Thank you to Jenetta Penner for the review copy in exchange for an honest review. This does not change my opinion in anyway.
A Necessary Sacrifice is already the 7th installment to the Spellcaster Academy. I enjoyed this installment more again I am pleased to announce. It is really showing that we are starting to wrap things up as it was announced the eight one will be the last one.
Josie is finally starting to connect with her uncle, a little at least, and her relationship seems to have settled back into a solid base. For as much as that is possible during a war. We are slowly heading into some answers when it comes to the Darkness for this book. They discover that maybe the darkness wisp have not been killing people. But taking them!
As said it is starting to show that we are building up towards an ending. Where in the other installments it felt like we weren't quite heading in any direction, this one does. Through some new revelations (which, bless, did not all come from josie this time) they are getting a better idea on how the Darkness works.
All the balls are getting close to being set and The Darkness has to respond.
In this episode, Josy and her friends are still plotting against the darkness. The battles seem to be at a standstill for now. I’m starting to get anxious for things to ramp up.
For now, I enjoyed the drama with Aspen and his bio dad. And the dilemma with Rosalee. The rest of the episode focused on Josy’s plan to try and rescue those who had been taken by the wraiths. Most of the story was planning. The actual plan went by very quickly.
By the end, there were plenty of questions left to keep me reading. There’s been a lot of build up, and I’m dying to see how it will all play out.

Total Score: 5/5
Summary: Josy and her friends will do whatever they cane to save the world, but what is the cost. Josy may be a Morelli with special powers, but she is like any other teen She finally found a place to belong and friends she can count on, but that could all disappear literally if they can’t find a way to stop the darkness from destroying the world. Josy is once again forced to make life and death decisions with little to help her besides a belief in her self and her friends. But exactly who and what stands in their way is yet to be revealed.

There is a traitor in the position of power, even in the Directorate, and the leak of information is taking its toll. Wraiths come to attack and kidnap people, and with figuring out the possible truth behind, Josy needs to offer herself as a sacrifice with uncertain results. More and more suprising revelations appear on the pages, including the truth about Aspen's parentage. After all, it's a double-edged sword - on one side bringing emotional turmoil to Aspen, on the other side providing a potential ally in a position of power. Yet as the Darkness progresses, everyone is suffering under the weight, and even Josy feels the temptations of surging the magical power. As the tension escalates, it becomes clear an epic finale is coming closer and closer.
So double vision not answered, I’m glad aspen and josy are doing okay and they are back to normal if not stronger!
But what’s this weakening josy is feeling? Is aspen feeling it too? Will her parents make another ghost like appearance whose the medical lady that came out of the ring? Will they find the traitor? Will the curse be broken? This book left me having more questions than answered!! It has me as curious as a cat! Looks like I’m not having a break and moving straight onto book 8 bring it on!
Josy once again has many challenges and, of course in true Josy fashion, her motives are purely altruistic. I love her fortitude and sacrifice in order to try and save many suspected lost souls at the risk of becoming lost herself. As usual, Aspen stood by to support her along with other friends there as well. But we’re not done yet with this series. They still have to find the traitor. I’m anxiously waiting for the next episode as this series reaches its conclusion. Highly recommended.
Wow she is so powerful now! They have a great plan to try to recover everyone who was taken by the wraiths, until everything falls apart. Hopes are dashed. Poor Nine goes through a lot in this book! Josy is on the go almost non-stop. I have no idea how her body doesn't collapse. She barely remembers to eat and worries to much to sleep. When they figure a way around the problem that Rosalee's parents create Josy has to leave this dimension. What will happen?

Where do I begin....Josy's growth in character and power are growing. The "Darkness" is growing as well. I feel like this was more of a "filler" story versus anything else, but it's good nonetheless. I can't wait to see what happens in the last book!
I adore this series. Each episode is even better than the one before…. The tempo really picks up in this installment and plots seem to thicken. Josy is really coming into her own, despite difficult circumstances. Nine is as hilarious as ever, and Rosalee is becoming likeable. A pleasure to read and highly addictive.
Things are tense as more people are taken by the wraiths. Everyone is waiting for the Directorate to make a decision on what to do. Josy and her friends decide that the only way they are going to find out about the Darkness is for Josy to be captured by a wraith. But what a terrifying mission. An exciting, nail- biting adventure!
This penultimate chapter is building up to a fantastic conclusion. The plan is formed and everyone knows what is needed to be done. It thoroughly gripped me and as soon as it finished..... I immediately reached for the final part to find out what was going to happen!!!!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this voluntary review
Since I have been with Josy and the gang since her very first steps into the world of magic I have followed all her ups and downs. The struggles not just she faces but those surrounding her. Watching this story unfold has become a welcoming experience. I'm craving to see how this will all unfold
This is a great series for the young and old alike. I don't usually read short stories like this but this is a exception, I am glad I accidentally got it. Great story telling by the author makes the pages fly by. Great characters help move it right along. Great Reading everyone!
Lots happening in this next instalment ... are people dying or being taken somewhere, when attacked by the Wraiths? Just who is Aspen’s real father? And more! I received a free copy of this book.
I read this episode straight through. I couldn't put it down. Josy is working hard to protect all on the side of magic. This was a great story. Can't wait for the last episode.
