He didn’t believe in love at first sight… Until it happened to him.
Finn McCarthy, the youngest of the McCarthy cousins, is at a crossroads. As the lease on his Gansett Island rental comes to an end, he's making plans to return to his “real” life on the mainland. He’s enjoyed the nearly two years on Gansett with his boisterous fun-loving family, but it’s time to get back to the life he put on hold when he came to the island for his cousin’s wedding—and never left. With renovations to the Wayfarer, the family’s latest business endeavor, all but completed and the grand opening slated for Memorial Day weekend, the time is right to make a move. That is until he stops by the local salon for a quick trim that turns his life plan upside down...
Chloe Dennis, owner of the Curl Up and Dye Salon, is about to close the shop after another ordinary day when Finn McCarthy walks in and turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. Holy hotness! How has she never met the youngest of the McCarthys, and now that she has met him, why is it that she runs into him everywhere she goes?
Despite the undeniable sizzle of attraction between Finn and Chloe, she is dealing with life-changing news that makes her reluctant to get involved with anyone, let alone a man who plans to leave the island for good in two short weeks. Finn can’t understand why he reacts to Chloe the way he does or why she won’t give him a chance to see what they could be. When she makes it clear that it’s not going to happen between them, what else can he do but go forward with his plan to pack up and leave at the end of the month? Unless the push-pull of undeniable desire makes them forget the many reasons why this could be a bad idea...
Return to Gansett Island for another visit with all the series regulars and to find out if Finn and Chloe can overcome the obstacles that stand between them and the possibility of true love. Catch up with Mac, Maddie, Adam, Abby, Riley, Nikki, Blaine and Tiffany, attend Shane and Katie's wedding, and find out what happens when Blaine’s troubled brother Deacon comes to the island. I love this series, there have been a couple of hiccups along the way but with so many books I think it’s inevitable to come across the odd one that doesn’t quite hit the spot. And that was the case here as whilst I liked Finn and Chloe, and their story brings that true romantic escapism Marie Force creates with each couple’s journey, I did find their romance a little too insta and a little too perfect.
I’m crazy about you, and I have been from the second you smacked your head into mine.”
These books have been part of my life for five years and I hope they are for many more to come as, despite my odd grumble, they’ve been consistent in transporting me to my happy place and it‘s always a treat catching up with the rapidly growing McCarthy clan and their nearest and dearest. And having had a taster of who may well be next to fall under the romantic spell and charm of Gansett Island, I’m looking forward to seeing what 2019 will bring.
Auch dieser Band dieser Serie hat mich wieder in den Bann gezogen, jetzt fehlt mir nur noch ein Buch und dann habe ich diese Serie vorläufig beendet. Zumindest bis der nächste Band im Mai erscheint. 4,5 Sterne
Hubba hubba I really liked Chloe and Finn. Marie writes these series books so well. You can miss one or two but you don't want to have that happen as these island people become your island people. Lol.
I seldom leave reviews because, well, so many of my fellow authors write such fabulous books that I'd be spending all my time doing it. But once in a while a book comes along that just demands a review. Like YOURS AFTER DARK, which I spent Christmas night and this morning reading. Marie Force writes every book with an excellent command of language and a real understanding of emotion, but with YOURS AFTER DARK she has outdone herself. It isn't just the incredible romance between Chloe and Finn, although that just makes your heart thump. But Chloe has rheumatoid arthritis, which is a condition I myself battle daily. Some people write about diseases as if they read from a textbook. Marie Force wrote this with love, understanding and care, taking the time to personally research RA and learn the emotional fallout as well as the daily physical challenges. And Finn's reaction and response will just make you want to leap into the pages and hug him. I cried so hard with happiness at Chloe and Finn's story that I know I will read it again. It's rare for an author to handle a situation like this with such delicacy and understanding. If you don't read another book this holiday season, read YOURS AFTER DARK.
If you liked Riley and Nikki's story in Mine After Dark, you're going to be head-over-heels when you read his younger brother, Finn's story. And his leading lady will knock your socks off. From start to finish, it's not only fun to read, but carries a strong and heart-wrenching storyline with it. As always, you'll get the full package deal with all the feels, rip-roaring laughter, family interaction and, of course, all the sexy surprises that MF never fails to deliver when you board the ferry to Gansett Island.
One of the things I love about this authors writing is how she brings her characters to life how she makes me feel like I’m home visiting family and friends, this may be book 20 in the Gansett Island Series but that doesn’t mean this series is getting stale in fact I would go as far as to say for me this is one of the best stories in the series. Finn McCarthy is the youngest McCarthy cousins and his time on Gansett Island was always meant to be temporary and after spending two years on the Island he is desperate to get back to his real life on the mainland but that was before he spent time with Chole and the Island love bug struck again..... I read this book in one sitting I had to know the outcome I had to know why Chole couldn’t or wouldn’t commit to a relationship and I had to know the outcome for this loveable couple. I loved being back on Gansett and the banter the McCarthy’s their families and friends share never gets old once again I found myself giggling and smiling at the antics of residents. I love that Marie Force still manages to introduce new characters and new story lines so far into what is one of my favourite series and I can’t wait to see where we are taken next .
There’s always something fun about taking the ferry to Gansett, and this book was no exception. From the light hearted banter between the McCarthy siblings, to the sweet and sexy romance between Finn and Chloe, with the always welcome catch ups with the rest of the gang on the side, this was another clear winner. Roll on Gansett 21!
Surprisingly good since I thought Finn was such an immature douche in his brother Riley's book. Didn't think MF could redeem Finn's whiny ass, but I enjoyed this one. Always a good time on Gansett Island.
Love the inclusion of obstacles and issues not often- if ever- seen in romance. This continues to be my go to series for laughs and visits with ‘old friends’.
Incredible book. This series just gets better and better. Always looking forward to catching up with the mccarthys and I was not disappointed. Marie force has done it again
In the beginning of the book at didn't like Finn. Back home he has an on again currently off again girlfriend. The speak and text frequently. He planned on going home to see how things would go getting back together. Then he met Chloe. They had strong chemistry but still planned on going back home and to Missy, even as he got himself ready to go on a date taking Chloe to a family get together. Afterwards he decides to call Missy because he want to hang out with Chloe for the two weeks before his goes home. Of course Missy is pissed because she feels led on and insists that they aren't over. He sends Chloe flowers to her shop saying Thanks for being my two week girlfriend. That just rubbed me the wrong way. WTF. Still I am hoping this book turns around and makes me happy or I am going to be really mad about spending money on a book that pissed me off. After ping ponging back and forth about seeing each other and then they can't we finally know why Chloe doesn't want to get together with Finn and its pretty understandable. Just stop jerking his emotions around. We've also come to find out Missy is pretty much crazy and harassing Finn. Then I started feeling bad for Finn. He really did like Chloe and felt bad that she didn't at least explain to him why she thought they couldn't be together. She finally disclosed the problem an Finn set out to show that he is all in regardless. One other obstacle comes into place again from Chloe, is poor Finn going to get a break. They work it out and I really enjoyed the rest of the book. Reading back at my review I kind of laughed at myself. Maybe I am going through Christmas is over depression or something. The beginning did start off kind of bad for me but it did get better. I guess I was expecting a different sort of start to their story. I read reviews about how it was love at first sight and how awesome they were. It was a bit rocky, for both of them. Chloe has a lot to deal with other than her RA. I did like the last 25% of the book enough to almost forget how annoyed I was at the first 25% of the book. I would still recommend the book. It is safe in the both were single when they met, no cheating but Missy was a bit of a mess.

I was over the moon with excited anticipation awaiting the release of "Yours After Dark". Then when it was available to read on my Nook, I couldn't find the time to read. Several days came and went with me grabbing a moment for a few paragraphs, but nothing in depth. Why couldn't I find the time?
Little did I know that our dear Lillian, an elderly woman that we have looked after for years, would have a major stoke. So here I am, sitting next to her bed in hospice, thankful for this lovely read.
"Yours After Dark" has been my escape; each word cherished. I have laughed and cried my way through. The love for family and friends pours off each page. The challenges, joys, triumphs and celebrations warmed my heart. This huge extended family is so much fun to be a part of and I think I AM a part it! ;)
Finn and Chloe are my new fabulous favorites!
Thank you, Maries Force, for keeping this amazing series fresh and heartwarming with every single book!
More Shenanigans on Gansett Island More McCarthy's Lots more sexy times. Yours after Dark is Book 22 in this fabulous series from the highly talented Marie Force. This one follows the romance between Finn McCarthy (Cousin to Mac) and the beautiful Chloe. Finn is just about ready to leave Gansett Island and return to the mainland but finds himself at a bit of a crossroads when he sets eyes on Chloe and instantly falls hard. Chloe however, is reluctant to get involved with anyone including Finn as she knows he is leaving soon, but she also has personal issues she doesn't want burden him with and steers away from a forever relationship. With the usual lots of lovin, plenty of laughs, more betting, babies, pregnancies, engagements and the rest, this is definately a great addition to the series. We even get a little snippet of Mac & Maddie (my favourite), Blaine & Tiffany, Adam & Abby and Riley & Nikki. We also get to finally meet Owen & Katies's other siblings - yay more to come from Gansett Island. I love this series. I have kept up with every couple from the beginning and feel like I'm a part of the islandfolk. I can't wait to get back to Gansett Island in Book 23. Please don't keep us waiting too long Marie.
What a great way to say good bye to 2018. Although this is technically Finn and Chloe's story there is so much more going on. Escape into the pages and witness an engagement, a birth, pregnancies, and so much more. Go home to Gansett Island.
Finn is done with the island. After two years he is heading home to Connecticut and a maybe relationship with his old girlfriend. No one in his family wants him to leave. No one in his family wants him to return to Missy. After reading this book you won't either.
Chloe runs Curl Up and Dye. Off topic--freaking love the name of her hair salon. She is struggling after a diagnosis with an auto-immune disease, one I can totally identify with. She is afraid of the future. Her past haunts her.
A chance hair cut has Finn and Chloe bumping heads and not long after bumping others things. Her past is keeping her from moving forward. His past is trying to stop him from moving on. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions. The best decision for me was reading the book.
If I could move to Gansett Island I would do so immediately......the McCarthy clan are calling. Their everyday trials and tribulations leave you wanting more and more and as the extended family grows so does the population on the Island. I fell in love with them in Book 1 and here we are at Book 20. Do yourself a favor if you have been living on another planet and not heard of this series GET IT NOW! I can not recommend this highly enough I don’t write a synopsis, the author does it far better than I could, what I can do is suggest you read this series as soon as possible. Five Stars all the way !!!!!!
It was great to get an update of the Gansett and McCarthy family. Finn being the youngest of the second generation has lived with his father and brother since their mother left the family and they came to Gansett island. Now that his father is married, thus brother is in a relationship, Finn believe it’s time to go back to CT. But.... knocking into Chloe can change everything.
I love Marie Force writing style. I highly recommend any of her book series.
I love this series but I get tired of Mac and Maddie having almost as much story as the couple Ms. Force is writing about. There are other couples that could have updated storylines. But saying that this book offered so much more of all the couples besides Mac and Maddie. Please don’t take this wrong....I love Mac and Maddie too. I just would like to see updates on some of the other couples.
Absolutely a wonderful story! Definitely more than 5 stars. Another great book from Marie Force. The Gansett series is one that grabs you and keeps you wanting more. Her characters are interesting and make you feel like you truly know them. Marie Force's books bring real life situations into the story line. Another awesome story!
Finn-one cannot swoon enough over him; a god of a man. Where do these men come from?? This book had RA as the main character is diagnosed with & living with. Love at 1st sight for Finn & Chloe, she doesn’t do relationships or commitments. Crazy Missy-Finn’s psycho EX is involved also. We get to catch up with our favorite couples:MAC/Maddie Blaine/Tiff Adam/Abby & many others. Marie Force keeps her storyline’s REAL with everyday problems that people face. This is a must read & amazing once again. Brava Marie Force....
What can I say about this book? This is the first of the Gansett Island series that I have discovered and I am officially hooked!! The way that Marie Force describes the Island and the amazing people that live there makes you want to immediately move there! The love between Chloe and Finn is nothing short of electric! And the way that she explains the unexplainable ‘love at first sight’ feeling is perfect! I am immediately going to buy the other books in the series!
Even after 17 books, Marie Force still continues to amaze me with the wonderful world she has created in her Gansett Island series. Though you could read this book as a stand alone, I would highly recommend from the start because it has multiple storylines woven throughout the entire series weaved intricately into this amazing book. I absolutely love how Marie is able to continue these story lines throughout the series, yet tell a completely new story as well.
Marie writes about characters that are real. Finn and Chloe are no different. She is a genius at weaving humor, hardships, and combustible chemistry into the plot. She writes in a way that you feel and experience every emotion conveyed in the book.
I can't wait to get back to Gansett Island. I truly love this series and can't wait to see what Marie has in store for us next!
With every new Gansett book, I am pulled even deeper into the rabbit hole. There is simply nothing better than the McCarthy's. I adored Finn and Chloe's story. Their instant attraction and chemistry was amazing and seriously sexy. There were so many laugh out loud moments, just like every time I read about this crazy family. They are so lovable, heartwarming and seriously hilarious. There are always so many new things happening with each couple. I love every word.
What an addicting series. Absolutely love the characters and Finn and Chloe’s story was heart felt, well written and addicting. The emotions that Marie elicits from her characters makes you feel as though you are there. I cannot wait for more on the McCarthys and all the others. A must read for those looking for romance, amazing characters and storylines that you will not be able to put down.
This is truly one of the best series ever. The characters and storylines are believable and easy to follow. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes romance, friends and family.
Another trip to Gansett Island and I am so glad I made the trip! After 20 books it absolutely amazes me that each book is somehow better than the last. I loved Chole and Finn together! The thing I find fantastic about these books is no one is perfect! Real life situations, illness and other things come up that they deal with and overcome. I enjoy catching up with the other couples and watching them all band together. As always Finn was beyond sexy and seeing him fall for Chole was great to read. Together they were hot hot hot! ( break for me to fan myself). I can't wait to see what's to come on Gansatt Island! Enjoy!
I adore this series and I eagerly awaited this book. Coming at Xmas is a gift all in itself. Finn was awesome, we see a side of him that was previously hidden. The way he handles Chloe made me swoon. Lol I loved all the catch up moments with our fabulous friends and other halves it really is like coming home. So excited for some of the couples. No spoilers now tho. Great book
Loved catching up with all of the McCarthys. Why can’t I be part of their family? ☹️
Finn is yet another delicious member of the family who’s swoon worthy. Chloe was a nice match for him but my only issue was how their conflict dragged a bit too long.
I admit I’m being petty but I’m annoyed the book ends at 88%. Ugh.
Love this series. This is Finn and Chloe story. He wants to leave Gansett island until he meets hair dresser Chloe. We meet up with most of the characters and it's like going to a family reunion. Looking forward to book 21!
I loved Finn and Chloe❤️ It was instant love for them both it just took awhile for them to admit it to themselves! RA is a horrible condition my sister has it but with the right meds it controlled. The sex scenes were 🔥Marie has done it again!!
