Dear People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors: Heartfelt Stories about Doctor-Patient Relationship

Rate this book
From time immemorial, medicine has remained one of the most respected professions. Trust formed the unshakeable foundation of the doctor-patient relationship and, for long, doctors were treated next to God.
In recent times, though, this sacred relationship is suffering from an erosion of faith. We often hear discouraging stories of doctors being abused and hospitals vandalised. The narrative is gradually turning negative-a dismal reality for both doctors and patients. We tend to forget that there are many great things happening in the medical world. Today, we are living much longer, we have managed to eradicate many diseases, we have vaccines that prevent our children from dying, life-saving surgeries are being performed while the baby is still in the womb, and we can give the gift of life to someone by transplanting vital organs. Medical miracles are happening every day in hospitals worldwide.

This book is a collection of heartfelt stories by doctors and patients from across the globe. These are stories of triumph, empathy, positivity, loss and, sometimes, failure. It goes one step ahead and captures the experience of people who surround a doctor-the mother of a doctor, a surgeon's husband and an acid attack survivor-stories that underline that a doctor too is a human being after all. Human resilience can often break barriers, and these stories serve as inspiration to both patients and doctors alike.

Riveting and absolutely unputdownable, Dear People gives an inside view of the world of medicine and hopes to inspire millions to retain faith in this beautiful relationship.

Starting from the cover of the book is a simple image of the stethoscope and a beautiful quote by Dalai Lama. The title “Dear People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors: Heartfelt Stories about Doctor-Patient Relationship” gives a hint that the book is all about doctor-patient relationship and it completely justifies the plot.

A doctor is nothing without its patients and this book shows a very well blended journey of various doctors with their patients. Holding this book gives a sense of good vibe and shows us a different world. We know who a doctor is, but with this book we come to know how a doctor is made and what his outlook for things. This book is collection of stories of doctors and patients who share their real life experience and perception about doctor and patient relation. Every chapter starts with a beautiful quote and ends with facts and between them are the incidents. At the end of the book there is table about 'Manifesto of Doctors and Patients Rights', which is again very helpful.
The language of the book is easy. Also some technical jargons are used to enhance the story but that is as per the requirement of the story.

Narrated by some of the most celebrated doctors from across the world, Dear People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors weaves together inspirational and personal stories of medical excellence and brilliance, interjected with feelings of triumph, loss, fear, strength, valour and empathy.
Pick this bouquet of 34 stories and have a great time, be it you are a non reader or a pro. Be a reader, now and forever!!!

Title: Dear People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors
Author: Debraj Shome and Aparna Govil Bhasker
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Genre: Non-Fiction

My Take:

Dear people is a collection of emotional and heart touching experiences shared by Doctors and patients alike. In these 34 distinct stories, you will get to know an unseen side of Doctors that will surely change your perspective towards them.

I felt the need for these stories to be told as assaulting doctors had been increasing in recent times. Recently two doctors were assaulted by the relatives of the patient who had died at the hospital in West Bengal which had triggered a seven days strike of Doctors for their safety and security.

We all see Doctors as God, even if they want to be they can't. They too are humans like us which means errors may happen. Neither I'm nor the Doctors in this book have denied or justified medical malpractices. There was a confession of an inexperienced Doctor who nearly killed his patient.

But there are Doctors who had gone extra miles in saving his/her patients life. Even after 15 years of her patient's death, a Doctor still thinks of the possibilities, of the family she could have, of the career she could have.

Amidst the riot, there were Doctors who risked their lives to save a patient's life. Another Doctor despite his ailing mother was reluctant to leave his clinic, giving full priority to his patients than his emotions.

Reading Manu's story was inspirational. I don't know that a hand transplant surgery is possible until reading this book. And Manu's was India's first-hand transplant surgery and the Doctors did it successfully. Stories like this create awareness on organ donation.

Like any other profession, the Medical profession also has both the positive and negative sides. While there are other sources including media are bringing the darker side of this profession to light. Here is a book that has brought the fragile and emotional side of the medical profession to our knowledge.

This book is an informative, emotional and a heartwarming read. I would like to thank Fathima for the copy.

Book Name : Dear People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors
Author : Debraj Shome & Aparna Govil Bhaskar
Publication : Bloomsbury
My Rating : 5/5

My Review :

Once upon a time, doctors were considered akin to God but now time has been changed, doctors are now routinely assaulted and hospitals vandalised. Doctor-patient relationship was pure bond that time but now it's altered due to some discouraging stories. This book will help to rebuild this beautiful relationship.

Dear people is a collection of 34 stories written by different doctors based on their personal experience.

Every story start with a quote & ends with that doctor's bio & some information related to medical field.
.
In this book topics discussed like:
1) Why cost of treatment is increasing day by day.

2)How doctors juggles between personal life & professional life. .

3)Despite of best intentions, medical errors may happen. How Doctors become 'victims' of unexpected & unanticipated medical errors is well explained.

4)People think that doctors get used to death & loss over time. But that is not true, there are many sleepless nights & often these case stay in their hearts for life. As I'm a doctor I can't explain in words that how I feel when facing the s as me situation but unfortunately grief is not a luxury that we are granted as many more lives await our care & we have no choice but to get back to work the next morning.

5)Medical science has made emmense progress, no doctor knows everything & may certainly never know everything. This is the fact. But patients expectations are very high they are not ready to accept this thing.

All above facts are responsible to disturb doctor-patient relationship. This book is written in the doctors perspective.Hope people will accept reality which in turns helps to retain faith in this beautiful relationship.

There are many other stories in which doctors shares their experiences with patients. And all they are very nicely written.

Overall book is very good. Hope this book will help to regain trust of the patients.

Definitely recommended to everyone. Plz read & share with your friends.

This book is a collection of 34 heartbreaking stories written by different persons about the relationship between Doctor-Patient. This book had completely changed my perspective about doctors. From this book I came to know the way the doctors analyze and think about the treatment for a particular diseases and they keep them up to date to do that. There is this story where the doctor grieved even after 15 years from one of her patient's demise, who had come with 98% of burns. Their patient's dead do affect them a lot.

The thing I learned from this story is that experience is more important than knowledge. In one of the stories a doctor was handling a critical patient, he knew what to do, but as he was a fresher he didn't know how to treat the patient, thus his lack of experience took away the patient's life. Whereas an experienced doctor in a village with no specialized equipments or laboratories performed the left kidney removal operation for a critical patient. There are stories with tumors, Burns, eye defection and more. I came to know about India's first hand transplant through this book. Overall this book will make you know more about doctors and their efforts to treat their patients.

This book is a beautiful collection of stories or incidents taken place in doctor's life so it is from the doctors point of view. It has some incidents which will sadden your heart and some will make you smile and some will give you all the hope required to fight a battle.
There are so many doctors who have contributed to this book and they all belong to all the different fields of medical some are from IVF Specialist department, some from anesthesiologist department, some general surgeon and many more. After every story that ends there is some description about that particular doctor about whom the incident is about and there is also a "DID YOU KNOW?" part at end of each chapter and every chapter is named by the moral or meaning of that particular story/incident. It has a very simple and easy language to understand even though this book is by doctors.

Let me give a token of respect to the authors first as they strive to perform 101 subsidised surgeries for needy patients, from the proceeds of this book, through the Debabrata Auro Foundation.

This book, as title suggests, is a collection of heartfelt stories, anecdotes and experiences of several patients and doctors. The forward is given by His Holiness, Dalai Lama. They provide a deep insight into the doctor-patient relationship that is kind of fading in modern times.

It provides so many new perspectives into the medicine that I was shocked to see so much difference and uniqueness in each story. While some doctors accept their mistakes during a surgery, some put emphasis on how positivity, willingness and faith can put work like a miracle. While some stories make you feel grateful for having a life, some leave a deep impact on it.

It explored various fields of medicine from cosmetic surgery to dermatology to eye surgeries to organ transplants to hand transplants and many more. It provides so much knowledge about advances in medical field. I personally loved to get an insight into the mind of a doctor. How they feel, the grief, the fear, the confusion, the complexities while dealing with patients.
The book teaches how faith and dedication from patient side is as important as knowledge and experience of doctor to have a successful treatment.

The book also puts the quick medical info available on internet in the limelight. Having an access to knowledge has reduced the faith of patients in doctor. Medicine is a proffesion and has its own good and bad sides attached to it.

Writing style is pretty simple albeit containing medical terms which are explained in simple manner. Narration is so smooth, I sailed through the book. Use of some phrases and words sometime becomes repetitive and I feel that better vocabulary could have been used. Every story starts with an apt quote taken from the story itself and ends with some research stats related to the story.

Book Review Dear People, with love and care, Your Doctors published by Bloomsburyindia.

Edited by Dr Debraj Shome and Dr Aparna Govil Bhaskar.

The book is actually a collection of 34 stories, rather anecdotes from lives of doctors and patients alike. There is the perspective of doctors as care givers and as patients themselves or being a family member of a patient. Their role not o

nly as a doctor but as a human on the whole has been taken out.

On a personal front, the stories here have moved me extremely. I grappled with words to write about this book.

From the beautiful preface to stories that stretch from a doctor living with remorse of almost killing his patient, of letting go of emotions on death of a favorite patient to patients like Sagarbai who upturn their savings and give and earn mutual respect. There is the story of a Mr Bhasker, who being a management person is privy to the super hectic life of his surgeon wife!

There is story of contrasting human nature where some patients display exemplary behaviour while others hold you responsible for things beyond control.

Loved the story of the futuristic healthcare where empathy and personal contact changed the entire scenario of healthcare, where your hippocampus becomes a dropbox and a cobot your assistant!

From acid attack victims to undying spirits of a doctor turned spastic paralysed himself, to how a nose job changes your life and how placebo s and doctors talk can encourage you to extreme, this book will make you live every emotion!

Being a researcher in biology and also due to close association with many doctors due to my papa being a terminal cancer patient himself, I could relate very very well to this book. To the editor, Dr Shome, kudos, I figured that you have lost your doctor father to lung cancer and the story is from your mother. But I believe the facilities you received as a doc would be difficult for the common man to get!

Lastly as the book emphasizes the balance between trust and understanding of the doc and the patient is really the first and most important factor is mutual benefit to fight against common enemy disease!

Special mention also to the two forewords, the second one specifically, which lists the do s of patients and reminds doctors of their Hippocratic Oath! To serve!

Its a book which is unique and impossible to rate. Will pass it down to the doctors and patient parties I know. There is much to know from and feel from this book!

It is informative, insightful and heartfelt!

I must thank Sma and Md. Akhlaq here for this books copy! I am gonna cherish it!

My Ratings - 3.5/5 stars

The tagline of the book is “Heartfelt stories about Doctor-Patient relationships”. This book is basically collection of incidents or stories of unique incidents in doctors’ lives and being in medical profession I can say that all those are indeed true. Majority stories are from the point of view of a doctor. The number of doctors shared their memorable experience. And I like end credits as it was nice to read how successful doctors also have few unique incidents to share. Most important thing I like about is “Did you know?” Section at the end of each chapter. That’s really informative. As my brother is doing residency, I can relate each and everything about doctor’s life and incidents. My favourite stories are “Never Give up” and “Let go... if you want to survive”
If we talk generally about the book, I like all the incidents/stories that are chosen and definitely the narration style. There is a book in Gujarati language, “Doctor ni Diary” on similar concept and that is one of my favourite book so definitely my comparison goes with that book. One thing I would like to mention is that book is written in medical language. I mean there are lots of terminologies that non medical person will have difficulty in understanding. Being in medical profession, I can understand but if I see from their perspective, it will be boring to look into dictionary or google every time to check for terminology. The book could have been written more to make understand normal people. But definitely with little effort, it’s worth reading. I recommend this book to everyone as there are lots of issues going on with doctors, especially violence. So before pointing out to doctors, read and know about their life choices and duties, so you will never have complain about it. Overall worth reading!

Dear people, with love and care, your doctors is a phenomenal book authored by Debraj shome and Aparna govil bhasker. This book consists of various short and incredibly beautiful yet heartfelt stories about doctor-patient relationships as per the title. The cover of this book is decent, with a stethoscope drawn with the title and the red and white colour contrast on the cover also depicts about medicine.

The title of this book is apt to the content inside. The chapters in this book starts with an amazing title and ends with some heart wrenching or some motivating stories. This book is a kind of must read as the incidents discussed in this book is so true and should be read by everyone. At the end of each chapter, there is a little detail about the doctor and some interesting facts about doctors or medicine world. This book consist stories across the globe.

The stories narrated in this book are so touching and talks about empathy, positivity, triumph, loss and sometimes even failure. This book discusses the losing trust between doctor and patients because of some fake information over internet. In this digital world, people are more dependant on google and hence have less faith in doctors. It talks about the personal and professional life of doctors and how they are devoid of any family moments. It indeed made me understood that the profession of a doctor is the most noble profession in the entire world and like others, doctors also does learn through failures and sometimes, the nature has its own power.

The language of this book is easy to understand yet so engaging and captivating. The narration was made amazing with various facts and findings. I will definitely recommend this book to everyone out there. This non fiction book is so informative and an important read in this modernising world.

"Health and healing need faith"
.
Inspiring & emotionally overwhelming, this book is important.

The blurb does justice to the book - //a collection of heartfelt stories by doctors & patients from across the globe.. of triumph, empathy, positivity, loss, & sometimes, failure//
.
I'm reading this book as my father is ill & me and my family is dealing with doctors, path labs, & other medical technicians. It couldn't have been a better time. I understand the emotion behind this book & given the circumstances, also feel it deeply.

I have a lot of praise for this one & no complaints, whatsoever-

First of all, the cover is subtle, specially the colors communicate peace and calm, signifying the sanctity of this relationship and & hence, the motive of this book-to revive it.

With the recent increase in aggression towards doctors & strikes in response becoming common, the book becomes all the more relevant.

It brushes a variety of concerns & experiences, making it complete in all senses. Also, what makes this book accessible is that it's not about doctors as we see as a separate species, all technical and professional. But these are stories of doctors as human beings, as much as we are.

The interactive style of narration, the various shades of doctor patient relationship dynamics & the changing experiences, makes it one inspiring read.

Above all, I believe it is such, such a humble book! It gives you insight into the world of hospitals, trainees, & even experienced doctors, of things gone wrong and of unexpected miracles.
.
Ps- I also personally loved the little Did You Know facts at the end!

In a world of faith faltering & mistrust rising high, this book brings in new hope. A 4 on 5!

Dear people with love and care.

On an average how many times you get chance to visit doctor in a year. I pray you get less chance to visit doctor. We never asked any doctor how they feel after operation? Do they have something to share?
Then, I stumbled upon this book.
Incredible!!!

The book is more about doctor and patience and there stories. So no need to judge cover as it looks simple and amazing. From childhood we think doctor are strict but, we always fail to understand them and that's why you should read this book.

This book will change your perspective about doctor patience relationship. Book has so many real experience. There are total 34 chapter written by different doctor.

The best thing about chapter is it start with quote. "Did you know?" That literally one of my favourite part of book.
Every chapter is on the point no extra masala nothing.
Glad to read this book.

Talking about stories, the narration is indeed great. Some stories have good experience and some have bad one. So many new Medical terms used which you might find hard to digest. The language easy and lucid

Some of my favorite chapter
Never give up
Let go. If you want to survive
Do what you love
Your faith shall heal you

Dear people is a collection of stories of doctors, their experiences, their struggles. It talked about the time when the technology was not much advanced and the time when they faced criticisms for their work, the time when they faced failures, when the doctor became the patient, when they fought with the most dangerous disease. All the stories describe different emotions and experiences by different doctors and what they learned from it.

After reading the book I realized that being the most noble profession, it has many difficulties too. We could not imagine the struggle of a doctor.I liked the title very much. There were quotes in the beginning of each story and at the end of every story there some facts. I really liked this idea, it is through those facts that I got to know many things about the medical field. The stories were penned down in a simple language. It was very well narrated. It was a great read and I recommend it to everyone. ❤

Dear people with love and care your Doctor's by Debraj Shome and Aparna Govil Bhasker was my first experience to explore such genre where doctor talk about their life experience with patients and i am like how foolish we are sitting in our home thinks how easy is the life of doctors once they gain their fame as a doctor and print money .
We as a common man couldn't ever imagined even a second of their life and their feelings and honestly I also don't before reading this book .
But this book is not only collection of 34 stories but every story has it's own journey and experience of their life . While reading I felt how much frustrated the doctors feel yet they treat us with same care .
I'm one of them who will blame doctor if anything wrong happens with my body but in this world who cares for other emotion so this book is very necessary for all the people to read because we all have some day or the other have to meet them .
Throughout the book I felt that someone was talking to me and sharing their experience .
Fabulous narration and beautiful cover of the book the writers have done a great work !

The book is a soliloquy of doctors who devote their lives for the sake of helping the victims, citizens & civilians. It's the result of the work of two surgeons, their experiences which lead to the successful creation of this book. It has in total 36 hearttouching, heartwrecking & heartwarming stories. It has been compiled in a good way - which gives a realistic approach to it. It harbours stories of many doctors & patients who shared their feelings, emotions, devotion, attitude, thoughts, experiences & how they actually deal with them. Patients who deal with doctors & medical health care system is very important to discuss.

Though I'm not always in favour of doctors & medical profession, systems with their so-called professionals as a whole because they inhabit so many malpractices. The act of saving lives is noble & it sustains a great deal of trust. However, in the recent past couple of years things have changed, it has taken turn for the worse - where medical profession is mainly a channel of business & doctors have treated patients merely as a decoy, an essential tool to make more money. Patients have been created as an excellent resource of money as they're mostly naive & most of the times ignorant. They've been made to believe via our culture, preaching & sayings that doctors are human form of god, a thing that must be reverted. As a result, they foster immense reverence in the eyes of the patients. However, what patients fail to understand is that they're mere sacrificial pawns & lambs in the greater part of the shady money-making game.

So I'm not in total favour of doctors being God, nor am I in favour of patients as they lack awareness in many aspects. There're times where a minor illness or minor change in health - which could've been treated gently with a medicine has been procrastinated & extrapolated into a major issue leading to the end of savings of poor people who are naive enough to understand what is right or wrong. There have also been cases witnessed where doctors have given fake treatment to dead bodies just to create long bills & cheating them to suck more money out of the poor. In my opinion, our country lacks much infrastructure & health wise needs. And most of the times, the lack of awareness & knowledge of things amongst the common people which leads to their exploitation in many unspeakable ways on the grounds of sexual, moral, emotional, ethical & financial. In today's world, one mustn't blindly trust or rely on doctors - as they intent to only earn money by making a fool out of the victims & using them. Also, one must be adapt enough to analyse & detect this deception. Additionally, they must possess some basic information of human body & health - so that they can give first-aid treatment to themselves or their loved ones, rather than just simply relying on medical people.

In short, I've lost all faith on doctors & medical profession. In my life, I've encountered very few true rare doctors who work for the welfare of people to make society better rather then cheating them & creating a shady sham.

_"A book which must be in every hospital waiting room."_

*Insight* -
The book is a beautiful collection of priceless experiences and memories from doctors all around the globe. An insight into the mind of doctors let's us know about the riot of emotions they go through every single day. The joy when a doctor save a life, the despair when he/she loses one, the rush when one is trying to pull a patient down when God is pulling him up, and the anguish when after putting in all efforts, a patient walks away towards the almighty without leaving a clue why.

It shows the importance of hope, willpower and trust, that treat a patient more than any medication, and how the optimism of doctors let patients see light at the end of the tunnel when even the next of kin have lost it.

Review -
The book treats DOCTORS in very high regard but on the other hand explains to the society that in the end all doctors are human, and like every other profession, medicine also has some malicious elements which sometimes hinder with the well being of the patients.

As we turn the pages of the book we see how sometimes patient's approach a doctor at a very fragile point in their life, it takes a lot of patience and courage to lift people up and show them hope that itself is very bleak, and this is what unfolds into a doctor-patient relationship. (The relationship is akin to a roller coaster ride, enjoyable at times and tenuous at others.)pg 102

Kudos to the editor for collecting and compiling all the stories which was not at all plain sailing, further editing the stories in a very easily conceivable manner, yet the reader gets the adrenaline rush while reading all the stories as he can feel the intense atmosphere in an emergency room or an ICU.

The book promises a beautiful ride through unsung tales of patients, doctors and their relatives. A must read for all patients and attendants sitting for long hours in the waiting area.

Drawbacks-None, apart from the medical terminologies which is very often used in the book, non medicos may find it little difficult to connect at first read.

Target readers-
All medicos, and doctors must read this. Since it's a part of a doctor's profession to learn how to deal with sad, angry or agitated patients and their attendants.
Those people who often blame doctors and their style of working should read this to understand dynamics of a doctor's life.

Rating - 5/5

"This book is a collection of heartfelt stories by doctors and patients from across the globe. These are stories of triumph, empathy, positivity, loss and, sometimes, failure.
Dear People gives an inside view of the world of medicine and hopes to inspire millions to retain faith in this beautiful relationship."

Opinion-
Doctors are not God's. They are mere humans trying to save others from various ailments. People often forget that. They can't do miracles. They just try their best. Recent episodes in the country where doctors were bashed and heavily injured because they failed to save someone's life; deeply pains me. The conscience of a doctor also hurts when they treat someone. That's why they never get attached to the patients they are treating. We often forget the human factor in a doctor and treat them like some other beings, not human, not capable of being pained. Balancing personal and professional life is a major issue for most of the doctors, yet they always prioritise saving someone's life than spending time with their family. If that's not sacrifice, I don't know what is. These stories show a whole new perspective of the doctor patient relationship.
A collection of 34 stories narrating the experience of doctors all around the world.
The title justifies the content. The cover however seemed bit bland to me. It's quirky but felt lacking imagination. The language is super easy to understand. The writing style very lucid.
The research done is commendable.
The narration is brilliant. The experiences of the doctors is narrrated from a whole new perception.
The insight into the lives of doctors, both professional and personal was something i enjoyed the most in the stories.
Another thing worth mentioning are the titles. They are intriguing, and arouses curiosity even before you are done reading the whole title.
Each story starts with a quote and ends with a short bio on the doctor and a Did you know? where facts related to medicine is quoted.

Dear✨ People, with Love and Care, Your Doctors✨
Author: Debraj Shome and Aparna Govil Bhasker
✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏✏
background
The book is a book of "Experiences" and I would say the book is "must-read" in a lifetime.
The book eliminates and makes familiar with various aspects of a doctor's life.
🔯where our country considers doctors as gods, due to the heal art they possess, but tend to forget that medicine is less about science n more about art and doctors are also a human who is taught to fight with disease n death. And while most of the time wins but sometimes they also loose.
🔯Our People have created an illusion that doctors are immune to lose but on other hand there is another aspect to it.
time doesn't immune them towards loss but their focus stays with saving, they are affected by a loss like every human being but rather than just concentrating on death they pull themselves so they could save more.
🔯the book also share complicating stories of doctors' patient relationship which adds up to our point of view. Frankly while reading it I could imagine myself in each of these situations...stories of sudden loss; expected loss, brave acid survivors, body transplant, doctor harassment etc. Giving me a better perspective of each situation.I am someone who isn't emphatic until I strive live situation but the clarity of the book brings me to it.
🔯the book calls for the unheard voices and their stories but on the similar way the book isn't one perspective. The books considers "hype medical expenses" and "unethical doctors" keeping it absolutely unacceptable. Also Making sure not to weighing all the doctors in same scale.

Dear People have stories of different doctors and their patients and some of their most special cases in life. It has stories of doctors from various fields like Cancer Specialist, Surgeon, Psychiatrist Cosmetic Surgeon and so on. But one thing is common in all of them that each doctor treats their patient with utmost care and passion.

No doctor claims to be the best in their field nor no one claims to be GOD. Some stories trace back when there was no technology but still doctors tried their best to cure the patient. In some cases even in the modern times where every technology is available in a snap of a finger they couldn't save their patients.

Each story is so heart warming and emotional that you will be totally invested in the book. After reading this my respect for doctors just grew tremendously. There are some doctors who do not ether to their profession but don't you see such examples in every field. Then why doctors only have to pay the high price?

The goal of the book is to make people aware and inform about the doctor patient relationship. That patient has to trust the doctors with their methods and procedure and that their ultimate goal is the betterment of their patient. Even doctor has to trust the patient that he/she will fight back and follow all the medication suggested by the doctors.

One more important in the book is it throws light on the mental health of the doctors. Doctors deal with the death, loss and grief on daily basis which have a great impact on their mental health too. So next time instead of shouting or insulting a doctor remember they go through a lot worse than you.

The only thing which bothered me was the repetition of the doctor patient relationship definition. I understand that was the ultimate goal of the book but still repeating same thing again and again makes it quite tedious to read.

⭐Book Name - Dear people,with love,and care,your doctor
⭐Author Name -- Debraj Shome and Aparna Govil Bhasker
.
💛Doctors are an integral part of our the society. People believe that they are second god. For me the relationship between Doctor and patient is also very important. The doctor and patient's values and perspectives about disease, life, and time available play a role in building up this relationship.
.
💛The book is collection of 34 stories which are written by successful doctors with different specialities from their real life experiences. Authors have beautifully explained various aspects like Doctor-patient relationship, empathy, success, failures, hope, death, happiness, courage etc. These stories are inspiring and written with great precision and depth of understanding. The language is lucid and the medical terminology used are well explained. Stories are heart touching and narration is very smooth.
.
💛First of all I would like to thank authors for deciding to perform 101 subsidized surgeries for needy patients from the proceeds of this book. How thoughtful of them. Stories not only represents the achievement of doctors but also failures or mistakes done by them. At the end of book there is a manifesto of doctor and patient rights which was very informative. Each chapter starts with quote from that doctor and ends with 'did you know' and the Doctor's bio at the end of the chapters.
.
💛The book gives us an important message that doctors are humans too. We blame them for our loss without knowing the reason. The doctor patient relationship needs faith which is important ingredient in the process of healing. The 3F(Fraud, Fear and Faith) philosophy by Swami Vivekanand is what we need in Today's world.

“Care for your fellow beings, whether they’re patients, doctors or just any ordinary human being. You never know what they may have gone through because everyone is fighting a battle that you may be unaware of. ” – Dr. Dheeraj V Mulchandani

One of the best quotes from the book I wished to share and would like to tell you guys that let it absorb.

This book comprises of various experiences and stories of doctor and patients relationship. The authors created this book where doctors and patients can come together and talk about their sides of the story.

Every story of this book is poignant. Some gave us a good experience and some make us sad.

The writing style is explicit one can flash the scenario in front of them and can actually experience the situation.

The best part about this book is that there is a DID YOU KNOW? A section at the end of every chapter where the authors have mentioned the researches and facts related to medical situations.

I would say this book is more than just a doctor-patient relationship. I loved a part where doctors have openly shared their experiences about mistake occurred from their end. And yes it can happen… they aren’t god…. Doctors are human too and I wish everyone should treat the same.

Language used is pretty simple and easy to comprehend. Yes, few medical terms are difficult and one might need to Google it, but the denotations are given for the same.

Though I respect doctors to another level but reading this book made me even more proud of them. It was a complete worthy experience.

Another one from the book…. “Yes she is working; no I don’t know when she will be home; yes we are still married; no she is not imaginary – a doctor's husband” – C. B. Bhasker

A Doctors- patient relationship is always a pure relationship. But nowadays this relationship suffering from an erosion of faith.
Dear people in the book of hope of beginning a new chapter of this relationship.
This book, is a collection of 34 heartfelt stories written by different doctors, from their own experiences, across the world. A very knowledgable, an informative and of course a balanced perspective. This book described both sides of the doctors and patient relationship. There are some stories of love, success, concern and faith again some stories show humiliation and failure. In this book you can realise about the modern approach of medicine, about what has changed, what hasn't. What a doctor-patient relation should be. Authors provided some facts about Medicine and some survey in the last of each chapter, which is very interesting, informative and engaging. They also include a Manifesto of Doctors and patient Rights, I think which is very helpful to all of us.
.

Did you know? A 2015 survey by the IMA suggests that 75% of doctors in India have faced violence at their work, faced maximum violence when providing emergencies services. This is really shocking. We all should understand that it doesn't have to be "US Vs THEM. Both doc and patient need to realise that they can't survive without each other. .
A very knowledgeable informative balanced book. Kudos to the authors for written this book and try to turn a new chapter in the doctor-patient relationship. I strongly feel that, Everyone both doctors and patient should read this book. .
Thank you @sma_reviews for this book..

Dear people

The book is a compilation of doctors who devoted their lives for the sake of helping common people. It contains hearttouching stories about doctors, patients & the relationships they share in various contexts, levels & intricacies of life. It's a considerable nonfiction book, so it takes quite sometime to get hang of it, let alone finish it. But with patience, it can be enjoyed thoroughly at many stages!

Book is composed of 34 chapters. Each talks about real-time & reallife expressions & experiences of Doctor-patient relationship. It has been penned down my various doctors. It has been written in such a way that it keeps it realistic as much as possible.

We all wish we visit the doctors less due to fees & as well as our health concerns. We all want to be healthy as much as possible. Only must never give up in life no matter what happens.

The plot & concept selected for each stories are good. Not all are goody shoes ones. There're many sad yet painful experiences as well. They're mere experiences of what people faced in their real lives. It encourages readers to read more about it.

I'm not all into the favour of either parties, the patients or doctors. Both are at faults in various levels. I felt the book could've been written in a more neutral way. As there's a lot of lack of trust in both the peers (doctors & patients). There's copious amount of usage of medical terms which I'm not aware of.

Language is simple. Narration is okay. Cover is poorly designed. It could've been much better. Title is well selected. This is the aspect which I love about the book the most. It attracted me enough to pick up the book & give a nice read to it!

🏥“ While doctors do their best to save lives, it is important to accept that a successful outcome is sometimes beyond their control.” ⁣

🥼 The book is an amazing collection of 34 heartfelt stories about doctor-patient relationship from across the globe. ⁣

👩‍⚕️ The chapters starts with beautiful quotes by various doctors, followed by a wonderful narrated story and ends with “ Did you Know?” Box which expands your knowledge base. ⁣

🥼 “ Even 1% fear cannot coexist with faith.”⁣

🏥The chapters are beautifully titled with wonderful plot and narration. The book gives an inside view of the world of medicine and hopes to inspire millions to retain faith in this beautiful relationship.⁣

📚These are stories of triumph, empathy, positivity, loss and, sometimes, failure. It goes one step ahead and captures the experience of people who surround a doctor-the mother of a doctor, a surgeon's husband and an acid attack survivor-stories that underline that a doctor too is a human being after all. Human resilience can often break barriers, and these stories serve as inspiration to both patients and doctors alike.⁣

🏥The faith and belief in doctors is gradually declining and is suffering an erosion of faith as doctors are the ones who just want to make money but this book helps to establish that lost faith once again. It helps us to explore the new inventions or discover the success stories in the medical 🏥 world. ⁣

❤️The creatives made by Aparna also makes the book more commendable. ⁣

Book_Review #47

Dear people, with love and care, your Doctors is a collection of 34 touching, heartfelt and emotionally resonant life stories and incidents shared by different renowned caregivers. These stories tell us (common people) about the life and struggles on the other side of the line. the writers have exquisitely explained various aspects like, Doctor-patient relationship, surgeries, success, failures, life, death, happiness, sorrows, empathy, etc. with such precision that it leaves readers deeply inspired. A book you will love from the beginning.

I loved each and every story presented in this 293 pages memoir. Each story has a heart and soul of its own which connects deeply with the readers. These stories are meaningful, awe-inspiring, and is written with great compassion, precision and depth of understanding. Language used throughout the book is magniloquent and original and helps us to see the doctors in new light. I loved "Did You Know" facts after each and every story and the Doctor's bio at the end of the chapters.

The book is thought-provoking, impassioned and insightful. Authors, by means of this book, has created enduring heroes, who are changing our life for better everyday. We get lost in our sorrows and pains that we forget doctors are humans too. This book couldn't have come out at a better time.

I would like to applaud, the authors and all the doctors in this world who are always there, day and night it, 24 X 7 for us. Reading this book was a pleasure and an eye-opener, also it left me better than I was before.
