Eden #1

Eden's Garden

Rate this book
My transient lifestyle as a government contractor makes it hard to have permanent relationships, especially when I prefer to spice my life up with BDSM. When my life-long friend, Rhett, introduces me to the local group, they welcome me with open arms...and a handful of women looking for a partner. There's shy Wynn, sassy Maya, Cami the Kitten, and playful Denisha.

As our lives become intertwined, like roses in a garden, I'm left wondering if I can live without any of them. Each beautiful, unique woman fills my heart with their own special addition to our group rainbow. But my contract here is temporary, and I don't know if I can handle the heartbreak of them fading out of my life, like everyone always does after I move.

When D. F. Krieger was banned from writing contests at her school, she immediately set it in her head that she would become a professional writer. Since then, she has thrown away her plans of world domination through books, but she still enjoys writing. Her tastes run from classy urban witches to dragons, space pirates to shape shifters. By the time she pens her final book with a hand ravaged by age, she hopes to introduce her readers to many alternate worlds, lines of thinking, and captivating characters.

You can find D. F. on the East Coast, hiding away from the real world with a gleam in her eye and a plot in her head. She resides with her husband, kids, and pets; who all kindly put up with her random bouts of laughter (over things she can't explain) and journal collecting fetish.

Well, this was certainly educational. I admittedly know very little about the BDSM scene, and even less about fetishes. This was my first exposure to Little, Pet Play and Brat kinks. I picked this up to read for the Polyamory category for the 2021 Sapphic Reading Challenge and decided to enjoy this book while at home today thinking it was going to be quite sexual in nature. I was stunned to find that there was very little actual sex in it. There was just one scene and it was quite tame. This was more about how a group of four women felt like they weren't accepted for their kinks by even those in the community and met a new domme who loved each of them for exactly who they were. As a result, they ended up becoming a family. For those not comfortable with BDSM (or polyamory for that matter) but are looking for a book for the challenge, this is a very safe one. I found it interesting and there's not much here to take people too far out of their comfort zones. This is the first of a series and I may or may not proceed further, though I did find some of the characters appealing enough that I'd like to know more about them. I found the book The Three by Meghan O'Brien to be much more about polyamory itself. This seemed more to be focused on humanizing those who practice fetishes. I always appreciate having my eyes opened to new things. 3.5 stars

The blurb to this book hooked me and pulled me in. Sadly, it didn't quite deliver. Or should I say, it was far different to what I expected. What did I an expect? An erotic novel with some intense scenes and polyamorous characters. Yes those elements are there, but considering at least two out of four of the characters don't want sex, the sex and BDSM is a very minor part of the story.

One could argue that's not the case as the character have kinks. There's a little and another character into pet play and dressing up as a maid - if you equate dominance and submission with trips to the mall, talks of Pokemon, a kitty sleeping on the end of your bed, and cutesy stuff like that, you'll get more out of this book than I did.

As for Maya, I've never come across such an arrogant, unlikable character in 'BDSM' book. I'm all for a bratty sub but telling her Dominant to 'Get F*&Ked" mid-sense, just no.

NOTE - This book is listed as 200+ pages, but it's a quick read with large line spacing.

EDIT - I also didn't appreciate the snide comments about wannabeBDSMers. As this book shows, it's not a one size fits all.

Oh my goddess. I have been craving a book like this since I started reading romance and BDSM stories. People aren't used to real life BDSM, and seem to think kink=erotica. It does not. This is some of the most wholesome, realistic, safe, consensual BDSM I have ever read. I knew I was going to enjoy this book when the first chapter mentioned going to a munch not some sex/kink club. And every interaction between Eden and her girls after that just reinforced that this book was written by someone actually familiar with the scene. And I love that more than just the traditionally portrayed sadist/masochist dynamics was represented in this book. So many people think spanking and similar is the only real BDSM, and those are the wannaBDSMers the author references early on. I loved to see Eden explore these very different dynamics and relationships. It was truly a pleasure to read. Thank you for this amazing book Ms. Krieger. I will most definitely continuing this series and then checking out her other BDSM wlw books.

Perfect beginning to a beautiful series

I have been waiting for this book for a while. The anticipation was not for nothing plus I found out it's not a stand alone by the end? Whoo hoo even better. This story is a genre that is very hard to find being an all female harem matter of fact this is my first and it's exactly what I've wanted since starting to read harem books. I really dont want to give anything away but each individual is struggling with their of disabilities or disabling problems that makes Eden a wonderful caregiver and they help Eden find the very thing she didnt know she was missing.

Sweet read

I am not going to lie, I had some reservations about this book. I am not into pet play at all. I am not against it being for people it was just never my thing, so I was a bit apprehensive about how heavy that would feature. Instead, what I read was an endearingly sweet book about women who maybe don't fit in their own but together form a dynamic and loving group. There was nothing overly done or warped for effect, and I am very glad I decided to give it a try. I will absolutely be reading the next ones.

Beautifully Sweet, Character-Driven Story

I usually gravitate toward PNR, fantasy and horror genres, while contemporary romance doesn't do much for me. But I loved Eden's Garden and its wonderful cast of unique characters, so much so, I couldn't put it down. The love and laughter are genuine and so, so touching. Definitely grabbing up the sequel right away to find out where these women go next!

Pleasantly surprised by this one

I was a bit hesitant to read this book since it involves a poly BDSM relationship between 5 women, but I really enjoyed it. I feel like this book may have opened up a whole new genre for me to enjoy. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I just can't get enough of this book, the characters, the story. I finished it without realizing, and now all I want is to read it again and again and stay inside it with all of them.
This is, more than anything, a story about finding your place, finding home and family. I'm gonna go read the sequels now.

Great read

Enjoyed this book and finished in one sitting. I found all the main characters likeable, and fleshed out enough that I cared what happened with them. Looking forward to the sequel!

Not my scene

This book was ok but afraid I found the polyamory relationship not to my taste and therefore could not relate. However the writing was good and the story followed.

Great read

Portrayed healthy polyamorous relationships that didn’t contain the focus on sex that a lot of other books do. I would recommend reading it.

Amazing journey into the heart.

Unexpectedly sweet and tender. This story is different than anything else I’ve read in this genre. It’s gentle, kind, tender and amazing. Whether it’s your thing or not, it’s not what you’re expecting, you’re sure to appreciate the sweet story of Eden tending her rose garden.
