be with a memorable kinky fest no one will soon forget and this party will make the difference in his favour. He doesn’t think Lucia can handle it because the only parties in her portfolio are for children’s birthdays.

This set up is just right with a delish blend of realistic and fantasy elements. I categorize this as GlitterKink because it does contain several rich Dom/mes and a private BDSM club. If this club existed, lowly me could only dream about getting into the club. This aside, the BDSM showcased is light and just right for those just starting in their kinky book journey. Ms. Mayburn does an excellent job of building the fantasy yet staying true to BDSM elements. Just because the average person can’t afford all these luscious tools and equipment doesn’t mean it isn’t feasible.

The conflict in this story is all too real with backstabbing blackmail. Sexual deviance is still quite the taboo in this day and age. It could ruin a person’s reputation as well as destroy their career. Lucia feels this bite all too sharply as the victim of photo-shopped blackmail pictures. This is a very real concern many in the lifestyle fear. Ms. Mayburn gracefully resolves the conflict in a way that is not exactly a win-win, but it does stop the blackmail and the victim is not ruined. Well, maybe Lucia is a bit tarnished in her family’s eyes.

Ms. Mayburn’s forte is her relationship building. She constructs her characters carefully with just enough flaws to make them human. Then she adds in a dash of humour, snark and fortitude. Her characters come together because they have to overcome their individual fears in order to be comfortable in with each other. Is this not what everyone hopes to find? Someone who will appreciate and love them for themselves – warts and all? Riding alongside the character’s journey is both enjoyable and frustrating at times. It is enjoyable because Ms. Mayburn’s comedic timing is perfect. The frustrating part plays out when the characters do something which the reader knows will result in a miscommunication or hurt feelings. It makes the reader want to yell at the character. “Stop! Why? Why are you doing this?”

This kinky book is recommended to new to BDSM readers who want a taste of the exciting forbidden fruit.

My Wicked Valentine took me on an emotional roller coaster ride, that left me panting for more! The depth and character that each of her characters have is amazing!

It all starts with an upcoming Valentines Day party at the top BDSM club in D.C. where a just starting event planner (Lucia Roa) gets set up by her mentor, and meets a prominent member of the club (Isaac O’Keefe). Fireworks erupt between the two, setting the stage for the intense heat and passion throughout the story. But can two people from two totally backgrounds and circumstances make a go of it? You’ll just have to read the book.

I know. I’m so mean right? But you wouldn’t appreciate me giving the book away, so I won’t. * grins*

This book I think will touch a lot of us who have self image problems, or have been through bad relationships. I know we’ve all been there, and even if you’re in a happy relationship now, that doesn’t mean you haven’t had your ups and downs. But as this book demonstrates you have to sometimes take what you have and simply trust your partner to be there to catch you should you stumble, and to care for you when you need it.

This is adorable! Its been a while since I've read a romance that has the "right" kind of cliches in it, but Ann Mayburn’s My Wicked Valentine took me back to the good ol’ days and left me smiling like an idiot. This is the sort of read to pass a few short hours with and actually swoon over the not too shabby romance.

I’ll just jump the gun and get right to the heart of the story: the BDSM element. While this theme has its rough side, here it is delivered on a much lighter tone. This doesn’t distract from the alluring dark and raw side of this lifestyle, in fact it is a welcome reprieve from the much harsher side of it that tends to overwhelm sometimes (me anyway). I found it to be a steady introduction to BDSM that contrasts the romance of the story perfectly.

The chemistry between Lucia and Isaac is not only sizzling and intense but also sweet and passionate. I was fully committed to this couple right from the first page. The sexual tension remains at an all time high throughout the story, and once it reaches its pinnacle point...well...lets just say it is definitely worth the wait and suffering of the build-up. Besides this, Mayburn adds a sprinkle of humour, sassiness, and an edgy, realistic conflict to the story to balance out the kink factor. Its a splendid blend of elements, which not only fortify the story but also Lucia and Isaac as a couple.

Isaac O’Keefe is enthralling in a majestic sort of way. He doesn’t just exude confidence, he is confidence. He is intense as a Dom, yet at the same time he’s patient and takes the time to let Lucia adjust to his way of living and trust him, which I adored. Who doesn’t love an alpha male that happens to have a kinky side aannd accepts all of you, flaws and all?? I know I don’t. This man is simply hot and even I found myself wanting to fulfill his every demand!

Lucia is a character that is is easily relatable. She has her flaws, but that only highlight her as a strong heroine. Her open-mindedness and her easy acceptance of the BDSM lifestyle is both charming and admiring. In fact, even more than the romance, I enjoyed her character the most. She is conflicted at first (with good reason obviously), yet she tries to make her relationship with Isaac work. She devoted herself and that is what is so idolizing about her character.

With all the good, this book, unfortunately, also has the bad - the ending. It felt rushed and incomplete. The events leading up to the ending felt as if they were haphazardly thrown together, and all the built-up hype in the beginning dwindles near the ending of the book. It isn’t satisfactory and definitely not what I was expecting. In this sense, I was disappointed.

Aside from the reservations, My Wicked Valentine is no less enjoyable than it first starts out. It combines the vanilla and the dark side into one engaging story. This is perfect for all those curious about BDSM but don’t know where to start. This light story is definitely worth the read!

This was another great story by Ann Mayburn. There are a handful of authors I can count on for solid writing and a sprinkling of humor in their stories - Ann is in that group for me.

I loved Lucia, she was strong, smart, went after what she wanted despite the normal doubts and anxieties. She had some body issues, but they were refreshingly minor and not a part of her character which seems to happen so often.

Isaac was closer to a stereotype, but I enjoyed his inner dialog while rolling my eyes at the conclusions he would reach. His part was both hunky alpha male and exasperating man.

My only complaint - and I think I must be more vindictive than Ann Mayburn, because this came up in another of her books - is not really finding out what happens to the bad guy. Other than the initial response, this part just seems to disappear and I was left with some questions. The main one was, did he act alone or not?

But that is a minor quibble - I'm notoriously big on a good comeuppance. ;) I loved this story and recommend it to those who love erotic BDSM contemporary romance as well.

I've read Exquisite Danger and Exquisite Trouble, thus was expecting this book to have a similar conversational feel. However, I was ridiculously disappointed. The conversation between the characters seemed contrived and fake and really really really didn't work for me.

I have to admit, I was a little obsessed with this book. Started reading it as a reward for walking on the treadmill then began sneaking in paragraphs at stoplights the next day while driving around for work. Finally had to take a REALLY LONG coffee break at Starbucks so I could finish it!

Ann Mayburn, you have created a monster.

Sadly, I'm fairly certain I'm not emotionally or physically capable of living out the BDSM lifestyle without falling off my high heels and giggling a lot. But it sure is fun to read about.

Thanks for spicing up my work day...and workouts.

I have found my new series! A feisty novice of a sub, a cold-heart-about-to-crack Dom and a Fantasy Island of a BDSM club juxtaposed with the realistic clash of her urban Latino roots and his gilded upbringing made this an enjoyable story that took many turns. Add the steamy, volcanic scenes between the two and you have a book I couldn't put down. Never have a pair of scissors looked so sexy and I now have a craving for peaches, but mostly I can't wait to see what happens next at Club Wicked!

"Don't you know how beautiful you are? When you walk into a room, every man turns to look at you and wishes you were his. There isn't one part of you I don't find amazing."

I enjoy this, and it pleases me.
It wasn't the best BDSM book I have ever read, but it was satisfying.
Sure, there are many plotholes along the way, but the romance and character growth make up for it.

The plotline goes straight to the point. By 1 page in, we get into it, the sexual tension, the drama and the mystery of the BDSM world.
I love the chemistry of the couple. It was a cat and a mouse relationship. The teasing between Lucia and Isaac was so good. I love their banter and their role-playing. It makes their relationship fun and keeps the plotline pace fast.

The downside of the plotline was how I feel like the focus of the event planning, and parallel of BDSM was lightly touched. It wasn't the focus of it, even though the synopsis of it says it is. We know Lucia was being introduced to the BDSM world, but it felt like she wasn't properly introduced to their sexual tension led them to have sex with BDSM elements. I wish it were explored more, even though the spicy scenes were FANTASTIC.

"Fine, let's say this. Neither of us will have sexual interactions with others while you're in training with me. I believe this is fair. But if you must agree, that means for these next few weeks you are my submissive in truth, Kitten. All of you, every single inch of your silky golden skin, is mine to play with, mine to pleasure, mine to devour."

closes the book and hops in a cold shower. Oh my dayum. Ok so got to give Ms Mayburn props. Loved it!!
I usually either dislike the sub or just like her. I so adored lucia! her sassy, her freshness her innocence. Issac ok a Dom with a wee bit of a issue to get past. But yet He knew that Himself never tried to hide how or what He was looking for in a sub. Harsh but there it is.
I like how Lucia totally threw Issac for a loop has hard as he tries to keep it business. You can see the cracks in the wall starting to form.
The scenes were hot and yeah hot. *smiles* The Dom in Issac showed a new sub what it could be like. His eagerness to show Lucia what BDSM is, along with His care of her. Made just a good Dom. The sub what Dom wouldnt love to introduce her to the lifestyle. I also liked Issacs reason for wanting to be on the board.
The pace of the story was steady kept you reading, the characters were so over the top that they couldnt be believed. A bit of Knight and shinning armor situation, that caused the Dom to meet her family and helped with reminding Him of past goals He had set for Himself.
All in all this was so fun to read. Enjoy!

This was a first from this author and I have to say it was a really good erotic start to a series.
I like both characters. Lucia was a great character. She had spunk and I even liked that she was Latina too with curves. You don't get to many of those. She also had an attitude on her too. She really was a strong willed person until of course Isaac entered her life. He started out as a jerk but worked his way into my like list. He was the hot CEO who was trying to find a caterer for the Valentine's party at Club Wicked until Lucia walked into his office and everything changed. For the better, of course but when he offered to teach Lucia the Wicked world of BDSM he ends you learning something himself too.

I really enjoyed the great details in the some of the scenes. It made you feel like you were there. This was a great start to this series and I'll definitely be reading the rest.

This was a deliciously "wicked" story from Ann Mayburn! I've previously read some shorts from this author but this was my first full-length novel. While I liked the shorts, I always find that they're missing character development. In this book, we got character, plot, and a whole lotta steamy sex. My favourite elements in a novel...so this one was a winner for me.

Lucia was a wonderful, spunky heroine and Isaac a total jerk...until he wised up of course and redeemed himself. In the process he revealed himself to be a very sexy Dom to Lucia's curvy sub. Loved reading the detail in the scenes they did.

A great start to this series...and I'll definitely be reading the rest.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and it certainly won't be my last.

I loved his book. Hot, emotional and set in the sort of BDSM club you can only dream about.

*fans self*

Loved this so much I am launching myself straight into book two of Club Wicked, which I'm told is even hotter. My Kindle may self combust ;-)

However, what I liked most about this was not the awesome sex, but the beautiful love story the author tells us in this book.

Ms. Mayburn is easily a new addiction for me. My Wicked Valentine is the start of the new series, that I absolutely loved. Lucia and Isaac were great together and super hot. I'm looking forward to visiting Wicked often. The way their relationship builds is not over the top, and is very believable and you can't help but fall in love right along with them. You won't be disappointed.

Actually 3 1/2 stars

Event planner Lucia Roa is desperate. She needs a big job to keep her fledgling company afloat, so when her mentor recommends Lucia for the job of a lifetime planning a party for a private club, she jumps at the opportunity. However, what Mrs. Florentine didn't tell Lucia as that the party is at an adult club -- a BDSM club. Isaac O'Keefe really wants to make a good impression on the Powers That Be at Club Wicked, so he's looking for the perfect event planner for their big event. However, no matter what Mrs. Florentine (Wicked's elderly co-owner) says, Isaac believes that only an event planner familiar with BDSM could plan the perfect part. But Lucia really needs the job, and Mrs. Florentine is very persuasive, so Lucia and Isaac make a deal -- he'll spend a week with her at the club (in a non-sexual way, of course), teaching her all about BDSM, and if she's still interested, the job is hers.

The clueless novice is a staple of BDSM novels, and Lucia is definitely that, though with her spunk and determination, she's not the typical submissive heroine. Isaac is firm but caring (and mostly your typical Dom hero), but the difference in their perspectives really makes the romance work. However, the book drags in spots, and could use more elaborating in others. It's still an entertaining read.

I become a fan of Mrs Mayburn after reading Dreamer of Chosen by the Gods series. When I saw she released new a Erotic Contemporary Romance series, I know I have to check it out. And boy was I glad. I stayed up late finished this book, because it was quite a page turner. I found myself laughing out loud several time, because it was funny. I know not everyone is fan of BDSM, but no worries, that part was actually very light.

Lucia Roa is an event planner that needs a big break, when she gotten an interview to do a Valentine's Day party for an elite club in the city, she know this is her chance. However, when she met the person who is in charge of the event, CEO Isaac O'Keefe, she wonder what she really gotten herself into. When Isaac O'Keefe first set his eyes on Lucia, he know one way or another he has got to have her. Even if he swore off relationships long ago.

Wicked is one of the oldest private BDSM club in the city, and to plan this event, Lucia have to learn about BDSM style, with Isaac being her Master. It all started out as a business partnership, but the attraction between Lucia and Isaac have quickly turns into something that neither of them are sure if they are ready for.

The actual BDSM elements in this book were very light, and I thought the story of Lucia and Isaac were really sweet and sexy.

Lucia was smart, and has a strong personality, even though she know Isaac would be breaking her heart, she still couldn't help to fallen in love. She also pushes his boundaries helped him facing his inner self.

Isaac was charming and confidence, expect when it comes to love. I very much enjoy reading his inner dialogs, although he could acting quite a jerk sometime.

If you are looking for something light, fun and sexy, definitely check this book out. .

Lucia wants to make her company one of the best party planning companies around. Her mentor, Sara, sends her to Isaac who needs more than just a party planner in her eyes and Sara knows that Lucia fits the bill. When Lucia finds out just what kind of party Isaac is planning and what it may entail her to do she balks but promises to think things through over in the next few days. This once in a lifetime opportunity would be a shame to pass up. Can there be a connection with a vanilla girl like Lucia and a kinky man like Isaac? Has Sara’s matchmaking finally paid off?

This was a great introduction to the club called Wicked and the people associated with it. I adored Lucia. She is a strong willed woman who wants to make it in life and will stop at nothing to try and achieve her goals. Isaac is a wonderful man but he guards his heart because of the hurt in his past. Watching Lucia break down the walls Isaac has put up was a wonderful read. She loves with all her heart and enjoys life to the fullest, giving everything she has. Lucia is honest and loving which is something totally alien to Isaac and seeing him react to her made for a beautiful read. Emotions run high as the two try to figure out just where they stand. Isaac longs for what Lucia can give him but is afraid to let his guard down and he may lose her because of it.

Not only did the main characters shine, but the secondary characters endeared themselves to me, making me eager for the next book in this series. I loved seeing Isaac’s closest friends help to show him just what Lucia truly means to him. This hot read is also a beautiful romance that pulled me in from the start and kept me entertained all the way until the end.

OK- My first thought was WHOA- Slow down here Lucy you just met this guy! Things move a little fast in the introducing of poor sweet unsuspecting Lucy to the BDSM world. In the fantasy or sci-fi genre I can suspend disbelief easily but its harder for me in a contemporary novel. Then I sat back and thought but man is it good Soooo...I suspended my disbelief on how easily she accepted it then took Ms. Mayburns hand and jumped off the cliff and landed in Club Wicked. Ms. Mayburn did not let me down! I love Lucia. She is a smart, up and coming, business woman with a latina hot temper but totally new to the BDSM experience. I liked Isaac too. Even though I wanted to smack him around a few times for his behavior. As a Dom, he was really yummy. MMMM leather pants... suit and tie...naked... Its all good. The sex scenes were sizzling. I enjoyed reading about the main characters and became more than a little curious about some of the others. Club Wicked is a decadent BDSM dream. I would love to visit :) Fortunately for me Club Wicked, #2 is already out and Club Wicked #3 to come soon. Thank goodness for "Buy with One Click"

The lighthearted banter that permeates this story, be it from the main characters...Lucia and Isaac...or from the deliciously rich secondary characters, makes it a keeper.

Lucia is decidedly natural in her responses to life in all its presentations, and Isaac is...well, he's a pretty hot Dom, but about as obtuse as a male can get. And they can get pretty obtuse! It's a good thing that the Dom-ier (yes, I have hereby declared this to be a word!) they are the harder and truer they fall.

Having just heard Ms. Mayburn speak on panels at AAD, it does not surprise me how much fun this story and all its characters, provides to the reader. It's a nice change from what currently seems to be the requisite deep, dark angst in this genre. Not that it doesn't have it's place, it's just every now and then we need to be reminded that life is more easily negotiated with humour and a positive approach.

I had been hearing great things about My Wicked Valentine for ages and I was very excited to finally get the chance to read it. It was definitely a fantastic start to a series that I cannot wait to finish.

Both Isaac and Lucia were such great characters - I also really loved the more minor characters, like Laurel and Rita, who didn't play a huge role, but were super fun nonetheless.

The plot is different from many BDSM stories out there, which was super refreshing. The plot was a slow build, but I still really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to read more from Ann Mayburn.

interesting start to a book but very quickly the book took a side trip when the story line seemed to get chopped up. I really felt there was not alot of character deveopment and I didnt really have an attachment to the characters.
That being said I like the idea of this old clu that began at the turn of the century. Where anyone who is anyoneand want to be anoymous and kinky goes.
The relationchip btwn Issac and Lucia was interesting but for someone who was not interested she turned around very fast.
I may read the next they donot seem to be connected
