A young Black boy in the early 1900s hears his community talk about moving to Canada to escape the prejudices and problems they face in the United States.
It’s not my favorite novel, but as a mother my heart felt for Rap. I know it’s a story, but his curiosity and innocence reminded me so much of my own boys when they were younger. When he lost his innocence about the world around him it reminded me of when my own sons were shaken by the realities of life. So I stuck with him to the end. I have no regrets.
Super book! It gave a lot of insight on what both the US and Canada were like during 1910. I was surprised to see that the Canadians had racial issues with the African Americas as well as the United States. Thank goodness we've come a long way from those days. However, we have quite a distance to cover yert.
