This story of mine is an adaptation of the story, "Chand Saawla Hai," published in Hindi. And the stories, inspired by some events, do represent both imagination and fragments that mirror the truth. What is happening today is a story, what was happening yesterday was also a story, and what happens tomorrow will also become a story. If everything was seen as truth instead of a story, then today, perhaps, the background of our society and families would have told a different story.

Everyone has their boundaries and premises, and most of the time, they are violated. But there is no violation of these violations, nor is there any scale to measure all this. Just as one truth is different for different persons and becomes a story, in the same way, just like there was a king and there was a queen, this story gets over. And will this happen always...?

We have not been able to learn anything from the Panchatantra stories of the animal kingdom till date, which in my view forms the biggest learning through stories. I think no writer can teach someone something by simply writing a story; One only tries to tell by expressing one's thoughts, "Look, this is happening. And is it really happening!?"

So here I finished reading another captivating short story collection by Sudha Sikrawar. After being enthralled by her Hindi book, "Chand Sawla Hai," I eagerly anticipated delving into another masterpiece by this exceptionally talented author.

"Threshold" is an extraordinary compilation of stories that not only captivates but also showcase the bitter truths of society. Sudha skillfully portrays each story, leaving readers with a distinct and thought-provoking experience while shedding light on various perspectives of life and society. The stories within this collection are not only engaging but also serve as a mirror to our own lives.

This Book is a bundle of emotions. It's a collection of seventeen short stories. Each story is based on different themes yet rooted to the same roots of Satire. While reading some of the stories i felt so sad for the protagonist. Some of my favourite stories are Moon is not always milky, Flippant Parrot, Money Plant, Kamli , A bridal Shower. Reading short stories needs much attention and time to delve into each story. I appreciate the Author's efforts. The Story Money plant was written so well, how people in India believed in superstitions. The title is justified throughout the book. This was a mood changing book for me, it helped me to get out of a reading slump. In these Stories, the author purely explained the hidden pains and griefs poor people have in their lives. Some of the themes are Poverty, feminine sensibility, superstition, destiny, Role of money and Sarcasm. The book cover is so beautifully designed. I highly recommend this book to short story lovers. This is a perfect read for beginner and Intermediate readers.

📚Blurb:
This book is an extraordinary collection of short stories, with each story reflecting a fragment of truth inspired by real events. It reminds us that everything happening today, yesterday, and tomorrow is essentially a story. As we delve further into the stories, we come across a parallel drawn between the existence of a queen and the completion of a story. Just like the reign of a queen comes to an end, so does a story. This engrains the question within us: Will this cycle of storytelling always continue?

📚What I like about the book:
• I loved the way the author addresses the modern day issues of the society in such a traditional way that can be understood by everyone, but unlike the traditional books like panchatantra, the stories that depict ancient themes. It’s like a modern touch to the traditional storytelling which will help us being a better person in today’s world
• The author focuses really well on the boundaries and premises of every being, how these boundaries are breached knowing or unknowingly, and how it affects the people.
• The concept of the book makes one ponder on the subjective nature of truth, and how it transforms into a unique story for every individual.
• I really liked how the author believes that storytelling not only intends to teach, but rather to express the thoughts and say, "Look, this is happening. And is it really happening!?"

📚Conclusion:
"Threshold” is a literary gem which reminds the reader of the profound influence tales have on our society, family, and individual perspectives. It encourages the reader to embrace the beauty, diversity, and complexity of storytelling, urging one to recognize their power to shape their life and instill lasting lessons.

Threshold by Sudha Sikrawar is an engrossing collection of stories capturing the deepest facets of the human nature and the bitter reality of the society we live in. The stories, some inspired by true events and some a figment of the author’s imagination, each an unique experience exploring the different aspects of love, relationships and emotions.

The book is a collection of 17 stories, each with a diverse theme and background. Each story a slice of life with characters that feel as real as the people around you. From the story of an unknown stranger teaching you the real meaning of life to the story of the parrot who couldn't stop talking. From the tragic story of a bride spending a lifetime in hope or the amusing story of the money plant lore. Each story weaves a story around a bitter truth, an unspoken fact of life or a deepest emotion from the depths of the human emotion, each story an realistic portrayal of unnamed people around us.

What sets the book truly apart are the characters. Each of them drawn from the everyday life but each one of them truly extraordinary. I have met some truly memorable female characters through this book which will stay with me for a long time. Be it Savitri, Kamli, Neera or Gauri, each of them portraying the strength and resilience of women in different forms.

The writing is excellent capturing the raw characters with some thought provoking stories. Though all stories were great, 'Threshold of a big house, Money Plant, Not always a heaven, Pinion' were some of my favourite stories.

Overall, Threshold is an enchanting collection of short stories which everyone will enjoy reading. The stories will amuse you, make you shed a tear, make you think and stay with you for a long time.

"Human nature is so peculiar! The longing to live doesn't fade away even in the most adverse circumstances; on the contrary, it increases even further and gets stronger!"

This review highlights not judging the book at the very first error. 'Threshold' by Sudha Sikrawar is a collection of 17 short stories originally published in Hindi. This translated version of beautiful, heartfelt stories carries the essence of its Hindi counterpart in its narrative.

I was not too fond of the book when I began reading it. Instead of having a fictional setting and narrative, the writing was very matter-of-fact, which failed to impress me. Initially, for the first story, I had a hard time getting through the book, which happened a few times throughout the book. However, as I went on reading, I got accustomed to the writing style and fell in love with the stories. They were intense, emotional, heartfelt, and yet simple in their approach to human sensitivity. The stories in this collection are probably the reason why I love short stories so much.

The book began progressively better from the sixth story, 'Threshold of a Big House.' While the preceding stories were a good read, the sixth story really pulled me into the book. The beauty of the author's thoughts and writing really shined in this story, and the rest was such a treat. The initial hiccup did not mar my enjoyment of the book.

I definitely recommend this book to people who love reading short stories, and I would love to read the sixth story as a novel if the author will. As for a suggestion, one more round of editing, with a special focus on emotion building, would do great for the book.

⏩ Your favourite memories of short stories

☘️Threshold by Sudha Sikrawar is a collection of short stories that shed light on human relationships and emotions.

☘️The blurb of the book is so accurate and eye-catching that you will not be able to ignore it.

☘️especially with such an engaging cover.

☘️The book revolves around different short stories that will take you through the different emotions of humans and human relationships.

☘️I love how the author creates an excellent bunch of characters that will make you reread these stories in minutes.

☘️As human emotions and relationships are not always good or beautiful, they have their own struggles and ugly sides, and these stories show the bitter side of them smoothly yet effectively.

☘️Most of these stories show how society has operated the same way for years, never growing or improving from its hypocrisy.

☘️My favourite chapter of the book is "Moon Is Always Not Milkey about howeffortlessly Subin changed Shweta's entire perception of life.

☘️That's how we humans are; sometimes we are so Tangled up in our own problems that we don't even want to acknowledge the beauty around us.

☘️The chapter was on point, honest, and sincere.

☘️However, the writing in between doesn't work for me; sometimes it's boring or I'm confused, but

☘️The concept of the book is definitely commanding and impactful for readers.

☘️A great read for me!

The book reached me specially packed. I had the complete opposite feeling after reading the kind of book thought it might be. But in any case, the author's pen deserves praise. And it's a pity that I don't voice his description before reading this book because it greatly reduces my desire to read it. After reading the first two pages of this book, I got a distinct excitement that made me swallow the entire book.

Threshold by Sudha Sikrawar is an extraordinary collection of short stories that skillfully captures the intricacies and terrible truths of our civilization. With each story, Author delves deep into the human psyche, exploring themes of love, loss, identity, and societal norms.

The author's writing style is captivating and evocative, painting vivid pictures with her words. She effortlessly transports readers into the lives of her characters, making them feel their joys and sorrows as if they were their own. The stories are diverse in their settings and characters, yet they all share a common thread of raw emotion and thought-provoking narratives.

Overall, I loved the book and strongly recommend fellow readers to give it a try. And lastly, I'd thank the man who edited this cover, else it would have taken more or less months to come across the read, post finishing the other books of my collection.

Sometimes some people come to our life not to stay but to teach how our life should be". They are like a ray of light to show the path of happiness and then left with a feeling of emptiness which is so fulfilling.

Threshold is a compilation of 17 stories through which in a short period, a reader can feel different emotions bewildering inside them.

How someone younger than you can teach you to be smiling?

How a parrot can teach you to always be truthful?

A mother knows her children but a father can only think from his heart when it's about his child but the truth is always bitter.

"If at all the art of storytelling is ever judged on parameters of struggle and creativity would just be mud sledded all the way".

It's so true. It takes a lot of effort to put a story together and it is only known to the author.

But stories are written on the existence of time. Moments are written and scattered on the calming paper. These are the moments that change the picture of the story, the color of time, and the various streams of the mind.

If you want to go for a roller coaster ride of emotions then this combination of short stories can give you the chilliness.

My first thought was how gorgeous this cover would look in a paperback. We humans as much we claim ourselves to be superior and intelligent are also the ones that end up letting our emotions get the best of us. We are so fragile at times. We are a mess. We make mistakes. We let things drown us. We let things get to our head. This emotional complexity and genetic makeup of the humans is so extraordinary and unique in its own way. Growth is beautiful and for Growth to blossom, we need to undergo healing. It’s inevitable. It’s wherein we find solace. Where we can finally be at peace. This book has been written amazingly and it’s a fairly good read, also how endearing is the word ‘patte’ In order to heal, we need to face every unpleasant emotion and face every difficulty that life throws our way. We learn from mistakes and we grow from healing. Healing is spiritual. It’s overwhelming . It’s when true growth begins. “There is a difference between innocence of childhood and maturity of adulthood ‘ let that sink in.
I rate it 4/5

The book challenges readers to consider the nature of their own narratives, as well as their effects on society and personal experiences. This is not the first book by the author that has touched my heart. The book "Threshold" is felt like, the author's other Hindi book "Chaand Sawala hai."

The book cover is just so attractive, especially to women, that anyone who starts reading, can not take their mind off this book. Even though it is not a novel and it is a book of many short stories, this book is a page-turner.

Some stories of the book will touch your heart and some with touch your soul. The book is a fictional book, but it will feel so real in this lifetime.

I will recommend this book to everyone so they can find themselves in different stories and different characters.

*** I think "Moon is Not Always Milky" is the story of this book which will stay in my heart forever. I really felt overwhelmed after reading that, I chose the Subin kind of character which is very close to my life and heart. ***

Do not read this book with your brain, read it with your heart.

When you read this book you realize how little you know about your society.

The cover of the book is very attractive, after seeing it you will definitely feel that I should read it.

There are 17 stories in the book, which are completely different from each other, each story will take you on a new journey, somewhere you will find yourself in it, somewhere someone close to you.

The first story of this book 'moon is always not milky' will show you an incomplete love, then in 'Threshold of a big house' you will come to know how women are oppressed in our society and how they live it considering it as their life.
In today's time, if you are looking for a book like Premchand ji's stories read in your syllabus, then I think this is the book.

Review : Threshold is the collection of short stories. This book has thrown some light on Indian mentality. Each story has some unique kind of thought.

We can get to know everyday emotions of human beings from different perspectives here. Stories are thought provoking at some level i feel.

Bridal shower story I found very much relatable in today's generation and also the Delusion. The language used is easy to understand. Mentioning below my fav phrases from the title.

"No one in the world can close the door for anyone who has conquered the threshold of mind. It is a different matter, it might take some time."

The adapted story, "Chand Saawla Hai," presents a thought-provoking exploration of the interplay between truth, imagination, and the narrative of human experiences. The narrative navigates the delicate balance between reality and fiction, illustrating how events, both past and present, are perceived and interpreted through the lens of personal experiences and societal constructs. The story prompts readers to reflect on the transformative power of storytelling and how it shapes our understanding of the world.
