When I saw this and saw the list of author's I knew I had to get it . I'm on an anthology kick at the moment and this but the spot . All 8 books are awesome from Innocence Lost by Patty Hansen , Book Of Never by Ashley Capes , The Dragon's Champion by Sam Ferguson , Beneath the Canyons by Kyra Halland , The Last Priestess by Elizabeth Baxter , Stargazy Pie by Victoria Goddard , Enchanted Horse Retold by Demelza Carlton , The Silverleaf Chronicles by Vincent Trigili . What a collection of great author's and great stories . I'm not going to pick a favorite one . I enjoyed every single story in this so I'm giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ . If your looking for some new authors then jump on this collection because you will be like me staying up late and not even caring because one more page has turned into half the night and you have to work the next day lol . Don't say you haven't been warned . Lol
Loved the first 3 stories but then only half-read each of the rest. Although, sadly, didn't even look at the last one.
Innocence Lost by Patty Jansen 4/5 Solid fantasy adventure with brave leading lady. good characters, easy read.
Beneath The Canyons by Kyra Halland 4/5 Good cowboy atmosphere. Likeable characters. Romance is fine as it works well with the plot.
The Last Priestess by Elizabeth Baxter 4/5 Strong female character but male a bit wishy washy. Solid adventure of fantasy and magic. A few tiny editing issues.
This is an amazing collection of books. Each has it's own appeal. I enjoyed each and everyone of them. If your into fantasy and magic definitely get this collection. The last novel to me was the best, I can't wait to read the next one. All of them I'm looking forward to the next one. You will not be disappointed, great job authors 👏👏
This is a fantastic collection that will transport readers to various magical worlds filled with adventure, danger, and intriguing characters. Each of the eight novels in this collection is a captivating and immersive read, offering a unique blend of swordplay, magic, and epic storytelling.
Jansen's writing is skillful and vivid, drawing readers in from the very first page and keeping them hooked until the final chapter. The world-building in each novel is rich and detailed, making it easy to lose oneself in the fantastical realms she has created. From fierce warriors to powerful sorcerers, the characters in these novels are compelling and well-developed, making it easy to root for them as they face incredible challenges and overcome formidable foes.
Whether you're a fan of high fantasy, sword and sorcery, or epic adventures, "Sword & Magic: Eight Fantasy Novels" has something for everyone. Each novel in this collection is a gem in its own right, offering a satisfying mix of action, magic, and intrigue that will keep you turning pages late into the night. Overall, I highly recommend this collection to any fantasy lover looking for a thrilling and immersive reading experience.
I got this anthology to read a taste of the Victoria Goddard series, Greenwing and Dart, after having become enthralled by Hands of the Emperor. The protagonist in Stargazy Pie is entirely unlikeable - sneezy, dopey, and grumpy all in one. Desperately ripe for some serious character development into somebody worthwhile. Fortunately, I happen to trust Dr. Goddard in the character development department. The remaining books in the series (5 so far, as of the time of the writing of this review) see the series mature into a compelling read.
The concepts in each story were all fascinating, but not as well-executed as they should be for a published work. There are several simple errors that detract from the stories, and loose ends (not related to the cliffhanger-style endings), that leave the reader confused. I would encourage a thorough editing through them all to refine them, as they all have the potential to be great stories. -J’s lovebunch
It was an enjoyable read. My favorite was the Silverleaf Chronicles I wanted to read it all the way through I didn't want to have to put it down it kept me enchanted. When something can entertain me and make me want to come back for more that well I truly enjoy it.
I did enjoy reading this collection of stories. There weren't any egregiously obvious cliffhangers to make me angry. Yes, all the stories seem to continue in subsequent books but they do give logical endings as the storylines come to some fairly satisfying conclusions. It may whet your appetite for more.
Loved it! Eight fantasy stories that were full of magical things and dragons that people could fly on. I now have eight more authors to follow! I’m a happy camper and wish for more epic stories like these.
A Great collection of stories giving a taste of some really imaginative writers. I had many enjoyable hours reading and becoming lost within the many worlds created by talented wordsmiths.
This is a great collection of fantasy books. I would like to thank the authors collectively for their contributions. This gave me hours upon hours of excellent reading. Well done. Recommended reading.
Of all these books there were only two that just took so long to get into that I gave up. The last book I was struggling with but jumped a few pages and it was great. I recommend reading the blurb before deciding to buy or not. A mixed bag definitely.
I quite enjoyed this book except for one story which was possibly the worst thing I have ever read, and I read every single day,I will recommend this as I don't feel the other authors should be penalised for one terrible story
I think I enjoyed pretty much every book in this collection. I'm a sucker for; medieval, magic, dragons, castles, horses and crowns. Very gripping books some more than others but I'm thankful for the chance of reading about the different worlds created by the different authors.
A very mixed bag with regards quality and liking. A couple of the books were awful and did not make enjoyable reading at all either being difficult reading style or poor quality of storyline. Having said that, a couple of the books were brilliant and made compelling and interesting reading. Others were fine but not outstanding yet fairytale good. The novels did however give an introduction to different authors so enabled ideas for further reading.
This was a good selection of books to read. Not to long and not too short. These kept my interest and provided much enjoyment. I would recommend these books for anyone who enjoys the fantasy of magic and dragons.
This is a great collection of fantasy novels. I found a new series and I read a book from one of my favorite authors. What a great way to sample different books and authors.
These books and characters were inspirational and charismatic. You can’t help but fall in love with the characters. These books combined every kind of characters and religions from Vampires to Angels and Christianity to Voodoo. I absolutely loved them all.
Fantasy with a twist, each chronicles an era for change order to survive. Chaos. and traumatic passages through time and space follows our heroes. Fantastic read.
What a bait! Several books for very little money? Of course I took it. The problem is that none of these novels is a story in itself. It would always end up in a cliffhanger. I hate cliffhangers.
