Hitting My Head Against The Wall: Lemmy & Motörhead- The Early Years

Rate this book
I first met Lemmy when he was with Hawkwind and I was publishing Penetration Rock Magazine and consequently I was there when Motorhead were formed and I conducted their very first interview. That interview and others are included in this book as well as many never before seen photographs of the band.
Included are backstage anecdotes from Motorhead's early years when nobody wanted to know them, when people considered them to be a joke and they had to work hard to turn public opinion in their favor. Nobody knew back then that Lemmy would eventually go on to become a rock 'n' roll legend, as he once told me 'I'll just keep hitting my head against the wall until the wall falls down or my head splits open.'
This book tells the story of how the wall fell down and illustrates first hand the struggle Lemmy and the band had in toppling that wall.
A must for Motorhead fans both old and new the book is a tribute to Lemmy and Phil Taylor both sadly no longer with us.
'Hitting My Head against the Wall!' is both factual and funny and reveals a side of Lemmy which might surprise people.
Featuring interviews with Larry Wallis, Lucas Fox, Phil Taylor, Eddie Clarke, Dave Brock and Lemmy this is the book that every Motorhead fan needs to read.

I wasn't expecting much to be fair. If you're a huge Motörhead fan - and I am - then it's worth a read. There are a few interesting tit bits. It's a very cobbled together affair, padded out with very average photos.

I wanted this to be much better than it is. It’s quite a mess, and serves as a way to reprint the author’s “Penetration” interviews rather than give a coherent story. Pictures are quite silly, too… mine came with a postcard that looks like it’s either AI enhanced or retouched to oblivion.
