Assigned as required or recommended reading at law schools throughout the country, 1L of a Ride provides a candid, comprehensive roadmap to both academic and emotional success in law school’s crucial first year.
I couldn’t recommend this book enough for someone going into law school. I was worried about doing well my first couple years of law school, especially since I was mechanical engineering undergrad and had never had to write papers before. I am now going into my 3L year and am ranked 4/222 in my class.
If you read and truly follow the suggestions in this book, you will 100% rank well 1L year.
Really helpful for incoming law students to read prior to law school for a baseline understanding of what to expect 1L year. I don't think this should be regarded as a bible for success, but if you don't have anyone in your life who is a lawyer, this can really help ease anxieties of what to expect.
This book was super helpful and I plan on implementing the advice found in the book during my 1L year! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it took a lot for me to desire to read this book and pick it up each day, but I would say it was worth it in the end!
Very informative about what to expect for law school. It gave me peace of mind prior to starting school. I feel more prepared and as more equipped with strategies.
Solid read that got me thinking in the right mindset before starting law school. Interested to see how it continues to relate as I progress through this first year.
If you asked me whether I feel more or less prepared, I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle. There were definitely aspects of this guide that helped ease some of the uncertainty and gave me a clearer sense of what to expect, which I really appreciated. At the same time, there were parts that left me feeling a bit more anxious than before. I think the real test will come once I actually begin. Whether or not I update my review after my first semester has yet to be determined.
