Belle I was getting married. This was supposed to be the happiest time of my life. But something was missing. This arrangement didn’t feel right. The memories of one night six years ago kept coming back, replaying themselves in my mind. Every kiss I shared with my fiance only provoked longing for another man. A man I hadn’t seen or heard from in over six years. And then, almost out of thin air, he appeared, in my apartment, as if he belonged there.
Christian Belle has always belonged to me. That night six years ago was just a prelude to forever. But it’s taken time for me to grow up and get it together, to create space for her to be by my side. And now that she is, I won’t let anything or anyone take her away. Not her doubts, her family, and especially not the inevitable dangers that come with belonging to Palermo’s most notable crime family.
This was a free download exclusively found on Tiffany Patterson's website. I enjoy just about everything she puts out and Bella was no exception. Beware that this does end on a cliffhanger though! I agree that Belle is definitely written as a Pollyanna type innocent young woman, but I do understand how Christian is drawn to her. He's dark, violent and a mobster and she's beautiful, sweet and cares for animals. She sees the good in everyone, as Christian observes throughout the book. He basically stalked her for years, loving her from afar until he finds out she's engaged as sort of a business merger with her dad's company and another company's CEO's son. Belle had carried a torch for Christian too for years, but it doesn't culminate into a full blown romance until Christian swoops in and basically, sweeps her off her feet. It's a whirlwind from there. Typical of Tiffany Patterson's style, she's got some very well-written love scenes. Good back story with complicated familial relationships in both Christian and Belle's families.
Love the authors story telling, keeps the story to the point.
Christian has always had his sights on Belle but decides to wait until both are ready. He has to go back to Palermo to tend to family matters. When he finds out Belle is engaged, he returns to claim her.
Belle is shy and keeps to herself and studies. She’s engaged to Anthony, the arrangement is to benefit their company’s. Belle’s brother is merely looking out for the business. Anthony breaks off the engagement with Christian’s persuasion.
Christian comes to woo Belle and things get a bit crazy? Christians biological mother appears? Belle’s brother appears to make things complicated.
This was an ok read. Just like Locked Doors, I feel that it would’ve been better had the 3rd act really went for the action and suspense instead of giving us just a taste. I get it that we’re suppose to cheer for these guys, but they all would go the ends of the Earth for their women— so let’s let them do that!
Without spoiling the story, it would’ve kicked this up a notch had the bad guy really gotten away and the hero was a second too late or something.
It was still a cool read and it does end on a cliffhanger, just a heads up.
Bella was just an ok read for me. Truthfully the best character in the book outside of Christian was the dog. Her other characters were somewhat weak(imo). I generally like everything I've read by Tiffany Patterson but lately her writing has been so-so and her editing sucks. I hope she addresses these issues in her next series of books. Also, to have to wait years for sequels of such poor quality is ridiculous.
I hate to give a bad review on anything with Tiffany Patterson's name on it, but I rolled my eyes so many times while reading this book. I hate stories about women so damn naive; it's annoying. This was a good book and I move hearing about Lydia and Emilio but Belle annoyed me.
He loves her from afar, watching over her, protecting her for years. She loves him for years, unbeknownst to her that the feeling is mutual, but she must marry another to save her father business that her brother is managing. Well, that is until Christian say: hell to the NO! not his woman! Well, Bella, you have a heart of gold, but you need to become a badass to survive in your husband’s world! :) great read!
This was really good. It is like a sequel to the "Locked Doors" book. And, this ends on a cliffhangar as well. I am anxious for the next book! I recommend this one highly.
