Jessie Murphy is released from prison with the intention of escaping her past. Homeless and alone, her plans to dodge karma’s spite seem like nothing more than wishful thoughts until a shot of Wild Turkey turns things around. But her dark past backs her into a corner, leaving her with nobody else to trust. One of my favourite books, incredibly story with strong woman who went through too much in her short life, when she is almost ready to give up, someone gives her a chance. It's a story about two broken people, love, violence, healing, tattoos and laughter. Author has a great sense of humour but can also vividly portrait despair of her characters. Do give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

THE NORTH STAR is quite a story of two very broken, down on their luck, people. Both trying to drink away their past, and not looking forward to any future. Being able to survive another day is their only accomplishment. Not surprisingly, they meet in a bar.

Jessie Murphy is released from prison. She is homeless and alone except, for the company of an old man. They were both sleeping under a bridge. Jessie was also hiding from an MC club's president that wants her back to torture or kill. She wandered into a bar one night because she really needed a drink. She spent what money she had. Then she meet an angel. A bar angel that bought her free drinks, and asked for nothing in return. She returned every night for some more free drinks. Then one night she decided the bar was too dangerous for her to continue going there. But that was not the end of their story. Karma would have them meet again.

His uncle befriends this dirty, homeless girl, and she ends up living in his RV trailer. She just has to share it with his nephew. The nephew, Bard, is no other than her bar angel. Only he is no angel. He is a drunk and a hermit. He would do anything to help her, but her motto is trust no one. She fights their attraction. She wants him, but feels she can't have him. But when her dark past shows up, it is only Bard that she has left to trust.

He looked her right in the eye and said, “No matter what happens, you can always navigate your way back home, Jessie. You are never alone. The very last star is the North Star. If you can find that, you'll always know which direction you're going. You're my North Star, Jessie. I was lost until I met you.” SWOON!!

Another amazing book by Wendy Cole! She’s utterly outdone herself with this novel. Full of twists and turns The North Star’s plot is incredibly well-written and stands out from other books in the same genre. The imagery and descriptions are beautiful and make you feel as if you’re experiencing the fear, love and heartbreak, amongst the countless other emotions, that Jess endures. A perfect blend of romance and mystery that will keep you on your toes and wanting more! I implore you to take a chance on this novel because you surely won’t regret it!

4.5 stars. Maybe the most impressive thing about this book is how the author got me to connect with the main character despite her being my complete opposite. I didn’t always understand her or agree with her actions but I was rooting for her.
Actually, I lied. Bard is the most impressive thing about this book. 😍

I loved this book. I think every woman would fall in love with Bard, even though he is so distant and broken. He and his damaged new love find a way to grow strong together. I loved the characters, the flow of the book and the energy it radiates. Am looking forward to reading more of Miss Cole's books.

Must Read!

I didn't expect to like this story as much as I did. Though it did end very nicely, my hope is that the author write stories for the secondary characters in another book. Boe needs his own story😉

“The North Star” by Wendy Cole is the first book I have read from this author and let me tell you I found a new author to follow. The story itself was well written, well told, with great characters that you cannot help fall in love with them. You have some funny moments with a mix of action that keeps you reading to find out what will happen next. It’s a must-read book highly recommended.
