Hard, Fast & Forever #2

Hard Ass in Love

Rate this book
Nicole is without a doubt the oddest creature I’ve ever met.

As far as therapists go, she’s pretty damn good, even though her methods are way the hell out there. And while she’s been using my climbing gym for her afterschool sessions for years now, lately, I’ve been having a tough time getting her out of my head. But, there’s a reason I’ve stayed unwaveringly single while raising my kid for the last decade, and the last thing I need is to have my world turned upside down by this sexy little smarty with her bleeding heart and her uncanny ability to push all my buttons.

So, when the maddeningly persuasive woman manages to somehow goad me into an admittedly entertaining challenge, obviously, I know I should just walk away...

But I don’t.

* * * * *

Logan is without a doubt the most fascinating man I’ve ever met.

As far as billionaires go, he’s hardly typical. He’s practically allergic to the indoors, stubborn to the extreme, and an absolute teddy bear—of the burly, overprotective variety—when it comes to his daughter. I’m well aware that he thinks I’m a bit of a weirdo. And frankly, I’m good with that status quo, especially given our history. The last thing I need is to develop an ill-advised crush on the gorgeous workaholic with his quietly intense charm and his strange ability to make the air seem thinner.

So, when the unfairly distracting man manages to Jedi-mind-trick me into letting him set the stakes for our fun little challenge, obviously, I know I should just walk away...

But I don’t.

NOTE: This high-heat, low-drama standalone is a hot & swoony rom-com chock-full of fast, feel-good fun. Contents include: One blunt, brawny single dad who’s going a little crazy. One quirky, head-shrinking heroine who’s largely to blame. Lots of schmexy good times and steamy romance throughout. And of course, a sweet, melty HEA. No cheating. No angst. No stress. No cliffhanger. Enjoy!

Sasha Burke has been reading romances ever since she discovered her local library would let her borrow whatever kind of books she wanted…probably far younger than she should’ve started. Possessive and protective alpha heroes have long been Sasha’s biggest weakness. Reading and writing about them, especially when there’s a feisty heroine involved, has resulted in her staying up many a night over the years. When she's not playing with all the words, you’ll usually find Sasha out and about spoiling her many dogs or hosting outdoor fajita nights for her friends as often as she can.

This is book two in the Hard, Fast & Forever series by Sasha Burke. Just like the first book, this one was just so enjoyable. Very little angst and lots of heat. And of course, one sexy, swoony, all alpha billionaire!

Logan Reynolds made his billions early. He is also a single father to his nine year old daughter, Hannah. Raising his little girl is and always will be his first priority. He loves being her dad. Logan always loved climbing so starting an indoor rock climbing franchise was a dream come true. Except that he spent most of his time in the office instead of climbing.

“Aside from climbing, being a parent is the only other thing I felt born to do.”

Nicole is a therapist but she prefers a climbing gym instead of an office for her therapy. Unusual but also very effective. She started coming to Logan’s gym about five years ago. All these years, they have kept their relationship cordial at first, then friendly. But they both have harbored more than friendly feelings toward each other, keeping them hidden. Those feelings have gotten stronger and when Nicole challenges Logan to a little climbing competition, their relationship suddenly becomes more than just friends.

These two were just so cute! Logan wanted Nicole close and would do whatever necessary to keep her there. I am so enjoying this series and can’t wait to start the third book where we will meet Cade, a sexy rancher.

This is the first time I've read Sasha Burke and I fell head over heels for her writing. I loved every minute of this book/novella. The characters, the not insta-insta love, the climbing, the push and pull. I loved it all.

So, Logan is sexy, rich, and a single dad. I love a single dad romance. I love one even more when he's the perfect dad ever.

Nicole is feisty, strong, independent, and all the things I wan't to be when I grow up. And she has caught Logan's attention.

The push and pull, the chemistry, the background, it all works.

I can't wait to read more by this author. This was the perfect. light read while between heavy, angsty books.

This was a great book that I didn't want to put down. I was hooked right from the beginning. I loved all the characters in this one. Nicole and Logan had a ton of chemistry. Their banter is one of my favorite parts of the book. Things get very steamy between the two. You might need to fan yourself while reading. The connection they have makes those steamy moments special. I like a single dad romance so this one is right up my alley. Seeing what a great dad Logan is warmed my heart. A must read that I highly recommend.

Work Me Up by Sasha Burke is a fun, quick and sexy read about a stubborn and very handsome single dad and a feisty and strong-willed therapist!

Logan lost his wife when their daughter was born. From that day forward he was determined to be the best dad possible and put her first. She was the only female he needed in his life. So for the past nine years he has only allowed himself one-night stands. This suited him fine, until the very feisty and determined therapist who uses his gym for her therapy sessions worms her way into his life.

Nicole has been using Logan’s gym for the last five years as part of her method to helping kids and young adults. When she finds out Hannah, Logan’s daughter, needs her help, she butts her way in until he agrees to let her spend some time with her. What she did not expect was the way Logan worms his way into her life as well.

I loved Logan and Nicole. I loved their banter and chemistry. They have history and though they have danced around each other for years; things are finally coming to a head! Hannah needs Nicole’s help and the more time she spends with Logan and Nicole, the more things seems to just fit. But can a woman who has never known love realize what is in front of her and can a man who has denied himself for so long finally be open for more?

Work Me Up was a quick and steamy romance with lots of chemistry; it was also a sweet story. You can read this in one sitting and be left feeling happy and content. Logan and Nicole have lots of chemistry and you can see it build throughout the story. I loved Hannah and Logan’s parents as well. A great story with a great cast of characters.

Work Me Up as a title doesn’t work for this book.

Hard Ass In Love - not sure that works either.

Setting aside title gripes, it is actually a really lovely read. Logan, single dad, billionaire (you could lose the billionaire for me. It plays no part in the book. It’s irrelevant), climbs walls. Like really climbs walls. I’m afraid of heights but if it meant looking at his butt, I’d watch him climb. I’d hold the rope - is that a euphemism?

Along comes Nicole. Psychotherapist. Wall climber. Child whisperer.

I loved the dynamic between Logan and Nicole. Single dad swoons!

Quick read, done in a day. It was sweet.

Logan is the most adorable jerk I've come across. His attitude is acerbic at the best of times, but when he puts his mind to it, he's a walking temptation. The fact that he's a single father just amps up his hot factor. The big, bad grouch has hands off written all over his heart, until a quirky bundle of fierceness plows her way through. Sasha Burke puts her heart in the saucy tale of sensuality. Hard Ass In Love is a walk on the wild side that ends up being the sweetest sin.

I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars, but since the bedroom scenes were so hot, I'm going with the 4 stars. On the negative side, the characters aren't really all that well developed and there are too many instances of just when you think something good is happening, we shoot forward a couple of weeks and it's discussed in the past sense. That's disappointing for a reader that likes to live in the moment, even if it's vicariously through fictional characters. All in all an enjoyable, light read.

Work Me Up: A Sexy Single Dad Romance by Sasha Burke is a great read. This is a fun and sexy short read. Well written, has a engaging storyline and likable characters. Witty banter and a scene stealing child will have you laughing out loud. A highly entertaining quick read. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.

So you guys know me I am always on the hunt for a new to me spectacular author! My newest find is the amazing Sasha Burke! First of all I thought the cover to this one was so eye catching! Then I read the blurb. . . I was all "ooooo! I need to make room on my TBR for this one!"

With this one you may think you've read every kind of billionaire kind of hero! But I assure you Logan was such a refreshing change from most of the other billionaire crowd. Yes, he may have oodles of money, but I love that Sasha didn't make that a huge character point. He was a character that is worth so much more than his bank account! And while he goes all alpha and protective he's not an ass about it (HUGE CHANGE FROM MOST BILLIONAIRE ROMANCE HEROES! At least the ones I've read) because of this it definitely changed my perception of the other heroes, I don't like when the guy thinks that just because he has more money than sense that makes him God. I have avoided this trope for so long for this reason! So kudos to Sasha for getting me to pick up one haha.

Nicole was such a strong, take no prisoners kind of character and I loved the unexpected plot twist (you'll know it when you get to it!) but it totally surprised me and added a little something special to the story! I loved her and Logan's witty banter and how athletic she is, using a alternate therapy method was another unique quality that I really appreciated about her character!

Most people love the single Dad trope, and with all of the other elements it blends so well together! This was such a great read! So let's recap, great cover-- check! Unique characters--check! Cute storyline--check! And changed my entire perception on billionaire heroes? --double check! Or maybe it's just how Sasha writes them that makes me want to read more? I might have to experiment with that thought. . . But still I know Sasha is one to watch! I would highly recommend this read!

Work Me Up by Sasha Burke is a sassy, sexy , quick read about a stubborn , sexy single dad and a feisty and independent therapist! This is a single dad romance which I totally loved.
What you have is Logan who is a hunky, sexy, rich man who lost his wife when he lost his wife when she died giving birth to their child. He became a widower and a single dad at the same time. From that day forward, he was determined to be the best dad to their daughter which meant she came 1st. So for the past nine years he has only allowed himself one-night stands. Everything was fine until he met Nicole- the sassy and independent therapist who uses his gym for her therapy sessions. Something about her grabs him and keeps him wanting to know more even though he doesn’t understand why. She has him hooked…She has been breaking down walls he has built up and she slowly but surely has been doing this for 5 years until…
Nicole has been using Logan’s gym for the last five years as part of her method to helping kids and young adults. When she finds learns that Hannah, Logan’s daughter, has been bullied she offers to help her in an unofficial capacity, as more as a friend. What she did not expect was the way Logan worms his way into her life as well.
The heat level of this story is extremely high and the connection between Logan and Nicole is great. There is some previous connection related to Nicole and Logan’s deceased wife so look out for that. Logan and Nicole have this sexual connection, and want for one another that they have danced around for years until they finally broke down and started letting the other in. I also loved how Nicole really was there for Logan’s daughter and didn’t let Logan push her away, for there was some push/pull in their relationship. This story is really sweet and sexy. I enjoyed the ending so much.

This is a fantastic fun, sexy, quick read about a hot single dad and a feisty strong willed therapist. If you love the single dad genre like me then this is up your street.

Logan is a single dad. He lost his wife after a complication during childbirth and since then he is determined to be the best dad possible. Hannah will always come first and she is the only female he needs in his life. He doesn't have relationships just agreements for no commitments. This has worked well until Nicole came back into his life 5 years previously and is now succeeding in breaking down his walls and embedding herself in his life without even really trying.

Nicole has been using Logan's gym for her therapy sessions in helping kids and young adults. When she finds out Logan's daughter Hannah has been bullied she offers to help her in an unofficial capacity as a friend. She finally wears Logan down but she didn't expect to have Logan worming into her life too.

The banter between Nicole and Logan is brilliant, its hilarious watching this man spar verbally with Nicole. The chemistry between them is sizzling, even though it takes them along time to actually have sex, the sparks are well and truly flying with all the foreplay.

I devoured this in one sitting as I couldn't put it down, I could seriously have read more of Logan an Nicole. Sasha's writing is flawless in the brilliant spell she weaves of gripping you from beginning to end and making you love every word.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from the author

Star Rating: *****

Having discovered Sasha Burke only recently I was excited to read her latest book Work me up and boy was I not disappointed! Everything I loved about Sasha Burke’s writing style was repeated in Work me up, a hot sexy lead, an easy plot that was fast paced and enjoyable drawing you into the pages of the story. I was yet again hooked from the blurb, hot widowed single dad falls for his child’s therapist, who by a twist of fate knew his wife.Told in joint POV Work me up alternated chapters between our hot dad Logan and our quirky Therapist Nicole.

A quick read I don’t want to give away the plot let’s just say I loved it and leave it at that, instead I’ll concentrate on why I loved the characters. Even though a billionaire who looks like a model, is a successful business owner, has a young daughter whom he adores is not an everyday person you would meet on the street, he felt real, it didn’t feel like he came from the imagination of the author. Nicole was a quirky character and were as Logan felt like he could be someone you met in the street or whilst dropping off your own child at their school, I didn’t feel that was about Nicole but I loved her still, for her quirky ways, her independent nature the way she just got on with things. Once again a five star read, the ability to connect to the characters and the world they live in the reason I loved the story.

Logan can Work Me Up anytime he wants.

Sasha’s second book is even better than her debut. I loved how Logan and Nicole were portrayed, and Logan’s daughter Hannah was a delightful addition to the mix. There is a history to their story, but not in the usual way. Janine, Logan’s wife and Hannah best friend lost her life during an emergency C-section. Heartbroken by the news, Hannah had spoken out of turn and when Logan heard what she said, he cut all ties with her.
They met again accidentally at one of Logan’s mega successful indoor climbing gyms and renewed their friendship. A polite friendship. It isn’t until years later, when Nicole offers to help Hannah that Logan’s slow burning attraction finally surfaces and makes him open his eyes.
They both try to deny their feelings, but the longer Nicole spends time with Hannah and Logan, the more she falls under his spell.
Logan, was used to having one night stands, relationships weren’t on his radar anymore as he was focused solely on being the best dad possible to Hannah. But, Nicole is to hard to resist and eventually he gives in.
The heat level of this story is high, the sexy scenes filled with chemistry and emotions, but the actual story is really sweet and just left me feeling a sense of completion. Well done, once again, Sasha for a brilliant story.

Logan Reynolds is a single father and busy entrepreneur. After losing his wife and being the sole parent to his daughter, he hasn’t been interested in a relationship. Especially with Nicole around…

Nicole Shaw is a therapist who specializes in using rock climbing for her sessions. Seeing Logan and his daughter around and offering to help is the only way she sees herself being in their lives… maybe.

This was a good book. Full of steamy sex scenes and a sweet father/daughter relationship, this book was a quick and easy read. Logan is a rich and successful businessman, but his prime focus is on his daughter. When Nicole offers her brand of therapy after his daughter has an issue with bullying, he takes a bit to get on board. But seeing how Nicole genuinely cares for his daughter ramps up his feelings he was already harboring for Nicole.

What seems like an easy relationship has more layers and people involved to make the situation anything but uncomplicated…

I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Second book I’ve read by this amazing and talented author and I absolutely loved and enjoyed every minute of reading this story. Author does such a outstanding job with the characters in her books and it really shows in her stories. They make you go through your emotions and make you feel like your on the journey with them to their HEA. More like friends than characters in my opinion and Sasha Burke hits this straight on the head perfectly and beautifully. Another great storyline that really keeps you totally captivated the whole way through the story and has the right amount of chemistry for this storyline and really suits the characters down to the T. Really can’t wait to get my hands on the next book by Sasha as I absolutely do love both of her books and can’t get enough of them. Definitely must reads both books and real page turners too. Plus you could re-read this books again and again and still fall in love with them all over again. Well done Sasha Burke on both stories and I just wished I could give more than the 5 stars I have. I would totally recommend both this book and this talented author to everyone, go get your copies today.

This author just hooked me again! With her passion in writing, steamy stories and real emotions I just loved!

Since losing his wife, Logan committed to his only daughter and the reason of his life, to love her, to give her everything and to never have a space for another woman in his life. Not even if this woman was was getting under his skin.

Nicole learned that to get positive results you have to take great risks and confront your fears, to find a great love, to live and to treasure ever single moment with the people that love you and you love the most. But she didn’t know what to do with a handsome, sexy and stubborn single dad who was showing her that the line between them was getting blurred and they needed to take a step back.

Fire like they never felt and sparkles that it was there even if they dinner want to was brought them together. They could resist the touch, the kid nor the passion they have for each other.

I loved this author and I wanted to read more, her billionaires are so amazing and I want it more!

A DELIGHTFUL STORY!

This was such an entertaining engrossing story! I loved, loved, loved all the characters in it! They were interesting, quirky and real! It is such a romantic, sexy, sweet, and very cute book. It has a lot of humor and laugh out loud moments. The story line holds your attention because the story revolves around a very unusual location which in itself was very interesting to learn the ins and outs and backstory about! I also enjoyed reading all the wise advice that Nicole mentioned during the story..... There were some very profound pieces of wisdom that we all could learn from! All in all I enjoyed immensely this type of romance.... It was angst free and if there was a disagreement it was handled with finesse and the way most normal people in real life would handle it without chapter after chapter of negative drama. This technique enhanced the story tremendously and made it such a lovely romance, written beautifully, which kept a smile on your face throughout the whole book. Highly recommended! 😊

This author is new to me and I have to say I’m glad to have read her book. I really enjoyed it. It was a short, sweet and steamy read. The book was about finding love, pushing pass one’s fears and opening one’s heart to let love in.

Nicole is a sweet, caring, devoted and determined woman. She’s spends her days helping people build their self confidence and overcome their fears. Most people wouldn’t know it but Nicole has never known love in any form. Believing that she may never, Nicole finds it hard to believe that Logan might want something more than a one night stand with her.

Logan is a smart, charming, strong and very protective man. He is a single father that loves his daughter more than anything in the world. Guarding his heart and his daughter Logan never has any serious relationships. That is until Nicole walks in to his gym. She gets under his skin and has him questioning if she may be the one.
Is possible for them both to find love?

Work Me Up is a fast-paced, wonderfully written romance. The book is novella length, but there is so much emotion and fun packed into those pages. Logan is such an endearing character with his complete devotion to his daughter that you can't help but fall for him, and Nicole has plenty of sass and a call it as she sees it attitude that keeps Logan on his toes. They are so good together and the author does a fantastic job of conveying the sexual tension between them, even when they are squaring off in disagreement.
This second book by Burke is more on the sweeter side than the hilarity of her first book, but it is just as good and further shows her talent. Work Me Up is an engaging tale with the perfect mix of sweet and sexy, endearing characters, and witty dialogue. This author is fast becoming a favorite for this reader and I'll be anxiously awaiting whatever she has in store for us next.

Sadly disappointed. I greatly enjoyed the first book I'd read by this author and looked forward to this one. I could not stand the female protagonist. I had to force myself to finish the book, but so didn't want her to "get the guy", didn't feel like she deserved any happy ending. Found her to be outright annoying and so wrong, in so many ways. After I'd read, and thoroughly enjoyed the first book, I'd immediately bought this one and pre-ordered the next in the series as well. The third book keeps being delayed, not sure if it's being rewritten because this one was so disappointing. I still recommend the first in the series, even as I regret wasting my time and money on this one. The female is so awful, it actually made me angry that she ended up with the male lead, which considering this is only a book, is rather ridiculous, but there you have it. Had I not already pre-ordered the third book, I doubt I would purchase it.

“Contents include: a big, rugged single dad being driven crazy by a quirky, head-shrinking heroine, copious hot, dirty, descriptive sex, and a swoony instalove plot complete with a sweet HEA. No cheating, no cliffhanger.”

Ummm... sorry, just hold on ... still mush here.

Ok, wow. What a fun, sexy, hot, sweet, hot (yes, I know I wrote that one already, it bears repeating), romantic, heart-warming and (yes, another repeat) sexy book!

Nicole and Logan are such a perfect coupe, from the banter to the (can’t resist it) chemistry between them. This is a purely fun story. An easy plot, adding together sexy alpha billionaire dad plus adorable daughter plus sexy quirky school counselor “babe”. Stir together with a well done plot and strong writing. Result: yummy fun.

Definitely recommended.

Yessssss

I’m that’s what I’m talking about. I was somewhat critical of the first book in the series Bad Ass in Love. I was hoping that the heroine in Hard Ass in Love would be more relatable for to. Ms. Nicole did not disappoint. I adored everything about her. She was compassionate, tough and stood her ground about her convictions to help her clients. I have a degree in social work and psychology and I worked primarily with kids so I can totally relate to Nicole. As always Sasha’s heroes are hot sexy caring alphas and Logan was no different. I loved his unrelenting devotion to his daughter Hannah. This book is a great example of how not to give up in an author just because you didn’t like one of their books. I’m excited to read the third book in the series Gruff Ass in Love.

I received a copy of this book and I gladly leave my review.
I really loved this book and it’s the first one I’ve read of Sasha Burke’s and I’m a big fan for life. This book put me through so many emotions and I actually shed some tears. This book is about Logan who loses his wife through childbirth, he is a totally devoted to his daughter Hannah. Logan has no time for relationships but he doesn’t mind a one night stand every now and then. In walks Nicole a child therapist and she meets Hannah and tries to talk Logan into helping his daughter. Logan finally gives in to Nicole and sparks start to fly between the two of them. That’s all I’m going to give u, u need to get this book and find out why I can’t stop talking about it. I definitely recommend this book.
