*spoiler alert* this book had a good idea, to begin with, but it started getting annoying when their contract came to an end, she was pregnant and didn't tell him even after finding out and the fact that both loved each other but said absolutely nothing until the last few chapters. I skipped a few chapters because it became so frustrating how they didn't communicate at all. They just went round in circles and their relationship didn't even progress that much in my opinion. The characters were good, but at the end, they started getting a bit annoying when all you see is their endless dilemma about 'I love him, and I want to tell him that I'm pregnant, but I want him to want me, not just the baby' or 'I love her, but I can't bring myself to say it so when I end the contract ill just stay away until I can get over her'. They act childish a lot of times and that really brought down my opinion of the book.
no OW/OM Happy ending Brother does cheat on his wife Misunderstandings that can be fixed with clear communication.
Just Faking It is a well written brother's best friend romance with just the right amount of drama, twists, off-the-charts chemistry, secrets, lies, witty banter, betrayal, heartbreak, likeable characters, and a HEA.
I volunteered to review an advance reader copy of this book.

I read this book in a box set “forbidden desires”. The stories were good but needs major editing done. This was one of my favorite stories. Sofia and Jake grew up together. Jake was her brothers best friend. Sofia seduced Jake into taking her V card. Months later Sofia goes to visit him in NY only to be shot down. Sofia goes back home but has a drive to change her life. She wants to have her own bakery. She moves to NY and works at a 5star hotel trying to save money to open her own shop. Her best friend encourages her to come to the company party where she sees Jake again. Jake wants to make partner at his law firm, but they want him to settle down. So he offers Sofia a chance to live with him for 6 months as his wife, and he will help her with getting her own bakery and him partnership at work. The two slowly grow into real husband and wife. But when 6 months is up, she moves out but they don’t file papers yet. She is hoping he will ask her back and want her before she has to tell him about the baby. But that changes when her brother comes to town and finds out about the baby before Jake does. Jake doesn’t freak out too much he just asks for answers and makes new plans and hopes that Sofia will like the new plan and future.
Jake & Sof— Gahli, they’re so perfect. Their marriage started out as a business deal and ended up with them falling head over heels in love, but at the same time, they were both scared to reveal their feelings to one another. Sof kept a secret from him after their deal ended that resulted in her almost losing Jake for good, but thank the heavens for their love. I love how Sof was thinking that even if she loses her bakery tomorrow, she’ll be the happiest with Jake & J.J by her side and that right there is love & happiness in it’s purest form. Love this story. This was such a good read; it wasn’t rushed and it was written so well ♥️
A romance with a enemies to friends to lovers type deal. Some of the arguements I seriously wanted to smack someone mainly the main woman Sofia for being dumb to poor Jake. But all in all I did like the book. Would definitely read again if asked. Sofia has been a love sick puppy to her brother's friend Jake. One night on her birthday she gets her wish, but it didn't turn out like she wanted it too. Now years down the road she runs into once more. Only this time besides they have both grown up. He has a crazy insanely good deal that will help both of them get what they want...only is it to good to be true?
Sweet! I've volunteered to review this book for the author. This is Jake and Sofia story. Sofia is a pastry chef, who is celebrating her 21st birthday. During her party everyone is there including her brothers best friend and her secret crush, Jake. Their bantering was sexy. It was sweet funny and romantic. These two are perfect for one another and neither will admit how they feel. This story is a standalone. You WILL have to get this one. I couldn’t put this book down until I finished it. Keep up the amazing work!
Sofia wanted her brother’s best friend to be her first so she seduced him. Jake was working hard and focused on his career in New York. When Sofia sees another woman at his apartment, her heart is broken and she moves on. Five years later she runs into Jake and he has an offer for her to get the bakery she has always wanted. A fake marriage, what will happen when she falls for him again? Fast-paced, emotional with plenty of drama. I really liked it.
This was a great story and was very entertaining. Once I started I could not put it down. The chemistry between the hero and heroine is sizzling hot. I would recommend this to anyone that loves a great love story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a good read. Jake and Sophia have known each other a long time. He is friends with her older brother. she has always been in love with Jake. They fooled a round once but then they didn't see or talk again. Years later they reconnect while she pretends to be his wife. Of course by the end they are actually in love and get their HEA.
It his is one one my many favorite trope to read. Sophia was never afraid to go after what she wanted and that was Jake her brother's best friend. One night and she thought things would be different. Five years later and she ran into Jake again. Six months later could lead to forever.
I loved Jake and Sofia 's blooming love journey. This book took me on a ride of emotions I loved the characters and the chemistry between them and how they cared for each other. Will be reading more of this authors books
This story just didn’t hold my attention. I wasn’t super involved or liked the main characters! I finished just to finish. Free with K.U. Thank goodness!
Loved Jake & Sophie's story. Good characters. Lots of drama & emotions with this one. I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review for a copy of the book via booksprout.
Just Faking It by Katy Kaylee. Brother's Best Friend series, book 5. Audiobook review. Dual POV. This is an unrequited love, brother's best friend, second chance, secret marriage of convenience, and hidden pregnancy romance. It's listed as 8 hours 41 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 3 hours 28 minutes. Narrators Alex Kydd and Elizabeth Russell both read well, but their east coast accents were inconsistent and, at times, distracting. Content warnings: h's brother is a cheater; H father is a cheater; promotion/family manipulation.
Sofia Annabella Bellini (21, 26; aka Sof/Goddess) throws herself at Jake Michael Dunne (3 years older than Sofia) the night of her 21st birthday. Jake didn't know she was a v¡rg¡n, and seemed to instantly regret being intimate with his best friend's younger sister. Sofia wanted more with him, so she went to see him at his apartment. She was upset when an attractive woman opened the door and left broken hearted when Jake was confused by her surprise pop-in. Five years later, Jake is a lawyer desperate to make partner, and Sofia is a pastry chef at a hotel dreaming of owning her own bakery. Jake learns that the primary reason he isn't being offered a partnership is because the other partners think he's not settled enough since he's still single. Sofia goes to a party with her friend where she sees Jake again. Jake contacts Sofia and offers to fund her bakery if she marries him for 6 months so he can make partner. His mentor and one of the partners throws them a wedding. Neither Jake nor Sofia tell their family's since their marriage is transactional. Everything works out as planned until Sofia's pregnancy test is positive. She wants Jake to ask her to stay married because he loves her, not because she's pregnant. Sadly, he is too scarred by his father's infidelity to tell Sofia how he feels. She moves out. Her brother visits her, finds ultrasound pictures, realizes Jake is the father, goes to Jake's office, confronts him and outs Sofia's pregnancy. Of course, Jake is shocked and hurt so he goes to Sofia to find out if it's true. Sofia confirms him that she is pregnant but Jake won't listen to her explanation. In the end, Jake solidifies his partnership role, increases the value of the firm's culture with child care and work from home options, they're still married, their son is 1 year old, and her brother's marriage and life are back on the right track. This is steamy, sweet and entertaining. After taking Sofia's virginity, Jake goes back to his life. Sofia goes to him for more, but he shoots her down. But when Jake needs a fake wife, he calls Sofia. She's hoping he'll fall in love with her, but at the end of the contract she has to go home. She isn't alone when she goes home, and she wants Jake to want her back before she tells him. Sofia's brother doesn't give him a chance though, and Jake thinks a new contract is the way to go. Jake is determined and charming, Sofia is sweet and romantic. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.
I started in the middle of the series because I love the surprise pregnancy/baby trope... but we didn't learn of her pregnancy until the end, so while it was in the synopsis...it had a small part. I also didn't love the writing style or plot, but in fairness... I've read this directly after finishing one of those 100-star books that will stay with me forever... I didn't like how Jake and Sofia couldn't have a conversation about their feelings or how he acted when he found out her secret from her brother.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Oh what a brilliant story. Sophia and her brothers best friend, Jake Dunne strike up the perfect deal, or is it.... she wants a bakery and he wants to be. partner at work. All they need to do is get married. Simple right!!! Wrong. What they didn’t see is Love plays an important role and they can’t admit to one another. Great characters, great plot and the best bit ever....a baby. Loved this series, needed more.
How could two people in love be so crazy. Jake and Sofia have loved each other forever, but took so long to admit it. She enjoyed being with him so much but still ended up moving out even though she wanted to stay.
