He’s the king of the freestyle world. The hottest, hell-raising guy to ever throw a leg over a dirt bike… and I was his before I was old enough to realize what it meant to be tied to a guy like Roan Sawyer.
He protected me and saved me, only to turn me away when I wanted him the most.
Behind the helmet, he’s gorgeous, rugged, obsessive, and a liar. Now his reckless ways have me questioning everything I thought I knew about him and my family. And here I am, trying to move on with my life, but he won’t let me.
Consumed by a haunting ache only he provides, I want him, even though I hate him. Our love is wide-open, full-throttle, red-lined ’til the very end.
They say behind every king is a queen who he will do anything for. This queen… she’s innocent, sweet, and I’m nothing she needs. Everything I know about Ophelia Hadley is a lie I fed to keep her mine, only to be betrayed and deceived.
She deserves stability, and me, well, I’m not that. I can’t promise her tomorrow. She knows that, but it doesn’t stop me from taking back what’s mine.
Even if it means destroying everything I’ve worked for in the process.

Roan and Ophelia have known each other forever. They are really destined to be together but you have to get through the ugly sometimes to get to the pretty. The effects of a indirect lie can change the path of destiny. Roan has always wanted Ophelia but while it was about to happen, something happens and it literally changes their way. Ophelia is desperate, going through emotions, not sure of anything, and really truly hurts Roan. I felt so much for Roan as I read through their story. But is it fixable? Is their love worth it in the long run, or do they just get over it and move on? She does, and is engaged to someone who is the opposite of Roan. That sets waves to him desperately wanting to change her mind in walking down the aisle with the wrong man.
I liked seeing all the Sawyer brothers, little Camden, the kiddos, the significant others in the story. These two deserved to be together and I was rooting for them all the way through. While some parts were frustrating, which comes with their journey, it was definitely a good read for me. I'm so glad I binged all three Sawyer brothers together!
What can I say about this book? Ophelia and Roan are everything. Shey Stahl never disappoints. I continue to feel cold in my belly and delicious chest pains that make my heart knot. I love her books. Roan is the brother Sawyer I liked the most, although Shade is one of my favorites too. . . But roan exceeded all my expectations 👏
The story of Roan and Ophelia is not a romance of hearts and flowers, although it touched my heart indelibly. Their story is honest, it is exciting and it is one that left my emotions reeling. I constantly alternated between anger, sadness, exasperation, hope, joy, love, confusion. It was a roller coaster ride and I enjoyed every second.
I have been waiting to get my hands on the final Sawyer brother FOREVER and Shey Stahl did not disappoint.
I didn’t think it was possible to love a Sawyer brother more than Shade... then there was Tiller, but OMFG Roan Blew. Me. Away! Shey Stahl makes you experience these crazy emotions as if you were the person getting your heart ripped in half and then put back together instead of simply reading an incredible story. The men are so damaged and yet you root for them to be better and to get the girl. The girl, Ophelia, is already so broken, but yet so much stronger than she realizes. The book is so steamy, and shows love on so many levels. I always enjoy seeing the crazy love between family members as much as the love of a couple. The love these crazy brothers have is so strong and so volatile that it could be it’s own character ~ it makes you desperately want to be a part of their inner circle and it’s so much fun to read. I couldn’t have possibly loved this book more!
There are some scenes with Roan and Tiller together that I absolutely adored, especially when Tiller is just being Tiller, “to be fair,” Tiller begins, “you told him to stay home. So really, I shouldn’t be in trouble.” She knocks him upside the head..." Roan isn't a basjful man, nor is he a happy man when his sleep is disrupted, "after five minutes of knocking, Roan finally opens his door, half-asleep, naked, and growls, “What?” with his eyes closed." I liked this book, I loved Roan, I loved seeing everyone together.
oh boy... I love Shey Stahl's books, I love the unique interaction she has with the reader, you have a feeling she's talking directly to you, through her characters...it always holds my attention...and I feel so very much involved...it's an experience on its own.
But my God, I was aggravated by the heroine...urgh... But that's on me totally... And rarely I get all territorial about a character, BUT Roan, man...you got my attention
If you want a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes you laugh and cry this is your book. This book is about two people who are stubborn and to see who can make each other hurt the most. Shey brings the characters to life and you feel like your right there in there drama and love. You will cry and want to slap Roan up side the head but you will also fall in love with him. It’s an awesome story about 2 lovers who try to get there shit together. I highly recommend this book you won’t be disappointed 5 stars
“Do you see that guy with the bottle of Fireball in his hand? He’s holding on by a thread. That guy, burning a hole in the girl with his stare, he’s in a living hell because he can’t get past this kind of betrayal “... Ladies hold on to your hearts!
By far the best book for me about the Sawyers brothers, sorry Shade, for me personally. I felt more connected to Roan and his almost “unhealthy “ relationship with Ophelia. Ophelia is wise beyond her years and knows what she wants but Roan can’t seem to give her that because in his mind she need to grow and find herself but her way of doing it breaks him. I literally cried!! Roan’s anguish over his secrets to protect his friends and loving so deeply led him on a path of destruction. But what I loved the most was that Ophelia took the rejection and hard words he threw at her and grew up. Moved on. Found her worth so to speak. And I got that feeling Roan had to take that time and see her as an adult and not a teenager girl. Shey Stahl has the ability to literally put you in that room. Or in that picture and feel the intense anger, love, rejection or all out despair. And happiness too! As a reader I couldn’t put the book down on the last 10 chapters. Just absolutely enthralled with this book! Like Roan said “this isn’t a timeless romance. It’s a GD tragedy”.
If you’re after a story about love which isn’t a love story then look no further.
We’re back in the world of the freestyle, motorcross riding Sawyer brothers, Roan, Tiller and Shade, the books focus is on Roan in specific although we do get to witness the enforced camaraderie of these three adrenaline seeking brothers.
The love between Roan and Ophelia is there for all to see, the pair even see it themselves however they’re both too stubborn and up hurting one another and themselves in the process. Their feelings towards one another go way back to their younger years, soulmates is what they are, and despite their unconventional relationship their love was and has always been deep-seated, there’s one incident that sets the course of that love on the wrong track and this story tells us readers the journey Roan and Ophelia take on their way to getting back on the right tracks.
Another thrilling five star read from my 2019 Queen of angst filled, heart wrenching stories of true love, gritty bits and all. Absolutely fabulous I knew Roan’s story was going to be worth the wait it took for him to voice it to Ms Shahl but damn she dropped the mic....🎤
After I finished Tiller's book, I couldn't wait for Roan's story and I'm happy to say, this was worth the wait! If you've read the previous books in this series you know quite a bit about the Sawyer brothers and how they grew up with very little rules or supervision but what surprised me was Roan's good intentions that somehow went horribly wrong. Oh boy, did these two really mess each other up, I honestly wasn't sure if their relationship was gonna survive the destruction. And if I'm honest, Ophelia really didn't do herself or Roan any favors by reacting to what she perceived as an admission of guilt. But to be fair, she's so young when everything begins and doesn't know much about herself let alone how to navigate a relationship. As the story unfolds, these two are so drawn to each other but continue to hurt each other, it's just heartbreaking, until Roan pretty much decides he's had enough and makes a grand gesture that of course hurts Ophelia. But that's when these two actually get real with each other and figure out what happens next. I enjoyed this story and loved how the story revolves around the brothers and the families they built. I'm looking forward to Cam-Man's book.
Wow! This Author continues to amaze me with her works of art. I continually had to make myself slow down so so the book wouldn't be finished too soon. I loved every thing about Roan and Ophelia. There was so much chemistry between the two characters and I loved seeing the quiet Roan come alive.
Roan has always loved Ophelia but wanted her to have the chance to grow and become a woman before becoming his in every way. Ophelia just wanted to be Roans. Tiller is Tiller. Shade is Shade. We get to revisit all of our favorite characters and see them grow as families and find hope for new books.
I don't know where the inspiration for the Sawyer brothers came from, but I am thankful to have read their stories. I love everything about them, but absolutely adore Roan. Roan is strong, resilient, and in love. I loved Ophelia and how she knew from a young age what she wanted and went after it. The story broke by heart and put it back together multiple times and i loved every second of it. I don't re-read books very often but I will definitely be doing a re-read of Roan and Ophelia in the near future.
Fans of Shey's first two books about the Sawyer brothers Shade & Tiller have been waiting for Roan's story and you will not be disappointed. Roan and Ophelia's story is addictive, I could not put it down I found myself staying up way to late saying just one more page which turned into one more chapter and so on. You will laugh out loud, scream at these crazy characters and cry right along with them. I love how Shey gave us little updates and included our favorite motocross badboys from the first two books. It was awesome seeing what was going on in their lives as well. There are times you will want to reach right through the book and smack Roan upside his head and other times you will be swooning all over him. Their story shows you that you can't help who you fall in love with and there are bumps in the track on your road to happily ever after. You will watch these two grow up from childhood friends to adults and lovers. You will feel their heartache and their victories. Even know we have heard their stories now hopefully it will not be the end and we can get more updates and stories from them.
Thanks for fueling my addiction to the Sawyer boys!
My want, my need, my addiction to know more about Roan Sawyer started when I was hanging out with his brothers. Shade a sunglasses wearing innovator and legend in the world of freestyle motocross and Tiller a crazy don't mess with me hey lets celebrate I didn't die freestyle superstar, both of who I met hanging out with Scarlet, Shade's girl who is my hair twin at least in frizz factor anyway. All 3 hot badass tattooed Sawyer brothers have this draw that pulls you in, demands your attention . But with Roan it was more, he kept more to himself he was driven and dominated all aspects of the world of motocross. He also had an addiction, Ophelia Hadley who he watched grow up, the daughter of Shades head of security Carl. The connection between these two is hot and volatile, it's undeniable! Fame, youth, love, lies, anger, stupidity and family all compete with this connection and put it to the test. As with your other stories Shey Stahl there is a realness to them that is incredible, the characters aren't too nice, they have faults, they're not perfect, as are the situations they find themselves in. They have to work for it, everything doesn't just land in their laps and everything isn't always sunshine and roses. This Story, these characters, they are your holeshot!!! Thanks for fueling my addiction to the Sawyer boys!
Oh where to start with this one.....Shey is my favorite author. She’s always been able to draw me in and keep me on edge. This book is my most favorite (besides the Racing on the Edge series). I have been wanting Ronan’s story forever. Something about him intrigued me and made me love him in Shade and Tiller and this book only made me love him more. Ophelia and Roan are two stubborn people not just finding love but feeling it, fighting for it, and holding on through all off the chaos that surrounds the Sawyer brothers. But I have to admit, I gave Roan a lot more leniency than I did Ophelia which isn’t my norm, but like I said, I’ve just felt drawn to Roan ;-)
The thing about She’s books that I love is that she gives you every ounce of the character’s souls. She goes the extra mile to give you everything you want. She doesn’t just do a “happily ever after” that leave you wondering and wanting after the last word. You will finish this book with a feeling of content that only Shey can give you. Don’t pass this one by!
Once more Shey has done it. I personally think she is the best. They way she makes you feel like you part of the book. I love how the boy\men have grown both in age and actions but have matured mentally but not so much as they let life drag them down. The fight and love and are there for there families regardless the situation. They do blackflips during weddings they flip down in the middle of Christmas dinner but they always have each other's back they may not always like it each but the love each other. I love how Roan has been in Opelhias life always and has been in love with her but letting her grow to know herself and still be there waiting and watching.. I can't say enough about this book or any of the others. Just dive in and become one of the family learn to love laugh and cuss at the wtf moments. and I guarantee you will be book to any book Shey writes as she puts her heart and soul in them..
I just loved Roan and couldn’t get enough of it! This book is definitely one of my favorites of 2019. Finally got to see Roan and Ophelia’s very complicated but intense relationship. Loved Roan’s bad boy arrogance and Ophelia’s sassiness! You can certainly feel the love but at times be frustrated with decisions that each of them made that tested the undeniable bond they shared since the moment they met. They challenged one another but at the same time had to overcome hurdles to come out the other side to finally have their HEA. I was enjoying every single page! Getting immersed once again in the Sawyer brothers’ world with those they loved and considered their extended family brought plenty of laughs, tears, and heart melting memories I will never forget. Thank you for another unforgettable reading experience, Shey Stahl!
This is the story of Roan and Ophelia. It almost reads like a dirty Shakespearean tragedy.
Ophelia has been in love with Roan since she was 12. Yet after one drunken night and a huge mistake on her part...their lives are changed.
Roan is an unforgiving bastard. But he loves Ophelia with everything in him all the while pushing her away.
This story is heartbreaking, raw, and sexy. You'll also find that as in every Shey Stahl book you're going to laugh out loud. Because don't forget you have Roan's brothers Shade and Tiller....who are just as lovingly screwed up as he is.
This family will grow on you and you'll want more. I loved every bit of this book. I lived the words as I read them. 5 stars all the way!
I probably have a special place for the Sawyer brothers since Shade was my first introduction to Ms. Stahl’s writing. Since reading both Shade and Tiller, I’ve been beyond curious to get more insight into Roan and Ophelia’s relationship. Even though Tiller will forever be my favorite Sawyer brother, Roan comes in a close second. Roan is more like Tiller in not thinking things fully through before acting, especially where emotions are concerned. I really like that Ms. Stahl wrote Ophelia to be evolving through a less-than-perfect past. The emotions she feels and situations she finds herself in are relatable. I mean who hasn’t settled for less because they don’t think what they want is truly within reach or what they want and what they need are very different things? This was an excellent conclusion to the Sawyer brothers saga. While I am sad to say goodbye to my favorite FMX crew, I am looking forward to seeing who Ms. Stahl writes about next— perhaps a spinoff or two of support characters from this series (please!)?
Let me start by saying that I’m a huge Tiller fan and wasn’t really looking forward to a book about someone who hates him so much. Sure, Tiller’s a dick but he’s....Tiller!!!
Anyway...I’ll read anything Shey writes because it’s obviously going to be amazing so I went into this booking excited for a new read from her but not sure how I was going to feel about Roan.
No regrets! Regardless of how you (I) FELT about Roan before, this book makes you see him in a whole new light and makes you fall in love with him! There were so many times where I was scared I was at the end but just wanted more and Shey kept delivering!
Not only am I a Roan fan now, the way she gives you a “where are they now” at the end is amazing!
"Like a watermark stained on paper, I can't remove the memory of him"
This book ya'll... so much angsty goodness, laughter, ups and downs & one heck of a journey to forever; I could not put this book down! Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect from Ophelia and Roan but man these two were 🔥🔥🔥. Their story spans years...full of heartbreak, secrets and lies and well Tiller; and I cannot say enough how absolutely wonderful this book is.
Real talk...I wasn't ready for Roan to end and I certainly am not ready for this series to be over either (I'm so excited for Cam's book)...Shade started my Shey Stahl obsession and this series will forever be one of my favorites. 💛
If you've read Shey Stahl in the past you definitely don't be disappointed with Roan. I've read Shade and Tiller, and have been waiting for Roan forever. Roan is the oldest of the three sexy Sawyer brother's. All of them are professional motocross athletes and compete in different events. This books introduces Roan competing in the sport of Enduro racing including the Baja 1000 and the Erzsburgh Rodeo two of the toughest, meanest motorcycle races in the world. We also get to know more about Ophelia and Roans love for her. We get to know their story. Such an amazing book for a person like me who loves racing and romance!
Wow so I'm still realing from this one!! We have waited for the king Sawyer brother and boy he sure didnt disappoint at all 😍 "One is a choice the other isn't" O and Roan didnt have a choice it just was. The journey these two took us on was heartbreaking, amazing and maddening all at once. But hey we wouldnt expect anything different from a Sawyer.. Things are never easy 😘 I definitely loved every page of this book just as I did with Shade and Tiller! Love these guys! Take the journey tou wont be disappointed!! 🖤
The final Sawyer brother finally gets his HEA. He has felt a pull to Ophelia since she was 5 and he was 10. What started off more brother and sister has changed but the cost of fame has gotten in the way that and the fact that Roan is a incredibly loyal person. Keeping a secret that causes deep fissures in their budding relationship causing the two to continually do their best to hurt each other. Luckily Roan refuses to give up on Ophelia so they get their HEA too.
This book was once again a reason why Shey is my favorite author. Her style of writing always sucks you right in. You met Roan in Shade but it did not prepare me for what was to come in his own book! I never really thought Roan and O were going to have a happily ever, but I seriously wanted to smack both of them in the face so many times 😂. I feel like I could reread it a million times and still not get tired of it! Thank you for always bringing your A game shey! Would recommend to everyone, no matter the genre you like! 10+ lovely stars!
What can I say here that I haven't said before? Shey Stahl's unique way of spinning words in to soul tugging story truly speaks of her skill level. I absolutely love the way she makes the story alive for you. If you want a book that speaks to you in all the ways, the good, the bad, the ugly, you can't go wrong. Roan ahh Roan is everything and more. I know it's a standalone and can be read that way and enjoyed but to get the whole feel of Roan I highly recommend you read Shade and Tiller first. I'll finish this with I LOVE the Sawyer Brothers!!
Friends since they were children, sibling like relationship turned to love and passion. The story of their relationship pulls you in from the very beginning and feels so real through all the "stages". They almost lost it all because of fame, hurt, betrayal and secrets. They love each other deeply and have that forever type of love but it is a rocky road while they mature and really figure it out.
Shey is an awesome author and all of her books just pull you in and make you feel like you are a part of them and right there. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Roan was an absolute rollercoaster ride! I loved this book so much. I love the bad boys and the ladies that brought the brothers to their knees. Roan was fun, and it was never a dull moment in the Sawyer house. I enjoyed how Roan was updated throughout the book for Shade and Tiller so that it could be a standalone., but I definitely recommend reading all 3 Sawyer brother books and in order. I hope to see a Cam and River book with all character updates maybe in the future.
Loved this book. Shey out did herself yet again With roan. Each book shey writes I love. I devoured this book in one sitting. I loved the Sawyer brothers before. I'm glad we got roan story. Roan is a dirt bike driver as hidden feeling for ophelia. Ophelia did something she shouldn't have done. This book as all the feels you could feel in this book and the journey shey takes you on was beautiful. I recommend this book you wont be disappointed
Yet again you nailed it. Loved this book from start to finish. I loved shade and then I loved tiller and now I love Roan. My only request would be a small novella for Tiller. We were able to see Shade become a dad but I would have loved to watch Tiller become one again. We know that he has a new baby but we didn’t get a very detailed storyline about it. Tiller will always be my favourite brother but Roan is now my second.

Deep love sometimes really takes time and sometime misunderstandings happen. Roan and Ophelia really have a deep love and passion together, but will they ever get it together? That is the question. Their story takes a journey through heartache and young love to an adult relationship. In addition, Shey gives the reader glimpse and update of all the characters. Roan is still wild and carefree but taming this bad boy is more of a challenge.
