I purchased this book around Thanksgiving time of last year to be used for my daily devotional in 2021. I started with volume 2 (The New Testament). I was looking for something new, especially a new author. I hit a home run with this purchase. The author, one hundred percent, believes the Scriptures are about Jesus Christ! The devotions are short, challenging and relevant! I’ve added another good devotional to my library and this one has made it to my list of favorites. I HIGHLY recommend this book! I started volume 1 (The Old Testament) today. I’m excited about this volume and the next six months.

After reading Volume 1 (the Old Testament), I was unsure what to expect out of volume 2. After all, I’m more familiar with the NT than OT. However, Glen Scrivener does a masterful job yet again of showing us Christ and warming our affections for him. I’ve been done this volume for awhile now but keep it nearby and often re-read some of my many favourites in this beautiful devotional. Towards the end of what would be the full year, he spends 12 days on the Christmas story, so it makes terrific reading leading up to Christmas. Can’t recommend this book (well, both books) highly enough.

I am so glad Glen Scrivener has chosen to share the gift God has given him. He is an incredible writer and able to elucidate the Scriptures in clear and captivating ways. Every day, I found a nugget I could hold onto from Reading Between the Lines, Vol. 2. This is easily one of the best devotionals I have read and I will return to it again, no doubt, at some point in the future.

This book is a wonderful walk through the New Testament. The devotions each day are thought provoking and helpful, and there is a Bible reading everyday, which is really the focus of a book like this! I found my daily devotion time was truly aided by this book.

It was a good book. I liked the short little devotional and daily scripture reading. Personally I wished it would have gone through the New Testament instead of jumping around but that just how I would have enjoyed it more.
